Day Three (NC-17) Lex was still asleep on the sofa. The blanket had managed to tangle with his long legs, allowing Chloe a perfect view of his expertly sculpted chest. The sight of him brought back memories from last night. She had complained about not having anything to sleep in at night. Lex didn't bother saying anything, he instead started taking off his crimson shirt. Chloe remembered protesting until he’d handed the shirt to her and told her to sleep in it.
Chloe still had the shirt on. She remembered being able to smell Lex's cologne as she first put it on. The scent of the cologne stayed with her through the entire night. Needless to say, she didn't get much sleep last night. She caught herself, unconsciously, raising the collar of the shirt to her nose to try to sniff the small traces of Lex's scent. God, she really was pathetic.
Chloe, deciding to get back to the task at hand, moved closer to Lex. She tried to move as slow and quiet as possible in hopes that she wouldn't wake Lex. If she did than the plan would be completely ruined. She was hovered over him now, leaning so close to him all she would have to do to lick him was stick her tongue out. The idea did excite her, she had to admit, but she had a mission to take care of. Lex slightly shifted underneath her. She could see the note from last night sticking out of the side pocket of his pants.
Chloe tried to steady her breathing as much as she could. She tried to prevent herself from touching his bare chest, despite how tempting the thought was, as she inched her fingers closer and closer to the note. Her fingers briefly touched the note before a hard grip grabbed her hand.
Before Chloe could even think of escaping, Lex had flipped their bodies over. Chloe's back was now against the seating of the sofa. She, herself, was looking into the eyes of a very tired, and sexy, Lex Luthor. "Why am I not surprised?" His voice had come out thick and slightly hoarse sounding. Chloe was surprised when she could feel his grip loosen, only to roam further instead. She felt the electrifying shivers that were created from Lex's curious fingers.
She looked into his eyes. They were halfway closed, halfway open, as though they were sex induced. "Lex," she whispered his name. It was meant to come off as a question, but she didn't know if he would see it as such. Truthfully, she didn't know if she wanted him to regard it as so.
"This shirt looks nice on you. Do you like it? Does it feel comfortable?" He traced his fingers across her sides as he looked directly at her, waiting for an answer.
Chloe realized at that moment that Lex knew exactly what he was doing, she just didn't understand why.
"Yes," she meant for her voice to sound calm and controlled, instead it sounded far too breathy for her liking.
"Yes, to what?" Lex's voice now held a hint of teasing to it.
"Yes, to all of it." Lex slid his fingers further down, tracing erotic lines across her upper thigh. She was glad that Lex knew what he was doing, because she sure as hell didn't know. Chloe gave out an almost silent moan; it was so quiet, as Lex touched the skin underneath the shirt with his warm hands. She felt herself blush at the fact that she was sans underwear and that she was pressed against one of Lex's thighs.
Chloe couldn't help but wonder why Lex was doing what he was doing, touching her like a lover, especially now. The curiosity lead her cynical mind to think that he was just using the opportunity to have a one-night stand. Or in this case, a one-morning stand. She didn't care how badly she wanted this, wanted him, she refused to be just another fuck to him.
"Stop, Lex." She hesitated as he looked at her, with his hand still pressed firmly against her bare stomach. It was going to be a lot harder than she had thought. "I'm not going to be another one of your conquests, another fuck. I deserve better than that, despite what you may think." Chloe managed to keep her voice steady and final. She'd just made herself proud, sort of.
Lex blinked back her words with his eyes as though he didn't understand what she had just said. She knew full well that he understood perfectly. He quickly withdrew his hand and body from hers. Lex looked away from her while letting out a loud, suppressed sigh and shook his head. "What do you want from me, Chloe?"
She wanted him to want her as much as she wanted him. She wanted him to love her back, damnit. "I should ask you the same thing, Lex." One thing Chloe knew was how to avoid answering a question that she didn't want to answer.
"It isn't that far from what you want." He looked back at her, his face completely masked. Chloe could tell that he wanted to say something else, but he was keeping it bottled up. She watched as he tried to maintain his mask, keep it in place, he was struggling more so than usual. He usually didn’t have to try, it just came naturally.
There was a sudden knock at the door, "House keeping."
Chloe looked at Lex for confirmation, all he did was shrug. She rolled her eyes and went to open the door. As soon as she had it open, she immediately wished she hadn't.
"Hello." Anita had the ugliest smile that Chloe had ever seen planted right on her face. "I need to speak to your boyfriend."
"What do you want?" Chloe all of sudden felt better knowing that Lex was now standing beside her. He had moved so quickly it startled her. She was amazed at how he was able to look business-like despite his lack of a shirt.
Anita stepped to the side, allowing them view of the blonde stripper from the night before. Chloe took the opportunity to move behind Lex. She didn't care if the action seemed cowardly or not. She didn't want the man's groin rubbing against her thigh again.
"We must have come at a bad time," she laughed.
"No, I can't smell them. They haven't done anything yet, but they were about to, the smell of lust is so strong," the stripper smiled at both her and Lex. Now she really wanted to smack him.
"State why you are here." Lex was trying extra hard not to yell, to remain as polite and cordial as possible.
"You know why I am here, Luthor. I'm warning you only once that I am the state's licensed vampire hunter. If I ever see your turned ass, I will kill you."
Lex let out a loud, powerful laugh. It caused Anita to step back, and Chloe let out a smile.
"You have to have an order for my death first, Blake."
Chloe looked back and forth from Lex to Anita than to Lex. What the hell was going on? Anita, deciding to be a little braver, took one step forward. "If I see that you are changed than I will kill you." She than took the moment to address Chloe before she walked off, “Stay away from Asher. Both of you." Then she left.
Lex slammed the door while letting a few curse words slip at the same time. Chloe was amazed that he was actually letting his guard slip in front of her. "Lex, what the hell is going on?"
"I didn't want you in this. Why did you have to follow me here?" He yelled the words at her. She didn't know what to say. That it was just in her nature to go around sticking her nose in other people's business? Yeah, that would go over real well. "I can't take you back to Smallville, now." His words were soft, almost as if it hurt for him to say them.
"What do you mean?" Chloe waited for a reply, instead her question went ignored. "You said so yourself that this thing, whatever the hell it is, somehow involves me. For that reason, I deserve to know what is going on."
"The supplement for immortality. When we spoke in French we were discussing arrangements." Lex wouldn't even look at her. Chloe thought about reaching out to him, but she quickly thought better of it.
She still didn't understand how this involved her. Maybe it was one of her slow days.
"Why do you want to be a vampire? Don't you like food?" It was a poor attempt for humor, but any laugh, or smile for that matter, was better than none at all. Lex apparently didn't think so.
"There are people after us. They were in the restaurant last night. That was what the note said." He was moving across the room now, to her. "I haven't a clue as to what they look like, and that alone is enough to be unnerving."
Chloe unconsciously took a step back. She didn't know what Lex was going to do, and she didn't know if she should be scared or welcoming. "Asher warned you. But, why?"
"I don't know." Lex grabbed her arms in both his hands, "I cannot promise your safety, Chloe. Do you understand this?"
Of course she understood, she had been in a similar situation like this before. The last time Lex had protected her she had almost died. The only difference was that he guaranteed her safety then. "Why do you have people after you?"
"They're vampires. Apparently, I managed to disrupt some political issues with this new supplement." His hands never lost hold of her arms, and she was beginning to not mind so much. "I need to speak with Asher tonight. I don't know why he's helping me, despite Jean-Claude's wishes. But, I don't suspect any treachery from him."
"Jean-Claude doesn't want him helping us?"
"He doesn't trust me. Neither does Asher." Lex sighed; he began to relax his body a little against hers. She didn't quite know why, but she began to relax herself against him, mirroring his exact moves. It must have been the familiarity in the situation that caused them both to let their guards slip. "You can't come with me, Chloe."
"What do you mean I can't come with you? I'm apart of this whether you like it or not." She let out a loud sigh to add drama, "Besides, the both of you will end up conversing in French, anyways. You know full well that I won't have a clue to what you'd be saying, which is exactly why you will do it."
