He would often dream about his large guardian angel, Even after twelve years the visage of that hulking giant haunted his dreams. The slow raggedy melody of a broken music box would echo forth from his closet, escaping the box where he kept mementos of his childhood. All of his old forgotten playthings would escape and put on a parade for him, Then the last of them would step out. He had to duck under the door to gain entrance to his room and once he did he towered over everything. His bright golden eyes fell on him and a dimpled smile adorned his gorgeous features. He would sit on the edge of Blake's bed and extend his arms where Blake would climb into them. Then it would stop and leave him wanting more. It had pounded into his mind from daybreak to every fantasy moment of every dawn.
Blake Dresden lay in his bed, Staring at the pale blue ceiling as he did so. The seventeen year old lay buried in his blue comforter, shivering as he did so. Even after twelve years the harsh mornings in Forks, Washington were one that he doubted he could ever get used to. His mother and Step-father moved him here after his mother needed a change of space. At first Blake hated it here but if it weren't for his best friend Heather he would have gone insane along time ago. Everybody here was hopelessly stuck, as though staying in this small town was all they craved. Blake mulled this over as he exited the shower and ran a towel through his blond hair, He used gel to neatly coordinate his hair as he did so. The teenager took a step back as he looked himself over in the mirror and stepped backward so he could gain entry into his bedroom. His bedroom was plain, A large bed with dark blue comforters decorated one side of the room and a computer existed on the other side with a medium size book case that was there for show, As most of the shelves were empty aside from a few knickknacks. A few mirrors and posters decorated the pale blue that adorned the walls of his room. Down the hall existed his parent's room, His mother hadn't aged over the years and she didn't look a year of thirty. His step father was a bit taller then him and had dark red hair and a bit of a mullet going on which was fine because that was what was considered 'In' At his work.
He wore casual clothing as he stepped out of his front door, Adorned in a jacket with fur hooding and semi-tight fitting jeans he glanced around at first. His mother and father were both at work and Amber wasminute pilgrimage and he had no trouble trekking to school, unless it was raining of course. He pressed onward and started walking, His pocket started to buzz and upon opening his phone a familiar female voice rang into his ear. "Blake, you're late again." Heather chirped into the phone "I know." The boy agreed in a care free tone "Get here so we can talk, It's been three days since I've seen you last." She spoke with a smile obvious in her voice "I'm running." He stated sarcastically with a smile "Ha Ha, Shush and get over here now." She demanded as she hung up the phone. Arriving at the high school Heather waited for him in front of the gate. Heather considered herself and Blake the best looking people in forks as she described them as "People who don't look like they live in some hick town." Which was true because Heather was wearing a corset skirt that was adorned with a pink ribbon and a matching headband. She looked like she stepped out of teen vogue, Then again she did every day.
"Blake!" She reached forth and pulled him into a forceful hug, For a girl she could generate one mean bear hug. "Hello." Blake responded hugging her back as he did so. The two walked with each other to the spot they usually congregated, Heather sat on the ledge of the large tree decorating the courtyard and looked out at the other students. She wrinkled her nose as a new girl walked past them, looking like she had rolled right out of bed. "Such a waste, That girl would be pretty if she used make up." The Asian girl sighed and rested her forehead against Blake's shoulder. "You know what I noticed? I know this is random but those Cullen kids don't talk to anybody." She spoke as she sat up, looking at Blake. The blond agreed with a nod of his head "Hey, Maybe they're stuck up?" He offered with a weak smile "They are not prettier then us." Heather answered with another smile "I say we befriend them, That way we can look cool." She joked with a laugh, Blake laughed along with her. It was then that he saw a jeep pull up in the distance. Compared to the rest of the cars here it was nice, but whom was behind the wheel was the real eye candy.
Emmett forgot the blond boy he'd found in the toy store. Especially not the sweet scent that made his mouth water. Fast forward a little more than a decade and they were back in Forks. All of them. It never took them long to come back together when they broke apart to go on their own. They were too tightly bound for something to keep them apart for long. They returned to Forks and took up their lives once again. To their expectations, Forks had remained virtually unchanged. They were happy for that fact. This place was the closest any of them had to a true home so it was nice to know that they could come back and be at ease once more. Once again, they enrolled into high school and started playing student once more, keeping a healthy distance from the rest of the students. On a rare occasion, he would catch a whiff of that smell that drew him so strongly to human blood, but he forced it away. It was always far enough that he could push the scent out of his mind without too much trouble.
Today was supposed to be cloudy without rain, so Alice decided that today would have a white theme to their outfits. She always did that on school days. Giving them some factor that tied their outfits to each other to make it more obvious that the Cullens were together as though dressing to match made them even more unapproachable. And who was to say that it wasn't so? For one reason or another, not many people worked up the courage to approach any of them. Emmett was dressed in pinstripe slacks, a white button-up, and a silver vest. He hopped out of the jeep, offering his hand to his bride with a dimpled grin. The blond came around the jeep, dressed in a white skirt with a metallic gray shirt and a matching shawl. Edward's Volvo pulled up not long after the jeep, carrying Alice and Jasper. All were wearing a similar outfit unique to their individual tastes, all donning the Cullen crest as they always did. They waited silently for the bell to ring, occasionally striking up a meaningless conversation just to seem a little more normal. Emmett, of course, ended up starting to playfully wrestle with Jasper.
