'Clash clash clash clash'. That was the sound of your feet tapping against the grid lying underneath you. The whole street was filled with these grids, warm steam coming out of them. But the main reason they were there was because of the rain falling in the hurricane season.
You hated them though. You had found them unnecessary because it wouldn't be raining that much during hurricane season and merely a few gutters would do the trick. The thing about them was that they were extremely deep; it felt as if they would break and suck you into their darkest core once you took one step on it.
However you could see the end though, but a fall would surely cause you to break a bone or more.
You shrugged the thought off when you came to your school. The large, white building reaching above all the other buildings in the neighborhood. Today another day of boring school starts. You didn't really mind school; however it wasn't your favorite part of the day.
You only walked towards the entrance, the many students standing outside were talking to each other. Some of them waved at you, others were too busy doing what they were doing. Once inside you walked over to your locker, opened it and grabbed the books needed for the next lesson.
Please, let this day go over quickly...
Once the bell rang for recess you had no idea how quickly you had to move to the cafeteria and find your friends. There they were, sitting on a table talking loudly to each other and stealing each other's food. You couldn't suppress a giggle coming from your throat as you walked over to them.
"Hey, (Y/N)! How's life?" Your best friend, (B/F/N) asked. You only smiled, shrugging a little to show that it wasn't that bad. You sat down next to (F/N) who ate her food as if it was the last time she could ever eat her food.
"Well, since we're all here I have something to tell you guys." Everyone now looked up and stared at (B/F/N), who grinned like a madman. Your ears peaked in excitement, not wanting to miss anything she would tell you now. It wouldn't be bad news would it?
"Remember when I played that silly game online, which you guys constantly were mocking me for? Well, it turns out that you could win a prize and so I have won tickets for all of us for (F/A)." Silence. That was the first thing you heard, until everyone started to cheer and yell in disbelief.
You couldn't believe it yourself either! She had won freaking tickets for a concert of (F/A)!! You've been trying to go there for years, but every time you were either too late or too broke to go. And now she has free tickets for all of your friends? That's awesome!
"When are we going?" (F/N) asked and everyone was once again silent. (B/F/N) only grinned before she grabbed her backpack and opened it.
"We're going next Saturday, so be prepared!" She then got out a little map, with the tickets in it. She handed them out, saying that if everyone kept their own ticket with them, she couldn't be held responsible if she ever lost them. Oh you wouldn't lose it. You would cling to it for your dear life!
"Thank you so much, (B/F/N)!!"
You were studying the ticket closely as you walked back to your home. It was beautiful. It had a creamy yellow color, with a shining line of silver on the edge of it. Of course it wasn't the card which was beautiful; it was the name which stood on it.
You couldn't believe it that she had won those tickets. Finally you were going to meet your favorite artist. You felt so extremely excited.
Suddenly a harsh smash was felt against your chest and head and before you could even realize what was going on you fell backwards, right on your butt. Your hands could stop the impact partially and as you were groaning in pain, you heard someone say a quick:
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" You opened your eyes and saw a lady holding her hand out towards you. You grabbed it, quickly wiping off your own hands on your pants as you checked your body for any bruises.
"I wasn't really paying attention. You alright?" The lady asked and you only nodded, giving a quick smile in order to say that it didn't matter. However it was then you noticed something was missing. Your hands felt too empty.
Oh no, your ticket!
You immediately searched around, before you spotted it. Lying dangerously on the grid. You didn't know how fast you had to move in order to grab the ticket and secure it safely inside your hands. But when you moved over the grid the ticket started to tremble dangerously and then, one more step.
The ticket fell into the gaps of the grid.
You almost screamed out of desperation as your hand reached out for the already falling ticket. You immediately looked down into the grid, seeing the ticket floating casually down and landing high on a ledge. You gave a groan out of frustration as you only stared at the ticket.