Lex smiled at her, "We need to leave this place. I don't like Anita knowing where we sleep, especially since she wants me dead." He smiled at her again, except this one held a hint of teasing to it, which took Chloe by surprise. “You don’t have to change clothes. I won’t mind, but I’m not entirely sure about other people.”
Chloe rolled her eyes and no matter how hard she tried, she simply could not hold back her smile. “I’ll change.” She made a quick start to the bedroom, and then remembered something, “Is it okay if I do some shopping at some point? I’m starting to run out of clothing options here.”
“After we get settled into a new place, I will personally take you to whatever store you wish.” His sexy smile was perfectly in place and Chloe suddenly remembered why it was that she was so in love with him. He was human, no matter what he said, from his charming, business self to his low self-confidence at odd times, he was human. Chloe loved him for that, and no matter what she told herself there was no getting over him. She’d just wished that he had loved her back. Requited love only happened in romance stories, and despite Chloe’s wishes, this was real-life, her real-life and it sucked for lack of a better word. It just sucked.
Chloe had never been so tired in all her life. She'd give anything right now to jump into the new, four-poster bed and fall into blissful slumber. Alas, she and Lex were on their way to meet Asher at some place called the Circus of the Damned. Chloe had asked what kind of place it was and found out that Lex hadn't a clue. That couldn't be a good sign. "You look lovely tonight," Lex said with a seductive smile perfectly in place. He quickly shifted gears before turning on to the next street. His assistant, Glasses Girl, had arranged for one of his cars to be delivered to him at the new penthouse. It was an Aston Martin, which she had never been a big fan of, but once she got a look at Lex sitting behind the wheel, she had quickly changed her mind. The car was a deep, metallic red, which coincidentally matched Chloe's current outfit perfectly. She was wearing the first outfit that Lex had picked for her. The material hugged to Chloe's curves just right and the long skirt created height that just wasn't there. A long split, from ankle to right below the hip, allowed for easier walking. She realized that Lex must secretly like the color red since he made sure that all of her clothing was of that color. She debated whether or not she should return the compliment. Lex certainly looked handsome tonight. He wore a black sweater; he'd pulled the sleeves up his arms allowing view of his pale, well-toned muscles, and paired it with black pants. Chloe wasn't used to seeing Lex in nothing but black, he usually wore a shirt that was often a various shade of purple. Chloe studied his look and she found that she appreciated it. She appreciated it a lot. They had turned into an entrance that looked to be a fairground. Several people were parking on the side of the street while yelling and cursing at others who had previously cut them off. Chloe looked over at Lex and noticed that he looked as confused as she felt. "Mr. Luthor?" Chloe turned to take in the sight of a medium height man running towards them. He had the longest hair she had ever seen. His hair flew back in long, burgundy tendrils as he moved faster and faster to him. She was reminded of the Red Hot Chili Peppers video, only this guy was much younger and delicate looking. As he stood directly beside their car, Chloe was finally able to take in the sight of his eyes. They looked cat-like, with a deep shade of violet that would make anyone jealous. They looked real, but Chloe knew that just wasn't possible. No human could have eyes like that. "Asher sent me to escort you through the Circus. However, I'm afraid there might be a problem." The young man, who now up close looked to be around the same age as Chloe, seemed to be scared of something. Lex jumped out of the car, after rolling the window back up, and gave his keys to a young woman that Violet Eyes motioned to. He helped Chloe out of her side of the car before walking with the young man. Always a gentleman first, she thought. "What is the problem?" Chloe watched as Violet Eyes hesitated to answer Lex's question. A range of emotions passed on his face, from inner struggling to pure fear before he answered. "The Council has sent some members here earlier than the scheduled time. Asher doesn't trust them and he wants to prevent them from seeing you as much as possible." "What is the Council, exactly?" More vampire stuff that she didn't have a clue about. She was surprised to see Lex nod his head as though he perfectly understood the situation. Violet Eyes decided to answer her question, after a considerable amount of hesitation, "They are like the Supreme Court of the vampire population. They are the most powerful of the vampires and right now they are mad." He looked at Lex when he said the last part. "Take us to Asher." Lex's voice was careful and demanding. Despite his usual mask being perfectly in place, Chloe was still able to tell that he was scared. That couldn't be good. Violet Eyes led them through the entrance of the circus. It was an actual circus, with clowns and everything. One of the clowns walked passed them, not before winking at Violet Eyes first. The clown then flashed his fangs at Chloe. She quickly moved closer to Lex. She didn't care if the gesture made her look weak. She didn't like clowns, especially if they had fangs. They were heading to the back of the circus. There were two bouncers at the door; both wore see-through shirts that showed off their muscles that they had probably spent months getting from the gym. Violet Eyes briefly acknowledged them with a nod of his head. Both of them returned the gesture with a deep grunt. Chloe rolled her eyes. When the door was opened, all Chloe could see were miles of stoned walls with antique torches providing the only source of light. There were sets of steep steps leading them further into the dungeon-like place. Chloe was beginning to think that maybe trusting Violet Eyes wasn't such a great idea when they suddenly walked into what looked to be a living room. There were floor-to-ceiling drapes hung across the room's walls. They were a shade of a deep midnight blue, which made an interesting contrast against the stark white fireplace. Chloe's eyes immediately shot up to the painting that was placed on the mantle. Asher was sitting next to a lovely brunette; he had a lovely smile on his face as well as the woman. Jean-Claude stood behind them, he was the only who wasn't smiling. Chloe looked back to Asher, his entire face was visible. It was the first time she saw his entire face and the beauty of him literally took her breath away. Chloe looked at Lex, who was staring at another painting that was hidden from the rest of the room in a dark corner. She moved to get a closer look and then when she saw it in its entirety she immediately wished that she hadn’t. The style of the painting was done in a Romanesque style, there was a nude man holding a large sea anchor in front of him. He was tall and dark, one side of his figure was completely flawless, it was like he was born from a rose he was so beautiful. The other side was the exact opposite. Dark, scarred skin ran down the other side of his body, it almost looked like candle wax it was so distorted. Chloe took her eyes away; she didn’t want to see more. “He was part of a ménage trios, before this happened.” Violet Eyes was looking at Asher’s face in the painting above the mantle, and then he pointed to the painting in the corner. Chloe looked back to see the face, after looking at the body she didn’t bother looking at the man’s face. She didn’t want to see the torment that she knew was there. Asher focused his eyes directly in front of him; it seemed as if he was looking right back at her. The half that she was so used to seeing was beautiful and perfect, then the other half was like the rest of his scars, though she noticed that the ones on his face didn’t look near as bad as the ones on the rest of his body. Chloe looked at his eyes, those husky blue eyes, and she saw nothing but pain and loneliness. Lex put his arm around her. The gesture took her by surprise; she had to look up to see if it really was him who was trying to comfort her, in his own way. His face was blank, but she was able to notice the tight clenching of his jaw. He seemed to be as affected by the painting as she was. Chloe looked back at the painting, for some reason she couldn’t take her eyes off of it. Despite the hideous scars, she could still only see Asher’s beauty; he was still the gorgeous, golden-haired vampire that she had met earlier. He was still the one who had the voice that could touch and tickle her in the most intimate places. “What happened to him,” Lex asked, while still holding Chloe close to him. He didn’t let any emotions through; Chloe knew by that he was hiding behind his cool demeanor more than usual. Violet Eyes hesitated for a moment, “I’ve never heard the story from him, and he absolutely will not talk about it. But, from what I have heard, a group of missionaries found him and his human servant.” He pointed at the female who was sitting next to Asher in the painting. “She was believed to be a witch so they burned her at the stake. They poured holy water on Asher hoping to force the evil out of him. Jean-Claude arrived too late; he was only able to save Asher. Though they are on friendlier terms, now, Asher still somewhat loathes Jean-Claude for not saving the girl.” “It’s such a lovely story, is it not?” Chloe and Lex both turned to look at a small girl. She was extremely pale, not quite as pale as you would expect from a vampire, but still pale all the same. Her curly, dark brown hair was piled on to the top of her head, allowing a few, long ringlets to outline her face. She looked like a miniature Victorian Goth. “Poor, poor, Asher. He still can find no love.” “You’re not supposed to be in here, Valentina.” Violet Eyes moved towards her faster than any human was capable of. Was he a vampire, too? He didn’t seem vampiric. Chloe could have sworn that he was human. “You should be in the banquet hall with the others.” “Stand back, pomme de sang!” Before, her voice