Hey everybody! I just wanted to let you all know that didn't write the series this story is based off of by Stephenie Meyer and I own nothing that has to do with the series. I do however own my very first written OFC (Orignal Female Character) Ana Michaels. I would also like to give credit to my beta Jenna for reading this and thinking that it was alright and in a way cute. Because this is my first story with an OFC or an OC in general, I would love for everybody to give me some feedback and let me know what they think, it's very important to me. Thanks ever so much for taking the time to read and I hope you enjoy this story and the future chapers to come.
Chapter One
Fantastic, this is exactly what she wanted to be doing right then, walking into a classroom full of people that she didn’t know at almost the end of the year. The friends she did have were left in California along the sandy beeches with its sweltering heat, beautiful swells, and plenty of surfing. And here she was in Forks Washington, one of the wettest places in the great US of A, walking into what she was sure to be her own personal hell with nothing more then an umbrella and a rain jacket. Great, grand, fantastic, superb!
It being her first day she had to make a stop at the front office to get her schedule. The overenthusiastic secretary made sure she explained everything for her and she even marked on a piece paper with pink highlighter where the bathrooms were. By the time the new student finally escaped she was ten minutes late and had a tardy slip in her pocket explaining why she was running a little behind schedule. As she walked toward her first class she was nothing more then a black clad figure against the dark grey sky. The rain, that had been a mere drizzle, was coming down in sheets of pouring droplets pounding at the top of her open umbrella. Her long brown hair was blowing about her like a silken curtain playing on the currents of wind that had teased them out from under her hood. With a sigh she grabbed the handle of the English classroom’s door and pulled it open.
As she had expected everybody turned their attention on her instantaneously. She tried her best to ignore their curious gazes and hung up her coat. The teacher motioned her forward and she complied reluctantly. She was already the center of attention and didn’t need to draw out the unwanted interest by standing before the class for the teacher.
As she walked to the front of the classroom one of the girls of the student body giggled as she passed. Self-consciously she looked down at what she had chosen to wear for the day. She didn’t have much of a wardrobe that could be worn in cold weather and until she got the chance to shop her clothing selection was for warm weather only. The top she had chosen was a Tierra and Orange privacy repeat tee that had PRVCY CA written on the front along with a winged crown and CALIFORNIA on a banner, it looked nice against her tanned skin. Her jeans were black denim YMIs and the black leather boots she wore were Kaya Charli. All together she thought it all looked good together and yet she doubted her decision as she passed by another row of people. Secretly she stole a look around the room to see what everybody else was wearing. Most wore plain tees, jeans, and sneakers. Then it hit her, perhaps she was overdressed.
The teacher signed the stupid piece of paper that she was supposed to hand over to the secretary at the end of the day and then he pointed her to an open seat beside a breathtaking dark haired girl. As she made my way to the open chair she stared upon the girl’s features unable to pull her eyes away from her. The dark haired girl glanced up at her from beside a blond haired boy with dark mesmerizing eyes. Quickly she glanced at the chair that was to be her new seat for the rest of the year. Setting her backpack down on the floor she slipped into her seat with red cheeks. The girl and the boy gave her quick small smiles and then turned their attention elsewhere. Not knowing what to say she tried to keep her attention on the teacher. He droned on about some piece of literature that was written by Shakespeare and the girl’s attention seemed to slip back to her neighbors repeatedly.
Both were extremely beautiful as they sat talking quietly amongst themselves. The girl was very small and delicate. Her short hair was spiked artfully in all different directions and her makeup was done perfectly as if it had been professionally done. The boy was much taller then she was and in his own way he was just as beautiful as she was. His hand, where it held hers in her lap, easily engulfed both of her delicate hands. Both had perfect beautiful skin and both had dark eyes. It was easy to get lost in thought while staring at them and she did just that. Absently she ran my fingers through her brown locks of hair and stared.
Suddenly the dark haired girl turned her attention toward the newcomer and there was a beautiful white smile directed in her direction. She leaned over and said, “That’s Roxy perfume you’re wearing.”
For a moment she was at a loss of words and then, as if waking from a trance, she murmured, “Ahem…yes is it. It’s one of my favorites.”
