Worth Fighting For
By Kassandra Ramsey
A/N Thanks to everyone who left a constructive review. I am sorry if the content warnings weren't clear for chapter one. I would never try to trick anyone into reading something that they didn't like. For the record, I'd like to say that this story is very contoversal, and completely different than my more light-hearted HP fics. As a writer I felt the need to branch out in a new territory for myself to see if I could do it. If you enjoy it, that's great. If not, sorry for wasting your time. This will not be a long fic. Four chapters at most and I should finish it by next weekend. Then, I will go back to writing 'Laws of Love'. Sometimes, you just need to write something new!
Warnings: AU (This story takes place near the end of the movie. It will be as if the Pevensies never returned to their own world.)
Lucy/Tumnus- A relationship b/t a faun and a human. Lucy loves Tumnus. She always has, however in this story I guess she is a bit OOC in that she didn't realize it right away. (Although I don't see how this makes her OOC from the movie b/c she was a child, and couldn't possibly feel that kind of love for Tumnus then anyway. We never saw how they reacted to eachother when she was older, so this is my take on it.)
Incest- Peter and Susan have a relationship in this. Again, I'm taking the impressions of these characters that I got when I watched the movie. I'm not condoing incest, nor do I practice it myself. This is called fiction, and if nobody wanted to read these kinds of things in stories then there wouldn't be so many posted.
Now, if you haven't been scared away yet, I do hope that you'll enjoy my little foray into fictional fantasy, aka: the piece of trash that a few reviewers want me to remove.
Chapter 2: Confessions
Susan took a deep breath and then pushed open the door to the dining room. Peter and Edmund looked up at her expectantly.
“She still refuses to come down,” Susan informed them sadly.
Peter’s face fell and Edmund looked angry.
“How is she supposed to figure out a way out of this if she won’t even come out of her room?” He demanded, stabbing a potato with his fork.
Susan gave Peter an earnest look.
“It’s been two weeks. She doesn’t want to talk to me. Peter maybe you could…”
“I’ve already tried.”
She looked startled.
“When?”
“This morning. Lucy informed me that if I didn’t have a solution then I wasn’t welcome,” he admitted miserably.
They were quiet for a few minutes before Edmund spoke.
“Have you gotten word to Mr. Tumnus?” He asked.
Susan nodded and frowned.
“He refuses to come. He says that she needs to come to him. That she needs this time to think about what she wants.”
Edmund cursed and jumped to his feet.
“Did he say if he would participate in the tournament?” Peter asked, ignoring his brother’s rude outburst.
She shook her head.
“I didn’t tell him about it. I only sent him a note asking if he would come talk to Lucy. I said that she had barricaded herself in her room and wouldn’t come out.”
“So, he might not even know?” Edmund asked.
Susan shrugged, tired.
“Well then. We’ll just have to inform him,” he announced walking toward the door.
“Are you going to send him another note?” Peter asked.
“No, I think that this is something that needs to be done in person,” he called over his shoulder.
The echoing boom of the door closing seemed to emphasize the fact that Peter and Susan were now alone.
Sighing, she slowly walked toward him and sat in the chair beside him.
Peter stared at her silently as she slowly filled her plate.
“Susan?”
“Hmm?”
“Could you do something for me?”
Her eyes lifted to his and she cocked her head to the side in question.
“Before this awful tournament business happened, you used to smile at me. All the time,” he said solemnly.
Susan didn’t say anything as he stood from his chair and walked over to her.
He used his foot to turn her chair toward him. Her eyes grew large as she stared up at him, half anticipating and half fearing what he would do next.
“You haven’t smiled in days. Please, smile for me,” he pleaded running a finger along her lips.
She gave him a small smile that lasted all of two seconds before her face crumpled and she started to cry.
Peter scooped her up in his arms and carried her out of the dining room. He resolutely looked straight ahead, refusing to meet the eye of any maid or guard that might cross his path. Up three sets of stairs, and down a long hall until he finally reached his suite.
He went straight through the sitting room and to his bedroom, kicking the door shut with his foot.
Peter lay his quietly crying sister on his bed, and removed her shoes. Pulling off his boots, he quickly maneuvered them both under the covers and pulled her against his chest.
“I love you Susan. More than I should, but I do,” he whispered against her forehead.
Her hands came up to clutch at his tunic.
“Me too, Peter. I need you so much. And every time another woman comes through the door, I’m so afraid that she will be the one to take you away from me,” she said on a sob.
His arms tightened around her and he began dropping chaste kisses all over her face.
“Never, my love. No one will ever take me from you. And I would never allow anyone to take you from me,” he said, gruffly.
“What do you mean?” she asked in a whisper.
“Haven’t you ever wondered why more men haven’t come to ask for your hand?” He asked.
“I know I’m not as pretty as Lucy and other girls…” she said, blushing.
“No, Susan. You are the most beautiful woman in the world to me,” he chuckled.
