The empoussa looked offended. "No! We were going to leave him with Kelli, but the daughter of Eirene stepped in. He's with her for now."

The older demigod glanced over, "Nothing drastic happened, then? The kid is younger than I thought. Maybe we should put off our plan until he's older."

Nico scowled, "I'm nearly thirteen! I'm grown up enough!"

Luke folded his arms and raised an eyebrow. "Old enough to be interested in girls? Or to know what sex is?"

Percy's been having dreams about it, and he got into Annabeth's house to find everything she knew about the Labyrinth. She's probably the closest thing we have to an expert on the subject."

Nico nodded, "I see, but what does this have to do with souls?"

Percy smirked. "Poseidon was upset when Athena voted to kill me at the Winter Solstice and said it would be unwise to let me live. He grumbled about how she hadn't cared about that when it was her child, and I asked what he meant. He told me that Daedalus, builder of the Labyrinth and probably the smartest inventor ever, was a son of Athena and had found some way to cheat death. If that is true, then his life force is probably linked to the Labyrinth, according to Annabeth's notes."

Luke took up the plan. "Most of the Demigods only want recognition from their parents, not the end of the world. We lure the monsters and the Demigods loyal to Kronos into the Labyrinth, saying it's for an attack on Camp, then kill Daedalus and collapse the entire structure on them, which takes several of our bigger problems out of the equation."

Nico nodded, his eyes bright. He no longer blamed Percy for Bianca's death, having talked with other ghosts who had died on quests and presented a more rational argument than Percy's guilt-stricken one, but the grudge against Dr Thorn and the other monsters still remained. "It might take some time to find his soul, but I think I can do it."

Luke inclined his head, "Relax for tonight, then, and get a fresh start in the morning."

Nico looked awkward. "You know Jessica, the Aphrodite girl who helped demonstrate yesterday? Well, I wanted to try something, but I need your help."
