Summary: A girl sneaks into the Chocolate factory and takes on more than she bargained for. WARNING: Dark fic. M/F, N/C and all that fun stuff
“Go ahead, I dare you,” the boy raised his snooty nose at Laila. “It’s impossible and you won’t be able to do it. No one has even seen the inside of that place for years! What makes you so sure you’ll get inside?”
“Because,” Laila said quietly and then flashed him a grin. “I’m a spy!”
“A spy!?” the boy scoffed incredulously. “You’re nothing but a rich little prat like me. If you’re a spy, then I’m the Queen of England!”
“Pleased to meet you, your majesty,” Laila bowed low and then giggled. “Come on Simon, I’m so.....bored! Aren’t you bored?!”
“No I am not bored!” the boy named Simon turned irritated green eyes towards her. “We have everything we could ever want in the world and you’re trying to get yourself killed by breaking inside some chocolate factory? Why don’t you just ask daddy to take you to the Hershey factory. They at least have tours and give you sweets at the end.”
“I’ve already done all that!” she cried. “I want something new, something wild, crazy! Besides, I made daddy hire a man to teach me how to sneak and spy and all of that has not gone to waste, I assure you.”
“You’ve gone as mad as mummy,” Simon said plainly, “Pretty soon you’ll be popping Prozac like candy too.”
“Oh do shutup Simon!” Laila rolled her eyes. “I won’t end up like mummy! The worst that could happen is that maybe I’ll end up a bit of a fatty like daddy’s mistress. ”
“Which one?” Simon’s attention turned back to the book he was originally reading before his sister interrupted him.
“Oh you know, the fat one!”
“There are quite a few fat ones.”
“Well anyways, mummy has a personal trainer and I’ll just borrow him a few times to lose the extra weight,” Laila turned to the mirror and ran a hand through her dark long hair. With both hands, she piled it on top of her head and admired herself. “Besides, maybe Willy Wonka will fall in love with me.”
“Oh yes, “Simon coughed, but not taking his eyes off the book,” Because old men are prone to falling in love with spoiled little rich girls.”
She let her hair fall back to it usual place and looked back at him. “What do you mean? How do you know he’s old?”
“Laila, Laila, Laila,” her brother sighed, “Our family’s inbreeding has truly caught up, hasn’t it? Think logically. Wonka’s candy has been selling for the past 50 or so years and the man was in his 20's at that time! He’s probably aged into a stinky old fart. A stinky old fart with bad teeth at that.”
“Well maybe his attractive young son owns the factory now?” Laila turned back to the mirror dreamily.
“Wonka was never married nor did he ever have children,” Simon drawled. “Not to my knowledge anyway.”
“Well what if he does fall in love with me and gives me his factory?” Laila brushed away a few dark strands that threatened to fall into her eyes. She did like to look at herself quite often and her rooms were adorned with mirrors from every single country on Earth. “Even if he is an old man, he’ll die eventually, won’t he? And then I can keep the factory for myself! Wouldn’t that be brilliant?!”
“You’re mad,” Simon sighed in frustration and got up to leave the room.
“Wait!” Laila cried, running to the door and closing it. “Won’t you go with me?”
“Go where?” Simon asked, sounding very annoyed.
“Into the factory!” Laila clasped her hands together and forced her large green eyes to droop slightly in sadness.
“No I will not, “he said. “Now kindly remove yourself from my path.”
“Oh but Simon, it would be so great if you went along!” Laila cried. “Think about it! All the candy and chocolate we could ever want!”
“Laila, my dear sister,” Simon put a gentle hand on her shoulder and gently shook her. “We’re almost 16 now. We should be thinking of bigger and better things like marriage and school and next week’s cricket match. Instead, you’re still stuck in your childish world of chocolate and sweets and all that rubbish! Grow up Laila!” He pushed past her and walked away down the long hallway.
“So you’re making me go by myself?” She called tearfully after him. Simon stopped. “No, I’m not making you go by yourself. I’m not making you go at all. In fact, I think it’s a bloody stupid idea and I wish you wouldn’t go at all.”
“Well I’m going with or without you Simon,” Laila said. “But I really wish you would be there to support me and protect me, just like I’ve always done for you.”