This wasn't good, this wasn't good at all! If you didn't get the ticket soon then what would happen? Everyone would go to the concert while you had to stay home, because you freaking lost your ticket. The worst part was that you could see it, but you couldn't reach it.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" The woman said again, walking over to you. She looked down into the grid, seeing the ticket she almost went completely pale.
"I'd love to help you but I have an appointment. How much was it? Then I can refund it?" You now stared from the woman to the ticket. It didn't matter. Even if she gave you enough money the concert would be next Saturday. There was no way any tickets would be available now.
It wasn't really her fault either. You should've put the ticket away when you got the change.
"No, it's okay. I'll figure it out. Thanks anyway." Before you could react however the woman had placed a 50 dollar billet into your hands, before she quickly stormed off. You only stared at the billet before you placed it into your pockets.
It was kind of her but you didn't really feel any joy. You only wanted your ticket back. You sat down on your knees, prying at the grid in order to get it to open. If you could open it maybe you could climb down or something like that.
It was then you saw a figure walking there, all the way down. You stopped with what you were doing but the person had heard you. She looked up and you stared straight into the eyes of one of your classmates. Huh? What in the world was she doing down there?
She looked as shocked as you were before she quickly walked away again, out of your sight. It was (C/M/N). Sure she was a little weird sometimes. She didn't talk much and was always going on about paranormal things but for her to search the sewers like that?
Anyway you quickly forget about the girl and tried again to lift the grid...But it was of no use. It wouldn't even budge. You could cry out of frustration! Damnit why did this have to happen to you? What more could you do now? The ticket couldn't be retrieved.
Maybe searching online for another ticket? Yeah, that was your best and only bet.
Once you had searched the whole web for any ticket you gave up the hope of ever going to that concert. Nothing. Absolutely no ticket was found. Your hands went to your head as you gripped it tightly, trying to get rid of the upcoming headache.
How were you going to fix this? There was no way you weren't going to that concert and above all... Your friends would be super pissed if they found out that you had lost the ticket. Correction, that the ticket is still there but isn't within your reach.
Wait a second...
(C/M/N). She went into the sewers like that. Whatever she was doing there really wasn't any of your business, but she could show you where to go inside and then you can collect your ticket! It wasn't the best plan of course, mostly because (C/M/N) wasn't the kindest person on the planet, but it was all you had.
So tomorrow, you were going to talk.
"Shall we eat outside today? The weather is pretty nice." (B/F/N) asked you, however you shook your head a little, replying instantly with:
"I'm sorry, I can't. I have to get something." You lied. Of course you would. If she would even know that you had lost the ticket she would go on a rampage. She was kind, the best friend you could ever imagine, but she could turn into the devil when angry.
"Uh... Okay that's fine. See you soon then." She only said as you waved at her. She disappeared out of the door and you turned on your heel to walk straight to the cafeteria, where (C/M/N) would sit. She always sat at the same table, with the same people.
(C/M/N) wasn't an outcast or anything. People merely didn't like her. It wasn't because of how she looked or anything, it was because of how she acted. She acted like she was everything, like she was above the rest and chosen by a higher power. Whilst the popular kids merely ignored her, the others found it extremely annoying.
With a heavy heart you walked through the doors of the cafeteria, silently gazing through the big room until you found the table you were looking for. You walked over to them, and before you had reached the table, their conversation had stopped immediately.
"Hey (C/M/N) can I talk to you for a second?" The group looked at you suspiciously but (C/M/N) only raised her eyebrows before getting up and walking out of hearing range with you.
"What is it?" she asked on such tone it made you instantly grow defensive over yourself. You didn't like asking her, but it was the only chance of getting your ticket back. Damn, your ticket.
"I saw you in the sewer yesterday." You decided to start. You didn't really wanted to sound offensive or anything but it was quite hard after she sneered at you like that.
"Uhm, yeah. What about it?" Ugh, why did you have to do this again? Oh yeah, because of the ticket. Keep that in mind. The ticket, the ticket, the ticket to your favorite musician of all time.
