Miroku looked at Inca.
“Can you unlock the door to the apartment?” Miroku asked. Inca nodded his head and looked at the keys in his hand and then used one to unlock and open the door. He pushed the door open and looked about the apartment. Miroku walked in and headed towards Chris’s room. Inca trilled at him following behind. Miroku went to the nicely furnished bedroom, and laid Chris down. He then went to the dresser and got some loose sleep pants from them. He looked at Inca. “I’m not going to hurt him, I’m just going to change him into something more comfortable.”
Inca nodded, and helped Miroku change Chris’s clothing. “There’s a guest room down that way if you’re tired.”
Inca shook his head, the white hair fell in waves. Inca trilled and looked around the room. Miroku watched him, and when Inca picked up a picture Miroku smiled. “That’s of Chris and his family.”
Inca lightly fingered the picture, while he stared at it. “Aunt Cat was a pretty woman.”
Inca trilled and looked at Miroku after he out the picture back. “She was killed when Chris was five. It really messed him up for awhile. I’m not really sure if he’s over it.”
Inca looked at the sleeping Chris and pulled the blankets up over the young man. “It wasn’t fair that Aunt Cat died the way she did. Damian, Chris’s father never forgave himself for her death.”
Inca trilled sadly. “When Chris writes his music I think Cat is with him.”
Chris moaned lightly in his sleep, and shifted in his sleep. Inca sat down next to the young man and stroked his hair. Miroku watched silently. Chris calmed almost instantly, leaning slightly into Inca’s touch. Miroku walked out of the room, and plopped down on the sofa. He was getting jealous. The man in white had no right to touch his lover. He went to Chris’s phone and dialed his uncle’s cell phone number.
Jeff pulled his cell phone out, and clicked it on.
“Yo!” Jeff said.
“Hey Jeff, can you pick me up from Chris’s place. Or better yet I’ll meet you outside the building.” Miroku said.
“What’s going on?”
“Well that pure white guy is fawning over Chris, and Chris is letting him.”
Jeff sighed.
“Miroku after what Chris has gone through you’ll have to give him time. I think this man in white was taking care of Chris while he was with the council.”
“Jeff if that was the case…”
Inca walked out of the bedroom and watched Miroku talk on the phone. He knew he was being talked about. He went to the kitchen and looked around it. He got a glass of water. He took it back to Chris, and got Chris to slowly drink the water. Chris opened his eyes.
“Inca? How did I get back to my apartment?” Chris asked slowly. Inca trilled and pointed towards the living room.
“Miroku? He’s a friend.”
Chris got up off of the bed, and walked into the living room. He heard Miroku talking on the phone. He laid a hand on Miroku’s shoulder. Miroku looked up.
“Oh welcome back to the land of the living Chris.” Miroku said.
“What’s up?” Chris asked. “I mean besides my best friend talking about me behind my back.”
“Look if you want to cozy up to that strange person you can, I’m not your keeper.” Miroku hissed.
“Miroku what’s gotten into you?”
Miroku hung up the phone.
“You just hop from one lover to the next hun? Going to do him next?”
“Miroku? Wha…what’s going on? What have I done wrong?”
“Forget it. I’m out of here. Don’t think I’ll take you back either.”
Miroku got up and left the apartment leaving Chris standing there looking shocked.
“Miroku…”
Tears started to form in Chris’s eyes as he sat down on the piano bench. Inca slowly walked up to him, and trilled softly. Chris looked up with tears in his eyes. “I don’t know what happened. Was it something I said or did?”
Inca gently touched Chris’s shoulder, and Chris leaned into him.
Miroku paced the sidewalk outside of Chris’s apartment building. He snarled to himself. Chris had been his best friend.
“Okay Miroku clam down. You don’t need to freak out just because some other guy is interested in your lover.” Miroku thought. He looked up and saw his uncle’s car pulling into a parking space. He bounded over as Damian got out of the car. Damian looked at the young kitsune.
“He’s in his apartment Damian, but the sun is about to rise so you won’t have much time to visit.” Miroku said.
“I have a ride on the way here to take me to the Circus.” Damian replied as he quickly walked towards the building. Miroku got into the car. He blinked when he saw another kitsune sitting next to his uncle.
“Who’s this?”
“This is Ten-Chan he’s a friend of mine Miroku.” Jeff said as he drove off. “Now what were you saying on the phone?”
“It’s nothing Uncle Jeff.”
Damian walked into Chris’s apartment and saw his son leaning against Inca. He looked at the man in white who stared back at him. Inca trilled softly.
“Is he all right?” Damian asked. Inca trilled and nodded. “Okay I have to go again. The sun is going to rise in about an hour, and Chris doesn’t have a place for me here yet.”
Damian quickly left the apartment as Chris looked up. Inca trilled at Chris.
“I didn’t feel like talking Inca. I can’t face my father right now.” Chris replied. The red haired man stood up. “I nearly killed him, I’m loosing my mind, and my best friend hates me for a reason I don’t understand. I’m going to bed.”
Inca trilled and stood up. Chris spun around. “No one wanted me Inca. No one does. I’m used to it.”
Inca trilled sharply and reached out for Chris. Chris sighed and shook his head.
“Now you don’t mean that. I’ll only end up hurting you. I seem to be good at doing stuff like that.”
Inca walked up to Chris and pulled the taller man into his arms trilling softly. He led Chris to the bedroom, and made sure the young man got to sleep okay.