sounded soft, like a little girl’s. This time it was deep and roaring. Chloe knew that she didn’t want to mess with this little one. Violet Eyes did as he was told, to Chloe’s surprise. “Run, run to your little master, you submissive.” Violet Eyes did exactly as she said, he ran from the room faster than when he approached the girl. What the hell? “You’re a vampire?” The question came from Lex. He moved in front of Chloe now, trying to block the girl’s way from her. She was actually thankful for the protectiveness for once. “Are you a member of the council?” A loud, harmonious laugh came from the little girl and someone else. Chloe looked around to see the other person, or thing, and saw nothing. All of a sudden, from nowhere, a small, blonde woman emerged directly beside her. She was laughing and flashing her fangs at the same time, probably to scare Chloe, all she did was roll her eyes. Compared to the two bouncers and the clown outside, this girl looked like a helpless Barbie doll. “Valentina is my pomme de sang.” She said the words as though they meant anything to them. Chloe hadn’t a clue of what pomme de whatever was. “And you are?” Chloe’s voice came off as sounding bored, just like she wanted it to. Then when Barbie threw her up against the wall, she immediately wished that she hadn’t of said anything. Barbie leaned over Chloe, all menacing looking; she licked the side of her mouth as though she was getting ready to taste her. Chloe wasn’t interested in being anyone’s food, so she gave a quick kick to Barbie’s leg, then to her stomach as she hit the floor in front of her. “Bitch!” It was the only thing she could think of to say before she felt a heavy blow to the side of her face. “Musette!” It was Asher. Chloe couldn’t see him, she couldn’t see anything right now, but she knew it was him. He was the only one that had that ultra-cool seductive voice, only this time it came out in a roar instead of a seductive caress. “I want my gift, now. I want them.” Chloe didn’t know, but she had a feeling that she was pointing at both her and Lex. Chloe was no one’s gift, especially Psycho Barbie’s. “We do not have your gifts prepared just yet, Musette.” The voice belonged to Jean-Claude. Chloe couldn’t help but think that he sounded like a wimp compared to Asher’s roar. Despite the situation, she wanted to hear Asher some more, especially if he was going to continue in trying to protect her. “We cannot give you them as your gift.” “They do not belong to anyone. Why can I not have them?” She whined the last bit out like a little girl. Chloe managed to roll her eyes, despite the tremendous pain it ended up causing. Damn, she got her good. “They belong to me.” Chloe managed to look up and see Asher. He was blurry looking, but she assumed that he probably looked pissed, because he sure did sound like it. Musette let out an awful laugh and Chloe cringed at the sound. “You cannot fool me. They belong to no one.” “I belong to myself, thank you.” Chloe felt a hand punch her on the other side of the face that wasn’t hurt. She really needed to learn how to keep her mouth shut. Musette kept her hand on her face, Chloe wanted to bite it off if not for the fact that she was slightly squeamish when it came to blood. She could hear both Lex and Asher yelling at Musette, and then she heard a gun shot. Blood splashed on her face as Musette leaned into her. Some one shot her, and Chloe was mighty thankful for it. Except it didn’t do anything to her. “What the hell?” “Get off of her, now.” It was Anita and Chloe had never been so happy to see, or in this case hear, the brunette in all of her life. She heard a quick click of the gun and looked up to Musette and gave her the most evil smile she could manage at the time. Apparently that was something else she shouldn’t have done, because she instantly felt Musette’s tiny hands form around her neck. Chloe could feel Lex move closer to them, she watched as he tried to move Musette’s hands from her. All she did was crush them tighter. Chloe began to panic, she did as most people would do, she started to squirm her body from underneath the heaviness of Musette’s. All it did was cause her to lose what little breath she had left. Musette smiled at her, the smile was even more hideous than the one that Anita had given her earlier that day. Chloe tried to say something, anything, Lex’s name, Asher’s name, anyone’s name. Nothing escaped from her lips; she didn’t have enough air left. Her eyes were becoming blurrier than what they already were. Her throat was itching to be loosened. Darkness was starting to surround everyone, as though someone was walking through out the room, blowing out each of the candles one by one. Chloe didn’t want there to be dark, she wanted the light to come back. She needed to be able to see them, everyone, especially Lex and Asher. If she could see them, than she would be all right. She was sure of it. If only she could see them now.
There was tightness to her throat, not like before. It didn’t feel like Musette, it was far more erotic than that. Chloe couldn’t figure out what it was all she knew was that she wanted to hold on tighter. She wanted to feel the touch, whatever it was, all over her. Her chest was rapidly moving underneath the tightness of the corset, but she couldn’t hear herself breathing. She couldn’t hear anything, not one sound, not even a pen dropping. She knew that something wasn’t right, but her mind quickly wandered back to the pleasure, wherever it was coming from. Nothing was in front of her, beside her, or behind her, she was the only one in existence. There was only darkness and herself. She knew that she had to have been dreaming. This, whatever this place was, wasn’t real. The pressure around her throat quickly shifted from pleasure to immense pain. She wanted the pleasure back, anything as long as she didn’t have to feel what she was currently feeling. Chloe tried to grab for her throat, hoping to stop whatever it was that was now hurting her, choking her. She couldn’t lift her arms, she couldn’t move. It was time to get out of here. “Wake up, Chloe.” She calmly worded the phrase with her lips; no sound came out, though. “Wake up, Chloe!” She tried to yell it, still no sound. The pain was coming in stronger now. She could do this; she could get out of this. “WAKE UP!”
She was greeted by a bright light that was shining right down in her face. Voices came from somewhere in the room, she couldn’t see because she was currently blind for the moment, but she knew that they were male voices. Chloe blinked a couple of times, in hopes of being able to see again, she then squinted. Objects beside her were starting to come in to focus now. There was what looked to be a fireplace a couple of feet from where she was laying. She moved her hands over her body to make sure it was still there, then underneath her. The feel of expensive silk teased her fingertips as she expected her surroundings. Chloe realized that she was laying on someone else’s bed and not her own. She looked in front of her and saw the intricate carvings of a four-poster bed. Chloe then realized that she was back in the new penthouse. Thank, God. “Je ne veux pas la partager . Faire d'elle votre servante humaine n'est pas ce que j'avais à l'esprit.” Chloe recognized Lex’s voice. She’d never been happier to hear it in all her laugh. This meant that she wasn’t dead after all. Wait a second. What the hell was he doing in her room? “Vous n'êtes pas assez fort, mon chauve. Elle serait morte si je n'avais rien fait.” The ultra-cool, seductive voice had to belong to no one but Asher. Chloe started to get excited about the two of them being in her room. The thought was enough to make any woman melt on the spot. Chloe decided to make herself known, before they continued any further, “You two converse in French even when you both think that I’m unconscious.” She smiled, even though she could see them. The bed dipped next to her as someone sat next to her, she couldn’t see who they were, but it didn’t matter anyways. “You’re awake.” It took her a moment to realize that the person was Lex. His voice held far too much concern for it to sound like Lex. She generally felt touched that he was actually worried about her. Chloe positioned herself so she could see him better; at this point all she could see was his head. After she got a better look at him, time literally froze at that moment. He was naked! His skin practically glowed in the bright lighting, a few shadows played across his most private of places. She couldn’t take her eyes off of him, off of all that bare skin. As if he knew what she was thinking, “You were dying. You were growing cold so fast.” Lex looked down, as if talking about it hurt too much. Chloe could feel the tears starting to form around her eyes. Maybe he does care for her after all, if only a little bit. “We had to get you warm.” We? Chloe slowly, hesitantly, took her eyes off of Lex to find Asher. She was rewarded with the glorious sight of lots of pale flesh covering a strong frame of muscles. He was standing in front of the fireplace, half way looking down and half way looking at them. His golden hair was loose behind his back, allowing her full view of that beautiful face. He looked like a god, an angel, he was so beautiful. She held out her hand, clearly motioning for him to come to her. It was a bit odd, she felt like she had done it before, millions of times, when in actuality this was only the first. He approached her, his movement full of seduction. She heard a catch of breath beside her, and she briefly looked at Lex. He was staring at Asher, taking him in like the sex symbol that he was. It was clear that Lex appreciated the naked Asher just as much as she did. Chloe refocused her attention back on the vampire. He was hovering over her now, his bare skin above her was far too tempting for her to handle. She stroked her hand over his scarred side, much like a familiar lover would do. His rough skin felt as though she had touched it many times before. “It has been a long time since someone has looked at me the way you are looking at me right now, ma petite reporter.” Asher smiled at her, and then he looked at Lex. “You as well, mon chauve.” The look that was shared between the two of them was enough to make anyone sexually aware. Chloe wanted them. She wanted