“Really, mine too,” her eyes sparkled momentarily and then her hand shot out, “Where are my manners? I’m Alice Cullen.”
“Oh,” the new girl mumbled lamely and shook Alice’s cold hand, “I’m Ana Michaels.”
“It’s very nice to meet you Ana. Oh, and this is Jasper Hale.” Alice motioned to the guy sitting beside her. Ana leaned a little to the side so she could see him and then gave him an absurd looking wave. Jasper nodded at Ana in acknowledgement. “So where did you move from?”
Ana dreaded moving to new schools. She’d known that the kids of Forks were going to asked her a hundred times where she had come from and what it had been like in California. Her mother had told her that Forks was a town where everybody knew everybody else. Surely a town where gossip spread like wildfire and people looked down on outsiders. By the end of the day Ana was sure everybody would know where she was from, what she ate at lunch, what she put in her backpack, and why her family moved to this rain gathering ditch of a town.
“I’m from California, born and raised, well until now anyways.” Jasper chuckled quietly and Ana felt the sudden urge to giggle as well. The only oddity about that was that she didn’t find moving here funny in the least. Nor did she think it amusing that she had to leave California or her friends.
Alice nodded sympathetically, “I know what you’re going through. My family’s moved at least a hundred times and when they finally decided to settle they chose this little town in the mountains.”
“I don’t see what’s so appealing about it. I heard all that it ever does is snow and rain.” Ana rolled her eyes at the thought and glanced at her watched. Class was almost over, great one class down six more periods to go, woo woo progress!
The pixie-like girl shrugged thoughtfully, “It’s not so bad after you get used to it. The weather can be really relaxing at times.”
“Sure if you say so…” The bell rang loudly and Ana heaved a sigh as she got to her feet. She took her new English book and homework and shoved it into her backpack before turning to get her coat and umbrella.
“I don’t just say so, I know so. Last year this girl, who’s dating my brother Edward, moved here from Arizona and she hated it too. But she’s got used to it and it seems as if she doesn’t even notice it anymore.” Alice handed Ana her backpack after Ana had finished slipping her coat on. Jasper stood behind Alice and waited patiently. He reminded Ana of a large silent jungle cat that was stalking a very small choice of prey, only not so dangerous.
“Poor thing, I know what she was feeling.” Ana popped her umbrella open as they left the classroom together.
Alice grabbed her arm and pulled her to a stop. The students filing out of the room behind them grumbled about being in the way. She completely ignored them, “Where is your next class?”
“Ugh…French.” Ana said dramatically. She hated having to learn a foreign language, but her parents and obviously the school board of Forks high, thought a second language was extremely important.
“We can show you the way; we’ve got French next too.” Alice spoke cheerfully.
“Merci beaucoup.” Ana murmured gratefully.
“Vous êtes bienvenu, maintenant venu dessus laisse aller!” Alice said, than burst out giggling when she saw that Ana wasn’t following. “I said your welcome, now come on let’s go.”
Things had gone so well for the majority of the morning. Many of the students were friendly and curious; two things that made Ana want to cringe. And, though she wanted them to leave her alone, she was nothing but polite to them. Ana learned quickly that one could drown in their curiosity and was a little saddened that Alice and Jasper seemed to leak away from her as she gathered more and more unwanted attention. Eventually she was so bombarded by questions and inquiries she didn’t notice where they disappeared to after French. They weren’t in her government class and she was saddened that she had to sit amongst yet another group of curious people.
By lunch time she was tired of being asked the same questions again and again. If she was asked one more time what it was like to surf the sandy beaches of the California Coast she promised herself that she would stab somebody with one of the lunch room sporks. If things came down to it she could hide in her Toyota Tacoma during lunch so that she could have some time to herself. Disgruntled she bought her lunch from the school cafeteria and looked for someplace quiet to sit. There was nothing. Most of the tables were filled with jabbering people and there wasn’t a table where somebody who was sitting there hadn’t played twenty-one questions with her. Except one. At the far end of the cafeteria there was a table that was mostly empty. At one end there was a group of people and she instantly recognized Alice and Jasper. They sat with four other people as well and as she looked over them she noticed that they were all very nice looking people. They were all somehow the same and different except one of them. She sat beside a tall lanky boy with bronze colored hair. She herself was very pretty, but she didn’t quite seem to fit with them.
