Chapter Ten.
Rosalie’s funeral was held the next day and it was a private one. Tamia stood at the road looking down the drive towards the Cullen’s residence. She knew they most likely had questions about why she knew about them being vampires but she didn’t want to bother them at that time as she knew that they would approach her about it when they wanted to know. She whipped out her cell phone and started to dial a number as she walked back home. “Hi, I’m looking for FL Horsewoman? Is she there? Hey, it’s Night Owl. Would you like to come visit me? I’ll pay for the flight. I just need to talk to someone in person about something and my other contacts well, would not be too pleased with me about it. Okay, how fast can you get to the airport? Okay, a ticket will be waiting for you when you get there. Okay, bye.” Tamia dialed another number and said something to the person on the other end before hanging up as she started to jog down her road, not even aware of the several sets of eyes that watched her go.
Tamia took care of her morning house duties before she headed off to work for the day. She called up a friend who owned a limo to go to the Portland airport to pick up her sister FL Horsewoman and bring her to her home. Tamia hoped that her sister-in-spirit liked being there as she loved the mountain-like region.
She took care of her day till the evening when she walked outside to her truck to see that no one was standing there anymore. Jacob was not there telling her to sell her land and move to a different location since he learned who or what she was. She smiled as she drove away from the police station never noticing the car that followed her.
Tamia pulled up into her drive to see a medium dark blond haired woman standing 5ft 4 inches wearing a dark blue shirt and jeans by the paddock petting Adonis and Jasmin on their necks. “FL Horsewoman, I presume?”
The woman turned to look at Tamia and smiled. “Hi Night Owl.”
Tamia smiled. “It’s good to meet you finally, Rhonda.”
“The same here, Tamia. So this is your place?” She glanced around to see five raised beds off somewhat in the shade of some trees and the light of the sun. “Your raised garden beds?”
“Yeah, I got several plants in it already. I should be able to harvest them in a few weeks for about three months before having to pull the plants and get it ready for winter.” Tamia replied.
“Wow, too bad I cannot eat that.” Rhonda said, as they walked over to the beds.
“Why not?” asked Tamia.
Rhonda turned to look at Tamia in the eyes showing her golden eyes. “I was turned about ten years back by my ex-boyfriend, who thought that I was his soul mate but I wasn’t the one for him as he cheated on me with another vampire and found out that she was more his match than I was and was dumped.”
“So why didn’t you tell me you were a vampire?” Tamia asked.
“Well, you never did asked.” Rhonda replied.
“That is true. Let’s get you inside and settled.” Tamia said, as they headed for the house. “I have a secret of my own to tell you.”
Rhonda nodded as they entered the house where Tamia revealed to her the secret. She then showed Rhonda to the guest bedroom with the room darkening shades and the beige comforter on the queen size bed. Tamia opened the closet and the dresser draws. “This room also has its own bathroom, so that’s a bit of a bonus for you.”
Rhonda checked out the entire room before placing her suitcase down on the floor and smiled at her. “I love it.”
“I’ll let you get settled and then I’ll take you over to the Cullens. They were informed that my sister-in-spirit would be over today. Hopefully, we won’t have Alice popping over to visit.” Tamia replied.
“So what happened that day?” Rhonda asked. “You said that you needed to talk about it to someone other than your connections.”
“Yeah,” Tamia said, as she explained what happened the other day minus the part about the shape shifters and the promise she made to them.
Rhonda smiled. “Do you think the gang would be online right now?”
“I never chatted with them this early in the day, Rhonda. But we can find out right now if they are or not.” Tamia replied as they headed for the computer room and opened up their laptops. Tamia’s computer connected fast as she pulled up the chat room to see the familiar names up in the room. “Yeah, they’re online but who knows if they’re on it.”
“Well, lets find out now.” Rhonda stated.
Night Owl and FL Horsewoman logged on.
Night Owl: “Afternoon everyone.”
Chicago Gentleman: “Hi. We didn’t expect to see either of you two online today?”
FL Horsewoman: “Well, sis figured that you boys would probably be on later on tonight but I figured you be on. What’s up?”
Sugar pixie: “Well, we’re waiting for a thunderstorm to come so we can play baseball.”
Tennessee man: “Hey, do you wanna play?”
FL Horsewoman: “But there’s no thunderstorms coming?”
