Chapter Fourteen.
Winter came to Forks, Washington fast and furious. Thirty inches of snow blanketed the lands. Emmett came driving up in his jeep with the snow shovel on clearing the roads leading from Tamia’s home and their own to the main roads. Tamia waved at him as he cleared her road. “All clear, Tamia, you can go into work without problems.”
“Thanks Emmett. Have you chatted with Rhonda lately?”
“Yes, she’ll be coming out for Christmas in another three days.” Emmett replied as he turned off his engine. “So what about your family, are they coming?”
Tamia looked over at him. The look on her face said it all. “They’re coming, all right, including my brother.”
“I thought he wouldn’t come?” asked Emmett.
“I was hoping he wouldn’t but he wanted to come skiing even though this area isn’t known for the skiing.” Tamia stated.
“But who knows if he crosses the line with the wolf pack, they may tear him up.” Emmett smirked, evilly.
“Oh, I like your idea but my folks wouldn’t like it.” Tamia replied with a smile on her face.
“If he bugs you that bad, Tamia, come to the house and stay. I’m sure that my folks will not mind having you there.” Emmett said.
“Oh, if he tries to do anything within my home, I can throw him out.” Tamia replied, with a grin on her face. “He will rue the day he crossed my path as it will not be pretty for him.”
“That a girl! Show him he can’t mess around with you.” Emmett smiled.
“True,” Tamia returned his smile as she left her home. As she drove towards town, she knew that her folks will prevent her from doing anything to him. If he tries anything, she may let loose her temper and who cares what her folks say about it, she had had it with his temper flares.
Charles saw her walking in kicking the snow off of her pants as she stood by the door getting rid of all the snow before she tracked it in like the others did. “How was your journey from your place, Tamia?”
“Pretty good, the roads were cleared by Emmett this morning.” Tamia stated as she pulled off her outer jacket and then removed her overalls to take them to the locker room to dry till she had to leave that afternoon.
“That’s good to know.” Charles replied, as he followed her to the locker room. As he leaned on the door frame, he asked. “How is he doing? Losing Rosalie must really hurt for him.”
“He’s coping as well as any young man would if that happened to him.” Tamia replied.
“So he’s coping good, then?” asked Charles.
“Yes.” Tamia headed for the dispatcher room, she glanced back. “Have you talked with Jacob lately?”
“Yes, he’s coping with his loss, he’s becoming more the leader of the Quileutes tribe, than he did before. It is like he’s not interested in hunting down the wolves that killed Bella.”
“Maybe he understands them more than you think, Charles. They did say that their tribe’s mascot is the wolf. I think he’s more comfortable being with his people and focusing on tending to them then sticking close to his home and remembering what Bella had done within his home and on their marriage bed.” Tamia replied.
“Do you think he’ll find someone . . . to love again?”
“Maybe one day, he’ll find someone.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, he’ll find someone.” Tamia said, as she turned to the screen, clicking the talk button on the console to accept the call. “911, what is your emergency?”
Charles stood there waiting to hear what the call was about. He never really watched her in action.
“Now, calm down, ma’am. Help is on the way.” Tamia switched to the radio. “Cade, we have a 415 on Mayberry street past Trillium Avenue, they say it is in the middle of the street, can’t miss it. 10-4.” She switched back to the caller. “Ma’am, the police are on their way to you right now. Are they still fighting? Okay. Oh god! Cade, 10-71, 10-71 on Mayberry street!”
As soon as Charles heard the code, he was rushing out of the station to his car to provide backup for Cade.
It was only two hours later, did she get a call back from Charles saying that the fight turned into a shooting, but thankfully, no one was shot as the crowd who was there, rushed the two drunks who was fighting and then decided to shoot it out pinned them to the ground.
“I say that was very dangerous to the folks who did that. They should have let the police handle it.” Tamia stated.
“That is true, but they didn’t know they were going to pull weapons out. But they’re both arrested for discharging weapons and being drunk with a weapon.” Charles said.
“No one was hurt by the bullets?”
