A/N: It's kind of hard to naturally work into a chapter how old the kids are, and how old they look. I've been hearing from some of you that are confused about it. If you are okay with it, feel free to skip this part. This was mentioned in the last chapter, but for those of you who are unsure, here is a more detailed list. Here is the deal with them at the start of part III which is set in the month of August. -Anthony is 7, will turn 8 in November, he looks about 15. -Swan is 7, will turn 8 in April, she looks about 16. -The twinnies just turned 7 in August, they look about 13. -Asa turned 4 in July, so just before the start of part III, he looks about 9. The general rule is, they age twice as fast as normal humans. This depends on how much vampire they have in them. That is why Swan and Asa age faster then their siblings, and why the twinnies age a little slower. Our little ladies are the most human out of the bunch. So twice as fast, just add a year for Swan and Asa, subtract one for X and Mollie. Like Nessie, their mental age is always a few years ahead of how old they look.
Another random note, the wolves (actual ones) that are mentioned are orphaned ones the family sort of took in after their mother was killed by a trap in the woods,
*Renesmee*
"Mom! Swan is still humming!" Xandra whined.
"And we can hear her music. What's the point of her having headphones, if everybody else in the car can hear it?" Mollie added.
"Swan, turn it down, and knock it off, or that thing is mine," I said. She scowled. "Don't act like you can't hear me, either." She heaved a dramatic sigh.
"Momma she isn't doing it!" Asa cried.
"Sweetie, relax," I said.
Swan made a big show of raising her arm, lowering it again to her hip where her mp3 player was attached, and turning down the volume.
"Okay, she did it," Asa said.
"Dad, how many more hours til we get there?" A.J. asked.
I answered for him. "A million!"
"Come on, really. How many," he insisted.
"About three," Jake said, looking at him in the rear view mirror.
"Three is a prime number," Anthony said randomly.
"Anthony!" Swan exploded. "Nobody gives a crap about what you learned on math is fun dot com!"
I groaned, as Anthony started muttering about creating a website called Swan is a brat dot com.
"Make sure you get my good side for the website picture," Swan said, not looking at him, instead looking down at her music player and selecting a new song.
"She must mean her butt," Xandra whispered to Mollie, they both dissolved into giggles.
"I can still hear you two jerks," Swan muttered.
"Here's what is going to happen: nobody is going to talk, for the next fifteen minutes. Unless you are bleeding, I don't want to hear from you," I said.
I sat and enjoyed the silence.
I'd thought the trip would be easier then the first time we moved. True, they were all potty trained now. They also were much more verbal. Constantly. We were nearing the end of our two day journey and I was sick of being cooped up in the car.
I tried to think about how wonderful our new house was. It would have been nice to go back to the old one, but weren't going back to Forks, we'd be living over in La Push.
I'd designed it myself, with a little help from Nanna. I knew exactly what kind of house we needed, and wanted. The main things were lots of space, and lots of seating. This side of the family would definitely not be comfortable standing all night like mine was. We wanted to have people over all the time, and have lots of room for them. Another important thing, was a ramp outside for Billy.
I hadn't even seen the house in person yet, but I'd been given a several Skype tours, courtesy of Rachel. She and Paul had supervised all the construction, and the deliveries. Except for the few special pieces we were bringing, all of our furniture was already there, everything was ready for us.
Inside the front door was an entry way. There were shelves for shoes, a place to hang coats, and I was thinking about putting some large potted plants in there for Asa to play with.
He had excellent control of his gift by now. He could influence any kind of plant life, it seemed to work on everything. He could cause them to wither and die if he wanted to, but that's no fun. He much preferred to make things grow and bloom. He'd figured out how to adjust the colors of things, too. If a flower was blue, he couldn't turn it to pink, but he could change the shade. At the old house, I had a blue morning glory that was slowly climbing the trellis on back wall. I'd watched him as quietly as I could, as he spent an entire afternoon sitting on the grass in front of it, with his eyes closed and a smile on his face. Some of the flowers turned bright vibrant blue, others to almost white, barely there pastels, and every shade in between. When he was done, it was breath taking. So was the pleased look on his face when he finally opened his eyes. In that moment, I let him be and didn't disturb him. Later though, I made sure he knew how proud I was of him for having mastered his gift.
