I like the story's plot. I noted a "then"/"than" confusion and a few other errors, but the pairing of Mother/Phule works nicely and seems appropriate to what I remember from reading the books.

Oh...thanks ever so much for this. I've always wanted to read Phule fanfiction, but I've never found any until this one.
The characterization was spot-on - allowing for the fact that Asprin's characters are kind of 2d, while you have fluffed them out to 3d, but without making them feel wrong. I especially liked how you handled Phule. He's just as interesting and cute as in the book =)