“Couple of trees as it could have hit a person.”
“A lucky break for everyone there, Captain,”
“Indeed, we’re coming in with both drunks.” Charles replied.
“10-4.” Tamia spent the next thirty minutes dealing with other minor problems, which really didn’t require police, firemen or ambulance services. After Charles and Cade came in with the drunks, the station was peaceful.
It was noon, when Charles came into the room and placed a box of pizza by her side. “Lunch time, now enjoy.” He smiled at her as he headed back to his desk to finish up with all the paper work that needed to be finished before he left for home.
By the time, Tamia got home from work, she didn’t have long to get dinner on the table when she heard a knock on her kitchen door. She hoped it was not her folks as she opened the door. “Esme, what brings you here?”
“We knew you had a short time before your folks get here, so Alice and I made dinner for your family when they arrive tonight.” Esme said, with a smile on her face as Alice held up couple boxes of food.
“Oh that is wonderful. Bring them in before they get cold.” Tamia replied, as she stepped aside and watched as they entered her home. She checked the road to make sure that her folks were not coming before the two ladies could get away. “My folks and older brother should be here soon and I barely have enough time to get dinner on.”
“Well, now you won’t have to worry about it.” Alice said, as she went to the stove and turned it on low as she peeled off the foil from one of the containers she had placed on the table to bring out rolls. “Everything else is nice and hot, but for the rolls.”
“It will be ready in about ten minutes and hopefully, by then, your family would be here.” Esme stated, as they hid the boxes in the pantry.
“Yeah, hopefully, they’ll be here soon.” Tamia said. “My dad will be hunting around here during his stay.”
“Oh we understand. We’ll come by tomorrow night to meet them and to let your father know where the boundaries are so he doesn’t get into trouble here.” Alice said, as she looked at her. She cocked her head to a side. “We better go, they are coming close. Edward just directed them to the proper road. It seems that your brother is the one holding the map.”
“He has no map sense at all. He can get lost in our backyard without any problems. I’ll see you tomorrow. You better rush, ladies.” Tamia said, as they rushed from the house and right into the woods just as a silver vehicle started to come down the road.
Tamia was thrilled to see her parents and welcomed them warmly into her home as they headed into the house. “I told you, mom, I can handle things on my own here. I even made you dinner.”
“Hopefully, your oven baked chicken with veggies.” Clare said.
“No, I decided to do something different tonight.” Tamia replied, as she plated the dishes and pulled the rolls out of the oven. “The rolls are oven warm, so be careful with them.”
Soon, they were eating the meal that Esme and Alice made for them. Tamia took her folks’ bags to their room and took her older brother’s bag to his room. She placed them at the door to their room so they knew which bedroom they were to take.
She stepped into the dining room. “I have to talk with dad about the boundaries to which he can hunt on as there is a peace treaty with the firstborns which is still in effect to this date.”
“Sure, I will need to hunt soon.” Richard replied, as he followed her to the living room.
“Mom, why does she get to become what dad is?” Gregory asked.
“Hush, you know the reason, Gregory, now be silent about it.” Claire stated.
“But mom, she’s nothing special!” Gregory whined.
“And you think you are?” Tamia replied. “I have the talents and the mindset for it, Gregory, not you. Remember that.” As she looked over at him, she straightened her shoulders preparing for the onslaught of rage from him. “If you dare start to throw one of your tempers here, I will fling you out of this house faster than you can say you’re sorry. This is my house and my rules. No rages . . . period. If you want to get yourself kicked out of this house and thrown into jail, go right a head and try, you will fail!”
Gregory glared at her as he turned back to his meal. He would get what he wanted from their father soon. He knew how to make his sister hide away from his rages and he’ll make her hide very soon.
Richard looked at his eldest son and shook his head. “Son, the Volturi has decreed that you are not to be turned. If I was to turn you, you and the entire family would be hunted down and killed.”
Gregory didn’t look shocked at all about the statement from his father. “They don’t have to know.”
