Disclaimer: I do not own The chronicles of Narnia, Sadly. Even as much as I would like to. The book and it's characters belong to the man C.S Lewis. It is his genius that brought them to us. (Even if we don't agree with how some of the books end ~Wink~ But that is what Fanfiction is for.) I am also making no money off of this. I am writing it for the enjoyment and oppertunity to express my ideas on how things should of gone.
A/N: Thank you all so much for the reviews!! You have inspired another chapter! It isn't beta-d but I promise it will get that way. I love you guys so much! I hope you like this one as much as you have the ones before it. Please Read Review and Most Importantly Enjoy.
P.s: See what happens when the reviews come? More chapters get put up at a quicker rate. This is a good thing.
Now! On to the story!

“Good night Lucy.” Tumnus left her asleep on the bed and smiled. “And sweet dreams.”
Tumnus sighed wistfully. His hand slid up and touched his cheek where she had kissed it. His cheeks burned red when he thought about it and the evening they spent together. The sunset painted the sky of Narnia copper, dark blues and red. It set the mood for a perfect quiet time together.
He sat there with her until she fell asleep against him. Tumnus smiled and sat down in a chair, beside the fire place. His mind kept thinking back over things. He was floating on a natural high.
“Tomorrow.” He leaned back against the chair and pulled his blanket over him. “You go back to Cair Paravel and...I..” He shook his head. He shouldn’t think about such depressing things after such a wonderful evening. “I will stay there for a while. If she wants me to.”
His eyes closed. The crackle of the fire, her breathing and the night sounds played a lullaby for him. His mind drifted into sweet dreams and wished of his future. Even if they didn’t come true, they were still sweet wishes.
“M..Mmm..” The sounds of chirping birds were the next sound he heard. “Hm?” Tumnus stretched his hoofs out. His hands raised in the air. “Morning already?” He yawned and turned to the open window. He didn’t remember opening that.
“Yes it is morning already.” Lucy chuckled. “Good morning sleepy head.”
She sat down across from him. Her hair was neatly brushed and her dark curls once again fell over her shoulders. She also had on the gown he washed for her. Lucy Pevensie looked a hundred times better this morning. Even the natural rose color in her cheeks returned.
“You look vibrant this morning.” Tumnus curled up in the chair and chuckled. “Did you sleep well?”
“I slept very well.” Her smile was lighting his house up like the sun. “I owe that to you.”
“Hm?” He poked his head from the blanket and chuckled. “What did I do? “ Tumnus couldn’t help but to smirk. “So I can be sure to do it again.”
“Silly.” She pushed her self up and pulled the blanket off of him. “Rise and shine. It is a beautiful morning.”
“I’m up.”
“Yes but you’re not up. Come on Tumnus. Stand up. Get some blood flowing. Oh! I was also wondering..” She bit her bottom lip. “Would you consider staying at Cair Paravel for a little while?”
“I..would like that.” Tumnus sat up and stretched again. “Mm..mm..I think I see why you like this old chair. It is very comfortable.”
“Yes it is.” She chuckled and placed his folded blanket on the other chair. “Your bed is pretty soft too.”
“As long as you slept well.”
“I did.” She smiled. “Now come on. You should pack a couple of things for the trip huh?”
He chuckled and nodded. Lucy smirked and held up the saddle bags that she pulled off the horse. Tumnus smirked and took the bags from her.
“Is this a hint to get packing?”
“Umm..” She placed her hands behind her back and pondered his question. Her silver crown, atop her head, shone brilliantly in the sun that the window let in. “Yes.” She nodded and answered finally. “It is.”
“Okay.” Tumnus laughed. “I get the hint. I will get cleaned up and pack.”
“Thank you.”
She stepped closer to him and looked up. Lucy motioned him to lean closer with her finger. Tumnus blinked and leaned down at her bidding.
“Yes?”
“You are too tall.” She kissed his cheek again. “But that is okay. I just wanted to tell you that you made me very happy. I am glad that you said you would stay at the palace with me. I think the company will do me some good. It would feel uncomfortable going back to a totally empty palace.”
“N..Not a problem.” Tumnus forced him self to breathe again. He could feel his cheeks turning red right before her eyes. “I’ll just go pack.”
“I am going to go outside and check on the horses while you do that.”
“Alright.”
She chuckled, walking off past him. Tumnus sighed and smiled. His heart leapt with happiness. She was feeling better. Lucy wasn’t crying anymore. She was smiling and even laughing. That was more than he could of hoped for, considering all the things that had been happening these past few days.
“Thank Aslan.” He turned to look at the door. “Maybe..she..” His hand touched his cheek. “Could...consider me after all.”