Simon closed his eyes and breathed in. Laila had done a lot for him. She had often acted as the mother he wished he had and gave him support that no one else would. But his ideas were always rational! This, this scheme, was no less than a petty crime! No way he would be involved in something like that and tarnish his name, no way!
“Fine I’ll go,” Simon turned, his shoulders slacking and then continued walking down the hall. “We probably won’t get in anyway.” Behind him, Laila squeeled with joy.
She wore tight black pants, a turtle neck, and a beret.
“You look so cliche,” Simon rolled his eyes as they drove out of the gates of the enormous mansion.
“Hey at least I’m dressing as well as acting the part,” Laila snapped. “At least I brought this peace of junk so we wouldn’t look too suspicious. Who would suspect a little black porsche? And it’s an old fashioned one too. And look at what you’re wearing! That’s not something someone would wear to go sneaking in.”
Simon wore jeans and a sweat shirt.
“It’s a bloody factory, Laila,” he gritted out. “We’re not sneaking into the bloody palace of the queen of England!”
“What’s with you and the queen of England?” Laila turned to him curiously while still trying to pay attention to the road.
“Nothing,” Simon sighed. “Listen, I told daddy we’d be gone for a few days just in case something goes down but that’s all we have. So don’t push your luck.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” she asked.
“Just drive woman,” Simon leaned back into the black leather seat and turned his head to the window. He had a bad feeling about this.
They checked into a hotel within walking distance of the factory. As they drove by it, they watched it rise up like a huge white industrial castle.
Laila watched it out of the hotel window.
“I wonder what he’s doing at this very moment,” she thought outloud.
“Probably wanking himself,” Simon muttered and ignored the furious look he gained from his sister.
“You know, you’re really starting to ruin this for me,” she said angrily. “This is supposed to be serious! And an adventure!”
“Whatever,” he waved her away and turned on the tv. Laila crossed her arms across her chest and went to join her brother on the bed.
“Well at least let me run the plan by you,” she said and watched him for a reaction. He said nothing and continued to stare into the television. “The gates open at precisely 5 in the morning to let the trucks out and while they are doing that, we will slip inside and explore the factory. After a few hours of eating candy, we’ll go home. I’m sure no one will even notice.”
“And what will we do once we get into the actual threshold?” Simon finally spoke. “I mean, just because we get past the gates doesn’t mean that we’re in the clear.” He almost cursed himself for saying that last phrase “in the clear” but Laila’s eyes lit up instantly. Oh LORD he just encouraged her.
“We’ll ask someone who works there!” she said excitedly. “I mean, obviously people work there. How do you think they stock the trucks and take care of the machines?”
Simon didn’t say anything the rest of the night. Laila set the alarm early and then both went to sleep, cozy in their beds while it started to snow quite heavily outside.
EEP! EEP!!!! EEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The alarm steadily grew louder until both were forced to wake up and get ready for their adventure (or Laila’s adventure in Simon’s case). Laila wore another set of black spy clothes topped with a beret. The clothes from the previous night lay in a heap on the bathroom floor.
She pulled her hair into a bun, made herself pretty, and donned some perfume on (just in case Mr. Wonka fell in love with her) and skipped happily out the door, followed by her grumpy brother who was in a rather foul mood. He wore the same thing he had worn yesterday because he did not bring a change of clothes and unlike her, could not care less if he looked nice for some old bloke with bad teeth who wanks off in a chocolate factory (and he certainly did not care if Mr. Wonka fell in love with him).
They ran down the street and waited, crouching down next to the gate . He looked at his watch, only 2 minutes till the gates open. Laila was beside herself, fidgeting and biting her hand nervously.
Suddenly the gates swung open and a barrage of trucks bearing the Wonka design drove out. Laila and Simon waited for the opprotune moment and then slipped through quickly and then ducking behind a little car.
The little car was very curious and both were left wondering to whom could such a tiny vehicle prove useful. No child of above the usual recommended age could fit into it and yet it looked like a minature version of the cars that were usually driven in the streets. Except, of course, that it was unusually small.
Ducking low, they saw a door left slightly ajar and ran for it, rushing inside and out of the cold that stung and flushed their faces. The door slammed shut and they were suddenly engulfed in darkness.
