Mike POV

All that I could feel was pain, numbing and scorching pain. Breathing hurt and I knew that I couldn’t move. My head hurt the most, I don’t know why though……maybe I feel and bumped it. All that I wanted to do was open my eyes but it was a difficult task. It felt like weights on my eyelids holding them firmly closed. I couldn’t hear anything but white noise and that disturbed me greatly. I feel sick and weak. If only I knew where I was then I wouldn’t feel as scared.

Suddenly I could hear a soft voice among the white noise.

“Mike, sweetheart please open your eyes” Mike’s mother whispered softly.

“Nghhh….” The blond whimpered as he cracked open his eyes.

“Ohh Mike!!!!” his mother cried out as she held tightly onto Mike’s hand.

“Mom……where am I?” Mike asked softly with a wince.

“You are in the hospital honey, you just got out of surgery” Mike’s mother replied.

“Ohh…that must be why my head is killing me. Kind of makes me want to throw up” the teen gasped out.

Carlisle walked into the room and over to the blonde’s side. Mike looked up at the handsome doctor wearily.

“Hello Mike, my name is Dr. Cullen. You just got of surgery since you had a couple of fractures to your skull and a few fragments that had broken off. Your head is going to hurt for awhile since right now you are too weak to be put on morphine. In an hour or so you are going to have a transfusion to make you stronger. You are very lucky to be alive. Try not to move unless you absolutely have to, you need to rest and rebuild your strength” Carlisle said introducing and explaining himself.

“How….how long do you think it will take me to heal?” the teen asked.

“Honestly, a few months and maybe close to a year to fully recover. I will be your doctor through your healing process. Would you like me to have some of your friends come in for a visit?” the vampire doctor replied.

“Yes please and maybe something to drink as well” Mike smiled as he relaxed back onto the hospital bed.

“Of course” Carlisle smiled as he left the room but quickly came back with a cup of water followed by Bella, Edward, Jasper, Emmett, Rose and Alice.

Bela was near tears as she saw the blonde’s head bandaged up and an I.V. hooked up to his arm. Edward kept an arm around the teen’s shoulders and offered her a small amount of comfort. Mike’s parents moved back from the bed to let the teens get close to Mike.

“Hey guys” Mike said softly.

“Mike……how are you feeling?” Bella asked.

“Weak, tired, and in a lot of pain but overall never better” Mike replied as he tried to joke.

“Your assaulter has been taken care of, and you are going to be given a leave of absence from school until you get better. You don’t have to worry about being alone either since my father will be here and so will we” Alice smiled.

Mike nodded as he drank his water slowly. Bella sat beside Mike as everyone got comfortable. Edward leaned against a wall facing a window. Alice and Jasper sat in one of the few chairs in the room. Emmett and Rosalie chose to stand. Carlisle checked over Mike’ vitals and smiled.

“Mike how do you feel about trying to eat?” he asked.

“Sick but I need to” the teen answered as he sat up with help from Bella.

“I understand. I will get you some soup” Carlisle replied as he left the room along with Mike’s parents.

Sighing, the blond closed his eyes.

“Rest Mike, you need to” Bella whispered.

“Promise that I won’t be alone when I wake up?” Mike whimpered.

“Someone will be here with you, I can promise that” the brunette smiled as she held into the teen’s hand.

“Thank you Bella” the teen whispered as he closed his green eyes.

Edward came over and sat behind the brunette as she held back her tears. Alice just watched the two and leaned against Jasper. Rosalie walked out of the room along with Emmett.

“Bella go with Alice and Jasper to get something to eat, I will stay with Mike” Edward ordered gently.

“Come and get me if he wakes up” Bella sighed as she stood up with Alice and Jasper.

Edward made sure that everyone left before he gently stroked the back of Mike’s hand. The blond haired teen whimpered before relaxing again. The bronze haired vampire pulled a chair up next to the bed and sat down. A few thoughts floated into Ed’s mind.

‘Pain….hurt…..blood….scared’

Edward kept a firm hold onto Mike’s hand as he closed his eyes.

‘I feel…warmth???.......Who is it?’

The bronze haired vampire teen smiled and relaxed as he listened to the strong heartbeat form Mike. The blond haired teen sighed out in his sleep and tightened his hand in Ed’s grasp.

“Mike……I promise that I will try my hardest to never let you get hurt again. I feel very protective of you, you are the second person that has me feeling this way” the Vampire whispered.

Mike gasped out in his sleep as his hands shook. Edward pulled his hand into his lap and kept his eyes closed as Mike cried out. Fear filled panting filled the room before the blond haired teen awoke.

Mike panted with fear as he looked around the room with wide eyes. The teen relaxed as he spotted Edward resting next to him. Shivering, the green eyed male reached out slowly to touch Edward. ‘I wish I could be strong…like you are. You have the love of Bella while I have no one’ Mike thought sadly. Before his hand could touch the cold skin of the vampire, Mike stopped and brought his hand back onto the bed. ‘I hate nightmares, I wish that they would go away. I want to sleep peacefully, like Edward is….’ the blond whimpered before going back to sleep.