Night Owl: “Hey, didn’t you guys get some dodge balls recently?”
Mr. Sweetheart: “We sure did. That doesn’t really need a thunderstorm to play right?”
FL Horsewoman: “Not really, the ball is soft and it doesn’t make too much of a noise when it hits.”
Night Owl: “That way your neighbors never know your playing unlike baseball, with the hit of the ball to the bat. The loud crash that sounds like a thunderclap.”
Tennessee man: “How do you know?”
Night Owl: “I hung out at a baseball game with some friends who have some powerful hits on the balls.”
Chicago Gentleman: “So who were they?”
Night Owl: “Who?”
Chicago Gentleman: “The friends you played with?”
Night Owl: “Oh, it is usually my Italian millionaires. They were over here one year and they wanted to play baseball and I watched them play since I don’t really hit that well.”
Chicago Gentleman: “What about dodge ball? Can you play that?”
Night Owl: “Of course, I can. But I’m not the best at catching the ball, usually I’m pretty good at dodging the ball.”
FL Horsewoman: “So where do you boys live at? I’m sure my sister and I can meet you up somewhere and play the game?”
Tennessee Man: “There’s a location we know as we play baseball at.”
Night Owl: “Okay, we can meet there. How far is it from Forks, Washington?”
Mr. Sweetheart: “About twenty miles due east by the mountains. Can you meet us there in about three hours?”
Night Owl: “That should give us enough time to get there. Want me to bring food to eat?”
Tennessee Man: “If I can eat you, that’s all I want.”
FL Horsewoman: “And how are you going to eat me, my mountain man?”
Mr. Sweetheart: “TAKE IT TO A PRIVATE ROOM!”
Sugar pixie: “Tennessee Man needs to be slapped.”
Tennessee Man: “Oh please, if it is FL Horsewoman who is going to do the slapping that’s fine by me!”
FL Horsewoman: “Oh really now?”
Tennessee Man: “Oh yes!”
Night Owl: “Both of you, please take it to a private room or wait till you see each other in person to start slapping rumps.”
FL Horsewoman: “That is true! We will be meeting up soon today. Is it going to be cloudy over there?”
Sugar pixie: “It should be or we wouldn’t be suggesting it.”
Night Owl: “We better get going then as it will take us some time to get there. We’ll see you there.”
Chicago Gentleman: “See you there.”
Night Owl, FL Horsewoman, Sugar pixie, Tennessee Man, Chicago Gentleman and Mr. Sweetheart logged off.

Tamia and Rhonda were pulling the table out of her truck when several unknown vehicles pulled up next to the truck. Rhonda turned to look at who was there, as she planted her hands on her hip as she looked at the newcomers. She smirked as she glanced behind her. “Sis, I think our friends have arrived.”
Tamia raised up in the back of the truck fully and turned around. She looked extremely shocked as she looked at the newcomers.
“Sis? What’s wrong?” Rhonda asked.
“Uh, I know them. They’re my neighbors the Cullens.” Tamia said, as she hopped off the back of the truck.
Carlisle smiled as he walked over to them. “So you are the ones that my sons have been chatting with at night?”
“Yes, Carlisle. Dr Carlisle Cullen, this is my sister Rhonda Thompson from Polk City, Florida by the way of Newport, Tennessee. Rhonda, this is Dr Carlisle Cullen and his family, Esme, Edward, Emmett, Jasper, and Alice.” Tamia said, as she looked at her sister.
Emmett smiled big as he looked up to her face after seeing the hiking boots she wore. “A mountain woman.”
Rhonda smirked, seeing the same hiking boots on his feet. “A mountain man.”
Tamia smiled at Carlisle. “Looks like they’ll be okay.”
Carlisle smiled. “I guess I better tell you the truth about us, Tamia.”
Rhonda looked over at him. “Tell us something that we don’t know.”
Carlisle looked at her. “What do you mean?”
“That you and your family are vampires.” Tamia stated.
Jasper looked at them both. “How do you know?”
“Takes one to know one.” Rhonda smirked, as she looked at them.
“Are you really one of us?” asked Emmett, looking at Rhonda.
“I am but not my sis.” Rhonda replied, throwing a thumb at Tamia.
Tamia knew that they would now treat her like she was a weakling with all the superhuman strength and speed that was now there before her. She turned her attention back to setting up the table trying to hold back the anger she held for anyone who treated her like she was weak.