“I’m sorry to burst your bubble, Gregory, but they would know the minute Aro touched my father or me.” Tamia replied.
“As if he would know it was dad who bit me,” Gregory snapped.
“Gregory, he would know. Aro is a touch sensitive vampire, he will know our thoughts the moment he places his hands on ours.” Richard stated, calmly. He knew Aro would find out if Gregory turned up vampire, who it was by touching either him or Tamia.
“Wear gloves around him.” Gregory snapped, as he turn his attention towards his dinner.
“That will bring up questions from him, Gregory.” Tamia stated. “No one wears gloves around him.”
Richard looked at him. “There was one who did wear gloves and Aro just touched his head instead of shaking his hand as normal. Found out that he was going to betray them, to which he broke his neck immediately. So wearing gloves will not protect you or this family as he could order the death of us all, along with yourself. So back off on that demand, Gregory.”
Gregory glared at his father and sister for once again denying him his birthright. He turned and looked at the furniture within the living room. “Nice sis. I didn’t think you would have this place dressed up considering your dislike of the holiday.”
“Well, considering I do not have to host the entire clan for Christmas, just you and our folks. I thought a little decoration wouldn’t hurt.” Tamia replied, as she looked at what she did to the living room with the Christmas tree and some of the other holiday decorations.
“Well, I think it is lovely.” Clare said as she looked at it. “So when will we meet your neighbors?”
“Tomorrow evening after we eat, mom,” Tamia said. She focused her eyes on her father. “They’re vampires too, but they’re vegetarian.”
Gregory looked at her shocked. “Vegetarians, impossible, all vampires desire human blood.”
“Not these and the Volturi had gone vegetarian years ago. Only the nomads still want human blood.” Tamia stated.
“Where can I find them?” Gregory asked.
“I don’t think you want to go in that direction, brother.”
“Why not, I have the brains to con them into giving me what I want, sis?”
“Oh, I think they will see right through your con, brother. They will not give you the immortality you desire, but death.” Tamia replied.
~~~~~~~~~
Alice had just placed the hot cookie sheet with the Christmas cookies on it, onto the cooling rack when she gasped in shock.
Jasper looked over at her. “Alice, what’s wrong?”
“We need to stop her from killing her brother!” Alice cried out, as Esme and Carlisle stepped into the room.
“Who?” asked Carlisle.
“Tamia, I just saw her strangling her brother.” Alice replied, as she went rushing to the phone where she quickly dialed Tamia’s house phone. “Yes, is Tamia there? – Oh okay, just let her know that I called and to call me back when she gets in. Thanks.”
“So?” asked Edward, looking at her.
“She stepped out to the barn to cool her temper down. That’s what her mom said.” Alice replied.
“Maybe she was thinking that but decided to go see her horses to cool down?” Emmett asked. “I know that’s what I did or go chopping wood for the fireplace back in the old days.”
“She probably did that. Maybe Jasper should pay her a visit to assist in calming down?” asked Esme.
Jasper shook his head. “It would be best if she calmed down by herself.” They looked at him. “So she can keep her independent streak and not depend on someone else.”
Alice looked over at them. “I’ll finish cooling down the cookies and we can decorate them and we can go visit Tamia and her family.”
Carlisle nodded as did the others. Jasper stood by Alice, once the others left the room. He turned to look at her. “She’s gone isn’t she?”
“She ran the minute she left the front step, Jasper. She’s going to run around the area till she’s ready to stop, which could be hours from now.” Alice replied, looking at him.
“Alice, where do you think she’s at right now?” Jasper asked.
“Why?” She asked, as she moved the cookies to the cooling rack. “Think she will go further than our range?”
“I do not know. She could go any where.” Jasper stated.
“Jasper, I’m worried as she told me how angry he can make her.”
“You’re afraid, she’ll do something to him.”
“If she didn’t leave, she could have killed him.” Alice stated. “She told me that she did try to slay him once before but her dad and younger brother got her off of him.”
Jasper shook his head. “I think her family is tortured by her older brother.”