them right now. Asher must have come aware of what she was feeling, “Ma cherie?” He reached for her, his fingertips lightly brushed her bare neck. Chloe knew what the question meant so she nodded. She looked to Lex, hoping to God that he was willing. She didn’t know what to do if he wasn’t. It was like a mad force, making her want them, the both of them, as much as she did. She felt like death would come for her if she didn’t get what she wanted, what she needed. Lex looked back at her, his face completely serious; he was silently asking the same question. Chloe nodded once more and directed the same question at him. He didn’t do anything. She could feel herself falling apart, she could feel death coming for her right then and there as Lex continued to stay perfectly still and quiet. Tears were forming around her eyes; the pain of the rejection hurt so much. She then felt sudden movement, a bare leg rubbed against hers. Lex’s body was weighing her further down into the softness of the bed. He held his hand out for Asher as he began to trace erotic trails down her neck. Asher slowly hesitated and then took Lex’s hand. He turned it over and did the same thing Lex was doing to her neck, only to his wrist. The picture was strangely comforting and she didn’t know why. Chloe decided not to dwell on it, so she moved for Asher to snuggle closer to her. He did as she wanted and moved his body, far too gracefully, next to her. All three of them moved their bodies against one another in perfect rhythm, rubbing their private areas against the others. Chloe let out a moan; it was so quiet it was almost silent. Lex’s breath began to come out faster and heavier while Asher buried his face into her hair. She could feel him sniffing her hair as he rubbed one hand against her scalp and the other over Lex’s back. Chloe watched in fascination as Lex’s eyes began to gloss over, like they do during sex, his mouth was slightly open, letting out barely audible moans. Both of the men stopped. No words exchanged, they just stopped. Chloe reached out for both of them, trying desperately for them to continue. Both Lex and Asher moved away from her. Their faces no longer held desire, but something else. She couldn’t tell what it was; she didn’t understand what was wrong with them. Chloe looked down at her body. Blood. Everywhere. Her entire body was covered in blood. She heard an impossibly loud scream, and then realized that it had come from her mouth. She looked back at Asher and Lex, they were moving further away. Chloe held out her hand, mumbling something to them, she couldn’t understand the words. They kept moving, further and further away, until they morphed into one another. Their bodies were becoming one, something else entirely. An evil laugh escaped the familiar shape. Asher’s golden hair was now a pale blonde, the men’s tall figures were shortening by the second. Curves were forming before Chloe’s eyes; the joined faces were beginning to soften from the sharp lines of the faces that were once there. Musette looked back at her; she was now completely covered in Chloe’s blood. She was still laughing that horrible laugh. Chloe could hear herself screaming, but it didn’t sound like her. Musette only continued to laugh. “Wake up, Chloe! Wake up!” All she could feel was coldness. She was drowning in that very coldness. It was as if she couldn’t get away from it, no matter how much she struggled, it stayed with her. Her vision was blurry, but she still managed to make out the impressive physique that belonged to no other than Lex Luthor. He had his back to her, he was looking down at something but Chloe couldn’t see what it was. All she could see was the bloody sword in his hand, and the tears across his shirt and back. The coldness was getting worse. Her breath was icy, everything around her, on her, her own skin felt like ice. She knew that this was real and not a dream. The coldness was far too real to be a dream. Her body began to shiver in hopes of warming up, but all she did was become colder than before. She couldn’t escape it if she wanted to. “Mon chauve, she is alive.” Asher rushed to her; he moved his hands all over her body. He muttered something in French. If she knew French, which she so did not, she still wouldn’t have understood his mumbles. He wrapped himself around her as if realizing on cue that she was freezing to death. Lex turned around, he hesitated at first, then rushed to her the same way Asher had done a few seconds earlier. Lex kissed her forehead and immediately motioned back. He looked at Asher, the question was obvious. “She’s dying. We need to get her warm.” Chloe felt strong arms lift her up from the hard floor that she was lying on. She looked at Asher’s face; his hair was covering up his scars. She used the last strength that she had left to move the hair. He couldn’t protest the gesture, due to his hands being full and all. She smiled at him, and despite the coldness, she was able to mutter one word, “Beautiful.” “I am not leaving her here.” Lex’s voice was forceful and final. She was all too familiar with that voice, but unlike the times before, she welcomed the command that he was forcing. She didn’t want to be here, around Musette. She felt Asher nod his head, and noticed that the hair fell perfectly back in place, completely hiding his scars from everyone else. Chloe was beginning to hate the gesture. Lex leaned over her, and talked as low as he could, “We will take her to my place.” They were moving now, the lights were flashing in and out before her eyes. They stopped once, and only once. Chloe could only see blood. It was just like her dream, except this time the figure belonged to Musette, not her. She mentally thanked Lex as they continued to move faster than what they had before. The air blowing against her skin made her colder than what was necessary. The warmth of Asher’s body against hers helped, but it wasn’t near enough. She was clinging to him, she wanted to be completely covered by him she was so cold. The light of the moon slightly blurred her vision, the cold night air made her shiver even more. She was quickly tucked into the familiar feel of Lex’s car. Asher moved in next to her, making it a tight squeeze between the three of them in Lex’s sports car. Chloe didn’t mind it, though, she welcomed the warmth she was receiving from the both of them. Asher moved his arms around her, hugging her tight to his body. She could feel the strong muscles that moved underneath her cheek as she laid her head against his chest. Her strength was slowly starting to come back, so she deliberately moved her left hand up, underneath, his shirt and to rest it against the scarred side of his chest. Asher slightly flinched, and soon relaxed against the feel of her skin against his. Lights quickly flashed before her eyes. She was getting dizzy, almost sick feeling. She would have probably have thrown up, but the coldness seemed to have prevented it. Her eyes were getting heavier; it was getting darker and darker, and harder and harder to stay awake. “Stay with me, Chloe.” Lex’s voice soared through her, as though it leant energy to her body. His words were enough to keep her awake for a little while, just a little while. She felt Asher’s arms form around her tighter than before. He was looking down at her, pure fear was written across his face. He was afraid for her and all of a sudden she realized that it made her sad to see anything but happiness upon his face. It was the same way she felt about Lex. It literally pained her to see him hurt, sad, or angry. For them she would stay awake. For them she will live. The car was stopped; well at least the streetlights stopped moving. Lex was the first to get out. Chloe felt the warmth of his arms reach around her. The feel of being held in his arms was enough for anyone to die in peace. She had to admit that if this was the end than it wasn't that bad, despite the horrible coldness combined with the awful pain around her throat. "Mr. Luthor." A woman's voice came from in front of them. Chloe barely had enough energy to open her eyes. The receptionist looked like she could be a model with her tall, slender frame and flowing chocolate-brown hair. She was smiling and batting her eyes at Lex and Asher. Chloe could only think of one thing. Bitch. The ride in the elevator seemed to last for hours. When the doors were open, Lex ran to their room with Chloe bouncing in his arms. The bouncing seemed to have given her a little more energy, for some strange reason. Chloe didn't even know that he knew how to run. He struggled with the key to the room all while yelling a few choice words. Asher grabbed the key and had the door open faster than what was humanly possible. "We need to lay her on the bed and cover her with as much covers as possible." Lex rushed to the bedroom, Chloe bounced around in his arms. She welcomed the softness of the bed as he laid her down. Chloe caught a glimpse of pale flesh, a bare chest to be exact. Lex followed her trail of sight over to a stripping Asher. He looked up for a moment to catch them both staring. Chloe was starting to feel a little warmer from just the sight of him. Sadly the chills were still there and they certainly were not going away. "She needs body heat." He was completely naked now; his pale skin was begging to be licked. "I just fed; the warmth from my body should help." Chloe could do nothing else but watch with fascination as Asher crawled on top of the bed, with cat-like moves, to settle his naked perfection next to her. He looked up at Lex, "I'm afraid that I won't be enough, mon chauve." Chloe watched as a range of emotions passed over Lex's face. Asher started taking off her clothes. Normally, Chloe would have objected by using anything as a weapon to beat him off of her. Oh, who was she kidding? As far as she was concerned Asher could do anything that he wanted to her. She continued to look up at Lex; she knew full well that she had the pleading look on her face. In a way she felt guilty, but she wanted to live, damnit. Lex met her gaze while he began to undress. It wasn’t slow and seductive; it was fast and full of worry. This situation, sadly, was not about sex, despite the glorious nudity of the two most beautiful men in the world. Chloe caught what little breath she had as she trailed her eyes lower