Jasper walked over to Carlisle and spoke in a low whisper. “Carlisle, she is not happy.”
“Who?” Carlisle asked as he glanced towards Rhonda and Emmett who were talking silently together.
“Not her, her.” Jasper pointed towards Tamia. “She doesn’t want us to treat her like she is weak.”
Carlisle turned his back towards Tamia. “Well, we have to hold back with our throws at her, Jasper. She’s human compared to us.”
Jasper was about to say something when Carlisle went down to the ground as a dodge ball rolled away. He glanced back to see who could have done that to see Tamia standing there with a look of rage on her face before she turned and stalked towards the woods. He looked towards Alice who popped by his side. “Alice, did she throw that ball at Carlisle?”
“I know nothing!” Alice said, as she hurried after Tamia.
Edward walked over to Carlisle and helped him up. “I think you insulted her, dad. Tamia doesn’t like to be considered weak by anyone. She’s very self-reliant and strong.”
Alice followed Tamia till the young woman was sitting on a rock by the waterfall, she watched her sit there for several minutes till she noticed that her hands went to her face and the sounds of her cries were heard. Alice walked over to her and wrapped her arm around her and gave Tamia a shoulder to cry on. “You don’t like being considered weak, don’t you, Tamia?”
“I was always called that by my older brother and now Carlisle will probably treat me with kid gloves. Since they’re all vampires and here I am a mere human.” Tamia whispered, through her sobs.
Alice smiled. “But that throw with the dodge ball?”
“Was done on pure rage, Alice. It was my anger that fueled my throw.”
Alice glanced behind to see Esme and Jasper walking towards them. “It’s okay, Esme, honey, I’ll take care of her.”
“Well, be back here soon. They’ll want to start the game.” Jasper stated, before they both vanished from sight.
Alice looked at Tamia. “Carlisle doesn’t mean to hurt your feelings, Tamia.”
“I know but I know everyone will treat me with kid gloves when throwing the ball at me, knowing that if they hit me with full strength . . . the ball could kill me or worse yet injure me to where my dad would have to up his plans sooner.” Tamia replied.
“Up his plan sooner? What do you mean by that?” Alice asked.
“Nothing.” Tamia said quickly. She stood up. “We better get back to the others before they send Edward and Jasper over here.”
Alice agreed with her. “If you ever need to talk to me about anything, Tamia, my ear is always open to you?”
“Thanks but I don’t think I need to.” Tamia replied, as they hurried to the field to see the others stretching and warming up even though they didn’t need to.
Carlisle walked over to Tamia. “Tamia, I’m sorry if my comment had insulted you. I’m only thinking about your welfare.”
“Considering if I did play with you guys, I could possibly be injured or worst yet killed.”
“But I’ll be able to bring you back,” Carlisle smiled.
“True, but there will be problems with that with the station.” Tamia replied.
Carlisle didn’t say anything else as he went back to the others and started to see who was on which team. “Tamia, you don’t mind being the referee for us?”
“Nope, I don’t mind at all.” Tamia replied, as she looked at them. She picked up three balls and carried them into the middle of the playing field and went to the sidelines as fast as her human feet could carry her. “Ready?” They nodded their heads as they readied themselves to run for the balls. “Go!”
Tamia started to yell out those who were out as the ones she called out rushed to the side to catch the balls from their teammates to throw back at the other team to knock them out. It was a madhouse of blurs for several minutes before Edward’s team won the first match. “Two points Edward!”
They played again for another several minutes before Carlisle’s team won a match. This went on and on for several minutes till Edward grabbed the ball and flung it towards Esme who dodged the ball and the next thing they all heard was Tamia’s outcry of shock.
“TAMIA!” Yelled Jasper and Alice at the same time, as everyone rushed to Tamia’s side.
“Carlisle!” Edward growled off.
Carlisle’s soft fingers gently pressed against Tamia’s stomach to see if she was tender there to see her flinch in pain. He looked over at Emmett. “Bring her truck, Rhonda can you drive it?”
“Yes, why?” Rhonda asked.
“We need to get her to the hospital now.” Carlisle replied. “I’m not sure but I want her internal organs X-rayed for any bruising that might be there.”