In the center of the new house, was the sitting room. Like the name suggests, there was lots of seating, including a cool looking Davos chair with no arms. There was a new home for our fish in there, we'd given Gabriel the old one, along with the fish that was his. Anthony convinced Paul to set it up before we got there. So the poor little fishies that were currently swimming in separate baggies in a cardboard box, on A.J.'s lap, would be able to go right in.
Off to the left was the rec room. Just outside of it, was the downstairs bathroom. There was lots more seating, plus the television, the stereo, and everything that went with them like the shelves for DVDs and CDs. The main feature was Jake's only big request about the new house, the pool table. He was excited about being able to have his brothers over for a game.
"If we get this, I have one condition though," he'd told me. It turned out, he had a few ideas about me, him, that pool table, and an empty house.
"Oh, Jacob please. That's so cliche!" I said.
He touched my thigh suggestively, and laughed softly. "Just one time, just to say we did it."
As we browsed at pool tables on his laptop, in bed, he whispered in my ear and got very specific. By the time I clicked the confirm order button, he had me on board, and that was the last of our shopping for the night.
On the other side of the rec room, was our bedroom. We had our own walk in closets, and en suite bathroom, and a lovely picture window. I was looking forward to sprawling out on the chaise lounge in front of it with a good book.
We liked having our bedroom on the downstairs floor, so we did the same thing again. At first it came up just as a joke, but we had it sound proofed. I thought it sounded a little over the top, when Jake suggested we seriously do that. Then he asked me a question that made up my mind.
"Do you wish your parents had a soundproof bedroom when you were little?"
The answer was a resounding yes, that really put it in perspective. Soundproofing may seem a little over the top, but we are hopefully going to be here for a while. It was for the best, all seven of us would be happier that way.
On the opposite side of the house was a dining room, with a nice big table, and the kitchen. Inside the kitchen was a little pantry, with another fridge and some storage space. The laundry room was also over on that side of the house.
Upstairs, were all the bedrooms, plus the office. The twinnies rooms and the office were on the same side of the house as our bedroom downstairs. Everybody else was on the other side, and in the middle of the floor we had two bathrooms that were connected. There was one for the girls, and one for the boys. Swan was ecstatic at not having to share a bathroom with her brothers.
Before Nana and I even started working on the plans, Jake warned me not to have the outside looking too "flashy."
"La Push just isn't like that. We'd stick out like a sore thumb, for one thing. I don't want it to look seem we are trying to show off or something. Remember what a big deal it was when Rach got a paved driveway?" he'd said.
So we were going to cool it on the landscaping. Hardly any out front, and just a little in the back for Asa to play with. I saved my dreams of big beautiful bay windows for another house, someday, and went with some more plain looking ones instead, and less of them then I'd originally wanted. We went with simple white siding. Less is more, right? I wanted to be able to blend in.
Jake reached over and squeezed my hand. I followed his eyes to the clock in the dashboard. It had been 23 minutes since my ban on speaking.
"You guys can talk again," I said. They did, but very quietly. Smart move.
Once we were an hour from home, it was so wonderful to call it that again, we stopped for gas.
"If we fill up now, we'll still have three quarters of a tank and we'll be set for a few days," Jake said.
When we pulled off to the rest stop, Seth behind us followed. Mollie hopped right out and ran to talk to him.
"Look, Mom. Pet exercise area," A.J. said, reading a sign out loud. "Can we let the wolves out for a minute?"
"I don't think that's such a good idea. They can run around plenty when we get home," I said. I doubted the other travelers would like that.
I pointed out a cute little elderly couple, shuffling out of building, each with a coffee in hand. "What do you think those two would think about three wolves running past them right now?" I asked Anthony.
He giggled. "I guess they aren't really normal pets, huh?"
"Yeah, not so much," I agreed.
"But they're good ones."
"For sure."
The rest stop didn't have any hot food, just snacks. Swan and I both found that disappointing. We had pretty similar eating habits. There were lots of human foods we liked, but nothing was as satisfying as red meat, preferably slightly undercooked.
