A/N: Yes, I know it is pretentious to OBVIOUSLY have me as one of the hero characters, which is why I’ve kept him majorly on the back-burner until now. But I’m still keeping with the movie, so please cut me a little slack. Besides, I ran short of really cool Japanese boy names. I liked in the Tenchu series, so that was that. Last chapter, here we go.
Chapter Four: Shiki As the sun dawned across the land, Shiki returned home and reported to Jyubei. “You have done well, even if it has cost us the body of our army.” Jyubei answered. “We must go, there are things to do.” Jyubei led Shiki out into the fields but they were suddenly stopped by a foreign man in a deep blue dress. “Who are you?” Shiki demanded. “I am the one who shall take your master’s life. Look into my eyes.” Ken stood before them, and he held up painted nails as he cast a hypnotic spell upon them. As Ken cast the spell, his vision revealed the true nature of people before him. Shiki didn’t change, but Ken saw clearly the image of Kage in Jyubei and stopped short. “So you know,” Jyubei answered. “Kage? It cannot be!” Ken said in surprise. “Kage?” Shiki asked. “You lie!” He jumped forward, sword drawn and landed the blade deep into Ken’s throat. “You shall die in silence!” He took the blade out and Ken fell down dead. Shiki turned but Jyubei was gone. He left an obvious trail, and he was headed back to their stronghold. Shiki took a slight detour and headed there through the forest. Later, Jyubei was going over a report for the Emperor when he heard the faintest of noises. “Don’t try it Shiki, I know you are there.” Jyubei turned and looked at the figure crouching on a rafter. “Is it true? Are you Kage, leader of the Shadow Ninja?” Shiki demanded. “Indeed I am. It is quite a cosy arrangement. I didn’t expect you and your comrades to do as well as you did.” Jyubei drew his sword. “Let’s do this.” Shiki jumped down from the rafter, sword drawn. He lunged at Jyubei, but was thrown off and landed in a heap. “You’d betray your Emperor for greed. You are no ninja, merely a profiteer, making money any way you can.” Shiki attacked again, but Jyubei was too good, and disarmed Shiki and knocked him over. “I would. He’ll never know.” Jyubei raised his sword to strike but Shiki kicked out and caught him off balance, sending him over. “Well let me teach you something our former master taught me.” Shiki put his hands together and called the eight symbols of the ninja. “Azuma Ninja Trick, the Lost Souls of the Fallen.” A golden light burst form Shiki’s hands and there stood Ranzo, Gembu and Sho’s spirits. Each one in turn reached out, disarmed and restrained Jyubei. “It was a cold death you lined me up for,” Ranzo snarled. “My death was certainly one of pleasure, but most unnecessary,” Gembu retorted. “We fought with honour and now we return the favour,” Sho said, forcing Jyubei to his knees. Shiki took up his sword. “For Master Senjuro Akechi,” Shiki called and took Jyubei’s head off. Shiki looked at his fallen friends. “Thank you,” he said. “Our pleasure. See you soon,” Sho called, and the three souls disappeared. The following day, disguised as a mere peasant, Shiki went to the Palace and asked the Emperor for work. While doing so, he cast a spell upon the Emperor and tricked him into loving him. Shiki had full sexual power over the Emperor, and from there ruled the nation for a while. He erected tablets of remembrance for his fallen friends, created a fire department for the palace and found a new wife for the Emperor, one he ensured would not be divorced. After that, Shiki disappeared into the night. Some say he became a lone wolf defending the capital, while others say he created another clan. Either way, Shiki was never truly heard of again. Shiki is a Japanese term for ‘Four Seasons/Elements’. Kage is a term for a feared demon. Tenchu tribute to Onikage, ‘The Shadow of Feared Demons’.While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