"I've lost something and it fell... Into the sewers. I know exactly where it is but don't know how to get in. Since I saw you, I was wondering where the entrance is." You crossed your arms, awaiting her reply. She doesn't need to do anything, only say where she gets into the sewers.
"I'm sorry, but I can't do that. You're not allowed inside." Allowed to be inside a sewer? Was this girl serious? It didn't really sound like a privilege to go and jump around in a freaking sewer. She shouldn't act so high about it. You decided to swap over to plan B. You needed that ticket!
"I'll give you 50 bucks." You saw how her face turned from amusement to confused as she only stared at you. Yes, you were willing to pay her so much for getting that ticket back. Get over it you scum.
"Wow, you're desperate. But no, I cannot do that." She then only turned around, walking away from you and then returning to her friends. You only stood there, gritting your teeth while watching her having fun and laughing. If she wouldn't tell you the way then she was going you show you the way.
"Bye, guys! See you tomorrow!" You yelled at your friends before walking down the road. However when you came to the first house you quickly hid in between some bushes, watching the school from a safe place. It must've looked pretty damn weird but hey, school kids did some pretty weird stuff.
You knew that (C/M/N) was inside the school. You had watched her talking to her friends. You had no idea if she even went to the sewers today, but what she had said still lingered in your mind. 'You are not allowed to go in there'. Whatever was in there, it sounded important.
So important that people weren't allowed inside. She probably was going again today. What else could she do in the sewer? Your ears peaked when you saw her coming out of the building with one friend, talking and not even paying attention to anyone. Good.
You followed them from a distance, constantly trying to keep a low profile. It felt so weird doing things like this. But it was for the concert. You needed to go to the concert. You saw how she waved goodbye to her friend, before continuing her way alone.
Now you had to be careful, because if she spotted you, it would be over. She kept walking and walking, the houses started to get less and less before she came to the edge of the town. There she suddenly stopped, looked around if anyone was there before she descended down on the grass.
Of course! How stupid of you! Here was this tunnel which led to the sewers. It was really big but you had to walk down the grass in order to get to it. Children were playing here most of the time, but never dared to go inside. Your classmate however did.
She continued walking and eventually disappeared into the dark tunnel. You could almost slap yourself for not bringing a flashlight. But because of those grids, the tunnels must be lightened. However there was another problem. How in the world could you find your place to the ticket?
There must be around 50 tunnels underneath here!
Okay maybe take the same route as you take when you're above the ground? Thanks to the grids you can see, maybe you can recognize buildings and know where to walk? You have to at least walk a mile before you get back to the school.
First quest: Find the school. That should be easy. The school is only one straight road from here. You sure you're going to do this? You sure that you could find your way into dark sewers? What if (C/M/N) finds you? Ah, what could she do? Kick you out? Whatever, you needed that ticket!
Gathering all of your courage you took one step inside of the sewer. The darkness immediately engulfing your body as your eyes adjusted to the dark scenery. Straight up, just walk straight. You kept telling yourself not to look down, hoping that whatever was on the floor wouldn't stick to your shoes.
You tried to be as quiet as possible, not wanting to wake up rats or whatever was living in here. The ticket, find the ticket and then get the hell out of here. It indeed was true that those grids gave you some light, and for once you were glad that they were here.
Each step you made felt as if you were sucked deeper into the dark, as if the air got colder. You constantly looked up, trying to catch some rays of sun and feel the light on your skin. You saw feet walking over the grids, but you didn't want anyone to look down.
They might think you're some sort of pervert.
You tried to make any sense of the big buildings you saw through the grid, but once you came to a crossroad and saw mostly feet of teenagers and heard a bell ringing you knew that you were at the crossroad in front of your school. Or at least, you hoped.
What was it now? Your home is that way, isn't it? You didn't know for sure, but there was no other lead. So you followed your feeling and entered that tunnel. You kept walking along the line of the grids, not even daring to go into the tunnels without them.