and lower over Lex’s nude perfection. He was completely hairless. She immediately smiled at the fact that she won a long lasting bet between her and Clark. She’d always known that he had to have been completely hairless. Clark had argued that his clothing protected him. She had replied with, “From radiation? You dumb ass.” She never could figure out why his eyebrows were still intact, though. He crawled on the bed and began helping Asher with Chloe’s corset. It was a bitch to get on and now it was a bitch to take off. She couldn’t do anything. She didn’t have any energy to move, she could barely breathe, and she was freezing to death. Despite all of that, she had to admit that the view above her was quite lovely, though. They finally got it untied and began to move on to the skirt. The skirt was much easier to take off; as Asher demonstrated by just simply tugging and bam it was gone. Lex moved to her panties, which were lacy red and not one of her “granny panties” that she was so fond of wearing. She was glad that she was wearing the sexy panties, though; otherwise she would have died from embarrassment instead of what she was dying of right now. The two men sandwiched her underneath the abundant amount of covers. They both hugged her tight to their bodies, and the image was strangely sweet and innocent rather than erotic. The shivers were starting to go away, but not very fast. She could feel her own body start to grow warmer by the second. If you think you will survive this, pretty one, then you are wrong. Wrong. Wrong. She couldn’t breathe anymore. Darkness was surrounding her once again. She prayed that there would be no blood. “Please. No more blood.” “Chloe?” It was Lex. She couldn’t see him anymore, she knew he was still there with his arms wrapped around her, but she couldn’t see him. Why couldn’t she see him? “Musette must have rolled her mind.” Asher ran his gentle, predator hands over the flesh of Chloe’s neck. She couldn’t see him either. She couldn’t see anything. It was dark, too dark. Everything was dipped in blackness. Chloe tried to move her body, but couldn’t. She tried to breathe, but couldn’t. “Forgive me, ma petite reporter.” A sharp pain hit against her neck, it moved inside, further and further within her body until it turned into pleasure. It wasn’t anything like she’d ever experienced. The pleasure ran through her body, she wanted more and more as it continued to flow and take her in. It was the kind of pleasure that one would kill for just to have a little dose of it, a tiny drop of it. The darkness was disappearing, fading into a new darkness. This one she wasn’t afraid of, in fact she more than welcomed it. She could hear Asher breathing heavily against her neck; quiet moans came from deep within his throats. Chloe tried to stay awake, but a deep slumber called for her, pulled her away. She wasn’t afraid now, she was willing to sleep. She was hot; there was simply no other word to describe it. Her skin was on fire; she could feel the sweat dripping down her neck and onto her breasts. She hated being hot, she really did. Chloe opened her eyes, she really didn't want to. She wanted to go back to sleep, she felt as though she has been deprived of sleep for the past week or so. She knew that she had only shut her eyes for maybe ten minutes. Sometimes it sucked to be her. She found that she was covered underneath extremely thick blankets. Chloe moved out from underneath the heavy covers and moved to her feet. Her head swam with dizziness for a few moments, but she quickly found her balance. She caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror while passing by. She was completely naked! How did she end up naked? Chloe couldn't remember taking her clothes off. She never took her clothes off when going to bed. Chloe found a robe that was hanging inside the bathroom. Thank God that she was at the penthouse and not at some unknown place. Wearing the robe now tightly closed around her body, she exited the loft-sized bedroom. Then she paused for a moment. Did she really want to ask Lex what happened tonight? What if he was naked, too? What if they had done something tonight? Was it possible for someone to forget doing the dirty deed with the Lex Luthor? In a matter of minutes? Chloe shook her head. She needed to stop thinking and just ask questions. Yeah, that was a good plan. Feeling much better, and much more confident, she headed straight to the living area of the penthouse to find Lex. When she got there she didn't expect to see what she was currently staring at. Asher. Naked. Asher was naked. Images of coldness and darkness began to flash through her mind. She could see Asher and Lex taking off their clothes and getting in bed with her. They were trying to warm her up; they said that they were trying to save her life. Chloe remembered now. She remembered that the coldness was closing in, pulling her further and further into the darkness. Asher had apologized for something that he was about to do. Chloe could feel his mouth around her neck; his teeth sink in to her flesh, as though it was happening right then and there. She remembered the pleasure that flowed through her body from that intimate touch, the type of pleasure that she would kill for. "Chloe?" She looked up to see Asher walking to her. He was so beautiful and god like. He looked at her as if she was standing there naked before him, she could feel his eyes on her, heating her body even more. She closed the distance between them before she realized what she was doing. Her hand moved over the scarred side of his face. She wanted to kiss his rough flesh, she wanted to hold him, touch him all over, and tell him that it was all right. That everything was all right. Trying with what little strength she had, she moved her hand away. She could tell that the sudden movement must have hurt him, because now she could only see pain in his eyes instead of the desire that had previously been there. Chloe touched her neck with the same lingering hand. She could feel the marks where Asher had bitten her. "What did you do to me? Am I…" She didn't want to think about it, let alone ask it. Chloe somehow mustered up the strength to continue, "Am I a vampire?" "Non, ma petite reporter." Asher stepped back. For some odd reason the gesture hurt Chloe. She couldn't make sense of the feeling; all she knew was that it pained her. It pained her to see the hurt in his eyes. "He made you his human servant." Chloe turned to see a naked Lex sitting on the couch. Her mouth dropped at the sight of him. She'd never expected to see Lex casually sitting on the couch, naked and all, like the way he was doing now. Chloe reluctantly turned back to look at Asher. He drew back further now, hiding the scarred side of his face in the shadows of the room, allowing view of only his perfect side. "It is true." His voice was so low, Chloe could barely hear it. "It was to save you. You were dying; there was nothing else that could have been done. You are safe now from the others." "What do you mean the others?" Lex was the one who asked the question, though Chloe was wondering the same thing mentally. "You killed Musette, mon chauve. Did you expect the Council to say that it was okay, you were just taking revenge of your lover?" "We are not lovers!" Chloe chimed in without the slightest hesitation. She looked back at Lex, who instead decided to focus his attention on the lamp sitting on the end table next to him. She couldn't tell if her words had hurt him. Did it matter, really? They really weren't lovers. Chloe looked at Asher. Confusion was written across his face, he didn't bother trying to mask his expressions any longer. Chloe imagined that the effort involved in constantly masking one's emotions, especially the way Asher and Lex do constantly, must be rather tiring. "Asher," she said his name with a hint of compassion in her voice that she hadn't realized was there, "What did you mean by others?" She watched as he hid himself further into the shadows. He was leaning his full body against the corner wall of the living area; he was clearly trying to get as far away from them as possible. Chloe was confused; she hadn't a clue what was going on. She wakes up to find two naked, gorgeous men just standing there for her to look at, then she finds out that she's one of their human servants. Whatever the hell that meant. God, this was frustrating. "Belle Morte is coming." The words were barely audible. Chloe noticed the pain in those words, as well, and it literally pained her to hear them. "Along with her other guards." He looked at Lex, now, "She is mine and Jean-Claude's creator. You killed one of her guards and now she is coming for the both of you." Lex was in complete business mode now. Chloe knew that he didn't take threats lightly, and this certainly was a threat. "How do you know this?" "I can feel her." Asher tried to step back even further, but he was already up against the wall. Chloe didn't know why he wanted to get away from them, but she knew one thing. She wasn't about to let him shrink up into a ball and hide from her. Not knowing where this last bit of compassion for Asher had come from, she found herself moving closer to him. Asher stilled while watching her carefully walk to him. Chloe wanted to see the desire that she was so used to seeing from him back into those beautiful, pale eyes. She didn't like seeing him like this, scared and tormented. But from what? Everything was so confusing to her right now? The only thing that made sense was touching Asher, feeling his skin underneath hers. She wanted to bury herself in the smooth and roughness of his body. She ran her fingers through the golden waves of his hair. He was looking down at her, she couldn't tell for sure, but his eyes seemed to hold love and fear at the same time. Chloe reached around his waist to hold him as tight as she could in her arms. Asher flinched at first, and then soon relaxed. She secretly hoped that one day he would no longer flinch as she tries to comfort him, touch him. Then she wondered where that thought came from. It was true. She liked Asher, she liked him a lot. But what she was feeling now, felt strangely like love, almost like what she felt for Lex, but different. "It is the mark that I have given you, ma petite reporter." Asher guided her chin up, so