Disclaimer: I do not own Twilight, and am not making any money from this story. |
A/N: Welcome (back)! To those of you who are new to this story, it takes place fourteen years after Breaking Dawn.
I'll warn you that at this moment, I'm not able to update on any kind of schedule, but I hope to get back to updating (at least) every other Sunday like I used to.
All three parts of this story were taken off of fanfiction dot net, because I guess I'm the only one who writes lemons. This is actually where the story was originally, so I've sort of decided to come home :) I decided to put up part III first, so that my readers who are not caught up can keep on reading. As of now (8/27/14) all I have written of part III is posted. So now I'm working on getting Part I, and then part II, up a little at a time. (Honestly though, III is my favorite part!) Excuse the odd spacing, that's just how they come out when I copy and paste unfortunately, and I know if I just leave it go I'll be able to get AGU back online much more quickly. Until then, it's like they don't exist to anybody but me, since I'm the only one who can see them and that makes me pretty sad to be honest.
There will be some catch up information in this first chapter, so I honestly think that if you are new to the series you will still find this enjoyable. Thanks for reading!
Renesmee
I rolled off of Jacob, and onto my back with a satisfied huff. He smoothed back the hair that was damp with perspiration and clinging to my face.
"Oh God," I gasped, as he curled his body around mine. "I really needed that."
"Me too," he panted.
We were both quiet until we caught our breath.
"Well, that's the last Alaska nookie," Jake said as he nuzzled my shoulder.
"I hate when you call it that!" I playfully scolded him, bumping him with my hip. "What are you, thirteen?"
Then again, don't all men still have a thirteen year old boy deep down inside?
I turned my voice deep and overly seductive. "It's called love making, Jacob."
"Fine then," his voice went all breathy. "That was the last time we'll make sweet, beautiful love together in the great state of Alaska..."
I covered his mouth with my hand as I laughed.
Truthfully though, he could call it whatever he wanted, as long as he didn't change a single thing about it. He looked at me smugly, like he knew I was thinking that.
"Besides, it's not like we'll never come back here," I pointed out. "We'll probably end up living here again someday,"
"True," he agreed. "It's not too bad up here."
The only thing left in our room was our mattress. That was just about the only thing left in the house, really. The kids were across the woods at the bigger house, spending one more night with their cousin Gabriel, and the rest of my family. They all had their own bedrooms over there, it had been their home away from home. In the morning though, we were going back to Washington to live on the rez. To say we'd all miss them was an understatement. But we'd really been missing our family in La Push for years.
Now that our kids were older, we wouldn't need as much help from those family members who were immortal and had limitless energy. All of my pregnancies had their moments when they were difficult, especially towards the end, and that goes double when I already had other little ones running around. Their help had been life saving.
Now it was time for us to be with the other half of our family. Our short people needed other kids to play with, even though they were rapidly growing up.
Anthony was close to eight years old, Swan was seven and a half, the twins Mollie and Alexandra, Xandra for short, an even seven. Bringing up the rear was Asa, at just over four years old. Obviously, I don't have normal human pregnancies. Like me, my kids grew quickly both before, and after their birth. I'd never been pregnant for longer than four months, and all of our kids grew at about twice the normal human rate. So they all looked twice their age, give or take a little bit, depending on how much vampire they had in them. The more vampire they have in them, the faster they grow. Asa and Swan had the most, Mollie and Xandra the least, with Anthony seeming to be almost right in the middle.
Rachel and Paul's oldest, Caroline, was nine at the time we were preparing to move back home. She and Swan had been having a love/hate relationship their whole lives. They were both very girly, and very strong willed. At times they lost their tempers with each other, but they were still the best of friends. At this point in their lives, they had a big sister, little sister kind of thing going on. By the time Caroline caught up with her in age, I was sure they'd be as close as their mothers.
In the middle, Rachel and Paul had their own set of twins, eight year old Grace and Noah. Christopher was the youngest, at three years old. He was also affectionately known as the little couch potato. Jake and I came to town for his birth, but hadn't expected to be so involved. Christopher hadn't wanted to wait for the hospital, so he'd been born right on Rachel's couch, I played catcher. Rachel, a labor and delivery nurse, had delivered all five of our kids. (Isn't it nice how life works out like that sometimes?) So I figured I owed her one.
In addition to their biological cousins, our guys would have lots of kids around to play with, of all different ages. The pack babies as I call them, all thought of each other as cousins, none of us had ever bothered to correct them. Same difference, right? My kids could have a normal life on the rez, and not have to hide anymore. They could be around kids who have a Daddy who can turn into a giant wolf, too.