How far is it again? Where did you exactly lose the ticket? Damn it! You didn't know. You only kept staring up, hoping to see a glimpse of the yellow paper. That is until something glimmering on top of a ledge had caught your eye. When you walked closer you saw.
The ticket.
That was it! You nearly gave a yell of happiness as you saw the ticket. The sun was shining on the silver edge, making it light up. Otherwise you wouldn't have seen it. You decided to mentally cheer, not wanting someone to ruin your precious moment now.
You searched around for anything to climb on, since the ledge was quite high. You had to do with other ledges. You placed your bag on the ground and then wrapped your hands around one pipe. You pulled a little at it, making sure it could hold your weight.
When you decided to was strong enough you pulled yourself up, grabbing another ledge to get higher and then another. You were almost at the ticket. You just hoped no one would look down now. You reached your hand out to grab the yellow paper, giving a small yelp as your fingertips touched the ticket.
You stood on your toes, grabbing the paper and finally securing it tightly into your hands. A sigh of relief escaped your throat. Then suddenly, you heard shifting coming from behind you. Without any hesitation you turned your head to the side, watching something flashing away into a corridor.
Your whole body froze immediately. What was that? Did it see you? Could it be your classmate? It was then you heard a loud scream and out of fright you had misplaced your foot, falling off of the ledge and clashing on the ground roughly.
All of the air seemed to be struck right out of your lungs as you collided with the ground, a small and strangled 'huff' came from your mouth. There you lied, completely unable to move while the whole world spun before your eyes.
Once you could see more clear you tried to move your arms and legs. Luckily you could. You then sat up, your hand reached out for your head. Thank god nothing was broken, but it would surely leave a huge bruise. The pain was even worse.
You stumbled a little, before you stood up. You opened your hand, which was clamped close tightly in order to secure the ticket. It was still there. Good. Otherwise all that would be for nothing. You then turned your head up, watching if someone had seen it all.
No.
It was probably too busy on the road, they couldn't have heard it. But... That scream... You slowly turned around, looking at the place where that 'thing' had disappeared into. What was it? You're not going to find out. Your attention then went to something lying on the ground. It was the size of 1,5 liter bottle of water, but it was different.
You slowly walked closer towards the things, the anxiety taking over as you could see better and better what it was. Once you saw clearly you immediately covered your mouth, hoping that it was just your imagination, but you knew better.
There was a leg lying there.
"It's you... It's really you!" You froze when you heard that familiar voice... (C/M/N). Oh no. She couldn't have anything to do with this, could she? You slowly walked closer towards the corner, the voice getting louder and louder.
"W-w-who are y-you?" And then there was this voice. Soothing, calm... But... dangerous. It was the first word which came to mind. This guy was dangerous. That stuttering did nothing but good to his image of parlous. It wasn't normal stuttering. It was like ticking.
"I knew I'd meet you. I helped you. I led them in here." Your mouth became dry almost instantly as you had heard what she said. She had led them in here? Who? And what happened to them? Your eyes shifted towards the bloody leg lying there before you peeked around the corner.
Oh this was bad, really bad.
There you saw your classmate standing; a few feet away stood a man. He had goggles covering his eyes while his mouth was covered by a mask. But what had caught your eyes were the hatchets in his hands. This wasn't just some guy; this was definitely a crazy idiot!
"T-t-t-they weren't m-m-y targets. It g-gave me o-o-o-o-only t-trouble." He was twitching constantly, making him seem even more of a dangerous person. Targets? What the hell was he talking about? But above all what in the world are you still doing there? You had to get out of here as soon as possible. However you couldn't move, afraid that each noise would cause in them discovering your presence.
"I can't believe it's you... I'm sorry what happened to your sister, Toby." So Toby was his name, huh? You didn't know how in the world she would know this guy. He certainly didn't know her, so who is he?