he could look directly in her eyes, with the tips of his fingers. The movement would have normally made her feel like a child; strangely it did not, however. Instead, she felt desired, loved, and almost worshipped at the same time. The unfamiliar feeling caused odd stirrings directly below her stomach. There was no word to describe it except for want. She knew that before she found Asher attractive. Well, more than attractive, he was simply gorgeous. But now? Now, she wanted him, she needed him. It was much like the same feeling she had when he bit her, made her his, she wanted to die just so she could experience the pleasure for all eternity. Chloe realized what he had said. The mark, or her turning into a human servant, must be what has conjured up these newfound feelings that she was now experiencing. It was scary and almost exciting at the same time. Her constant wanting-to-know-the-truth-about-everything-mind began to focus on the human servant bit rather than the former. In a way, she wanted to focus more on the new feelings; her desperate need of him, but being called his human servant kept throwing her off. "I'm your human servant." It came off as a question instead of a statement like she had intended. She watched as Asher nodded his head, while in the process his hair fell over the scarred side of his face, hiding his deformity from her. Chloe really hated it when he did that, so she moved his golden waves back behind his ear and stretched to place a soft kiss on his scarred cheek. He still flinched, but not as much as usual and it made Chloe smile at the fact that he was now starting to grow comfortable with her. She decided that this conversation, this tension that was in the air, was far too serious. "I'm not going to start eating bugs like the guy from the Dracula movies, am I?" She smiled the question at him. She heard Lex let out a soft chuckle from behind them. Chloe turned to look at him. He quickly masked his face as he met her with his eyes. Lex moved from the couch, finally, and headed for them. She couldn't help but feel a little aroused as she watched him move with grace like a cat, completely naked in his glory, toward them. She wanted to feel his arms around her once more; she wanted to be sandwiched between the both of them again like before. Chloe wanted to make love to them both, there was no questioning it. Her body, mind, and heart were all drawn to them like, to quote Miss Janet, a moth to a flame. Lex stood beside her and possessively put his hand on her shoulder. If she hadn't known any better, she would have thought that he was trying to claim her, but she knew that wasn't the case. Still, the gesture seemed rather odd. "You belong to him, now." His words were cold and sharp, like a knife. Lex clearly wanted to drive his words in, twist them around and draw blood. Chloe knew what he was doing. He was doing a power play. Over her, no less, and she sure as hell didn't like it. "Stop it." Her words must have shocked him, because he now drew his hand back from her shoulder. He didn't step back, though, he stood his ground. Lex was a strategist at heart, more importantly he was a businessman and he wasn't about to appear weak. Chloe took a moment to look back at Asher, who seemed to find this somewhat amusing because he now bore a slight smile on his face. His eyes no longer held that pain that drove Chloe mad, instead they held a sort of childlike glee. "I don't know what I am, really. I know that I do belong to you, somehow." Chloe tried to make sense with her thoughts, with her words, but seemed to have failed. She, instead, decided to just flat out ask, "What the hell am I, now?" She watched as the humor left Asher's eyes and face completely. It was placed with seriousness, like what she was used to seeing on Lex. "Mon chauve, is right. You belong to me, now, but I also belong to you in return. You will live forever, beside me. I will have energy through you, I will survive through you." Chloe knew that she had fear written all over her face. She was going to live forever? What-the-hell-ever! "That is after you have received the fourth mark. You have only been given the first one." "So, I'm not going to live forever?" The excitement in her voice was far too obvious for her liking, as well as Asher's. Lex seemed to be interested in Asher for the most part. Chloe figured that he was probably just analyzing his expressions, each tiny little movement, the pitch in his voice. Pretty much like the way he does with everyone. "Non, not with just the first mark that is. You have to receive the fourth and final mark to live forever." The way Asher said it seemed almost sad. It was if he wanted a companion for all eternity. Chloe could never imagine walking the earth for hundreds, or thousands, of years without someone to love and them love you back. It was already hell for her to not have Lex love her back for just over a year, she couldn't imagine dealing with that kind of pain for all of eternity. "We, vampires, do not live forever, ma petite reporter. We do die, and our human servants can die as well. If you die, after receiving the final mark, I will die too." "It almost sounds romantic." Chloe looked up to see Asher shrug in answer to her statement. It was simple and fast; if she had blinked she would have missed it. It would have been a shame because it was a rather nice shrug. Of course, everything about him was nice. She found herself looking into those pale, blue eyes. They were the kind of eyes that would take you in and have you do whatever they wanted you to. She remembered seeing the perfection of the scarred side of his face in the painting above the fireplace, but now his scars were perfection of their own. She was falling in love with him, if she hadn't fallen already. She knew without a doubt that she loved his charisma, the kind that you could never be taught but instead be born with. She loved how he was physically divided, one side that was nothing short of being an angel his skin and physique was that perfect. The other side scarred and ruined, but it wasn't, it was of a different type of perfection all in its own. The painting above the fireplace, she remembered Violet Eyes telling her that the woman sitting beside Asher was his human servant. She thought that she had heard the name before. Didn't he also say that she had been burned as a witch? Chloe looked back up at Asher. He was looking at her, curiosity and desire written all over his face. She was now debating if she should bring up the topic of his former human servant. She really didn't want to see the pain enter his eyes for another moment tonight. But, damnit, she wanted to know. She should know, since she was his human servant now, she had the right to know. Right? "Why didn't you die?" Chloe was surprised to hear Lex ask the question. "The woman from the painting, she was your human servant. She died, why didn't you?" Chloe was beginning to think that Lex wanted it to be the case. She couldn't help but get a little angry at him, but she also wanted to know Asher's answer to all of this craziness. Chloe looked back at Asher, he wasn't looking at any of them now. He clearly wanted to get away, as if he wanted to hide somewhere. She was surprised when she found her arms around his waist and her head buried against the scarred side of his chest. She was crying and she didn't know why. Chloe tried to stop, she mentally told herself to stop it, but the tears kept coming, they wouldn't stop. She didn't flinch when she felt Asher's hand lay against the back of her head. He was lovingly stroking her hair, the feel of his fingers through her hair sooth her far more than she would have anticipated. Her tears kept coming, though, but somehow she felt better crying instead of just standing there, without any visible emotions at all. They were like an opening for her, for Asher. Chloe then realized that the tears that she was crying were really not her own, but actually Asher's. She looked up at him, arms still hugging his body tight against her own; she noticed the sadness in his face combined with a trace of fear. "I was saved from my own death. I fear that if you die, ma petite reporter, I will not survive no matter whom it is that saves me. I will not want to live." She found her tears coming faster and harder, except this time it was not just Asher's tears but her own as well. Chloe didn't know what to do, what to think even. She was so confused, but yet so certain at the same time of her feelings for Asher. Chloe felt the cold, smoothness of his lips against her forehead. He was trailing his sad kisses lower and lower until he finally reached her own lips. She never wanted to be kissed by someone, who wasn't Lex, so bad before. His lips were hard and soft at the same time; she leaned in to have all he had to offer her. She was craving him, and she could tell that he craved her in return. Chloe could hear her mind telling her to break away. She didn't want to, though, she wanted more. Asher did it for her; she immediately missed the feel of his lips against her own. She struggled not to grab him and pull him back to her so she could have her way with him right then and there. Asher wasn't looking at her, though; he was looking directly beside her, at Lex. Chloe turned to look at him. He looked far from happy. A combination of madness, sadness, and loneliness were displayed across his face. She wasn't used to Lex showing his true emotions, she was too used to him hiding them behind his stupid masks. Right then she wanted him as badly as she wanted Asher. Chloe found herself wanting to have them both, at the same time, a little ménage trios action. She wanted his completely smooth skin to join against theirs. She wanted to feel the roughness of Asher and the smoothness of Lex. She could feel herself mentally begging for it like some unknown, passionate force. She looked at Asher. He was looking at both her and Lex with an unknown look to his face. Chloe then realized what that look was. It was simple hunger, not vampire hunger, but lust. She then realized that maybe it wasn't just her thoughts of wanting all three of them together, but Asher's as well. She could feel the heat burn in her cheeks. Chloe couldn't believe that this was happening, but she couldn't help but become a little excited as well.