“Ow! Simon!” Laila cried. “You’re stepping on my foot, you dolt!”
“Well you’re stepping on mine!” Simon growled. “And besides, it’s dark!”
“There’s got to be a switch in here,” Laila said, running her hands up and down the wall near the door. She suddenly felt the portrusion of a button and pushed it.
Lights immediately went on to reveal a particularly large, white and empty room. There was a door on the other side and Laila immediately started walking towards it.
“Wait a moment, Laila,” the boy warned, grabbing her arm. “You don’t know what’s on the either side of that door. We can’t just go in barging.” Laila’s expression brightened.
She was such a contrast to the room, wearing all black.
“You’re absolutely right, Simon!” Laila smiled. “We should be sneaking!”
“And keep your voice down,” Simon whispered. “You don’t know if there are cameras in here.”
Unbeknownst to both siblings was that there were cameras in the room and that their every movement was being watched. Unbeknownst to them as well was that they could probably have eaten through the wall to get to the other side since the room was in fact made of marshmallows but there was no way either of them could have figured that one out.
Sneaking up to the door, Laila turned the surprisingly squishy doorknob and walked into...........yet another large, white and empty room. They both sighed and then walked to the next door.
To their relief, this door opened to reveal a long blue sweet-smelling corridor with a large pink door at the end. It had no doorknob, however.
Simon studied the door for a second and Laila, without thinking, pushed it open to reveal a most wondrous sight. There were lollipop trees and a chocolate waterfall and the air smelled good enough to eat and so much more! Her stomach rumbled and she ran to the nearest tree which made caramel apples.
Her hand reached out to touch one but she was instantly pulled back.
“Don’t even think about it,” Simon glared at her.
“Are you bloody insane?!” she pulled away from him. “We got it this far and you think we shouldn’t get a reward? In fact, I deserve it much more than you do! It was my idea!”
This time, she walked down to the river back and stuck her finger in and brought it to her mouth. The taste of it was so good and smiled at herself.
She turned to tell Simon to try some of the chocolate from the chocolate river, but stopped herself. In Simon’s place stood a tall handsome man with a top hat. With the taste of the sweet chocolate still lingering in her mouth, she licked her lips and she stood up. Laila gave him her best smile and said, “Hello, my name is-.“
“Err little girl, I don’t care,” he cut in. “But I do care to know why you’re sticking your small skinny fingers in my chocolate river.” He was grinning happily at her, waiting for a response.
For the first time in her life, Laila was rendered quite speechless.
“Well, I-,” Laila’s mouth sought to find words. She was usually so good at this type of thing. She could charm her way out of any situation, but for now, she just couldn’t seem to do it.
“Little girl, there’s only a limited amount of time before this smile will start to fade,” the man said, yet continued to grin. “Smiles don’t last very long, you know, contrary to what other people might think.”
“I wanted to see your factory,” Laila said in a hushed tone, casting her eyes down.
“Oh is that all?” the man giggled. “Because here I thought you were breaking into my factory to try and steal my recipes and perhaps a few Oompa Loompas. Silly me!”
“Oompa-Loompas?” Laila looked up at him questioningly. “What is that?”
“Oh, just a few foreign friends who work for me,” the man grinned.
“And you must be Willy Wonka’s son?” Laila said, looking up at him with questioning green eyes.
“No, small stupid person!” he laughed. It was the strangest laugh she had ever heard. “I’m Willy Wonka!”
“You are?!” Laila beamed. “But I thought you were over 70 years old!”
“Oh,” Willy Wonka said, as if surprised. “Well you’re wrong. Very very wrong.”
“Oh,” Laila said, a bit dumbstruck at his bluntness, “well alright, but can you tell me where my brother is? He was standing right there before- “
“Oh don’t worry about him,” the man turned around, and waved a purple gloved hand, “You on the other hand.” He suddenly spun towards her again, his eyes set on her. “We have some business to take care of, don’t we? Come along.”
“But...but I’m not supposed to go anywhere with strangers!” Laila protested.
“Well I’m no stranger, silly,” Willy Wonka grinned at her, “I’m Willy Wonka!”
“Oh,” she was dumbstruck once more and in her confusion, quietly followed him and tried to make sense of what he had just said.