Blake leaned back against the cobble stone wall and glanced toward Heather, She was talking to her new friend Hugh, He looked like a decent guy and Blake approved of him. Now if only he could do something about his own current situation, He had been single for about a year and a half now. His last girlfriend was a small fling that he grew tired of, Plus she didn't like Heather so she had to go. Blake watched the Cullens stride out of there cars, It was like a commercial and the rest of the students of forks where stand ins. The large one, Emmett? Stood out of his car and seemed to tower over everything and anybody with his height and muscular form rocking the ground with every step. His girlfriend, The blond chick followed behind him. Blake, being so self-righteous never bothered to consider anybody but himself and Heather pretty or handsome. Emmett on the other hand was just plain adorable, His face was chiseled and soft. While it was obvious that he was mature he still had childish features and short, dark curly hair that Blake longed to run his fingers through.
As the muscled man started to walk away from his Jeep, Blake couldn't help but let his eyes wander. His jaw nearly dropped once he got a good glimpse of Emmett's rump, It was large, round and juicy. The blond cleared his throat as he did so, forcing his blue eyes away from it as he did so. "Blake, Quit staring." Heather teased with a light grin as she punched him on the shoulder "I am not staring." Blake informed her with a childish roll of his eyes "Mhm, I'm sure." She agreed as she looped her arm around his and started toward class. Blake & Heather held three classes together, English, Math and History. First hour was Physical Education and Heather was kind enough to drop him off. He waved her goodbye as he did so and turned to face his class. "Wait." She motioned for him to step closer "I got this for you yesterday, It reminded me of you." She said fumbling with the pockets of her dress, pulling out a small button with a teddy bear on it she latched it to his shirt where she clumsily attached it. "There, It looks good." She stated with a smile as she turned around "Thanks?" Blake stated with a tilt of his head "Wear it, It matches."
The blond quickly got himself dressed in his P.E uniform which consisted of a gray shirt and blue shorts. At first he didn't mind it, He felt a slight head rush and he almost stumbled over. Everything started to spin and smear for a slight moment, When everything cleared a tall figure faded away into the distance. If it wasn't for his gym teacher yelling at him over his shoulder he would have followed it. Telling Heather of his troubles at lunch didn't help him at all, She just smiled and called him crazy. "It's nothing, You just got light headed. It happens." She assured him as she took her seat, Blake sitting right beside her. "I think you should befriend them." Heather purred with a devious grin "Just think about it." She said with a starry glint in her eyes "We can get them where we need them, We befriend them and we become popular and mysterious too." Heather crossed her arms a bit and pursed her lips in thought. "You're the sociable one, Go talk to the big one first. You like him." Heather teased as Blake stood up, A hand shoved Blake forward placing him in the middle of the cafeteria. Immediately he started off toward the table, He would've turned back if it weren't for Heather's eyes being on him the whole time, Not only that but the eyes of his fellow student's where on him as well. His cheeks were painfully red as he approached the table, From what he saw the table was empty aside from the giant bear that sat straight across from where he stood.
The hulking masculine form slowed for a moment as he walked away from the blond. A breeze carried a certain impossibly alluring scent to his nostrils and his golden eyes drifted over the scenery to find the source. His honey eyes locked on the blond for a brief moment, a predatory smirk curving his lips. His wife didn't stop like he did and she pulled him along when the pause made him take too long. He turned back to the blond and smiled at her as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders. At lunch, the large man was the first to arrive. A tray of cafeteria food sat in front of him completely untouched. His attention was drifting in and out of the room, locating his fellow vampires before he began to focus once again on the cafeteria. It was then that he realized that smell he'd caught before was growing stronger - getting closer and closer by the second, paired with the sound of footsteps. The large man stood, knowing that if he stayed cooped up in the cafeteria he'd end up making a mistake. He'd go outside. Away from family support, yes, but somewhere that the smell would not be confined into a small space where it would entice to the point of action. He'd go upwind. Where the smell would be more bearable if the person even chose to continue pursuing him. He threw a glance to blond boy approaching him before he moved towards the door at a pace slow enough to indicate he was open to being followed. Outside, he leaned against the wall, crossing his arms over his chest.
Did he do something wrong? Blake mulled it over for a bit as the large stranger steadily stood up and towered over him. Emmett was enchanting, He was handsome, tall and had all the mannerism's of a gentleman from a long forgotten novel. If it weren't for the fact that the man was something that seemed to step out of his dreams, The blond would have retreated the moment the other spun around and started toward the door. Blake followed after him in a slow and clumsy fashion, He wanted to follow but the little voice in his head was telling him to do otherwise. The moment the other's piercing gold eyes touched his he felt his blood turn cold and the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. Despite his worries he pressed on, He wanted to have a conversation with the large man and nothing more.