“I have to agree with you there. The eldest is mental.” Alice replied, as she started to roll out the cookie dough for the next set of cookies to be cut and cooked.
“You mean crazy or just stupid?”
“Crazy. He thinks he knows what is good for him and yet he will not do what his folks would tell him to do with his health. He actually went for three months not having normal bathroom movements before he went to see a doctor or had an abscess dealt with and that he would moan and groan like he was in constant pain while he was around his family but as soon as he got into a public setting the moans and groans stopped but they returned once they were out of the public setting.” Alice stated.
Jasper shook his head. “And how long have they lived with this type of behavior?”
Alice picked up the cookie cutter and started to cut the cookies out. “Since 2004,”
“That’s five years!” Jasper whispered sharply. “Why couldn’t they just tell him to stop it when he first started?”
“From what Tamia stated, her folks did tell him to but he refused and kept doing it to where now if he’s in the living room in their home, he ‘rules’ the room and that’s not the worst part of it either.”
“There’s more to how weird her family is?” Jasper asked
“Yes, he throws tempers when he can’t get what he wants from his dad. It in a way, makes Tamia very upset, very emotionally distressed. The reason behind her move here was-”
“To get away from his rages?” asked a voice. They turned to see Edward standing there. “So now he’s in her home and probably had thrown a rage at her.”
Alice nodded silently.
“Can you sense her mind there, Edward?” asked Jasper.
Edward shook his head. “She’s hard for me to read. But I can read their minds from here and her folks are angry at him for chasing her out of her own home. Her brother isn’t even concerned about her. All he wants is to be one of us so he could do all the things that he wants to do.”
“Why doesn’t he go out and do it himself?” Emmett asked.
“Because as she puts it he’s lazy and expects it to come to him instead of going out and working for it.” Alice replied, as she placed the cookies on the sheet and putting it into the oven to bake for twelve minutes.
They all shook their heads. Emmett looked over at Edward. “Think we should go find her and bring her here for the night? At least, she’ll be away from him till tomorrow when she goes back to her home.”
Edward looked at him and nodded. “I’ll tell Carlisle and Esme to get the guest bedroom setup for her.”
Emmett quickly pulled out the map that showed the land around their home and that of Tamia’s. He scanned the possible locations that Tamia might have run to. He placed a black dot on their location and that of Tamia’s home.
Carlisle and Esme came into the room with Edward behind them. “Have you called them to get her on the phone?”
Alice shook her head. “They think she’s in the barn brushing her horses down.”
“But she’s not there?” asked Carlisle.
Alice shook her head. “She’s running around the area getting rid of her anger before she returns.”
Esme looked at Edward. “Call her cell phone and ask her to come here for the night.”
Edward nodded as he flipped open his cell and dialed her number. A few seconds later, he pushed the end button and looked at his phone weird. “She’s not answering it.”
“Well, keep trying.” Esme said as she turned to Emmett. “Now where are you going to head for?”
“I’m going to head to the east of Tamia’s barn, just in case she ran in that direction.” Emmett replied.
“Okay, bring her here when you find her, Emmett.” Carlisle said. “She might be cold by the time she stops running.”
Emmett nodded as he sprinted out of the house grabbing his winter jacket as he ran. Knowing that he wouldn’t be really needing to wear it but Tamia would if she didn’t grab a jacket when she ran out.
Esme looked at Alice. “Will the cookies be done by tomorrow afternoon?”
Alice checked the clock. “We should have cookies done by tonight at 10, mom.”
“Decorated too?” Esme asked.
“Of course they will be decorated too.” Alice replied, glancing over to see Jasper picking one of the icing bottles up and starting to decorate the cookies.
“Well, we’ll stick to the plan and go over tomorrow night to visit her and her family.” Esme stated.
They nodded but all were wondering about Tamia, before they headed off to do their own things.
~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning, they stepped from their home to find that another good ten inches of snow had fallen during the night. They were just about to get the road cleared off when the house phone rang off.
