Part Eleven

Edward POV

Why did I wait so long to do this? I kissed her warm flesh all over. I had control the whole time. Why didn’t I listen to her and just try to go a little further? It wasn’t my blood lust I was losing control of at all it was lust for her body.

It hurt that someone else had been the first to give her what I had denied her for so long. I was actually beginning to fear her choice. To begin with I was almost certain she would choose me because I had never known her to love Jacob that way. Now she did. I had asked Alice what she saw but Alice said that Bella’s future kept changing between several different scenarios to nothing at all. I knew what the blank choice was, Jacob.

I hoped that if she did choose him, that she would at least choose to remain human. She had told me that her decision to be changed had nothing to do with the decision between us. Maybe she would just get Carlisle to change her either way. I couldn’t help a selfish little part of my brain hoping that if she become a vampire that Jacob would not want her anymore, so that she would be mine. I didn’t mind being second place. I knew that wasn’t entirely true...

I would do anything for this woman beneath me. I suspected that if she asked me to change her, I would eventually do even that for her. I hoped she wouldn’t though.

She gasped as I flicked my tongue between her legs before moving back to her lips. I kissed her deeply and slid my fingers into her at the same time. She moaned loudly into my mouth and moments later her body shook with her orgasm. I slowed my movements to allow her to calm down. I moved to kiss her neck. I repeated my assault on her time after time until I could no longer resist the urge to make love to her.

Bella POV

I woke up late morning to find my bed empty. I wasn’t sure where Edward had gone but I suspected it wasn’t far. My muscles ached as I got up and made my way to the bathroom. Once I was dressed I went downstairs to get some breakfast. Edward appeared moments after I sat down to eat my cereal.

“Good morning.” He said.

“It’s nearly lunchtime.” I replied, kissing him in between mouthfuls. “So where have you been hiding?”

“I just went to get an update. It seems we have some more theories.” He replied. “We’re wondering if maybe Victoria is behind your unexpected visitor even if it wasn’t her that actually came here.”

I nodded in response. It seemed plausible. I wasn’t sure whether I was relieved or not. I didn’t really want a vampire like Victoria after me...but at least that meant there aren’t two threats out there.

“Bella, I know things are complicated right now but I think that we may need Jacob’s help. Actually we may need all of them.” Edward said, after a moment of silence.

“Edward? What’s going on?” I asked.

“Alice saw a fight. She doesn’t know any details. It’s like someone’s avoiding being seen like the vamp in your room. All she sees is a big fight.” He replied.

“Victoria?” I ask quietly. I felt goosebumps spread across my skin.

“Alice didn’t see her there, but it’s still possible why?” he replied. I could see it. Why couldn’t he see it. Vampires were supposed to be smart.

“They’re the same.” I whispered.

“The same as what?” he asked.

“The one’s coming to fight and the one in my room.” I breathed. I felt my hands start shaking.

“Victoria’s behind the whole thing.” Edward said bluntly. “Oh god Bella, I’m so sorry.” I looked up at him a little confused.

“It’s your family that will be forced to fight.” I said sadly.

“It’s you Bella. They’re after you.” He said. “The vampire in your room came here to get your scent to take back for the others....so they can hunt you down.” Edward’s face was broken. I knew he was blaming himself. He had told me before that Victoria had come back looking for me because James was her mate. It was mate for mate.

“Change me.” I said. Edward didn’t reply. “Edward change me and I can fight too. They won’t be after my scent then. They’ll be thrown off.”

“I can’t. Bella, you know I can’t do that.” He replied.

Edward POV

Part of me knew what she was asking was a good idea. If the vampires were all in a frenzy on the hunt for her then even if they found her they would lose enthusiasm. It would give our side an advantage. Victoria would still want to kill Bella, vampire or not, it was still mate for mate but it would give us a better chance.
Even knowing that it would make the fight a lot easier, I couldn’t do it. How could I take away Bella’s life and soul? I couldn’t. I couldn’t even picture her as a vampire. I just saw her as who she was.

Maybe if she chose Jacob...then it wouldn’t be mate for mate.

That wouldn’t stop an army of vampires from killing her once they’d tracked her scent all the way here. Unless Victoria thought it was more punishment to me to watch her be happy with another rather than die. Maybe it was a chance worth taking. Even if it didn’t work we could still fight. We’d be no worse off.

I had to speak to the dog.

Author’s Notes: ok there you go another complication to the mix! I’m kind of using bits of the books plot and changing bits to go with my story. But hey fanfiction is just for fun right?