"Excuse me?"
You covered your mouth with your hand immediately as the shivers rolled over your spine. That tone... That voice. It suddenly turned from dangerous to extremely dark. No stuttering, no ticking. Only that voice. He seemed to hiss the sentence. She had hit a sensitive string, but you weren't planning on watching what would happen.
"Toby, I didn-" Just as you were about to get the hell out of here, you saw him grabbing his hatchet and digging it deep into one of her legs. A terrifying scream was heard before he pulled at it, ripping the flesh and bone immediately sticking to his hatchet and then falling on the ground.
If you weren't frozen in place, you would puke. Your stomach turned like a vending machine and your blood ran cold. But you were in shock. Your body didn't move, you couldn't move. You could only watch, watch as this man did the same to the other leg. Now only a whimper came out of her mouth.
It was so extremely gruesome to watch and the chills only increased with each second. You didn't want to know what he would do to you. You tried your best to move but your leg only made a step in your imagination. You had to get out of here! This was going to end badly!
DAMNIT MOVE!!!!
You screamed at yourself. You stared, mentally beating your own body to get you to move. You tried to swallow but even that was something your body couldn't do. Then suddenly he pulled the hatched out of her body, before his with goggle covered eyes turned to you.
This was the moment your body finally decided to listen. You nearly flew from your place as you stormed through the tunnels. You had forgotten the way once you had seen those two, but the only thing that had mattered now was getting away from that creep.
Your breathing became heavy and your heart pumped at full speed. Your brain must've produced tons of adrenaline, because no pain from the fall was felt. You knew he was behind you; he had to be behind you. Your footsteps were clashing loudly against the cold, concrete floor. The echo making them even louder.
When you felt a hatched flying right past your head you knew for certain he was behind you. It didn't hit your head, but it was too close. You ducked before nearly crashing into another tunnel. Another hatched flying over your head.
You had no idea you would even be able to evade those things, but you also didn't know you could run this fast. When you were running at full speed you suddenly felt one of your legs giving in after a smack against it. You immediately crashed face first onto the ground, unable to catch yourself from the speed you had.
Once you came to a stop you turned around, only to see a hatched being dug deep into your skin. You couldn't feel anything other than a painful sting, thanks to the adrenaline. The sweat was covering your face and you pushed your body off of the ground.
When you applied any pressure to the leg however, it immediately gave in resulting in you crashing down again. There was no escape. You couldn't walk or run anymore. You turned around, looking at the blood which was gushing out of the wound.
Your hand had wrapped itself slowly around the handle of the hatchet, trying to get it out of your leg but the pain made it impossible. It felt as if it was fused with your bones and flesh. You heard footsteps coming closer. Not running, just walking.
You crawled away, ignoring the pain and trying to get to a corner. But you knew he had already seen you. With your belly pressed against the floor and your leg in a weird position you stared at the killer. The rush and fear completely taking over.
"Please."You whispered softly, turning your head slightly to get a better view of him.
"I-i-t's not p-p-polite to eavesdrop, you k-now?" From the corner of your eye you saw him twitching every time he spoke. The hatchet dangerously swinging around as he did so. You only crawled further away from him, hoping to somehow escape.
But you knew you wouldn't.
Suddenly you felt him pulling at the hatchet in your leg, and you let out a scream as he tore the weapon away from your flesh. A feeling of relief washed over you once the thing was out of your system. However another painful scream escaped your throat once he had dug the hatchet into your other leg, this time pulling it out immediately.
"W-w-we wouldn't want you t-t-t-to run away now." Your breathing became heavy for a whole other reason and even though the second wound wasn't as deep as the other, you knew you were losing quite some blood. With the last determination to get out of here you had, you started to crawl away from him.
Even moving over the ground without using your legs was too painful, but you didn't want it to end like this! Suddenly you felt a pressure on your leg and you hissed out of pain, whimpering a few desperate: 'stops' which you knew were of no meaning towards the killer.
