Renesmee
Chapter One
It was Renesmee’s seventh birthday and rather than a cake with a princess and sparklers, she had opted for a quiet family soiree. At seven years she had reached the peak of her growth, she looked to most like a twenty two year old girl not a seven year old child. She sighed; sometimes she wished she’d had a normal childhood, when she watched the children in the park playing on the swings, their minds devoid of any fearful emotion, completely innocent. But she would never have changed her life when she thought about it, she loved her mother immensely and the bond they shared was beyond any human bonds. Her father was just as important to her; he treated her with almost as much devotion as he treated his wife. Their inner family was so closely knit it was impossible to miss. Renesmee was a comfortable mix of both her parents which nobody could escape.
“Renesmee will you please let me organise this?” Renesmee shot a smile at her Aunty Alice; she was stood in the living room doorway with a petulant look on her face, hands firmly planted on her hips. Renesmee had every intention of letting her organise it but she was content to play with her for a little while and she was adept at making sure none of her decisions could be seen in Alice’s future. She was carefully constructing a future for Alice which was causing the tiny vampire quite some distress, she hated a party to go wrong and the one she though Renesmee was planning was terribly wrong.
“Aunty Alice, you always organise everything and just this once I want to organise my own party, besides how could it go wrong, I think the black roses will look beautiful on the walls.” Alice groaned in horror, her eyes drifting between the room and the future she was dreading.
“Where’s Jacob?” Renesmee enquired of her Aunt in an attempt to take her mind of the approaching soiree. Alice groaned,
“You know I can’t see him, even if I tried looking in the future he’d block me, why don’t you go find him, you run faster than most of us, or I’m sure Daddy will let you borrow the Porsche.” Renesmee winced and Alice laughed, “Oh yes I forgot, you already wrapped that one around a tree.”
“Alice if you get prissy every time someone says no to you then I’ll have to avoid you,” Alice shot Renesmee a look of venom and muttered to herself before stalking off. Renesmee simply chuckled.
“Nessie,” Renesmee turned slowly to meet her mother who had come into the room behind her, “try not to goad your Aunt, Alice only means to give you the best.”
“Momma, you know what she’ll do, I don’t want anything big but you can guarantee it’ll be bigger than I’d plan it.” Isabella Swan chuckled.
“She did that to me many times, its only fair you should get it to,” with that she changed the subject,
“Your father and I are going hunting, would you like to join us?” Renesmee contemplated that, she had just finished a glass of exquisitely chilled wild lion’s blood, besides she wanted to see Jacob.
“If you don’t mind I was planning on hanging out with Jacob today.” Nessie nodded,
“He didn’t mention that to me,” Bella’s acute vision studied her daughters face, she constantly wondered if her daughter was starting to respond to the imprinting thing that the spirit wolves were susceptible to.
“He doesn’t know yet, I thought I’d crash round and make him do some shopping, well … carry my bags.” Bella frowned at this idea,
“Your father will not like that, you were supposed to find some money to pay him back for the Porsche you wrapped so thoroughly around that tree last week. You shouldn’t be tricking Jacob into buying you presents all the time.” Renesmee rolled her eyes,
“Actually that’s what I was hoping he’d help me with, I was going to choose a new car but I wasn’t sure what Dad would most appreciate. I never liked the Porsche so I thought I’d get something different.”
“Well just don’t make Jacob pay for it,” Bella warned her daughter with a raised eyebrow and set lips which clearly told her daughter she was not to take advantage.
“I won’t Momma,” she kissed her mother gently on the cheek and danced through to the kitchen.
“Alice, you don’t think you could help me make the cake do you? I was thinking of making it look like a pool of blood, since blood is so desirable to all our family, except maybe grandpa and Jacob.” Alice spun from the vase of flowers she was re-arranging and glared at her niece.
“Do not push me Renesmee; I am on the verge of tying you up somewhere far away and taking over the whole thing.” Renesmee was a good enough actress to feign hurt shock, Alice rolled her eyes and glared in return. Such a fierce glare for such a little person.
“Well I guess I should just let you do it then, since I’m going to make such a mess of it,” Alice leapt five feet into the air and milliseconds later was crushing Nessie in a hug.
“Oh thank you, I promise I wont go too overboard,” Nessie chuckled,
“You better not or I won’t turn up to my own party.”