"This is mostly crap," Swan muttered, crossing her arms and scanning her choices. We watched her brothers and sisters happily depositing change into the vending machines.
"I know. It's hard to find things we like sometimes." Eventually we settled on some potato chips, bacon flavored. It just wasn't the same though. As we all sat at a couple of somewhat rickety tables and munched away, I looked at the vending machines and remembered when I was pregnant with Asa. I smiled and thought about those sweet goodies I used to stock pile in my bag at school. Before I got big enough that I had to stay home with a fake illness, there were often more treats then books in my bag.
"What are you thinking about?" Jake asked, suddenly standing beside me.
"The vending machines at school," I said, looking up.
He smiled and offered me his hand. "Let's go, we're all gassed up."
"I'm all gassed up, too," Xandra said with an evil grin.
"No farting in the car!" Asa hissed at her. "That's the rules!"
"Gross," Anthony muttered. "I think you need to change your diet. Something is wrong with you."
"Mom!" Mollie called, running into the room ahead of Seth. "Seth let me fill up your car!"
"Cool. As long as he doesn't let you drive it," I said. If she asked, he probably would.
The twinnies rode with Seth the rest of the way, it made things a little quieter. Not just because there were two less kids, but because it was those two and Swan who had the tendency to squabble the most.
When we finally pulled up to the house, the first thing I noticed was the familiar car with the faded blue paint in my driveway. There were lights on in the house, and I could hear the television on. I broke out into a grin.
"Oh, my God," Jacob moaned. "She'd better not make a habit of this. I had enough of that crap from Alice."
As he muttered to himself about my aunt's many unannounced visits, I giggled and jumped out of the car, and ran inside. I didn't even look around as I followed the sound of the television. The walls and floors and curtains were not the important things here, it was who was sitting in the arm chair, her legs casually slung over the arm of it, her trademark sneakers hanging over the side. I had three houses, but only one Rachel.
"What's up!" she shrieked, throwing her hands up in the air, the remote control sailing out of her hand and landing with a thud on the floor. She jumped up to hug me and said, "Welcome home!"Ah, home.
"Aunt Rachel, what are you doing in our house?" Asa cried with excitement, running to her.
"Good question," Jacob said, coming through our door with the first of our bags. He acts like she annoys him, but I know he's full of it, he adores his big sister.
Rachel picked up Asa with a grunt, and obviously changed her mind pretty quickly about carrying him around. "You are solid, kiddo!" she said, setting him back down.
She went to Jacob and grabbed his face, pulling him down to her level to kiss his forehead. "Welcome home, sweetie."
"Why thank you. So, I'm guessing we have plans tonight that I don't know about?" he said.
"Let me fill you in!" she said gleefully, grinning up at him.
"Can I put my bag down first?" he said, walking into the kitchen.
She ignored his request, and followed him out of the room. "We are coming over for pizza tonight, and we're going to help you guys get unpacked and all settled, and the kids can hang out."
"Fine by me. I wanna get the hot tub going."
That was one of the few big things we brought, the biggest actually, just because it had been a gift from Jake. We could have gotten another one, but I wanted that one.
"Can we be allowed in the hot tub now?" Xandra asked me. "Since we are at a new house?"
"Nope!" Jake called, then closed the front door behind him.
"Lame," Swan muttered.
Rachel was smirking, but held on to her comment until we were alone in the room. "So they've got no idea of the terrible things that go on in that hot tub?"
Making sure to keep my voice low I said, "You mean the amazing things?"
She let out a loud burst of laughter. "Gross!"
"Hey, you brought it up!"
She sighed. "I did walk into that one."
"What's gross?" Swan asked, winding herself around Rachel.
"You're parents," Rachel said.
"Rachel!" I hissed, trying not to laugh.
"I knew that," Swan said. "Is Caroline at your house?"
"Yup."
"Can you go get her?"
"Uncle Paul is going to bring everybody over soon, babe. If you want, you can call him to let him know that you guys are here," Rachel said.
Swan helped herself to my phone, pulling it out of my jeans pocket. "Sure, you can use my phone," I said as she walked away.
"Thanks, Mom!"