Ana was about to go and sit with them when she remember that Alice and Jasper has slipped away from her earlier that morning. Perhaps they didn’t enjoy my company and wanted me to leave them alone. I don’t want to impose on them if they don’t like me. I really don’t need to make a bigger ass of myself by hanging out with people who don’t want to be friends, she thought. Quietly she decided that she should go and sit in her truck.
She hurried toward to door so that she wasn’t motioned over to sit beside somebody that had annoyed her. The sooner Ana escaped the better off she was. She didn’t want to become violent, not now, not after she had been equipped with her spork. Suspension on the first day because she tried stabbing somebody in the throat didn’t sound like a good way to make an impression. Making it to the door Ana was almost out when she was taken by the arm for the second time that day.
Holding my arm was the girl that didn’t seem to fit at the end table. She was smiling at Ana and her brown eyes held nothing but kindness in them. Ana hadn’t seen her all day long so far and now she stood there holding her arm and saying nothing, at first.
“Hey, where are you going?” she asked interestedly.
Ana looked out of the door and nodded her head toward the parking lot, “I was going to go and eat my lunch.”
She scowled momentarily, “What in your car?”
“No, in the rain,” Ana mutter sarcastically before she thought about what she was saying. Instantly Ana felt like a jerk for being a smartass and she was about to apologize to the unknown person when she started laughing at her. Ana grinned, not knowing why, “What?”
“It’s been a while since I’ve talked to somebody who has the traits of a true smartass. Sarcasm maybe, but it’s been a while for the impertinence. Come on, you can come and sit with us.” She said pulling Ana toward her table.
Ana pulled away from her and shook her head, “I don’t think your friends like me.”
“What are you talking about? Alice and Jasper?” Ana nodded her head and the unknown girl shook her head that Ana was wrong, “Alice asked me to come and get you so you can hang out with us.”
“But earlier they ditched me.”
She snorted and grabbed Ana’s arm again. Over her shoulder Ana heard, “They just don’t like large groups of people normally. Especially Jasper.”
As the two girls approached the table Alice looked up and smiled, “Thanks Bella.”
Ana looked at both girls unsure of why this girl, Bella, was being thanked. Where they glad that Bella had caught up with her? Unsure she sat down across from Jasper, beside Bella, and looked around the table. There really was something eerie about the small group, something Ana couldn’t put her finger on.
“How was your government class?” Alice asked.
Ana answer automatically not thinking anything about how Alice knew which class she’d had last, “It was boring, I don’t think that the teacher could have been lamer. He talks like Ben Stein and I almost fell asleep twice.”
A few of the people around the table laughed. She was a little uncomfortable not knowing who it was that she was talking to. Just as she was looking at the bronze haired boy he smiled and said, “I’m Edward Cullen. It seems that Alice didn’t feel like introducing us. This is Emmett, mine and Alice’s brother. You already know Jasper and that right there is his twin sister Rosalie Hale, and this beautiful girl right here is Bella Swan.”
“You’re all family and you have different last names?” Ana asked curiously as she began picking at her lunch.
Jasper finally spoke, “We’re all adopted, from two different families, except for Bella. She’s part of the family, but she isn’t our adoptive sister.” Everybody grew quiet and looked around and not at each other either.
Ana felt a little uncomfortable, thinking she’d hit a topic that made them uncomfortable She stopped talking and pulled out her laptop computer. Bella munched her carrots beside her and watched as she loaded the computer onto the internet and began surfing for information.
What are you looking for?” Bella questioned curiously.
The new girl was quiet for a moment, biting her lip, and then she mumbled, “Vampire information.”
Bella, who had been taking a drink of her Coke, chocked and spit soda all over, “You’re looking up vampires?”
“Yeah, I’m writing a book and it’s about vampires. I’ve always had an odd interest for vampires and other preternatural creepies.” Ana said innocently. She never took her eyes off of the screen and she didn’t notice the worried look that passed around the table.