Edward opened up his gold eyes and looked down at the teen. A small smile was on Mike’s lips making Edward smile. The vampire carefully stood and left the room. Mike’s parents quickly came into the room after the vampire left.

Bella picked at her food making Jasper growl.

“Bells, stop playing with your food and eat. You will do us no good if you starve yourself” Jasper said harshly.

“I’m sorry Jaz, I am just worried even though Mike is in the best hands that he can be” Bella replied as she pushed to plate of food away from her.

“Isabella Marie Swan you need to stop worry about Mike and eat” Edward said with a frown as he sat down beside the teen.

“Don’t say my full name!!! You make me feel like a kid” Bella whined.

“I will keep saying it until you eat a decent amount of food. I know that you didn’t eat much of lunch, unless you make me to call your father and Esme and tell them that you are not eating right then take care of yourself” the gold eyed teen smirked.

“Evil” the brunette grumbled as she pulled the plate of food back towards her.

Edward watched over the teen like a hawk as Bella picked at her food before eating slowly. Jasper smiled and pulled out his phone as it started to vibrate. Rosalie fixed her makeup in a small mirror that Emmett was holding for her.

Bella pushed the now empty plate of food away from her and laid her head onto the table. Alice gently rubbed her back and petted her hair. Whimpering, the brown haired teen closed her eyes.

“Bella I think I should take you home so that you can rest. You can come back tomorrow to visit Mike” Alice whispered.

“Ok……” the teen replied weakly as she sat back up.

“I will call if anything happens, get some rest” Edward said as he kissed the teen’s forehead.

Alice wrapped an arm around the teen’s shoulders and led her out of the hospital. Jasper followed after the two closely as he talked into his cell. Edward leaned back in his chair and ran cool hands through his hair. Rose looked at her brother and smirked.

“It seems that you love them both” she laughed.

“Hush Rosie” Edward growled.

“You want them both so bad that it is killing you. You don’t want to be away from Bella at a long length of time and now you want to protect Mike from any and all dangers. That sounds like love to me” Rosalie grinned.

“So……what should I do about this?” the vampire male asked.

“Tell Bella first since she understands us, then be friends with Mike and over time get him to fall in love with you. Bells can help out there as well” the blond vampire smiled.

“Then you can have two lovers to worship you and love you and be with you forever” Emmett snickered.

Edward growled as he stood up. ‘Leave it to him to make fun of me’ the vampire thought as he walked back towards Mike’s room.

Mike groaned as he woke up slowly. Everything was black and the teen couldn’t hear anything. ‘Where am I?!!’ Mike thought panicked. Sitting up, the blond fell out of bed, ripping out his I.V. needle. Shadows danced in front of the teen making him more panicked.

“AHHHH!!!” Mike screamed as the shadows got closer.

His parents watched with fear filled eyes as Mike backed into a window like a cornered animal. Nurses were in front of him trying to talk and soothe him but for some reason the blond could not hear them.

“GET AWAY FROM ME!!” the teen screamed louder as he unlocked the window.

“MOVE!” Edward growled as he rushed past the nurses and grabbed a hold of the screaming male.

Carlisle was right behind his son and holding onto Mike. The human teen was screaming and struggling in the two vampire’s holds.

“Mike, calm down!” Edward said as he tightened his hold.

“MONSTER!!!!! LET ME GO!” Mike cried out.

“Shhh….you are safe, no monsters can get you in here” Carlisle whispered as he ran cool fingers through the blond hair.

Mike panted and stopped struggling in Edward’s arms. Carlisle kept whispering to the teen and petting him. Edward slowly loosened his hold around the teen and led him back over to the bed.

“Mike lay back down and relax for us” Carlisle instructed.

“No…monsters?” Mike whimpered.

“We chased them all away” Edward replied.
Mike blinked and looked up at Carlisle and Edward with tear filled eyes. Edward gently stoked Mike’s cheek and smiled.

“Did you have a nightmare?” he asked.

“Yeah……I dreamed of red eyed monsters coming after to” Mike answered in a small voice.

Edward nodded as Carlisle reinserted the I.V. needle. Mike shivered and started to close his green eyes. Mike’s parents came closer to the bed and kissed the teen’s forehead.

“I am going to keep a close watch on him through the night” Dr. Cullen explained.

“Thank you for your help. We are going to head home so that Mike can rest. Please call us if anything happens” Mike’s mother said softly.

“I promise that I will I am going to give him a sedative to help him sleep for the night” the vampire doctor replied as he brought out a small needle.

Edward covered the teen’s eyes as Carlisle administered the sedative. Soon Mike was restfully sleeping.