“You’ve ruined me for all others. And no man will request your hand because they all know they would have to deal with me.”
She gave him a real smile this time.
“Then I guess we’re stuck with each other,” she said.
Peter slowly lowered his lips toward hers, but she held up a hand to stop him.
“You would really fight for me?” She asked, uncertain.
“Of course I would. Don’t you know that you are worth fighting for?”
She didn’t stop him as kissed her this time. It was only one kiss that they shared that night. They simply held each other until they feel into a sleep that was much more peaceful than it would have been had Susan been in her own bed. However, the eldest Pevensie siblings had reached a turning point in their relationship. Whether it could actually work or not, only time would tell. At the moment they were content to just be together without worry or fear of what the future might hold.

“Mr. Tumnus? It’s Edmund. Can I come in?” The young king called as he rapped upon the faun’s door.
After a few minutes the door swung open and Edmund gasped at the sight before his eyes.
“Tumnus, what happened?”
The faun looked a bit bewildered by this question.
“What do you mean?” He asked.
“You look awful? Haven’t you been eating or sleeping?”
Edmund looked sorrowfully at the painfully thin form and bloodshot eyes of the faun.
“Well, I try. But, I don’t know, I’m just not really hungry. And when I try to sleep, I just lie there…” Tumnus trailed off and cleared his throat.
An awkward silence descended on them.
“I’d invite you in for tea, King Edmund, but I don’t have any. I haven’t been shopping in a while,” he admitted uncomfortable.
If Edmund had had any doubt of the faun’s feelings for Lucy, they had vanished upon see the miserable wretch.
“Faun Tumnus, as King of Narnia, I order you to come back with me to Castle Cair Paravel,” Edmund said firmly.
The faun’s mouth dropped open in shock.
“But, but I…”
Edmund narrowed his eyes.
“You would disobey a direct order of your king?” Edmund demanded.
“I wouldn’t wish to, Your Majesty,” he said, bowing slightly, “but I wish that you would rethink your order. This distance is good for your sister, and I…”
“My sister is miserable! And you are even worse! My whole family is downhearted. Well, no more! We are ending this tonight. Besides, the situation is more dire than even you know,” Edmund said, gravely.
“Is Lucy alright? Is she safe?” Tumnus demanded, and Edmund felt a pang at the memory those words brought up. The faun had asked him the same thing when they’d been in the White Witch’s dungeon years ago. It was then he realized that Tumnus had always loved Lucy. Even from the beginning.
“No, Tumnus, Lucy isn’t alright. She desperately needs your help…”

Lucy was experiencing the most miserable two weeks of her life. The time that wasn’t spent wracking her brain for a solution to her problem, was spent missing her best friend. She was furious that she had been forced to do the very thing that she had sworn not to do. Stay away from Tumnus. What must he think of her?
She missed him so badly her heart broke all over again every time she thought of him. This was the longest time they had spent apart since they had met. Perhaps she was in love with him.
Lucy wiped her face and forced herself to get out of bed. She walked through the glass French Doors that led to her own private balcony. Yes, being a queen had its perks.
“Oh, Tumnus,” she sighed as she looked toward the woods where he lived, “I can’t bear being apart from you any longer.”
“You don’t have to be,” said a very familiar voice from behind her.
Lucy whirled around in surprise.
Edmund looked back and forth between the two who were just staring at each other.
Sighing, he gave the faun a shove toward his sister, and then quickly left the room. His work was finished.
Lucy wasn’t exactly sure what had happened, but one minute they were staring at each other, and the next she was in his arms, and all was right with the world again.
“Tumnus, I don’t ever want to be separated from you again,” she breathed before tilting her head up so that their lips would meet.
They kissed and cried, ecstatic at being together again and depressed at the idea of the tournament.
“Of course I’ll do my best for you, Lucy. But I’ve never been the most skilled athlete. I’m afraid I don’t stand much of a chance in winning,” he admitted miserably.
“Shh, let’s not talk of such things now,” she said, kissing him again. Wondering how she had lived so long without knowing his kiss.
“What would you have of me, My Queen, My Love?” He whispered, staring deep into her eyes.
“Hold me, Tumnus. Hold me while I sleep, and be there still holding me when I wake,” she said.
And that was what he did.
They slept very well, just like Susan and Peter, holding each other, and offering security and comfort. In fact, the only ones in the castle who did not sleep well that night were Edmund, Denam, and Marcus.
The three were training with swords. The faun and centaur believed that Edmund was helping them ready for the tournament, when in fact he was readying himself. He had convinced Peter to allow human men to enter the tournament as well, and so Edmund himself would fight for his sister. And then he would give her to the faun. It wasn’t the best idea, and he wasn’t even sure if it would work, but he would try. He was King Edmund the Just, and he would not allow his sister to suffer so needlessly.
End Chapter Two
A/N: Tomorrow starts the work-week, so I can't promise when the next chapter will be up. However, I have a goal to have this thing finished by next weekend.
