Chapter Two: Worry and Wonder
The following morning the same group of teenager’s minus Simon stood out side the infirmary waiting for news on their new guest.
“Do you think Magnus saved her.” Clary looked worried.
“Of course he did other wise he would of been out a lot faster if she was a lost cause.”
“Jace don’t say that it’s rude, but seriously what's taking so long, it’s been 8 hours, I know she was pretty torn up but this long, something’s wrong.” Isabelle bite her lip glaring at the door as if willing it to open with news.
And as if on command Magnus came out looking a little worse for wear but with a very proud gleam in his eye.
“She’s still very weak, but she’ll make it, just wont be waking up anytime soon I’d think, If she wakes up within the week I’d say she’s a freak of nature, but she’s strong a definite fighter. With the way you lot handed her over to me I’m surprised she’s alive.”
“I’m so glad you where able to help, I have no idea who she is but for some reason something about her just makes me want her to be okay.” Clary looked toward the door with hope. “Can we go in?”
“Sure but she’s dead to the world either way. But I should worn you she doesn’t look to good, as you saw last night she took quit a beating.”
They group headed into the infirmary to get a better look at their guest. But what they saw made them all stop in their tracks. Even from across the room the cuts and bruises could be seen clearly. There wasn’t one inch of her sick that didn’t have a mark on it. Once seen in the light it was a surprise that she survived.
“Well I guess we can assume she went down with a fight, if she surrendered she wouldn’t be this bad.” Jace remarked while staring at the young woman.
“Well stubbornness is one trait all shadow hunters seem to inherit.” Magnus replied. ”It's a shame too, she looks like she’d be quit pretty with out the injury’s, we’ll just have to wait and see once she’s healed up.”
Clary looked over the young woman and regarded her features, she looked to be in her early twenties, with short hair that just reached her chin, cut in a slightly choppy way the color of melted dark chocolate. She had a relatively normal shaped faced with nothing really special about her features. Her build was athletic/curvy she kind of reminded Clary of an Amazon.
“I wonder where she came from.” Clary remarked.
“Well I guess we wont be getting any answers for a while, might as well head to bed cuz I don’t know about you guys but I’m beat.” Jace replied as he headed for the door.
“We’ll have to take shifts watching her, we don’t want her waking up and freaking out about the unfamiliar surroundings, special after what she went through, I really hope she wakes up soon, I want to know what exactly happened to her, why she was attacked.” Alec responded looking curiously over the young woman.
“I’ll take first shift, I can nap in one of the other beds near by, not like she’s wake up today.” Isabelle headed for a bed while the others went their separate ways.
