Author’s Notes: Howdy people thanks for all the reviews and I can’t believe I have over a thousand hits! Wow! Well if you like it please do review or if you don’t please do as well as I can work on improvements. Part Fourteen

Bella POV

I sat in the small tent with Jacob, with Seth outside on watch. They were planning to switch over every six hours or so. It was freezing! I could feel the heat radiating off of Jake from the other side of the tent but after Edward saw us together I felt a bit awkward being close to him. Silly I know.

“Bella, are you cold?” he asked me.

“Only a little bit.” I replied, shaking my head. “I’m fine honestly.”

“Bella...don’t freeze OK, if you don’t want to be around me right now I can get Seth.” He said calmly, but I knew I had hurt his feelings. Now he would be thinking I had changed my mind about being with him.

“I’m sorry Jake.” I said softly, crawling towards him. “I don’t really know why I’m being so stupid. You can keep me warm.” I nuzzled my way under Jacob’s arm and leant against him.

“Sure,sure.” He mumbled, I knew he wasn’t convinced.

I was an idiot. I knew it was going to be hard whichever way I chose. If I didn’t make a go of things properly....I might lose Jacob, but then remembering Billy’s words I knew that wasn’t true. Remembering the way Jacob felt about me suddenly gave me a warm butterfly feeling in my stomach and I couldn’t help but smile.

“Jake?” I asked, without looking up at him.

“Yeah?” he replied.

“Do you know why I chose you?” I asked him.

“Because you can’t have children with Edward?” he enquired. I looked up at him sadly. I tried to get him to look at my face.

“Is that really what you think the reason is?” I asked him.

“Bella I’m not saying you only what me for that.” He replied. “I know you love me. I just think that was the final decision maker.”

“Wrong guess again.” I said.

“OK...you don’t fight with me like you do with Edward.” He said, finally looking into my eyes. Even when he was sad he looked at me like I was the most wonderful thing in the world.

“Wrong guess again.” I laughed.

Jacob POV

I looked into her eyes and I instantly felt better. I could see she hadn’t changed her mind. Her guessing game now had me curious though. Both of the reasons I thought she had chosen me for were wrong. So her choice never did have anything to do with Edward’s plan. My heart leapt at that. She had really chosen me.

“I don’t really have any guesses left Bella, is it just that I’m so manly and a god in bed?” I asked, chuckling and pulling her into a hug.

“You spoil sport...it was fun watching you guess.” She sighed. “Do you remember when you were telling me the story of Sam, Emily and Leah? When you said it was hard to resist that level of adoration and commitment?”

My eye widened. She knew? How could she know? Or maybe she didn’t and meant something else...no...she knew.
“How long have you known about that?” I asked, blushing a little.

“Since yesterday. Billy told me.” She replied. “Don’t get me wrong Jacob...I didn’t choose you for just that. There were loads of reasons...but the biggest thing standing in the way was the fear that you’d imprint on someone else one day and I’d be left alone.”

I wanted to say it wouldn’t be like that but I knew that it would be. If it hadn’t been her, I could one day imprint on someone else. If I did imprint on someone else I wouldn’t be able to help it. But it was Bella.

“Well there’s no reason to worry about that.” I replied, squeezing her tighter to me.

“I didn’t know that until yesterday. It was like a huge barrier had been lifted and suddenly the future I had thought about could actually be possible one day.” She said, looking at me with those big brown eyes. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I didn’t want you to feel like you had to choose me just because I can’t live without you.” I whispered, pulling her face closer to mine for a kiss. We were interrupted by Seth’s howl. I knew the fight had started.
Jacob kissed me once more quickly and went outside to talk to Seth. I had horrible twisted butterflies in my stomach now. I just hoped everyone would be alright.

Jacob POV

Seth and I could see the whole thing through the other’s minds. The vampire army were going down in numbers very fast but there was so many of them it was only a dent. No one could see the blonde vampire woman that was after Bella. Maybe she was waiting until last.

I wanted to be there, to fight with them, but I knew protecting Bella was more important.

Edward POV

As I threw the remains of one of the newborns into the bonfire I caught a scent in the air for a moment. I knew it was Victoria. She was going away from the battle, knowing Bella wasn’t there. I followed her and I wasn’t long before she span around to face me. She obviously knew my scent too.

“Not running scared are you?” I asked her.

“I don’t run from anything.” She replied. “I was just wondering why your mate didn’t have the good grace to join us.” I did my best injured feelings look I could think of and then turned my face hard and cold again. I had to make this look real. “She’s not dead already surely? Her scent here is less than half a day old.”

“She was here just not with me.” I replied coldly. “She is no longer my mate.”

“And you let her live?” she asked, surprised. Then her eyes widened in surprised. “Oh you do love her don’t you? My,My.” She smirked. “You should know better than to get involved with humans. Their mind are so fickle...they change their minds like the wind unlike us.” That genuinely did hit a nerve. It was true. Bella was prone to changing her mind. I hoped that I would be able to change it again once this whole thing was over. Change her mind and have her pick me. “Then where is our favourite human hm?”

“How would I know? She has a new mate. I don’t think he would appreciate me skulking around behind them all the time.” I replied, my anger had got the better of me. I knew she wasn’t buying it anymore.

“A new mate? And you haven’t killed him either?” she asked. “No matter. I will just kill you then.”
With that I was thrown backwards as she flew for me. The fight was on.

Author’s Notes: please forgive me for being crap at the fight scenes. I’m going to have a few battle scenes in the next chapter hopefully so please forgive if they’re useless. Hopefully you’re enjoying the other parts of the story enough to over look it.