Esme came running to the boys as they were about to start shoveling snow from the garage doors. “That was Charles. Someone needs to go check on Tamia to see if she’s heading into work today. She’s not at work and she should have been about half an hour ago.”
Edward looked at her. “She’s probably taking it slow considering there’s new snow on the ground and we haven’t gotten to removing it yet.”
Emmett came walking into view of them. He did not look very pleased. “We have a problem.”
Carlisle and Jasper turned to look at him. “What’s the problem?”
“I came back from looking for Tamia. She was not within her barn and the tracks went to the barn. I found tracks muddled with the horses’ hoof prints till I got a ways away from them to find her tracks again. But she is heading north towards Canada unless she decided to go a different route. I do not think she is even around here at all.” Emmett stated.
Edward looked over at him. “Are you sure?” Emmett nodded. “Alice, can you ‘see’ her?”
Alice shook her head. “I can’t tell. She made the decision too fast. It was a spur of the moment decision for her to change where she was going.”
Edward swore. “We need to call the Wolf pack if they happen to have crossed paths with her if by chance that they did see her.”
Carlisle looked at him. “Do you think she would cross path with one of them, Edward?”
He just shrugged. “I’m not sure, but they might have seen her running.”
“Or at least scented her during their patrols,” Jasper said.
Carlisle shook his head. “Not if they were to stay on their side of the border, Jasper.”
Jasper looked at him. “Didn’t you give them permission if they scented someone in danger to cross it without breaking the treaty, Carlisle?”
Carlisle nodded. “I did but I doubt that they would without calling us or at least alerting us to something is wrong.”
“Should we call Jacob and ask him to send his boys out to search for Tamia?” Alice suggested.
Carlisle shook his head. “Tamia’s probably in town and sleeping in late today. She’ll be home by night.”
“And if she is not, dad?” Edward asked.
“Then, we will start searching for her.” Carlisle stated.
“Rhonda better not find out about her missing.” Emmett said. Jasper looked behind Emmett and motioned for him to stop talking. “She’ll be here within three hours of learning about it.”
“Tell me what?” spoke a female voice coming from behind Emmett.
Emmett turned to see . . . “Rhonda! When did you get here?”
“Just now,” Rhonda replied. She looked him in the eyes. “So what’s wrong?”
Emmett looked away from her as did Edward and Jasper. Carlisle looked over at her. “Tamia’s missing.”
“For how long,” Rhonda asked. Her hands on her hips as she gazed at Emmett.
“Since yesterday night,” Carlisle replied.
“It is possible that she ran to keep herself from killing her brother. Alice saw her run out of the house in a rage.” Esme stated.
Rhonda’s face grew dark as she looked at them. “When were you planning on going over there?”
“We were going to go tonight,” Carlisle said. “It would give her time to be with her family.”
“Why not go now? It would be no problem, if the Chief called you, then you have a good excuse to go by,” Rhonda replied. She looked at Carlisle and in a sing-song voice. “You are also her doctor.”
Edward looked over to Carlisle. “She got you there.”
“We will go as soon as the drive is cleared.” Carlisle stated. He turned to Esme. “Bring the cookies with us. It will be another reason why we’re there.”
Edward, Jasper and Emmett went full speed on clearing the drive so they could leave in another two minutes. They didn’t want to waste time anymore.
Three minutes later, they were in Emmett’s jeep heading for Tamia’s home to meet her family and to see if she had returned there or not.
As they pulled into the drive, they knew that her car was still there and the other car must be the rental for her folks. They climbed out of the jeep and started to approach the front door when a white haired woman opened the door. Carlisle smiled. “Is Tamia here? Her car is still here.”
The woman shook her head. “My daughter has decided to take an extended run around her property this morning. She should be back soon.”
Alice looked at her. “You do not have to cover for her, Mrs. Sanders. We know what she is as well as your husband Richard.”
The woman gasped in shock. “You know they’re vampires?”