Kim and Jared had two of the older pack babies; Cole at thirteen, and Marla at eleven.
Sam and Emily had three lovely girls. Dove being the oldest at thirteen, Willow at seven, and little Pearl at four.
A few of the wolves, Sam, Paul, and Jared, had stopped phasing in order to resume normal human aging, and grow old with their imprints and children. There was just one pack in La Push now, with three new wolves that had phased a few years ago. As second in command, Quil acted as alpha, but when we went back, Jake would return to his role.
We felt that by living right on the rez, rather than in Forks, we could be more under the radar. Renee's unannounced visit to the big house with Phil and their daughter Joy had scarred us, and prompted out hasty move to Alaska. I hid upstairs with my parents, whom Renee thought had been killed in a car accident, and my kids until my grandparents got her out of the house. It would be a long, long time before we could live in Forks again. But no one would come looking for us in La Push. We didn't know for sure how long we'd be able to stay. The most simple answer was, as long as it was safe for us.
We could live as what we really were there, husband and wife. We would "pull a Cullen" as Jake said, as far as what our relationships were to our children, when the outside world was concerned. They looked too much like us to be randomly adopted, or foster children, so they'd act as relatives.
All five of them had that beautiful, black Quilleute hair. Anthony had Dad's green eyes, but other than that, he looked just like Jake. He'd never had a haircut, so his hair was halfway down his back. The twins resembled Rachel, and therefore Jake's mom, so all three of them would act as distant orphaned relatives from that side of the family.
Swan looked like me, but with a tan, and with striking blue eyes that came from God knows who. Asa was a big mix of everybody, at first. He'd been an adorably chubby baby, but as he'd gotten older and taller, he naturally became slimmer. His face had gotten much more angular in recent years, causing him to look so much like my dad. He and Swan, little birdie as we called her, would act as my natural siblings. The three of us, of course, having been tragically orphaned at a very young age.
We had it all figured out. The easy parts, anyway. The easiest and best part had been telling Rachel. I'd tried to wait until we'd be seeing each other in person, but I just couldn't. I'd told her over the phone as I held it away from my ear, I'd been right to do so. I'm lucky that conversation ended with my eardrums intact. It would be wonderful to be so near to my best friend again.
The kids were excited about it, we had thought they would be. Mollie's first question, of course, was if Seth would be coming with us. I assured her that he was. She had never asked if she was his imprint, but I assumed she had an inkling, just as I always had with Jake.
Compared to everything else, telling my parents was the hard part. I'd been so anxious about it. I was only able to do it because of Jake's urging, he insisted that once it was over with, I'd feel so much better. He also reminded me that Dad should hear it from us out loud, not in somebody's thoughts. That wouldn't have been fair to him. My parents deserved to be told.
Nanna had been home schooling the kids, we waited until a sunny day when my parents were sure to be home, and the kids were occupied. We went over, and I just blurted it out, like I was ripping off a bandage.
"We are moving to La Push."
I expected shock, sadness, disbelief. But what I got was kindness and understanding. Of course, there was a little sadness. When I finally told them, I felt the weight of the world lifting off my shoulders.
"Honestly, we didn't expect you guys to be right by our sides forever," Mom admitted.
"Their time is limited, go be with them. It's alright darling," Dad said with a sad smile.
I promised that when it was time for us to leave La Push, I'd come back to them, where ever they were. For the time being, they ended up deciding to go back to Montana, where they already had a home. Not just my parents, everybody. By this time tomorrow night, we'd all be gone from here.
"Are you sure?" Jake murmured when I was very close to sleep. "It's not too late to change your mind, you know."
"Hon, I'm positive," I insisted for the millionth time.
"Then why are you still awake?"
"Because you are still talking, Jake." He was so afraid I would regret this, and had been asking if I was sure at least once a day. It was starting to make me a little crazy. It wasn't his fault though. When he imprinted on me, my happiness and well being became his number one priority. He just needed a little reassurance about this. Okay, a lot.
"I just need to know this is what you really want. Not for me, for yourself."
"I want this," I stated plainly. "I want to go to driftwood fires on the beach, and be able to help Rachel out with your Dad, have Grandpa Charlie come over to visit, and watch our nephews and nieces grow up. It's going to be great."
"Yeah, it will be," he said, smiling in the dark.
"Absolutely," I agreed.