"Trying to g-g-et away. That's c-c-cute." It was then you felt two hands wrap themselves around your nearly numb feet, before you were pulled backwards. The pain was excruciating, but you knew what was going to happen would be even worse. You felt someone towering over you, but he only stood there.
"Y-y-you're beautiful." You had no idea what he meant by that. Were you beautiful because you were attractive or were you beautiful because you were covered in your own blood and some sort of goo.
You waited for his hatchet to dig itself deep into your back, break your backbone and then your ribcage. However it never came. Instead you felt two hands gripping your jacket tightly, before a loud and ripping sound was heard. You felt yourself being lifted up, but you couldn't use your legs.
"T-t-too pretty to p-p-pass up." What?! When your jacket was removed you harshly fell on the ground again, not even able to catch yourself with your hands. He didn't give you any time to adjust because you felt two hands doing the same to your shirt. It was now you were realizing where this was going.
"S-stop!" You yelled at him, but he only hissed:
"Quiet." Before his gloved hands came to strap of your bra. You stared at the ground with wide eyes as he had unclipped it quite quickly. His hand moved over your back towards your pants. You tried to struggle this time, but it was of no use. Every move caused an extreme pain to flow through your body.
You only hoped this guy had the decency to make it quick, but you didn't count on it. You felt your head getting fuzzy and the liquid was still flowing past your legs. You knew that you were losing too much blood. You were going to pass out soon.
You felt him pulling your pants down to your knees. One of his hands stroke from your back down towards your bum but you didn't really feel it anymore. You only felt your body getting weaker and weaker as the life slowly flowed out of you. This was it.
His hands roamed over your body as you felt him shifting closer. Through his mask, you could feel his breath roaming over the skin of your back, as if he was sniffing your scent. His hands still placed on your rear as he hummed lowly.
He was still busy harassing you, but you could only open your mouth a little, pleading one last time:
"Please, don't kill me." You knew this was futile; you would die soon from the blood loss. But you wanted him to do it. You wanted it to be quick; you wanted it to be over. You didn't want him doing what he was doing. Instead of the silence you expected, he chuckled a dark long chuckle before speaking:
"D-d-d-don't worry, you aren't my t-t-t-target." His words flew past you as you slowly descended into a deep slumber.
~~~~~~
"Can I get you anything else?" Your eyes shifted from your hands towards the nurse standing right in front of you. She smiled an honest smile and you couldn't help but to smile back before replying:
"No thank you." She nodded, speaking:
"Call if you need anything." Before she left the room. You then stared out of the window, watching the full moon shining upon the white sheets. It had been several days since you've been found. A man working in the sewers had found you, half naked, battered and passed out on the floor near the entrance of the sewers.
He immediately took you to the hospital, and the police searched the sewers only to come across a mass grave. Your classmate, (C/M/N) didn't make it. How you still could've been alive was a mystery. Both your fibulas and your tibia in one leg were broken, whilst you had a sever concussion. The two wounds on your legs were healing perfectly.
Also you had been checked whether you were... Sexually abused. By even thinking of it you could cry. Thank the lord the test was negative. After you had passed out he'd probably stopped. The fun was gone, you thought. When you had told your friends what had happened they almost smacked you over the head because of it.
And you even lost the ticket.
Oh well, it was already a miracle to be alive. More you couldn't ask. The door then opened, revealing a nurse carrying a few letters with her. She gave them to you before closing the door and returning to her other work. You opened them. Most being cards to wish you well.
Then suddenly there was this one card with no return address on it. You opened it and you saw something which made your blood run cold. In the envelope, next to a white piece of paper... Was the ticket of the concert.
Correction, your ticket.
"Have fun at the concert. Enjoy your time with your friends; it might be your last." You didn't know how fast you had to grab the small, plastic bucket the nurse had left for you in order to release the contents of your stomach.