“Tumnus.”
He heard her call from outside. He jumped back to reality and smiled. What was he thinking? He should be packing!
“Just packing. I will be right out.”
“Come here.” She opened the door and motioned to him quickly. “You have to see this.”
“What is it?” He grabbed a few things quickly and shoved them into the saddle bags. “Is something wrong?”
“No.” She shook her head. “Come and see.”
“On my way.” He chuckled at her antics. “I grabbed some bread and jams for the trip.” He said as he stepped out the door. “I..”
She grabbed his hand and pulled him over quickly. Lucy smiled and pointed to the sky. He blinked confused at first but it was soon made clear to him.
“Isn’t that beautiful?”
“It is a ...rainbow. “ Tumnus nodded. “That is a good sign.”
“Sign?” She turned to look at him. “What do you mean?”
“Rainbows bring good fortune and luck.” He smiled at her. “This is what my father taught me anyways.”
“Oh? Wow.” She looked back up at the sky. “I like how it is going through the clouds like that.”
“I wonder if it is going to rain. They normally do not appear until after a rain but still.” Tumnus looked around for a moment. “Where is Kale and the others?”
“Oh..I told them we would meet them outside the forest. They wanted to gather a few things before we left out for Cair Paravel.” Lucy chuckled.” Stuff like fruits and such.”
“Ahh alright.” He grinned. “I guess that means we get to ride by our selves for a little.”
“I guess so.”
She whispered it. Lucy found her self blushing. She had never thought about Tumnus in that respect before. It wasn’t such a bad thought either. He raised a brow at her sudden quietness. Tumnus stepped over and peeked around a horse at her.
“You want to get going?”
“Um yes.” She chuckled. “You know. I..feel strange inside.”
She walked over to her horse. Tumnus helped to lift her up onto it’s back. He mounted Peters’s horse after and glanced at her.
“How so?”
“It is like I have a new found peace in my self. Maybe evan a new confidence that I did not have before.”
“Really?” Tumnus smiled. “That can be a really good thing if you want it.”
“I think I do.” She nodded. “I really do. It is like..I..I don’t know.”
The horses started walking as they talked. They knew the way to the palace with or without the guidance of their riders. Tumnus thought about what she said. She was right. He too was feeling a little different inside. He was more open to certain ideas which he had been suppressing years before.
“I know what you mean.” Tumnus smiled. He rode beside her. “Maybe it is because you will be turning eighteen soon and..you are feeling excited about it.”
“Maybe.” She looked around the forest. “I don’t think that is it. Although, I do look forward to spending a day on the beach again. I love the sound of the water and the birds in the sky.” She sighed. “I secretly hope that Aslan will come back. I ..can’t help but wonder if he..might know a way for Peter, Edmund and Susan to come back.”
“He might. Aslan is a very hard soul to predict. Some say he is around and we just do not see him because he doesn’t want us to. Others say he waits until he is needed. And still others say he likes to leave things to the capable hands of Narnia’s rulers.”
“What do you believe Tumnus?”
“I believe that if you really need and want him to show that he will come.” Tumnus smiled. “So maybe he will feel your hearts wish and come.”
“I hope so but..I suppose it is okay if he doesn’t.” She smiled as she looked down at the saddle horn. “I mean I do have..you there with me.”
“Yes you do. For...as long as you want or need me.”
Lucy blushed at hearing his words. She looked down quietly and could only smile. Why though? She never thought about him in such a way before. He was Tumnus. He was her friend and companion. He was always there for her when she needed him. He was the first to always try and help her. She gasped silently as her mind started to put together answers for her.
“Hello.” Kale waved to them as they came through the path. His words brought Lucy away from her thoughts. “We have everything ready.”
“Thank you.” Tumnus smiled. “Sorry if we are late. I over slept.”
“That’s fine.” He chuckled. Kale smiled at them both. “We have a tent and some foods packed. Hopefully, if this weather stays nice, we should reach Cair Paravel in a couple of days.”
“You have a tent?” Lucy was surprised. “You really do travel prepared.”
“We had it on the supply cart. I sent one of my men to get it for you last night.” Kale whistled ot the others. “Lets go.”
“M..me?” Lucy looked between Kale and Tumnus. “I don’t..need..I mean..it is your tent.”
“Yes it is our tent and we all decided that you and Mr. Tumnus need it more than us.” Kale chuckled. “Stop worrying so much about us your highness. We want to help.”
“Told you.” Tumnus grinned.”You can’t make people stop. They want to help you.”
“Hush.” She lightly nudged him as she rode beside him. “I can’t help it if I want to think of my friends before me.”