Mollie
On the day of our move, Xandra came into my bedroom at the bigger house to wake me up. I was far from thrilled.
"Get the Hell out of here," I grumbled, pulling my covers over my head.
"When did you finally get to bed last night?" she asked.
"I don't even know."
I'd spent the night playing video games with Seth in his room, right next to mine. I was determined to beat him, and wouldn't let myself go to bed until I had.
"Remember what Mom said. If it's something we're going to want sometime in the next 50 years, we've gotta bring it," she reminded me.
"We should have done this a week ago when Mom told us too," I groaned.
"Probably. I already got all of my stuff out of my room. If you get up, I'll help you."
"Right," I mumbled, throwing the covers off and forcing my body to sit up on the edge of my bed. "I guess I should grab a few things."
Xandra stood next to my dresser and put her hand on the scattered pile of journals and notebooks. "How about this stuff?"
"No! Don't touch those!" I shouted, jumping up.
"Holy crap, relax!" she said, putting her hands up in the air defensively.
"I'll get those," I said, gathering up the pile.
I'm entitled to a little privacy, aren't I?
I got a duffel bag out of my closet, and shoved them all in. On top of it, I put a few items of clothing, a pair of shoes, and a few other random items. I didn't keep too much in my other room at my grandparent's house. Just some essentials that I might not feel like running home for, or bringing back and forth all the time.
"Oh, wait! My crazy lightening bolt socks are still in Seth's room, I've gotta get them," I said.
"Ooo yeah. Those are cool, don't leave those." Xandra picked up her suitcase and said, "I'm gonna go put this downstairs."
"Kay," I said.
On my way to Seth's room, I could see A.J. down on the landing to the second floor, heading to the first. "Good morning, Snap Crackle Pop!" I called down. That was our little nickname for him since his voice had started changing, and cracked on a regular basis like a bowl of Rice Krispies. I couldn't resist, it was funny. Besides, he knew I was just kidding.
"Morning, munchkin," he said back.
I might lose things a lot, but I knew right where these were. I specifically remembered peeling them off last night, while sitting on Seth's big comfy bean bag couch. It was right after we got done playing level twelve, a particularly tricky one.
I walked into his room, and snickered to myself. He'd fallen asleep right there on the bean bag couch, with a controller still in his hand.
"Dork. Trying to brush up while I was sleeping, huh?" I muttered.
Now, to wake up him up. But how? Throw myself down on the other side of the couch? Nah. I'm too light to even budge him. I looked at the TV, the music between levels was still playing softly. I grinned to myself and picked up the remote control. I pushed the volume button as hard as I could without breaking it, and turned up the sound as loud as it went. He jerked awake, the controller flying out of his hand and hitting the wall. I laughed loudly as he squinted his eyes, trying to force them to focus faster then they wanted to.
"You are just the worst kind of person, Mollie Black," he teased, rubbing his eyes. "You might look thirteen, but you act three," he said, smiling at me as his eyes finally focused.
"Um, actually, I'm pretty sure I'm the most awesome kind of person," I corrected him.
"You have your moments," he admitted.
I picked up my dirty socks and shoved them into my bag. "You couldn't have slept well, sitting up like that," I said. I threw my bag next to the door and sat down on the chair next to him.
"Not really, but I can sleep in the van," he said, slumping back into the couch.
"I wouldn't count on it," Swan said appearing at the doorway. "Dad's going to ask you to drive Mom's car with that horse trailer for the wolves hooked up to it, so that Mom won't have to," she informed him with kind of a smug smile, and kept on walking. She got that look whenever she was being a know it all, and telling people about her dumb future seeing dreams.
"That sucks. Oh, well," Seth said.
"Coffee is on!" Nanna called from down on the first floor. "Breakfast in five!"
"I'll miss hearing her say that," Seth said, getting up from the couch. "Okay, I've gotta put clean clothes on. Get out of here, you aren't peeking at me," he said.
"Yeah, right," I said. "Get a life, Seth." I know he was teasing, but I quickly turned away and left the room so that he wouldn't see me blush. He goes around with no shirt all of the time, so I've already seen most of what he has to offer anyway...not bad. Not bad at all.
In the hallway I almost ran into Grandpa and Grandma. "Good morning, darling," Grandpa said. For half a second, I panicked, wondering if he'd heard me thinking about Seth with his shirt off. But I quickly realized from their sad smiles, that even if he had, that wasn't going to be addressed.
"We're really going to miss you guys around here," Grandma said.