“Yes, we’re all vampires, Mrs. Sanders.” Carlisle replied. “I’m Carlisle Cullen, and this is my family. This is my wife, Esme, our boys Edward, Emmett and Jasper. And this is our daughter-in-law Alice,” He proceeded to introduce them to her. “And this one here is Rhonda Thompson, your daughter’s best friend, who is also a vampire.”
“I’m Clare Sanders. Please come inside.” Clare said, as she stepped aside as they entered her daughter’s home. “I’m sorry but Tamia has yet returned from the barn.”
Emmett looked at her. “We know that because I was here last night looking for her.”
Clare’s face went from calm to that of shock. “Oh he didn’t chase her off.”
Alice smiled sweetly at her before her face went grim as she looked at Gregory and Richard who stood in the living room. “But he did. She told me how he forces his ‘control’ of the house over you and his sister when his father is not around nor behaves in a proper manner while around any of you. He throws tempers like a three year old child would, just so he could get his way. He did chase her off from this her very own home. You both knew how she didn’t like him and yet . . . here he is within her home and you watched as he chased her out into the night,”
Gregory glared at her. “So what did she say about me?”
Alice sent her glare at him. “That you torment the entire house because you are a lazy piece of crap who thinks money will come to you without really working hard at it.”
Gregory snorted. “So, the market got me once. I’m making money now.”
Alice smirked. “How much have you made since you lost half a million dollars in the currency market? Two dollars, that is not even enough to pay the IRS the debt you owe them for what you lost in the market. You refuse to even read their letters that they send to you to get the money from you. You refuse to get a job because they would just garnish your wages till it is paid off. You won’t even do an offer and compromise with them because you don’t want to do it. You need to get off your fucking lazy ass and go to them and do an offer and compromise and sell your coins that you have in your room to cover your debt to them and get a clean slate with them so you can move out of the family house and get a job as a tutor since you love tutoring kids so much and don’t do it online, in person is better since you can assist them far greater than over the computer."
Gregory lunged at her, but before he could move any further than where he had stood, a hand was on his throat.
“Edward, let her handle it.” Carlisle said, as he held his son back.
“He wants to kill Alice for her comment about him.” Edward replied, looking at Carlisle. “I read his mind.”
“I think that will not be his problem any longer.” Carlisle stepped away from Edward and approached Rhonda as she stood next to the prone form lying on the ground. Carlisle felt for a pulse and with his good hearing heard no heartbeat. He looked up to Clare and Richard. “I’m sorry for the loss of your eldest.”
Jasper turned to look at Emmett. “Haul him to the top of the stairs and push him down it. Fast before his body goes loose and releases his urine.”
Richard looked at them. “Planning to make it look like he fell down the stairs?”
Jasper nodded. “The best way since you know him best and know that he has a bit of a death wish. This will not be considered anything but an accident to the local police.”
“And with me as the doctor who heard him scream I’m going to kill myself to you all before we could stop him, he flung himself down the stairs in a fit of rage.” Carlisle replied. “You did report his rages back home correct?”
“Yes, we did and by the time the police came to our home, he was perfectly calm and collected and lied through his teeth about his rages but the evidence of his rages was there on the floor for them to see,” Clare said. “Tamia told us that he would do this to us, make us bear witness to his death.”
They all heard the thumps of Gregory’s body go down the stairs to land at an awkward angle with his neck bent at an angle and Emmett standing by Rhonda’s side.
“I guess I better call the police to report his death.” Richard said, as he picked up the house phone and dialed the number. Clare on the nod from him started to cry out her son’s name. “Yes, I need to report a death in my daughter’s home. My name is Richard Sanders and my son, Gregory committed suicide by throwing himself down the stairs. His neck is broken and Dr. Carlisle Cullen has already pronounced him dead. Yes, the address is ---”
Carlisle glanced at the body and with his eagle eyes could see that no bruising around the neck where Rhonda had grabbed him at was seen. It would not show up as someone breaking his neck. There would be no suspicions on them or anyone else in the house. But he knew it would show later. He turned to look at Richard. “You will have to demand a cremation immediately to keep the cause of his death secret.”