Anthony came and gave me the pet update. The wolves were out and about, they seemed to be doing fine, just excited to be out of that trailer. The fish were in the tank and "the acclimation process" had begun.
"Shit," I heard Jake mutter from outside.
"What's the matter?" I called, walking toward the sliding glass door in the center of the house, that looked out to the backyard.
"We don't have a hose. Not in this state, anyway," he said.
"That's okay. I'll put it on the list," I said, tapping my head. "Maybe we'll go get stuff tomorrow."
"Hey, come out here," he said. I opened the door and then strode towards him as he was straightening out the hot tub.
"How do you think it looks right here?" He asked. I nearly blushed just looking at the thing. Then I definitely did when he sat in it, and looked up at the windows, trying to see how visible the hot tub would be from inside.
"Yeah. It's fine," I said as he hopped out. He unexpectedly thew his arms around me, and sighed happily.
"Glad to be home?" he murmured.
"Yeah, I am."
"Good. I just want you to be happy."
"I am. Very," I assured him, lifting my head from his chest to look up at him.
"That's the most important thing to me," he said.
"I want the same for you. I guess I don't even need to ask if you're happy to be here," I said with a grin.
He returned it and said, "I can't decide if I wanna kiss you, or the ground."
"Me!" I said quickly. "Kiss me."
With a smile he bent to kiss me, harder then I'd expected. The past couple of weeks we'd spent the vast majority of our time with my family. I'd missed Jake though, and I could plainly see he'd missed me too. I could feel it in the way his tongue was moving against mine. He knotted his fingers in the hair at the nape of my neck, and angled my head to kiss me even deeper.
I held back a moan as I opened my mouth wider.
I just wanted to jump on him and wrap my legs around his waist.
Our kiss was suddenly broken, he was torn from me with a shout. "Hey!" he cried out. When I opened my eyes, Embry was on top of him.
"We brought beer!" Quil called from the edge of the yard with Claire by his side.
Embry's and Jake's fists started flying everywhere. "You two are gonna start calling first! I'm trying to make out with my hot wife!" Jake hollered. I covered my mouth and laughed, slightly embarrassed at the impressive volume he'd just gotten his voice to. Jake was on top of Embry now, punching him in his kidneys.
"Ow!" Embry cried as he struggled.
"You only wish you had a wife as hot as mine!"
Embry, not strong enough to fight Jake off in human form, phased. Jake followed immediately. Quil dropped the case of beer and did the same to join in.
"Did somebody say the magic word?" Rachel said, heading for the beer. She walked past me, not giving the three gigantic, fighting and snarling wolves a second glance.
I can see we are going to be very productive tonight.
I walked inside to see what my short people were doing. Asa was standing at the sliding glass door, his hands pressed against it.
"Momma! They are fighting!"
"I know, baby. They are just playing though."
After Jake "totally kicked their asses," as he put it, they all started barking at the window.
"What do they want?" Asa wondered, following me into my bedroom.
"I think they want some clothes," I said.
"So they can be human again and not be naked?" he asked.
"Right," I said. He looked around as I tore open a box that had the words Jake's shorts written across the top in my handwriting.
"This is your room now, Momma? Daddy's too?"
"Yup," I said, pulling out three pairs of shorts.
"Don't you want to have your own room, for you own stuff?" he asked.
"Nah, I like to share with Daddy." He followed me as I walked outside to throw Jake, Embry, and Quil some shorts.
"I like to share with you. I share my toys with you," he said.
"Oh my God, why are you so cute Asa?" Rachel called.
He shrugged.
Since it was about dinnertime when Paul got there with our nieces and nephews, we decided to go ahead and order the pizza. Rachel and I went back and forth over who should pay for it. I didn't find her paying to be fair, since my kids eat way more then hers. Jake rolled his eyes, we eventually decided to split it right down the middle.
We got to work while waiting for our food, it was Saturday night so they were busy. We'd have to wait a little while. I delegated, and gave priority to the kids rooms. I didn't mind if Jake or I had to go out and find something of ours in the back of the trailer. I just wanted them to have what they needed for the night.
