Oh, God. I'm cursed, aren't I? Oh sweet mother of Jesus (I know, right, and I'm not even religious), WHAT have I done to have this absolute ATROCITY written about ME?!?!?! Not only did you portray me as very, VERY out-of-character, you ruined a classic musical! I apologize for my straightforwardness, but this did NOT do it for me. No, not at all.

Okay first of all this story is amazing holy crap you know how to make Erik hot. And for once this one-shot feels complete! You framed the story nicely, providing background and future instead of just a random sex scene. That being said I have to say that Gerard Butler, even though, yes, he is hot, did not play the best Phantom. He relied on looks instead of music in the seduction of both Christine and his audience, and I feel that any girl who would read the original novel by Gaston Leroux or see ALW's actual stage version (where extremely talented Broadway and West End actors play the parts, not random Hollywood celebrities) you would understand how The Phantom is so much more than just sex appeal. Even Rodger Ebert said he thought the film lacked merit because Gerry was 'too good looking' to play the part. Erik is supposed to be creepy, supposed to make you think twice about running into his arms. Just look at ALW's lyrics from Love Never Dies: "Wildly my mind beats against you, but the soul obeys..."

The whole point of Phantom is the climax of passion and love overcoming physical attractiveness and that annoying nagging sensation in your head. It is about, as the director of the musical Harold Prince said, "The sexuality of freaks." Not the sex appeal of an attractive Hollywood celebrity and his fan girls. Nothing against Gerry, he seems like a nice guy, but I just believe ALW and Hollywood should've stuck to the roots of the musical instead of worrying about catering to the box office. Yes, this movie was good to someone who'd never seen the stage version (a.k.a. me when I was in fifth grade), but I sincerely feel like they missed out on the whole point. Anyone who disagrees should invest in the film version of the show's 25th Anniversary at the RAH (Which, Thank the Lord, ALW and Harold Prince filmed). Showing, here: http://www.amazon.com/Phantom-Opera-Royal-Albert-Hall/dp/B005SFR7YE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323652841&sr=8-1 (Kudos to anyone who got the Phantom joke). Also, this section of the website is dedicated to BOOKS, then Phantom of the Opera. Gerry was not in the book. So true fans of Erik and Christine should be welcome here.

Differences aside, Just wanted to say that I did truly love this fanfic. No matter which actor you support, I think we can all agree that this author brought out the sex appeal in the disfigured, heartbreakingly beautiful genius we all love so much. Kudos.

PS: Anyone who actually read this might want to check out Michael Crawford's or Ramin Karimloo's versions of "Music of Night" on youtube. Close your eyes and listen. Just Lose yourself to the music. You won't be disappointed.

My god, woman, you know how to make a girl fanstasy come to life in written words. That would be the kind of fanstasy Erik and I would have. Gerard Butler played a great Erik no matter what anybody says and I am speaking for myself but I give your story a 10 out of 10. Please write more.

I hate Gerard Butler. He has fucked up The Phantom forever.

Oh, GOD, don't tell me you peolpe are Erik/Christine shippers as well? When you post a fic, it's always bound to be flamed... GET USED TO IT! They could have given the man more voice lessons. By Eru, Erik... Gerard... no words. Gag me with a sock *Disclaimer: that phrase belongs to my one and only best friend [name nondisclosed].

I've just seen that comment about G.B. - he did not fuck up his part - not at all! In fact, he was a perfect Erik - wild, arrogant, full of hatred and rage, ready to murder - and yet hungry for beauty and love. And G.B. did a great job in portraying this.
