Catti-brie was the first to wake, before the sun had started to peek over the horizon, startled at first by the feeling of another person against her, until she opened her eyes and the memories of the previous night returned to her. Smiling, she closed her eyes again, listening to the soft beating of her drow’s heart beneath her ear, and enjoyed the feeling of his arms around her body.
She caught the first signs of his awakening - a light increasing of his pulse and a slight stirring through his body. Suddenly, he stiffened, though his heart began to pound faster, and curious, she looked up, catching his lavender eyes that held a look as if Mielikki herself just had arrived in front of him.
“What?” she drowsily asked, as if it was a morning like all others.
“I *did* capture a dream last night,” he replied, and a soft smile spread over his lips.
“Ye’re not the only one ta think that,” she said, returning his grin, lightly kissed him on the lips, and then burrowed her face into his hair, breathing in his scent.
A low growl from Guenhwyvar suddenly reminded them that the panther had kept watch over them the whole night, and while Catti-brie apologized to the exhausted cat, Drizzt quickly searched through the now rumbled blankets to find the figurine. They watched together as Guenhwyvar paced around the statuette and dissolved into black mist.
“We outta get dressed too,” Catti-brie suddenly commented when the panther had disappeared, and reached for her gown.
“Should we tell Bruenor?” Drizzt asked, likewise picking up his clothes.
The woman paused, playing with the laces of her nightgown, and looked at the drow, both trying to read the other’s expression.
“‘Tis properly best that we take t’slow...,” she then said. “‘Sides, I don’t think he’ll get as mad if he discovers fer himself, than if we tell him...”
The black elf nodded slowly, then walked over to her and sneaked an arm around her waist.
“See the sunrise with me?” he asked, flashing her an innocent grin.
“Ye’re a big baby, Drizzt Do’Urden,” she replied teasingly, giving his lips a brief kiss. “But alright, then.”

“Where’ve ye been?!?!?”
Unfortunately, Bruenor was the first person they encountered upon re-entering the dwarven mines. The dwarven king stood in the middle of the hallway, hands on his hips, with an expression as if he was preparing to bite off their heads, and took in the sight of the two youngsters - still dressed in their sleeping-outfit and still with pieces of grass in their hair, both holding a load of blankets and pillows.
“Where’ve ye been?!?!?” he repeated.
“Sleepin’ outside,” Catti-brie replied casually, as if it was an everyday occurrence. “‘Tis warm enough fer it.”
“Ye could’ve been attacked!” the dwarf exclaimed.
“Guenhwyvar protected us,” the human retorted. “‘Sides, Drizzt’s with me. An’ nothin’ goes close ta the mine anyway!”
“She’s got a point, you know..,” Regis’ voice sounded from behind Bruenor, though the halfling stayed out of the dwarf’s reach.
“Nothing happened,” Drizzt said. “And Guenhwyvar kept watch over us the whole night - I doubt that she wouldn’t be able to hold off any attackers long enough for us to awaken.”
The dwarf huffed and puffed again, but obviously was unable to find a sufficient argument, and ended with stomping down the corridor, growling something about a passage needing fixing.
Catti-brie grinned at Drizzt.
“He worries too much fer both o’ us,” she .
“.
“He cares much for both of you,” Regis replied, and added with a smirk: “You’ve put on your gown inside-out, by the way, Catti. And you’d better wash it before Bruenor discovers that it has grass-stains both on the inside and the outside...”
The halfling quickly disappeared down the hallway with a giggle, leaving a furiously blushing drow and human behind.
“That little rat sees too much!” Catti-brie exclaimed, grabbed Drizzt’s hand and quickly pulled him after her down the passages towards their rooms. “We outta tie him up an’ leave him somewhere safe!”
The dark elf merely grinned, though he, for a split second, pondered the usages a rope could have otherwise. He quickly dropped the fantasy, though, more than a little surprised and frightened over his own imagination. On the other hand.. One of his dreams *had* come true last night... Drizzt shook his head, snapping out of his line of thoughts before his body discovered what pictures his mind was conjuring at the moment.
They shared a deep kiss, though they both found it lasting all too short, in front of Catti-brie’s door, before they parted and went to their separate chambers to dress.

The breakfast passed without any troubles, though both youngsters found it increasingly difficult to look at each other without smiling - something that did not pass unnoticed by Regis. The halfling, however, had a quite good idea of what had happened between his two friends, and had his own trouble hiding a broad grin whenever he caught the eye of either Drizzt or Catti-brie. They deserved each other, he decided for himself.