By the time dinner arrived, all of the boxes of the kids belongings were at least in the house, if not upstairs in their rooms. We didn't all fit at the dining room table, so the guys ate in the kitchen. Rach and I ate in the dining room with all the kids.
"So, how's Quil?" I asked Claire as we ate. She was finally sixteen, and finally able to date. So she and Quil were official now.
She tried to hide her grin at the sound of his name. "Fine," she said, looking down at her pizza, her cheeks turning red.
"Good," I said, but decided not to push it. When Rachel and I were cleaning up after dinner, she whispered to me.
"They are adorable," she said, pointing in their general direction with her eyes. "It looks like it's going really great, they are inseparable."
"Aw, I'm so excited for them. Remember those days?" I said.
"Oh, yes."
When it started to get late, Quil took Claire home. All of our boxes were in the house, so I declared our work finished for the night. Rachel and I put everybody in bed. We took our time tucking them in, making sure they were comfortable in this new place.
The guest room had a bunk bed with room for two kids on each level. On the other side of the room was a bed big enough for two taller people to sleep in. I was so pleased we were getting good use out of that room on our first night here. I knew we'd have lots of guests, and they'd need somewhere to sleep, at least for a little while tonight. Rachel and Paul would take their guys home later.
We all sat outside in the little nook the U shape of the house created and enjoyed some adult beverages. Except Paul, Rachel had designated him the designated driver.
When Quil came back from dropping off Claire, he was teased mercilessly.
"Let's see here," Embry said, pulling out his cell phone and looking at the time. "You left to take her home at what, about 10:00? Claire lives five minutes away, and it's almost 11:00 now."
Jake and Rachel both snickered.
"We must have hit that La Push Bermuda Triangle where time goes all crazy," Quil said.
He shook up the beer I thought he was going to drink, and sprayed it at Embry. I shoved them out into the yard as another fight broke out. At least they stayed human this time. Rachel and I let them play as we caught up.
I thanked her for helping get sheets on all of the kid's beds earlier, that was definitely a key project for the day.
"Hey," I whispered, more beers then I care to admit later. "Wanna know a secret?"
Her face lit up, and she leaned closer. "Of course."
"You can't tell anybody," I slurred.
"No shit, that's why it's a secret!" she slurred back.
"You can't ever tell my kids," I continued. "Not when they are forty years old."
"I won't! Just freaking tell me!"
"Okay, okay. I dunno if you were here for this. Did you see anything interesting going on...like in the construction of the bedrooms?"
She thought about it. "I don't think so."
"Okay. Well, our bedroom is soundproofed," I confessed. "We'll be able to hear the kids, but their senses aren't strong enough for them to be able to hear us. Ever," I said meaningfully.
It took a second for it to sink in. "Oh!" she was lost to a fit of laughter. "That's sick, but awesome."
Jake kicked everybody out around 1:00. Seth stayed in the guest room, for what I was sure would be just the first of many times. We were going to take his stuff over to Emily and Sam's place tomorrow, and help him get settled into their attic.
Rachel, Paul, Jake and I each carried a sleeping Lahote child out to the car. We stood in the driveway and watched them pull away.
My hair was piled on top of my head, out of the way for our busy day. Jake didn't want to waste a second of our first night, apparently. He stood behind me and started to caress the sides of my neck with his big hands. I'd forgotten how much he liked my hair up.
"I miss you," he whispered, his hands sliding down my body to tickle my ribs. "I miss touching you."
"Mmm," I sighed. "I miss you, too."
His fingers danced along the bottom hem of my shirt, and then the waistband of my jeans.
"Let's go test out the sound proofing," he said with a grin that I didn't need to turn around to see.
Jacob
I waited for her in bed, in my boxers as she got ready for sleep in our bathroom.
I wasn't very patient.
She'd left the door open just a crack, I peeked in and saw her washing her face. She'd undressed, a little, and was down to just her bra and jeans. I entered the room, and stood behind her as she kept doing what she was doing. She continued to playfully ignore me as I put my hands on her hips.
As she dried off her face, I unzipped her jeans and pushed them past her hips.
"You all done?" I whispered.
"Yeah," she whispered back.