“I know. Gregory will be cremated immediately and no funeral.” Richard replied. “He doesn’t deserve a funeral as he cause heartache and pain in our lives.”
Clare smiled. “Now it means Tamia can return home to Missouri with us.”
Edward started to growl as he knew Tamia would never really return to Missouri ever again. She liked it there and she had her freedom from her overbearing mother. “I do not think she will go back.”
“Why do you say that? She’s my daughter and she will return home.” Clare stated.
“The only reason why is because she’s happy here.” Edward replied. “And she’s free from your overbearing attitude towards her. You never allowed her to do anything. You caged her more than you think, Clare. She’s not an animal and you did till she finally broke free of your hold on her and became the woman you see now.”
Clare started to say something when Richard stopped her. “No, he’s right. You have been very overbearing on her. She told me the day she left that there were two reasons why she’s moving out. Not because of the job, but because of you and Gregory. You with your overbearing attitude towards her making her feel like she couldn’t live on her own without you and Gregory making her home life miserable. The only joy I see her do is dealing with the nomads and being with her horses, which you had threatened to kill each time she tried to make her move out of the house. She’s a grown woman and come next year, she will become like me - a vampire.”
Clare went silent as they heard a police car heading towards their home. “I guess we best play the part of the grieving parents.” And with that, she started to cry in Richard’s arms.
Charles came into the house and was greeted by Dr. Cullen. “What happened?”
Carlisle looked over at him as they walked towards the body. “We stopped by to visit and we heard Gregory yelling at his folks and then he said I’m going to kill myself and ran off. Mr. Sanders told us that he would threaten to do something like that but never would follow through with it. The next sound we heard was him falling down the stairs. By the time, I got to him . . . he was already dead and by what I saw, he died of a broken neck.”
Charles looked at them. “So did he usually threaten suicide before?”
“Many times but he never did it till now. I guess to mar the new home of his sister with the image of his death being in her home.” Richard replied. “I do not want an autopsy done on him it is per our religion. Cutting into him is a sin and we would rather have him cremated as soon as possible.”
Charles nodded. “I’ll have the funeral home come and pick him up for immediate cremation.” He picked up his cell phone and dialed a number. After a few minutes on the phone, he turned to look at them. “He’ll be here soon.”
Clare picked up the plate of cookies that Esme and Alice brought over and held it to him. “Would you like some cookies, Captain?”
“Thank you, Mrs. Sanders.” Charles said, as he took one of the cookies from the plate. “So, where’s Tamia? Wouldn’t she be here?”
Richard spoke quickly. “She went running. Gregory got her pissed off and so not to punch him she headed off on a run around her property. She should be back in a bit.”
Carlisle wondered how long they could hold the police off on Tamia’s disappearance, he knew he would have to call on the pack for help if they’re to find her fast.
They stood around waiting for the hearse to arrive, when finally it did and the men came and got Gregory up into the coffin that they brought. The driver looked at Richard. “Let me get this correct, sir, you want cremation done on him immediately?”
“Yes, it is per our religion’s rules.” Richard stated.
“Alright, we’ll cremate him as soon as we get back to the funeral home.” He replied, as he jotted it down on his sheet and had Richard sign it, before he left the driveway with the remains.
Charles finished his cookie and thanked Mrs. Sanders for the cookie, telling her to let Tamia know that she can have a week off to handle the passing of her brother and left the residence for the station house, but as he drove away he glanced in his rear view mirror to see no movements coming from the Cullens. He wondered if they were going to have dinner with them when this happened. He shook his head as he directed his attention back to the road and drove into town.
~~~~~~~~~
Carlisle looked at them all. “I seriously think we need to get help with the search for Tamia. We may have covered her, this once, but next week will be another thing. Charles will start asking serious questions about her disappearing like this.”
Jasper looked over at Alice. “Can you see if she has made any choices?”
Alice looked deep within her mind for a moment before shaking her head. “Nothing, she’s on a one track mind right now and I cannot find her.”
