The next morning Jacob spoke to his dad and brought up the subject of marrying Liam. He hoped that if anyone would understand it would be Billy. Unfortunately his father didn’t understand, and outright refused his permission. “Have you lost your mind?” Billy growled.
“This is so stupid!” Jacob protested. “I know what he is, but after everything that happened…I thought we were making progress.”
Billy took a deep breath to regain composure. “Progress, yes, but Rome wasn’t built in a day. We may not be mortal enemies with that particular clan any more, but that man is still an undead blood sucker. I don’t mind being friendly, but what you’re asking… no.”
Jacob huffed and crossed his arms. Now he understood why he’d got Liam to accept his proposal so easily: Liam knew it wasn’t likely to become reality. But Jacob wasn’t quite ready to give up. He approached all of the elders, getting a similar response from each one. By the time he managed to corner Quil Atera, he didn’t even have to ask the question. Before he could even open his mouth to argue, Quil Senior said pretty much the same things Billy had.
The sun was setting when a defeated Jacob wandered down to the beach. Liam joined him a few minutes later and went to greet him with a kiss, but the young werewolf turned away. “What’s wrong?” Liam asked, concerned.
“You knew no one would ever agree to it,” Jacob mumbled. “I don’t know why I even bothered trying. You can celebrate dodging a bullet now.”
“Oh, Jake,” Liam sighed and trailed feather-light kisses up his mate’s shoulder to the base of his neck. “You tried because that’s the kind of person you are. I thought it was a very sweet gesture. But honestly, why do you need a piece of paper?”
Jacob turned to look at the blond vampire. “Bella and Edward thought a piece of paper was important.”
Liam couldn’t help but let out a little chuckle. “Edward was the one who wanted that piece of paper so badly. That’s who he is. If you remember, he had to pretty much bribe Bella to get her to agree to it. But that’s not who I am. I’m not moralistic, I’m a heathen.”
Jacob cracked a smile in spite of himself. “I guess that’s true. You definitely make love like a heathen, and I can’t say I have any complaints.”
“That’s the spirit!” Liam grinned. Then he nudged Jacob. “You know what—everyone is going hunting, so we’d have the house to ourselves tonight. What do you say we light a few candles and go at it like wild animals?”
“I say I could use it after the day I’ve had. But don’t you need to go hunting?”
Liam shook his head. “No, I went this morning after you left. I wanted to spend the evening with you. Come on, no time like the present to start having a little fun. I wanna ride you.”
Jacob shook his head and started disrobing, handing his clothes to Liam who folded everything neatly before stuffing it into a cloth bag. “You enjoy this way too much,” Jacob commented, but the next moment he was transforming into a red wolf.
“It’s impossible to enjoy anything too much,” Liam responded as he mounted Jacob and held on tight. As soon as he was settled, Jacob took off. Their surroundings flew by in a blur; Liam still couldn’t get over how fast the wolves were. He was beginning to understand why Bella liked it when Edward carried her on his back. It was different than running, kind of like he really was flying. Not to mention the hot, furry flesh flexing under him was a major turn-on….
They reached the empty Cullen house in a few minutes. When Jacob came to a stop by the front porch, Liam slid to the ground. Jacob turned back into human form and held out his hand. “I need my clothes back now.”
Liam’s gaze traveled up and down his mate’s naked form and he hungrily licked his lips. “Really? You’ll just have to take them all off again later. This saves time.”
Jacob glared at him. “At least give me my shorts.”
“Fine,” Liam huffed and dug into the cloth bag. He pulled out Jacob’s red satin boxers and tossed them over. “I still like you better without them.”
Jacob laughed and slipped into the boxers. “What I don’t get is how you can be such a nympho without any human hormones.”
Liam shrugged and headed into the empty house. “Some things never change I guess. It’s a part of my personality.”
“Apparently,” Jacob mumbled and took a seat on the leather couch. “Still, it feels too weird to walk around buck-naked all the time. I’ll at least keep my shorts on for now, thank you very much.”
Liam settled beside him. “Did you want to do something, or should we just skip right to the sex?”
Jacob bit his lip. “Actually, I wanted to ask you something. When Bella comes back, will she…?”
Liam knew what Jacob was asking. “That was the plan,” he answered truthfully. “But I’m thinking not.”
“How can you be so sure?”
Liam smiled. “It’s just a hunch I have. I can’t actually see the future like Alice, but I’m pretty sure about this. You know those hormones you mentioned me not having?” Jacob nodded. “Well, Bella has them. So do you. You’re just as much of a nympho as me, it’s just you have to take a break once in a while. I kept telling Edward he shouldn’t wait until after the wedding for that part.”
Jacob frowned. “You mean you actually encouraged him to sleep with Bella? How could you? You of all people know how dangerous it is,” he cried, starting to get a little wound up. “And you know how much I care about her. I can’t believe this!”
Liam reached out to cup Jacob’s cheek to soothe him. “And here I thought you trusted me.”
“I do, it’s just that—”
“Then let me finish. He won’t hurt her, not after he agonized over it all summer. He talked to Carlisle, Jasper, and Emmett, and he even cornered me a few times. He wanted to know what it was like, but it’s so hard to describe.”