Lex hurried to the couch, clearly frustrated, "We have vampires coming to kill us, and the only thing you two can think about is sex." His words hit Chloe like an unknown, super force. She could feel the heat instantly rise to her cheeks. It was true, his words were true, she really did want to have sex. She looked back to Asher. He stood there with a slightly amused smirk on his face. At least she wasn't the only one in the room who wanted to have sex. "We need to prepare for what is about to happen," Lex looked back to Asher. "How many guards is Morte going to bring with her?"
"The question shouldn't be about how many she is going to bring. It should be who she is going to bring." Asher shrugged and moved across the room. He looked as if he was starting to pace. Chloe didn't know that vampires actually paced. "Belle is coming for all three of us. By now, she knows that you belong to me." Chloe met his eyes. She was starting to get used to being referred to as his, something that she would have never considered in the past. It was true, though, she really was his. "Belle will try to kill you, not only because you are now mine, but because you helped in defeating Musette." He focused his attention on Lex, "She will try to kill you, as well. I cannot protect you like I can Chloe. You are not apart of me."
She found herself looking at Lex. She couldn't help it, she couldn't turn away, she kept looking at him. "Lex." It didn't sound like her, her voice was far too quiet and breathy for it to sound like her. Her body was nearing closer to Lex's, before her mind even realized what she was doing. She was now sitting next to him in his full nakedness, but the scene seemed far too familiar and comforting to be anything but innocent. She moved her hand to rest on his and looked back to Asher, "What do we need to do?"
"I have to turn him," Asher replied with all amusement absent from his voice now. His masks were back in place, in a much heavier force than before. He was serious, completely serious.
"No." The two of them both looked back at Chloe. "There must be something else."
Lex was the one to speak up, "If turning is what will save me then so be it." He looked back at Chloe, his eyes were serious, there were no other words to describe them.
"Why?" She was off the couch now and standing before them. Her anger was starting to reach out and onto him, onto them. She hadn't realized that she was holding in the anger in the first place. "You will die anyways! You will become a vampire, the walking dead. Why do you want that so much?"
Asher's hand rested on her shoulders and she could feel her body instantly relax. "I hadn't realized that you held such animosity towards vampires, ma petite reporter."
Chloe could feel the pain that was buried in those very words, and she immediately regretted hers. She turned to look at Asher, "I don't… I mean… I just don't want Lex to die, to become something else." She was at a loss for words and she hated it. "I don't know how to explain it."
"You have nothing to fear, ma petite reporter. The one you love will live forever, by your side." Asher looked back to Lex. He was clearly referring to Lex as the one she loved. No matter how true his words were, she didn't want Lex thinking that she loved him while he loved someone else in return. "The sun will be up in less than an hour. Belle will arrive tomorrow night. Whatever decision will be made, it needs to be done before the end of tonight."
Chloe looked back to Lex, who in return looked at her. They were both looking at one another as though there was nothing else to look at. It was as though they were the only two people in the room, on the planet. She tried to see if Lex was giving away any feeling, or anything. He was so guarded she couldn't tell what he was thinking.
Lex was the first to break the stare, to Chloe's surprise. He looked to Asher, "J'ai besoin de parler seul avec elle un moment. S'il te plaît va dans la chambre, je te rejoindrai ensuite là-bas." She could feel her anger rise at each foreign word he spoke. She wanted to know what he was saying, and she had a good feeling of what it was, but she still had to know for sure. "J'ai pris ma decision."
Asher nodded his head, allowing some of his hair to cover parts of his face. "Comme tu veux , mon chauve. Je t'attendrai dans la chamber." Chloe watched as he brushed his hair back from his face. The movement clearly stated that he no longer felt that he needed to hide from the both of them any longer. She could feel her heart being pulled towards him. He took her hand in his, and laid a soft kiss to her palm. "Good night, ma petite reporter." Before she could respond, Asher had left the living room and disappeared into the bedroom.
Chloe looked at Lex, who in return was staring at the floor. She couldn't help but think that this was extremely unnerving and that Lex really needed to put some clothes on. It wasn't as though she minded seeing him naked; she in fact enjoyed the sight before her. But how the hell was she supposed to maintain a serious conversation with him while continued looking like a naked sexual-object?
"I don't like you belonging to Asher." His voice startled her from her thoughts. His jealousy was quite evident, but Chloe didn't know why. He was supposed to be in love with Lana. "I have to accept it, just like you are going to accept me turning." Lex focused his attention on her, and Chloe could feel her arms hugging her body. She was feeling cold again, the burning heat was no longer warming her body, it was soon replaced by a different kind of coldness.
"No." It was quiet and none too convincing. She didn't have anything else to say. Yes, it made her sound selfish, but she couldn't help it. She wanted him to be human, with her.
"Do you hate me so much that you wish me to die?" His voice was filled with anger, now. Chloe didn't want to admit it, but that voice really did scare her. She has dealt with the Luthors before, and she learned one thing, it was to stay away from their wrath if at all possible. Lex started walking to her. He had backed her into the wall before she had realized what he was doing.
"You know that isn't true, Lex." She could feel the tears start to form once more. Damnit, she didn't want to cry, not in front of him, not because of him. It was simply inevitable, though. Whether she liked it or not, she will always love him and he will always bring her some form of heartache. Now, wasn't the time to become emotional, she had to remain strong. She forced back the tears, "What about Lana?"
His face was so close to hers; she could feel the heat of his rage began to warm her face. He had placed his hands beside her, trapping her there against the wall. Lex had no intention of letting her slip away again, much like she had done the other night. "What about her?"
"Is she the reason for you wanting to turn? So you can roll her mind, make her think that she's in love with you since that's what you have been aiming for all along?" Her words were hard and thick, she meant for them to act like a knife. Like Lex's words earlier, she wanted them to dig in deep and twist for a much more cutting effect.
"For someone who happens to be an investigative reporter, you're not very good at realizing the truth when it is presented right in front of you." Clearly amused by her accusations, he let out a soft chuckle before continuing, "Lana Lang was put on this earth to be manipulated then left behind, that is all that she will ever be used for. You are different, Chloe. You are meant for so much more, far better things. Do you understand?"
Chloe could feel the tears coming in full force; there was no holding back now. They were far too powerful for her to contain. No matter how hard she might try, she was going to break down right in front of Lex. And technically for the second time within a week.
"You can't say those things to me." Her voice sounded far too shaky to her liking, but she couldn't steady it much like she couldn't control her tears. "Not after the things you have put me through, not after the way you've treated me. You just can't say those things to me." She sounded hysterical with her shaky voice, her bobbing head, and streaming tears.
Lex, to her surprise, began to stroke one side of her face gently with the back of his hand. It was the first time he had touched her, in a longing way, that evening. The last time was earlier that morning, and like this time, it came as a complete shock to her. She could feel the lack of distance between both of their faces, now; they were almost touching one another. His breath was hot against her skin as he spoke, "I must do this." He let the words linger for a few moments before he ended them with a hard kiss to her lips.
Chloe wasn't expecting the hard, roughness of his lips against hers. Having his lips against hers was only something that she had fantasized about, not something that she would have expected to come true. And the reality and the fantasy of those very lips actually met in agreement.