Alice barely heard, she only had a few hours, the party was supposed to be tonight. Renesmee shook her head and left the house before she could be cornered for dress fittings or any such nonsense. She ran through the trees with delight, it was a warm day although the cloud cover made Forks bleak. She crossed the old treaty line into La Push without a thought; the line had long since been dissolved for the sake of the close treaty between the wolves and the Cullen vampires. Embry and Quill loped up on either side of her and she raised a finger to her lips,
“Don’t tell him I’m on my way.” They barked their laughter and dissolved back into the trees, she was only seconds away from Billy’s house where she knew Jacob was probably fast asleep, he usually was. For someone so huge and so strong who ate like an elephant, he sure did sleep a lot.
Billy waved at her as she let herself in the front door; Jacob had given her a key as soon as she was big enough to run away, which she had done once when she was trying to find him.
“He’s upstairs,” Renesmee nodded, she spoke well enough with her family but she preferred to be quiet and communicate as little as possible, sometimes she didn’t bother at all and simply touched her hand to whomever she wanted to converse with, this allowed them to see what she was thinking, she could project a conversation through images directly into their head. She was at the top of the stairs and she could hear him now, his snoring was so loud it made her delicate ears wince. She hated listening to it when she was awake but in all the years she had slept near him, especially in those first weeks of her life when they had been in trouble with the Volturi, she had never been woken by his snores.
She placed a hand on his cheek, projecting a bucket of cold water about to splash down on him, he jumped violently awake and slapped her hand away. Renesmee did not feel pain or fear from his reaction but laughed, she liked to shock him awake in such a way. She amused herself that this was her playful grip on her short childhood.
“Renesmee, I swear if you do that again I will chase you all the way to Canada.”
“And I will beat you back again by a good hour.” She said it seriously, she had heard this before when she startled him, and she was the faster runner, so she could run to and from Canada much quicker than he could.
“What did you want anyway?” he asked suspiciously,
“Well, I fancied some shopping.” Jacob groaned,
“Nessie, I love spending time with you, I really do, but must we always go shopping? You want to do cliff diving, like your mum used to, why don’t we do that?”
“Its no ordinary shopping trip this time, I need your car expertise.” She smiled, not the smile she had shown Alice, but her most beguiling smile which unbeknownst to her, he could never resist, even if he wanted to.
“Why would you need to buy a car?” he asked the question even as he realised why, “To replace Edwards crushed Porsche.” He burst into laughter again, he couldn’t help it, he had been so worried when they’d heard it crash from the living room but now he could only laugh, remembering her face as she looked through the broken windscreen in obvious annoyance. When they had pulled her out, she had not even a scratch, it was only when she accidently brushed past Alice whilst thinking about the accident that we realised why she was annoyed. She had been thinking that the bloody thing did it on purpose and wouldn’t get off the bloody tree because it was such a rubbish car.
Edward had not been amused, in his odd fatherly manner he sent her running to her bedroom to spend the rest of the day contemplating ways she could get him the money for a new car. Of course everyone knew Edward could easily replace it ten times over but that was not the point, she was becoming an adult and she needed to understand the importance of respecting ones property.
“Oi, Jacob, back to me please.” He pulled his thoughts away from the memories and returned his attention to Renesmee,
“Will you help me?” her voice was pleading.
“Of course, but its pretty simple buying a car Nessie,” he replied.
“Yes but I don’t know what car to get him, what he’d like.”
Jacob and Edward shared a confusing relationship, although both were fiercely loyal to the other, they sought ways of having a laugh at each others expense. It kept life interesting and it had been their way of bonding after things had settled down. Now Jacob had a brilliant idea, but could he pull Renesmee in or would she be hurt if it went belly up.
“Say Nessie, how do you fancy playing a wonderfully funny but at the same time sweet joke on your Dad?” Nessie was interested; something about Jacob’s playful and mischievous personality always inspired her to join in.
“Well, why not?” they chuckled together then and Jacob pulled her into a fierce hug, breathing her in as he did, how much he loved this impish little girl. Although, she actually wasn’t so little anymore, he reflected quietly as he followed her back downstairs. He caught a glance at her bum in her tight jeans and refused to let himself think about how nice it looked, he couldn’t be sure she was ready for them yet and he wasn’t going to force this. He wanted her to fall in love with him of her own accord and since he saw her every day whether for hours on end or just ten fleeting minutes, he suspected it might be sooner rather than later. He hoped at the very least. Now that would piss Edward off, he chuckled but didn’t explain to her raised eyebrow.
Thanks for reading guys, the next chapter will be longer and you’ll find out what happens at the soiree and how Edward likes his … gift!
Please don’t be too harsh on me; I haven’t written anything in such a long time, I’m easing back into it! Thanks in advance for any comments you might make though!
