Please note the change back to Ana's POV!!
I settled into the couch for what I hoped would be a few peaceful post-dinner moments. Gail had helped clean up from dinner while I fed Phoebe. Christian had been keeping Ted entertained in the den. We were all trying to figure out how to work as a team these last two weeks. It was going as well as can be expected, I think. I had a rough recovery at first from the C-section. I didn’t feel like I bounced back quite as fast as I had with Teddy. Phoebe Rose was doing wonderfully. She was such a sweet, laid-back baby. She liked to be held and coddled, and as long as she was in someone’s arms, she was happy. This didn’t seem to be too much of a problem so far, especially when Christian was home. Seeing my sweet Fifty Shades with his little girl was… everything. He was so gentle with her, so loving. Always kissing her, murmuring to her. She brought out a side in him I had thought only I could tap into. It was like he was meant to be the father of a daughter. She was one lucky girl. I had been bonding with my baby, too. I treasured the moments I breastfed her, remembering how quickly those months seemed to go with my little boy. When I wasn’t feeding her, though, I tried to spend as much time as I could with Ted. I had been an only child, never having to fight for my parents’ love, but also feeling the loneliness and isolation that sometimes came without brothers or sisters. I wanted my children to have a good relationship, to be friends, and to know that we had enough love to go around for both of them. I was deep in thought about my sweet family, resting on the couch as Phoebe laid peacefully in her bouncy seat. Teddy played on the carpet with his toys, and Christian sat next to me, caressing my feet lovingly. Teddy rolled his trucks around, crashed two cars together, made his airplane fly in the sky. He was all boy these days. He ran around with his jet, soaring it with his arm, and headed straight for his sister. “Play, Baby!” he squealed. Christian flew off the couch just before the plastic toy made contact with Phoebe. “Theodore!” he roared and ran to pick up the baby. “Christian!” I cried. He had never, ever raised his voice at Teddy before, who was running into my arms, startled and sobbing. “Come here, baby, Daddy didn’t mean it,” I murmured to my son, trying to soothe him. Christian just stood silently, Phoebe in his arms, starting at Teddy and me. I think he was in shock. Maybe he had even startled himself. “Christian, why would you yell at him like that?” “I… The baby… I…” Christian stumbled, unable to find the words. “You have to teach him, baby, he doesn’t know. If you yell at him, he’ll just resent his sister.” Christian remained shell-shocked, big apologetic gray eyes lost. I motioned for him to give me Phoebe, and we tried to switch children. I took the baby in my arms, and Christian held out his hands for Ted. “No, Daddy!” Teddy squirmed away. “It’s okay, baby. Daddy’s going to show you how to make nice to Baby Phoebe.” Teddy climbed onto Christian’s lap reluctantly. Christian gently took his hand in his and showed him how to stroke the baby’s legs gently. “There you go. Make nice, Teddy,” I cooed. “That’s a good big brother.” Teddy smiled down at his sister. “Make nice baby,” he repeated. Christian nuzzled his nose in his son’s hair, a silent apology to his boy. “I’m sorry, Ana,” he whispered. “I don’t know what got into me. I don’t know what I’m doing.” He continued to help Ted stroke Phoebe’s leg, more soothing himself than his son with the patterned strokes, I think. “You’re so good with them.” “Christian, you’re an amazing father, but yelling at them won’t help anyone. I’m just learning as I go along, and you can, too. We can do this together.” I missed the little luxury of being able to take my Fifty in my arms and hold him, something I couldn’t do with two kids in our laps. “I would never have been rough with Mia. I just knew not to be. I wanted to protect her, not hurt her.” “Well, you were already six years old when she came, baby. That’s a big difference from two! Teddy is a toddler; he doesn’t think about things like that.” “You’re right.” Christian looked down at his son, who had relaxed in his arms and was beginning to get sleepy. “Come here, sweet girl.” I moved as best I could without disturbing Phoebe, cuddling up to Christian and positioning my baby on my chest. Christian held all of us, one hand in Teddy’s hair, another stroking my back, his eyes on our daughter. “I need to protect you all.” “You need to love us all. That’s it. Just love them, baby.” “I do. I love them so much it hurts. I’m overwhelmed with love.” “Christian, you went from never loving a person outside of your family to adding three new people to love in just three years! It’s a lot to get used to, but you’re doing amazing, okay?” “Okay. I love you, baby. I love you so much.” Oh, Fifty, I know! “I know, baby. I love you. With everything that I am, I love you, Christian Grey.” I kissed my husband, kissed him deeply, desperately wishing I didn’t have to wait another month before I could mold myself to him again. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
