I've never read Dark Visions so I don't know if Gabriel is OOC or not, but Julian felt like the same old manipulative Shadow Man to me (this isn't the first time he's pretended to be someone else to get what he wants). Was there a lack of details? I didn't even notice. The writing is good. And the scene jumping isn't drastic enough to disrupt the story. Actually, for me it wasn't even a problem. I felt the scenes flowed together without breaking the pace of the story/smut.
