“No Idea what your talking about.”
Jean-Claude looked at her closely, “I’m not stupid Val, you can meet my gaze without drowning, and you have an immunity to us. Your no necromancer and yet…. I don’t know what you are. You don’t feel like Anita, but on the other hand you feel of death. Like you been to the land of the dead and back. That’s what you feel like.”
Asher cut in, “Ma ami, she a normal teenage girl, Jason would have told us if she had a…unique ta.” H.” He was hesitant about the last part.
Jean-Claude turned to Asher, “What if our wolf does not know. What if she’s been hiding it her whole life. That could be bad.”
Anita said to Jean-Claude, “That’s a lot of “What ifs”, and what do you mean bad?”
“Ma petite, you remember when your power lashed out when you were a teenager. Who knows what would happen if hers did.”
“Excuse me, could you not talk about me like I am not here. That’s very rude.”
“So is not telling me of your abilities when you come into my territory!” Jean-Claude snapped.
“Look your ri I d I do have a…. talent, but I can control it and its not a danger to you. Just don’t tell Jason.” She pleaded.
Anita went to Val and kneeled in front of her wheelchair, “Honey, are you hiding this from him.” Val looked down at her lap. Anita lifted her chin up to look at her face, taking in her features and the dark sunglasses that hide her eyes from the world. “Why would you hide this from him, he loves you very much and is very understanding. You know about his condition don’t you?”
“That he’s a werewolf, yeah I know. This is much worse. At least there are more like him. To my knowledge and research I am the last of my kind, not like there were many of us to begin with but still…”
Jean-Claude and Asher knelt down next to Anita to look at her trying to read her emotions. Asher was the one to question her, “Sweetheart, what do you mean your last of your kind?”
“It isn’t something you tell other people.” She said sounding like a small child.
“Honey, please tell us, we will make sure your kept safe if that’s what your worried about?”
Val took a deep breath, ‘I should trust them, it might be nice to have a few people to lean on when my job gets rough, and Anita’s a little like me so maybe she will understand.’
“If I tell you, you can not tell Jason. He figured out some of it when he took care of me when I was little, he doesn’t know the entire truth though. I will tell him one day, but I wish for more time to cope.” She told them.
“Alright, we promise we won’t tell Jason or anyone else for that matter without your permission.” Anita said.
Val hesitate then told them truthfully, “I am a Mediator.”
Dun du dun duh… I was going to make this longer but I think I should separate it into two Chapters. Review like always. I’ll start working on the next chapter now.