Lex roamed his hands over her robed-clad form, while desperately trying to consume all of Chloe that he possibly could in that one kiss. She let out a slight moan as she felt his tongue try to sneak its way past her lips, and she soon opened them to let him in, to let him completely take her in.
She realized that she was pushed firmly against the wall, and she was silently thankful for it, because she seriously thought that she was soon going to lose her balance from this mind-blowing kiss. Lex snuck his arm behind one of her legs and positioned it firmly around his waist. Chloe's robe had started to come untied, and she could feel the immediate embarrassment from her soon to be nudity. Lex seemed to not have noticed, and instead continued to dance his tongue across hers as if promising her exotic positions with those very movements for a future time.
When he finally broke free, Chloe instantly realized her lack of breath intakes and soon decided to make full use of the moment to suck in as much air as possible. She might have looked like a dork, but she didn't particularly feel like dying. Lex leaned his forehead against her own, despite her mental wishes; she welcomed the comfort that was shared between them. She could feel his possessive fingers run through the strands of her hair, his breath came out in full force against the tip of her nose, the heat slightly tickling her.
"I've been waiting for far too long to do that." She could feel the instant blush rise to her cheeks once more. She felt herself having to look at him, look at his eyes, to confirm that he was in fact the one who just said that he'd been waiting to kiss her for a long time. He looked back, with nothing else but pure desire written across his face, and Chloe couldn't help but wonder where new discovery had come from. How could she have not realized that Lex wanted to kiss her? How could she have not known that he desired her? She really was absent minded when it came to men liking her back.
She looked away, she didn't want her voice to waver like it did earlier, and she knew that if she continued to look up at him, into his lust-filled eyes, that it was going to do so against her wishes. "I don't understand. I thought… I don't know what I thought." Chloe was starting to get frustrated from her complete loss of words and logic. "Why? Why now? Is it because I belong to Asher, now?"
"No." That one word sounded so simple, yet so complex at the same time. Chloe needed more than just a one-worded answer, so she decided to lead him on further with an urging nod. "Territorial has always been a part of my nature, and despite my best efforts I have always felt that way when it comes to you. I do not like the fact that you belong to Asher, but it is something I must continue to live with, whatever my objections may be."
"You could have had me from the start, Lex." Her statement was loud and harsh, but it was the truth. She wanted to make him realize what he could have had; she wanted to make him regret ever acting as though he had feelings for Lana and not her. Sure, she was being a bitch, but she had the right to be at this point. Right? Right. "Now that someone else takes interest in me, you realize that I might not wait around forever for you. Is that it? The truth is, Lex, is that I stopped waiting for you ever since you professed your love for someone else. And I love Asher, and I'm not going to stop doing so just because you've stated your newfound desire for me."
He looked back to her; all desire that might have lingered had now vanished. Seriousness was all that was evident in his eyes now, nothing else. Lex cleared his throat before speaking; she could tell that he was thinking over his next words more than what he normally would have, "You love him."
The statement, which was probably meant as a question, made her realize what she had said. It was true. She did love him. Somehow, she had fallen for the scarred, tormented vampire in a span of just a few days. In a million years, she never would have thought that she would have fallen in love with a vampire. But, then again, in a million years she never would have thought that she would end up loving a former playboy whose business practices were questionable. It was true, she realized, she was attracted to the dark, brooding types with the tormented souls.
She needed to sit down, though. She needed to get away from all the nakedness, not only physically but also mentally, that was laid out before her. The couch was looking cozier by the second. Chloe slowly moved past Lex, partly in fear that she would brush up against his skin and she would lose what little logical thought she had left for the night, and never make it to the inviting couch.
"This, none of this, makes any sense." The couch was as comfortable as it looked. Her body literally sunk into the cushions where they engulfed her like feathers from Heaven. At that very moment she realized just how tired she was. She needed to get some sleep, the deep sleep that you don't want to wake from. There was this little matter, though, that wouldn't allow it. She had to deal with this, no matter how badly she didn't want to. She knew that she had to get this current topic resolved so all three of them could move onto the life-threatening situation. "What do you want me to say, Lex?"
"What do you want me to say?" Her own words hit her in the face in full force. It made her angry and sad at the same time. She knew what she wanted him to say. Deep down, she's been waiting for what seemed like an eternity to just hear those three words. He knew it, too. She could hear it in his words, in his question. He was just playing with her.
"I… I need to be alone for now." Chloe looked at the clock then looked outside through the windows. The sun was nearing, soon Asher would be asleep, or whatever the vampires do when the sun comes up. "You need to go to Asher if you're going to turn before the sun comes up."
"How did you know?" He hadn't made any attempt to hide the surprise in his voice.
"I don't know, actually." Somehow, she had understood what they had said, just then. She didn't understand it when they had said it, but now she did. Chloe shook her head. The whole thing was too confusing for her to try to figure out right now. She needed sleep and Lex needed to become a vampire. Right now, those things seemed far more important than trying to understand how she understood French.
"Go." She looked up at him. For the first time since knowing Lex, she watched him hesitate. He just stood there and stared at her, no more like into her eyes, as if he was trying to understand her. He didn't have to try, she had laid all of herself out for him to poke and prod at, for him to discover. He quickly left the room, leaving her completely alone.
Despite the increasing pull of wanting to go to sleep, she still couldn't quite bring herself to do so. The couch was more than comfortable, so that wasn't the issue. No, the issue was Lex and Asher and what they were both doing in that bedroom. Chloe didn't want to watch Lex as he died and then come back to life, or whatever it is that happens in order for someone to become a vampire. But the ever-curious reporter in her wanted to know, she needed to know.
Chloe found herself clumsily walking to the bedroom, with a few shoulder collisions in the doorframes, but nothing to worry about. Her hand was on the doorknob to the very room that held the most beautiful men she had ever seen. She looked behind her; she wanted to make sure that the sun wasn't up yet before she opened the door. It would be bad if she accidentally burned Asher, or both of them really, all because she wanted to get a peek of what was going on. It wasn't up yet, but it would be soon, so she had to act quickly.
With all of her concentration to remain as quiet as possible, she slowly opened the door. She thanked God that there wasn't any embarrassing squeaking sound as she tried to snoop. Chloe remained behind the door as she tried to see through the little crack that she had managed to create. It was dark inside, almost too dark, but she still managed to spot Lex's smooth skin glowing in the darkness. She watched as Asher's hand reached around his waist while he used his free hand to draw Lex's neck closer to those pleasurable lips of his.
Lex carefully positioned himself on top of Asher; they were now both laying down on the over cushioned bed. The silk sheets slid underneath their bodies making the whole scene look as though it had come from a romance novel, except it was with two men.
Chloe opened the door a little further so she could get a better view. To her surprise she saw Lex lean down for a kiss. No, calling it just a kiss did not do it justice. It was far more than a kiss, it looked like they were having sex, but with their mouths, but far more erotic than anyone's wildest imagination. Chloe wanted to join them, she felt as though she needed to join them, but she wouldn't dare. She knew what was about to come and she didn't want to be apart of it.
Asher moved both his hands over Lex's naked back, exploring all of his smooth skin much like Lex had tried to do with her earlier. Lex moved further into the touch and bared his neck to Asher's beautifully sculpted lips in the process. Chloe watched with pure fascination as the vampire moved his lips over the other's bare neck. His eyes gleamed over like they were sex-induced. Lex moaned, a sound that Chloe had never heard him make. It was a deep, masculine sound, and it made her completely aware of how sexually attracted she was to both of them.
Some blood trickled down his throat, and Asher let up from his neck long enough to lick up the blood with his tongue. As soon as she saw the crimson, despite how erotic the picture was of the both of them naked, she had to get away. She couldn't watch it any longer. Chloe didn't want to see Lex die, even though she knew he really wasn’t dying, the whole turning was all the same.
She quickly closed the door, as quietly as possible, and ran back into the living room. She welcomed the immediate soft feeling of the couch, and gladly sank down into the cushions for the second time that night. Chloe soon realized that she was curled up into a ball, something that she hadn't done since she was a little girl. She was scared. Why else would she curl up in a ball? She was scared of what was happening in the other room. And more importantly, she was scared of what she was going to find the next night.