"It sure will be quiet," Grandpa added.
"It will be awful boring without me," I agreed with a nod.
Grandma laughed.
Even though we'd all went for one more hunt together last night, Nanna had made a huge breakfast. Several over flowing platters were lined up for us to choose from.
Seth is going to love this, I thought to myself.
Gabriel was already standing in front of the counter, helping himself to some sausage gravy. The aging in this family is so wacky, that he's younger then us, except for Asa, and he looks almost eighteen.
Gabriel is half vampire, so as much as my mom. My Aunt Rose and Uncle Emmett adopted him. My family knows his half brother Nauhel, and he kind of just showed up one day with him, and asked if anybody wanted a baby. Their dad is some crazy vampire who just runs around knocking up humans, not caring that they'll die. Nauhel said he didn't want their dad anywhere near the baby, and he knew my family would give him a good life. Gabriel used to creep me out a little, my siblings too. But when somebody tells you they remember tearing their way out of their mothers stomach with their teeth, what are you supposed to think? I mean it's sad, it really is. But it's kind of freaky, too. Anthony still hung out with him, but the rest of us started to kind of keep our distance. Mom noticed.
"I don't know what growing up would have been like for me if I hadn't had your Dad. Sometimes, it can feel a little lonely, being almost one of a kind. I can't make you be his best friend, just try to remember that the way he was born wasn't his fault. The same thing would have happened to me if it wasn't for your Grandpa."
Sometimes, I think my mom thinks she's in some touching movie on the Lifetime network. Dad had already warned all of us not to tease Mom today. He was expecting some waterworks from her. Her tendency to cry was sort of a family joke, "But that's not the day for it."
When my parents showed up for breakfast, I could tell she'd already had at least one good round of crying. I acted like I didn't notice, and told her good morning as they sat down at the table next to me.
We were leaving right after our meal.
"Hey, guys," she said a little too brightly. "Did you guys have a good night last night?"
Asa started telling Mom and Dad about the game of baseball we'd played with everybody last night. I drifted off into my own thoughts as Seth chomped away beside me.
I was glad to have my best friend moving with us. Since we'd come here, he'd been living here at the bigger house. He said now was a good time for him to go back to Forks too, but he wasn't going to move back in with his mom. He was going to stay with Emily and Sam until he could save up for his own place. They had a big old house on the rez, and said he could live in their attic. I wondered if he would even go see his mom, but I didn't ask. He never seemed to want to talk about her. From what I knew, he started having problems with her because of spending time with us, she hates vampires. In one of the very few conversations we'd had about her, he said she'd have to get the Hell over it, and learn to accept people that are important to him if she wanted to be a part of his life. I was curious, so I asked Dad about her. He said she'd never exactly been the warm and fuzzy type.
I was excited to live near Aunt Rachel, and some people close to my age. Even though Forks was where I was born, I didn't really live there for long. I'd spent most of my life here. Both places felt like home, but in different ways. I'd never really thought about how much time I spent here at the bigger house. Not just to see Seth, but everyone. I was going to miss Uncle Jasper's gentle words, Uncle Emmett's raucous laughter, Nanna and her sweetness, and my crazy aunts. Grandpa Carlisle, who always had time for us no matter what. Grandma and Grandpa, who spoiled us rotten. I remembered coming over here when I was little and eating candy until I thought I'd pass out. Xandra and I used to lay in the other room on the living room floor, pat each others tummies and say, "Look how fat we got from all that candy!"
I didn't even realize I was crying until I felt my mom wrapping her arms around me from behind.
Renesmee
"It's all right, sweetheart," I said. "We'll all visit each other all of the time."
I'd been barely holding it together when I'd noticed Mollie, sitting across the table and crying into her breakfast.
"I know," Mollie sniffled. "I guess it just kind of hit me right now."
I didn't regret this decision, but I knew it would still be hard to leave. My calender age was only fourteen, but I was a grown woman with my own family now. Is it strange I've never been away from my parents for more then a week? Either way, it's the truth. It would be so different not having them right there, just a short run away, barely out of earshot. Every time I needed help, my family was right there. They'd all had a hand in helping to raise my kids, I was so grateful. While they weren't quite grown yet, my family had helped them become these amazing people they were turning out to be. They'd all had an influence on my little ones.
Despite a few tears, we had a nice breakfast. Jake reminded the kids not to drink too much. "The goal here is minimal stops, you guys."