“Yeah, I’ve noticed that about him. He analyzes and worries.”
Liam shrugged. “So does Bella. That’s why they belong together. You and me, we’re doers. That’s why we belong together. So quit worrying, and start doing.”
Before Jacob could protest, Liam pulled his mate into a deep, passionate kiss. Jacob forced his tongue into the vampire’s mouth and explored every inch of it. Liam undressed, breaking the kiss only long enough to take his shirt off and fling it across the room.
Jacob lowered himself to the floor, resting on his knees. He took Liam’s cool erection in his hands and brought it to his lips with a predatory grin. Liam hissed and arched his back as his cock ever so slowly sank all the way down to the back of Jacob’s hot, wet throat. Jacob moaned softly and brushed the underside with his tongue as he pulled back. His tongue swirled around the sensitive head a few times and then he took it all in again.
He repeated the action a few more times before letting Liam’s slick cock slip out of his mouth. “I guess you were right about the clothes,” Jacob chucked as he took his boxers off and moved to straddle his mate on the couch. He brought his lips to Liam’s again, letting the vampire taste himself on Jacob’s tongue. Then he lowered his body down, impaling himself with a lustful growl.
He sat there a moment with his ass pressed firmly against Liam’s hips and gazed lovingly into his lover’s eyes. God help him, but he couldn’t get enough of this. Gripping Liam’s shoulders, Jacob started to move. His pace was slow at first until his body adjusted. Then the sounds of warm flesh slapping against hard stone echoed through the open room. Jacob closed his eyes and let his head fall back, relishing the sensation of the cool flesh inside him as it brushed against that wonderful bundle of nerves.
Liam licked up Jacob’s shoulder and sank his teeth into the base of the werewolf’s throat. Jacob’s whole body shuddered as he cried out in pleasure, his blood running in a warm river down his bare chest. Liam started lapping up the blood and reached to grip his mate’s hips to pull him into an even faster pace.
The sounds of their pleasure echoed through the open space for several minutes. Then Jacob cried out, grinding his ass against Liam as hard as he could while spurts of white liquid spilled onto Liam’s cold, pale chest. Liam’s eyes rolled back and he dug his nails into Jacob’s side and let out a deafening roar.
Exhausted, Jacob took in a deep breath and rolled over to curl up beside Liam on the couch. His chest heaved as he tried to catch his breath. He glanced over at Liam, who had his eyes closed and a wicked grin on his face. “How long until you’re going to want to go again?” Jacob asked.
“I’ll give you about fifteen minutes to recover,” Liam answered. “Your heart should be settled back in your chest by then.”
Liam was lounging on the couch when Emmett and Jasper came through the door several hours later, the rest of the family right behind them. They stopped and wrinkled their noses. “Oh, god…” Emmett groaned, looking like he was about to be sick.
Carlisle took one whiff and glared at his brother. “Did you have to desecrate the entire house? Never mind.” He shook his head and moved to open a few windows. “Stupid question.”
“For a moment I thought maybe you’d forgotten who you were talking to,” Liam laughed. “And we did clean up after ourselves and fix anything that got broken. Superglue really is good stuff.” Now it was Esme’s turn to glare at him. “What? I said we fixed it. Just be careful with the couch in your room; the glue hasn’t dried yet.”
“Liam!” Carlisle shouted. “I told you not to go into my room, or anyone else’s for that matter.”
Liam shrugged. “It was the right height for something we wanted to try.”
“Silly me…” Carlisle mumbled. “We’ll just have to air out the whole house. Did you do anything besides screw each other’s brains out?”
Liam nodded. “Of course. We had to take breaks every so often so he could eat and sleep. Oh, and this morning after breakfast we watched the first two Harry Potter movies.”
Before Carlisle could comment, Alice’s phone rang. She answered it and instantly looked worried. “Carlisle, Bella needs to talk to you.”
They all went quiet, afraid something had gone terribly wrong. But Carlisle was asking Bella about menstrual cycles and symptoms. Liam tilted his head as he listened. It sounded more like she thought she was pregnant.
Carlisle exchanged a few words with Edward before hanging up the phone. “I don’t know why I didn’t think about this before and warn them,” he mumbled.
“About what?” Liam asked. “Is Bella actually pregnant? It’s really possible?”
Carlisle nodded. “I’ve heard about a few rare cases. Vampire men don’t generally lie with human women, and even then the odds are slim. This isn’t good.”
“Why not?”
“For one thing, a fetus that’s half vampire tends to grow a little faster than normal, from what I understand. It could kill her.”
“Oh.” Liam nodded in understanding. “It’s a good thing I’m not interested in women. But before anyone does anything rash, you should probably sit down and have a talk with Bella. Somehow I don’t think she’ll take it well if you and Edward go and start making decisions for her.”
“You’re probably right,” Carlisle agreed. “I just need to go refresh my memory on the subject. They’re coming right home and should be here by tomorrow night.”
Just as Carlisle headed up to his den, Liam’s phone rang. It was Bella. “Hello?” he answered.
“Liam, I need your help….”
