Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Heroes of Olympus, or any of the characters. Also, as much as I would like to make money from this, I don't. |
OK, so this is my first story on this site. I have written Percy Jackson and the Olympians Fan-fiction in the past, but it is pretty PG/PG-13 and involves using my own OC's instead of actual characters from the book. Anyway, the first chapter here kind of sets up the rest of the story. This story takes place after the events of The Heroes of Olympus, so none of the events effect the real story. Also this story does have a very lose plot, but it isn't like I'm just going to have a bunch of unrelated stories (not that there is anything wrong with that).
Anyway like I said, no smut this chapter, reviews are appreciated, and thank you for reading. Also as a side note, I am going on vacation for Christmas to an area with little to no internet so I won't be posting new chapters until after New Years. It had been about three days since Aphrodite, the goddess of love, had appeared before Percy Jackson. However, instantly Percy knew that something was wrong as the goddess had her face covered in a dark veil that not even her radiant beauty could shine threw. She told Percy that an item had been lost and without it, Olympus itself could fall into chaos. Percy obviously had to accept, but Aphrodite made him promise he couldn’t tell anyone about this or take his friends with him, not even his girlfriend Annabeth.
So for three days Percy was forced to run around New York City looking for the lost item. While Aphrodite hadn’t told him what it was exactly, maybe in fear that it could be used against the gods somehow, she did tell him that it fell from Olympus and a gryphon and grabbed it out of the air. Percy remembered the last time he had run across gryphons in Alaska, which wasn’t a pleasant experience for everyone involved. After every attempt to find the gryphon failed, he decided it was time to use his brain and set a trap. He went to a local store that specialized in stones and gems. While Percy wasn’t rich enough to buy gold, there was a rock called pyrite that looked a lot like gold, but was worth practically nothing. He bought a pile of the stuff and placed it on the roof of a building directly in the sunlight. He then called his trusted pegasus Blackjack and waited. “This is so boring Boss,” Blackjack complained in Percy’s mind. “Can’t we go grab some donuts instead?” “Later Blackjack,” Percy told him. “I’m on a mission from the gods and I can’t mess this up.” Just then a large bird flew out of the sky and Percy knew that it was the gryphon. It landed on the roof and walked cautiously to the pile of rocks before looking around. Percy and Blackjack stayed out of site and the gryphon took the bait, lowering his head and placing the rocks in his beak before flying off. “Blackjack, now!” Percy ordered and the large pegasus extended his wings and flew into the air. The followed the bird all over New York and Percy quickly wondered how much the Mist could actually hide. The gryphon finally landed on the roof of the Museum of Natural History, so Percy and Blackjack flew in low as to not be seen. Percy jumped off and thanked Blackjack for the lift before sending him away, as Percy knew where the nest was now. He pulled out Riptide from his pocket and took the cap off, causing the sword to grow to full form. The gryphon however heard the sound and looked over only to see Percy moving toward him. The gryphon lunged at Percy, but he managed to slash the monster in two as it turned to dust. “Well, that was easy,” Percy commented. While a swarm of gryphons that constantly reform was hard as Hades to beat, one by itself was surprisingly easy. He ran over to the nest and began looking at all the gold items, including a watch, a necklace, and even a small statue. It was then that he saw it. A small device that seemed to just glow as if it was not of this world. Percy picked it up and etched on the back was: Property of Aphrodite. Percy sent an Iris message to the love goddess and she appeared right before him a second later. “Oh please, please, give it here,” Aphrodite said as she held her hands out. Percy placed the small device in her hands and she pulled it close to her heart. “Thank you Percy Jackson for returning my mirror.” “What?” Percy said dumbfounded. No sooner had the words left his lips did Aphrodite open the small device to reveal that it was a small makeup kit with a mirror attached. Aphrodite took off the veil to show that she was…still beautiful. She took a small brush from the compact and covered a small spot on her face, but Percy didn’t notice any change. “Perfect!” Aphrodite said as she clapped her hand together with joy and returned the item to her pocket. “Thank you again Percy, I’ll be going now.” “Wait!” Percy yelled. “How exactly was that supposed to destroy Olympus?!” “Well without my beauty to look upon, the gods would get bored and maybe start another war. I am the one that keeps Ares in check you know,” Aphrodite explained, but Percy just wanted to smack his head into his hands. “So in that case, shouldn’t I get rewarded somehow? That’s normally the routine,” Percy told her. “Isn’t helping a beautiful young woman enough?” Aphrodite said, but clearly Percy was not amused. “Alright, I suppose you deserve something. I could give you the gift of…no, I couldn’t do that.” “Do what?” Percy said, obviously curious by this point. “A gift, something I haven’t given since before the Trojan War. I was so disappointed in how the last recipient used it that I have never given it away again. However, I did promise to make your love life interesting,” Aphrodite joked. At this, Percy was about to flat out refuse anything the love goddess was offering as his love life was interesting enough. However, before he could say anything else, Aphrodite had a finger to his forehead and he felt a shockwave run through him. “What did you do?” Percy asked as he stumbled backward. “You’ll see Percy Jackson, use my gift wisely,” she said before vanishing. ************************* So that's it for now, thank you for reading.