I ate more then I normally would, just so that we could stay a little longer, and I ate just a little slower. Despite my efforts to delay them, my tears came as soon as I stood up from the table. "Okay, let's get going," I said through my them. As I'd just done with Mollie, my mom's arms were around me right away.
"I'm sorry, Mom," I said.
"You've got nothing to be sorry for," she said in a soothing voice. "I'm really going to miss you, but we'll talk all the time."
"We will," I promised.
After I'd been passed to Dad, he said, "You're mother and I made a purchase recently."
"Okay?" I said, pulling away and wiping my eyes.
"We've decided to keep a small plane in Washington. Please feel free to use it as often as you like," he said with a sly grin. "It's not yours, it's ours," he clarified before I could tell him he was crazy for buying us a freaking plane. "It's in our names. I had to do something to put my mind at ease and ensure you'll visit often," he said.
"That will definitely make it easy. Thank you. For buying yourself a plane, and keeping it out of state, that is," I said.
"You're quite welcome, my darling. I love you."
"I love you too, Daddy."
As I was hugging Uncle Jasper goodbye he said, "We'll see you soon, my favorite niece."
"I'm your only niece," I reminded him with a small laugh.
"Still, even if I had others, I'm fairly certain you would still be my favorite."
"Thanks," I sniffled.
I said goodbye to Uncle Emmett, Aunt Rosalie, and Gabriel.
"You'll do great at school, it's easy," I told Gabriel. "Humans aren't so bad."
He shrugged and gave me a shy smile. "We'll see."
Aunt Alice was next. I saw her holding Anthony tightly, he was a little taller than her now.
"If there's anything you want me to be on the lookout for, just call!" she chirped.
"Just us in general I guess," I said.
"Always!"
I thanked her for being Swan's pal, and for the help she'd offered as Swan had gotten to know her gift. She'd been a big help. I fought back the lump in my throat when she hugged me.
Nanna and Grandpa Carlisle were difficult to say goodbye to. I thanked him for helping to make sure the birth of all my children went smoothly. He took such wonderful care of all of us. I could never have had my kids in a hospital with humans. It would have been plain to see that something wasn't right about me. One of the first things they'd have done, would be to take my temperature. It's so high for me normally they'd have thought I was dying. That had never been an option for us.
"Especially Xandra and Mollie," I croaked. They had needed help the most when they were first born. Like a lot of twins, they were born too early. "It was a privilege," he said as I was staining the front of his button down shirt with tears.
I thanked Nanna for starting my kids education, and told her how much it meant to me. Maybe it was since they were at home, but they hardly thought of it as school. I knew she'd done well in preparing them for the real thing.
I watched the kids saying their goodbyes. I wished I could fast forward through it. It was a little hard to watch, and it seemed like it was taking forever. I stood with Mom, our arms around each others waists.
Jake came to say goodbye to her, he'd saved her for last. I stayed near, but looked away in an effort to give them a little privacy.
"I love you, Bells. I really, really do." I could tell that even he was getting choked up.
"I love you, too. Tell everyone I said hey. Well, everybody that you can, that is."
"I will," he promised. He cleared his throat loudly, I looked over as he was pulling away from their embrace.
"Let's hit the road, guys. If anybody has to pee, you have thirty seconds," he announced. Swan thought about it for 1.5 seconds, then ran to the bathroom at her top speed.
"Anybody surprised that it was her?" Uncle Emmett said. There was some laughter, because no, nobody was surprised.
Bella
We all stood still, and silent, watching as they pulled away. I could hear them after I could see them. I could hear my twinnies chattering to each other, and my daughter softly weeping. I did the same, as Edward put his hand on the small of my back.
"I know she can't, but I still hoped she'd always stay with us," I said.
"It would have been incredibly selfish of us to try and keep her."
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. We'd been over this.
"I know. But I'll still miss her...all of them."
"I know, love."
I was jealous, I wished I could go back, too. I wished we could stay together, all of us. I wanted to make Edward buy an island. One big enough for all the Cullens, all the Blacks, and everybody we loved from Forks. Charlie and Billy could spend their golden years catching exotic, rare fish.
"What are you thinking?" Edward asked, that look on his face that I'd seen countless times, the frustration that he had to wait to be let in.
"That you're nosy," I replied.
"That's nothing new."
I gave him a quick peek at my little fantasy, and he chuckled.
"They visited Forks all the time, they'll do the same for us," he reminded me.
"I know."
"They'll come back to us. Someday," he murmured.
"I know."
