Chapter 26 ~ Values

I parked the Thunderbird one block away from the Masquerade, the new vampire nightclub inwhich humans and vamps coincided for nightly entertainment. I've read alot of good reviews from the local newspapers, but something about vampires dancing around with humans just doesn't seem right to me. Though some people would just as quickly say that I'm prejudiced against them, I'm not dammit. My best friend and uncle happen to be vampires. So there.

I left the Teknys in the trunk, but had my silver cross around my neck and the HP 35 holstered. I felt safe, well safe enough when your going into a nightclub thats infested with suckheads, I mean vampires. I'm trying ok?.

I slowly made my way towards the Masquerade, I saw a rather long line that curbed around the building. The night air was comforting, to bad I couldn't stay out here for the rest of the night. I had a feeling that Bianca was going to take me inside, to go into a place like that without my gun drawn really didn't seem to go well with me. Then again I've had alot of bad experiances with vampires, I just couldn't wait until they saw 'The Slayer' among them. I bet that would go over well.

I saw Bianca standing under a lamp post, she was dressed in a black almost skin tight top that had lace for sleeves which ended at her wrists, a matching black skirt which hugged her hips and to finish it off a pair of boots. Bianca's arms were folded under her chest as she looked up, a smile spread across her face as I made my way closer, there weren't any signs of fang showing. Bianca was getting good at smiling like that. I took a few glances to my side and some of the people in line were looking at me, to me some of them seemed to be in a foul mood. I tried to ignore there gaze as I stood infront of Bianca.

"I see that you recieved my note."

"Yeah I did, though how did you get it in there?" I really did want to know.

An intoxicating laugh escaped her lips, which made me want to take her away from this place and back to my apartment. This was going to be a very long night.

"Well I have my ways... anyway lets go inside. I'm sure your getting cold."

I raised my eyebrow and looked at the reflective doors of the Masquerade, the whole enclave had a tint of green to it because of the neon Masquerade sign which hung over head. I looked back at Bianca and hoped the small gulp of air I took in wasn't noticed.

"I like it out here..." My voice trailing off as I scratched the back of my head. I watched the two rather large and muscular bouncers let a few people go past them as they entered the club, I saw a glimpse of flashing lights and heard some music before they were hidden again by the reflective sound proof doors.

"Oh come on... you'll like it and Lilith wants to meet you."

Great, I'm going into a nightclub full of vampires and the master of the city wants to meet me. At least I'm doing one thing right, I didn't say suckheads. Oops.
Before I knew it, Bianca had me by the arm and was dragging me past the two bouncers. Which looked like professional wrestlers that could benchpress a truck, then again all vampires even the newly risen could bench a truck. A few of the people in the line shot me a disgruntled look, well aren't we all feeling the love tonight?

I was stopped at the lobby which probably lead to the inner parts of the Masquerade. The lobby itself was room clad all in black and the floor had some sort of reflective material which only shone the black lights above us, gave it that nice creepy feeling. A woman most likely a human, dressed in a skimpy red stringed top, black skirt and boots with the black socks pulled over stood infront of me.

"Excuse me sir, could you please remove all holy items and any sort of weaponry before you enter."

It was more of a command then a question. I openned my mouth to say something but Bianca stopped me.

"Jacob, you need to do it before we go any further. This is a neutral zone."

Neutral zone my ass, I sighed and took out my silver cross. I glew dully in the presence of so many vampires. I took a glance over at Bianca and she had turned her head away, only the woman before me stood unchanged, definetly human. She had a brown bag open as I placed the cross in, I suddenly felt very vulnerable as I did that. I unholstered my HP 35 and put on the safety, I placed that in the brown bag as well. The woman smiled and handed me a slip of paper, a poor trade off in my mind.

"Ok Jacob, lets go inside"

I watched as they treated my silver cross and Browning HP 35 like chinese take out, stapling the top shut as Bianca pulled me towards the doors. Something told me that I wouldn't like what I would see on the other side, or maybe I'm just a wee bit paranoid.