Blake wondered if he would be regarded as a hero for working up the courage to speak to a Cullen, Not only that but he was talking to the largest of the bunch. Once outside the cold air slapped against his face, He shoved his hands in his pockets and shot a friendly smile to the stranger on the opposite side of him. Emmett was even better looking up close, Never had he seen someone whom's muscles where so well defined. Even with his arms crossed over his chest the man's pecs were so defined and bulbous Blake did nothing but stare for a moment,He reminded himself what his mission was and forced his blue eyes on the man's gold. What an unusual eye color. Blake thought for a moment as the cold bit at his bare neck. Blake shrugged off the cold with a carefree grin as he continued to step closer to the male "The name is Blake Dresden." The blond introduced himself offering the other his hand in a polite manner, His smile never fading from his tanned face.
The large vampire's golden eyes examined the blond boy that followed him out of the cafeteria. This male had already won some sort of respect from the largest Cullen. It took balls to approach them at all, and much more to start at the top of the food chain by approaching the biggest and most intimidating of the group. He happily forced himself to look even more intimidating by tensing his muscles, a sinister smirk on his lips. He saw Blake staring at his muscles longingly, his smirk growing widely. He cleared his throat to draw Blake's gaze up to his face and raised an eyebrow. He glanced down at the human's, but didn't move from his position against the wall. He didn't want to touch the blond and have him curious about his hands were so incredibly cold when he appeared so very healthy.
"I would introduce myself, but the whole school seems to know each of us personally." He replied, his golden eyes once again sliding over the human's form. "I assume there is a reason that you approached me?" He asked curiously, eying the blond. "If you're looking to get to Alice or Rose through me, it isn't going to happen. Both are taken. You should know that." He replied simply, straightening his vest.
That statement couldn't have been any more true. The Cullens were a subject of mystery and wonder, Everybody stared but no one talked to them. Gossip constantly flitted out and about Blake's ears, Apparently Edward had schizophrenia or something of that nature & Alice had some sort of clairvoyant ability. Blake's cheeks were dusted a light pink as he was forced to remember to manuever his eyes on the other's face. "No reason at all, I just wanted to talk." Blake held a smile on his face and allowed his eyes to sparkle with curiosity and kindness. The blond couldn't help but laugh at the mention of getting to Rosalie and Alice. "No, I'm not interested in them at all." The blond then cleared his throat and forced his attention back on Emmett. "I'm interested in bigger and better things." The blond gave hints that he was attracted to the other's large stature and form through subtle comments.
Blake when nervous rocked back and forth on his heels, he had to do something else to make sure he didn't seem like a bumbling idiot. The blond mindlessly reached up and started to fumble with the pin Heather had attached to him this morning. Blake winced a bit and stared down at his finger, A small bead of blood collected at the head of his index finger. The pin fell to the floor with a small thud and Blake looked upward at Emmett "Just my luck." The blond stated as he knelt down to grab the pin.
The muscled bear of a male couldn't help the dimpled grin that formed on his lips. He kind of liked this kid. He was bold and knew how to flatter a man just enough to entice him. The large man pushed off the wall, willing to play along for a little while. If he was going to have to interact with a human, he might as well have some fun. "Bigger and better, hm? Got anyone in mind?" He replied with a dimpled grin. "You might just have better taste than I would have expected from you." The tall man chatted. "Maybe that explains why you stand out a little bit more than most."
He watched Blake fidget under his steady gaze, the grin lingering on his lips. Then things went bad. He forced himself to stop breathing as the scent of blood flooded his nostrils. When Blake was focused on his finger, the vampire disappeared. The human was so appealing to him that he couldn't stop himself. It was either run or feed.
'I do." Blake admitted care free happy that the other male was open to such interaction. The blond was afraid that he would get punched or something of that matter upon saying that, Luckily nothing of that sort happened and he was allowed to keep his face. "If I stand out why haven't you come up to me yet?" Blake asked curiously as he stepped closer to the other male. The cologne that fluttered about Emmett entered his nostrils, He took it in and let a smile of bliss cross his features. As Blake bent over he knelt down and scooped up his pin. Upon looking up Emmett was gone and out of sight, Blake looked around once more and saw no one about him. Heather then appeared out of the cafeteria and approached him "How did it go?" She asked curiously looking for the large vampire as well "I..Don't know. We talked for a bit, And I pricked myself." He fretted showing her the small bead of blood "Stop being a baby." Heather said in a whiny voice mocking Blake "Did you piss him off?" She asked "No, Not at all. In fact I would say I was getting on his good side."
Later that night Blake lay in bed, Tossing and turning. The cologne that had entered his nose had stayed there all day and he was no tormented with the lingering scent of Emmett in his nostrils. Blake then sat up in bed, The rain slammed against the window and an occasional pang of thunder would echo in the distance. This was forks at it's finest, And he had grown used to it.