She was wearing simple, white cotton panties, but I already knew that. I'd watched her get dressed this morning. I loved that she let me watch her dress. That way, I knew exactly what was in store for me underneath her clothes at the end of each day.
I slid my hand down the front of the panties and cupped her, feeling how hot she was there. I loved that she was wet for me already, and I'd hardly even touched her. With my other hand, I unhooked her bra. She shrugged out of it, closed her eyes and leaned back against my chest.
As my eyes took in her body, I let my fingers explore her, stroking, and then parting her. Her knees buckled a little, I wrapped my arm around her waist to support her.
The sight in the mirror of my hand moving underneath the thin fabric was almost unbearably hot. I touched her more firmly, eliciting a moan from her slightly parted lips.
She opened her eyes, and let out a soft whimper as she watched me pleasure her. I pressed myself against her, and let her feel how much I wanted her. Our eyes met in the mirror as she moaned again. I pinched her sensitive bundle of nerves, and she bucked back against me, closing her eyes again. I met her, pushing back and pinning her against the counter.
I meant to ask her if she wanted to go lie in our comfortable bed with me, I really did. It was our first night in our new home. I wanted to go slow with her in our bed and do it right, but we'd gone past that, and I ended up asking her something else instead.
"Do you want me to make you come?" I said in a whisper.
"Please. Oh, Jake," she panted.
She looked too hot for words, leaning over the counter like that. Sometimes I felt like it was a damn shame that our height difference was too great for us to have sex standing up like this. I hastily yanked down her soaked underwear, she kicked it off as I lifted her up to set her on the counter. She pushed my shorts down with her cute little feet. Her hand was gripping me, stroking, almost pulling me, trying to guide me towards her center. I covered her breasts with my hands, and her mouth with my own. She whined and whimpered for me, wrapping her legs around my waist to bring me closer.
"Don't forget, you can really let it out now," I said with a grin as I lined myself up with her slick opening. She smiled back and stuck out her tongue. I captured it between my lips and sucked on it as I pushed into her. She sighed, her sweet breath rushing out and surrounding me.
I used slow, deep strokes, making sure she felt every inch of me. Soon, I reared back and slammed into her, making her cry out loudly. I did it again, needing to hear that sound, needing to make her feel that way over and over. I was rewarded with another passionate shout each time. She clung to me for dear life. I loved the feeling of her short, perfectly manicured nails digging into my biceps.
In the mirror, I watched her legs bouncing as she held them high, bent at the knees, dangling, responding to my every movement.
"Look in the mirror sweetie," I whispered.
I put my hand on the back of her head, stroking her long hair, coaxing her to lean her head back. When she looked at herself, then me in the mirror...
Her leaning over the counter, that had been nothing.
This was hot.
We watched ourselves together, I couldn't keep my eyes off her, or her reflection.
Her cries turned into almost shrieks, urging me on, faster and harder.
She lifted her head to look at me directly, her eyes were hooded with lust. She squeezed them shut, and groaned as her release coated me.
It was my turn then, immediately.
I had been waiting for her, just like I did every time. In every part of our lives together, it was important to me that she came first. In this case, pun sort of intended.
She wrapped herself around the front of my body as I finally carried her to our bed. I set her down in the center of it, and curled up beside her. I kissed her closed eyelids, watching how they gently fluttered at the touch of my lips. She murmured to me, her voice thick with the sleep that was quickly overtaking her.
"I miss my parents already, but it feels so right being here."
"Mmm hmm," I agreed, nuzzling her shoulder, then resting my head on it, sleep coming quickly for me as well. "We should Skype with them in the morning," I added. "Give them a tour of the place, let the kids say hi."
"Yeah, they'd like that."
Her body completely relaxed in my arms, and she drifted away before I could ask her if she'd meant Bella and Edward, or the kids. But the thought was soon gone, and I was dreaming of the beach.
A/N: Yes, I'd say everybody is glad to be back! Including me.
Another random note: readers of parts I and II may have noticed something missing in Anthony's pet update. Mollie and Xandra's frogs have both gone to that great big lily pad in the sky. I didn't mention when Mollie's died, because that may have ended up being a whole chapter of Seth freaking out. Didn't sound like a good time for me, or for you guys lol.