“I’m just sore, nothing’s wrong.” Tamia said.
“That might be true, but it can’t hurt to be sure.” Carlisle stated.
Emmett rushed for Tamia’s truck and brought it over as Carlisle and Jasper lifted Tamia into the back as Carlisle hopped in beside her with Edward by her side. Esme and the others followed them to the hospital.
It was about three hours later, Tamia came walking out of the hospital, glaring at Dr. Carlisle as she did so. “Thanks for everything, Carlisle, but my sister and I will be heading for home now. Sis, come on.”
Rhonda gave Emmett a sad look as she headed off with her sister. Emmett looked at Carlisle. “I think you did the one thing that she didn’t want to do, Carlisle.”
“Yeah, bringing her here. But I didn’t want to take the chance that the hit she took busted something and she dies before we knew it,” Carlisle stated, looking at him.
Alice looked at him. “I think we would have smelled the scent of death coming from her if that was going to happen, Carlisle.”
Emmett looked at them and agreed with Alice. “The scent alone would have told us something was wrong.”
Esme got Carlisle to head for his car as they headed for home in a sense relieved.
~~~~~~~~~~
“Tamia, do you think they know?” asked Rhonda.
“All I can say is I hope not, I’m not allowed to even let anyone know of what I am beyond the Volturi and I need to call them up and alert them about you knowing.” Tamia replied.
Rhonda smiled. “They already do, sis. I called them while you were in the hospital and they accept that I know your secret.”
Tamia looked relieved. “Did you tell them about the Cullens being what they are?”
“Marcus asked me if I met Carlisle and I told him that I did. They know of the Cullens, Tamia.” Rhonda stated, as they drove through town.
“That’s good, hopefully, Marcus will keep my secret till I have no other choice but to tell the Cullens who and what I am.” Tamia replied, as they drove past the police station. “Pull in here, I have to run in and let them know that I’m not going to come in for couple of days while you’re here.”
“No, sis, I’m perfectly fine being alone in the house.” Rhonda smiled.
“Just be sure that Emmett doesn’t break anything in the house or I’ll be taking a steel pipe to his ass.” Tamia smirked, as they drove down the roads towards home.
“I’ll let him know.” She smiled back as they drove down a gravel road towards a dead end.
Tamia got out of the truck and headed for the back to remove the table that they placed there when they left the field. Tamia noticed that a bag was there. She held it up and looked at Rhonda. “I think they gave us the balls instead of putting it in their vehicles.”
“Well, considering we were rushing about putting everything in the vehicles, they probably forgot it was theirs’.” Rhonda said.
“I’ll give it to them when they drop in to see us.” Tamia replied, as she placed it by the door and headed for the truck to help Rhonda haul the table to the basement where it was before.
Rhonda looked at Tamia. “Carlisle told you to go home and get some sleep. Why don’t you do what the doctor ordered and I’ll handle taking the table down to the basement?”
“Okay, just be careful of the ghosts that I have down there.” Tamia headed up the stairs and to her bed.
~~~~~~~~~~
It was about ten at night, when Tamia came walking down the stairs to see the living room lights on and hearing two voices within the room. “Sis, is that Emmett with you?”
“Yes, it is. He came to get the bag of balls they left in the back.” Rhonda said, as Tamia entered the living room to see the tall Cullen sitting there on the couch.
“I called about an hour ago to see if you might have the bag or not. Mom asked where the bag was and we didn’t know for sure where it was.” Emmett said. “But now that I have the bag, I better on get home. Bye.”
Emmett headed for the doors as Rhonda followed him out. They stood at the door for several minutes before Rhonda returned.
“Looks like you two are in love, sis.”
“Am not, we’re just good friends that’s all.” Rhonda replied. “After all, he did just recently lose his wife.”
“True, but do take it slow with him.” Tamia asked.
“Hey, aren’t I always careful? After all, he is a mountain man.” Rhonda grinned.
Tamia smiled in return. “Just be careful not to break his heart, sis.”
“So when will we get you hooked up with a man?” Rhonda asked.
“Unlikely, sis. I don’t do boyfriend/girlfriend thing very well.” Tamia replied.
“Just because you have yet to find that right man,”
“I don’t need one.”
“I think you do, besides one day you will need one.” Rhonda stated.
Tamia just shook her head as she headed for the stairs to return to bed.