“Hey!” He laughed, grabbing her hand. Tumnus leaned over and kissed the top of her fingers lightly. “That is a good quality to have but you really can’t argue against everyone.”
“I can try.” Lucy pulled her hand away. “Can’t hurt me if I do.”
“No. I suppose it can’t.” Tumnus grinned. “Just like everyone else is going to keep thinking about you.”
Kale chuckled to him self as he watched the two. He had his own thoughts about them. They looked good together. The people of Narnia saw them together for many years though. Most of them figured Lucy and Tumnus would be together sooner. Some believed neither of them would embrace their feelings. Kale? He figured fate would act when it was ready. So he didn’t push it.
“Kale?” Lucy looked up. “Be sure and let us know if you or the others need a rest.” She smiled. “Alright?”
“I will.” Kale turned around to look at her fully. “We are fine right now.”
“Well I mean it okay? Don’t put me ahead of your own selves. Around lunch time I think we should all stop and have something to eat. Maybe if we see a stream that would be some place to stop.”
“Of course Majesty.” Kale smiled. “Tumnus is right. You are a noble queen.”
“I..” Lucy blushed. Kale galloped ahead before she could ask him when Tumnus was talking about her to him. “T..Tumnus?”
“I..might have had a little chat with him about you while you were asleep.” Tumnus was blushing just as brightly as she was. “You know..in passing.”
“Yeah. In passing.” She shook her head. “When did you have time to go and..talk to him though?”
“Well..you did sleep a lot at first and we were all worried about you.” Tumnus glanced about quickly. “I naturally had to check on Kale so we talked.”
“Silly faun.” She smiled inside and out. “What would I do without you around?”
“You would ...find a way to persevere and triumph at any and everything you attempt.”
“You have a lot of faith in me.” He had her blushing nearly constantly. “I am flattered.”
“You look ..umm..” Tumnus took a quick breath. “You look ..very..”
“I look?”
“You look very beautiful when you blush like that.”
“Oh...Tumnus.” She looked down again. Her breaths started to come quicker. “Thank you.”
“It is the truth. Also..” His mind was slapping him around for what he was about to ask. “I..was wondering if..” Tumnus started to fidget slightly. Why was this so hard!? He asked her to have a dinner or tea with him many times before. “Well what I mean is, After we reach cair Paravel...”
“Tumnus are you alright?” Lucy never saw him get this flustered for words. “What would like to ask me?”
“I would like..to maybe spend another day with you. Have some lunch or dinner and after we could sit out on the beat at Cair Paravel and watch the sunset together again.” He took another breath. Tumnus spoke it very quickly. It was the only way he had the nerve to ask her like that. “Because I really enjoyed when we ..did that the other day.”
Lucy raised a brow at him. He asked her on an outing together? He asked her to tea and lunch before of course but this? Her heart started to beat faster. He could see her cheeks that were only a light red turn at least three shades darker.
“Y..you don’t..have to accept..if..you don’t wish.” Tumnus didn’t know how to take her silence. “I was just thinking that it would be a good way to spend your birthday and..”
“Tumnus.” She smiled. He blinked because she was leaned over and had a finger over his lips to hush him. “I would love to. Just as long as you promise to play your flute for me again.”
“You, my lady, have your self a promise.” He kissed her finger tip softly. “And you can yell at me all you want for that. If it gets you to say my name then it is worth it.”
“Tumnus.” She was still blushing from before, but now it went even darker. Even her ears were turning red.”This is really no fair.”
“How so?”
“Because I have no idea what I can possibly say to argue against that logic.”
“That is because..” Tumnus chuckled. “Well I don’t know but when I come up with a reason, I will be sure and let you know.”
“Why Thank you.” Lucy grinned. “That way I can come up with an argument against it and get you to call me Lucy.”
“I think I said it once...You will have to ask me at least a million more times.” The faun grinned. “Because my lady sounds..so..well..you are my lady.”
“Well if you put it like that.” Lucy bit her bottom lip and looked up at him.”It sounds really good.”
“We are approaching a small clearing.” Kale called back to them. “We have been riding for a bit. The men want to stop and get a drink. Is that alright your majesty?”
“Oh..Oh! Of course. “ She looked around. “Wait.” She didn’t recognize where they were at all. “How long have we been riding?”
“I..don’t know.” Tumnus blinked. “Kale?”
“It is well past afternoon.” The centaur chuckled. “You two have been talking for a while.”
“It appears so.” Lucy smiled. “Well I think we should definitely stop for a while. So we can have a little something to eat and rest up a little.”
“Very well majesty.” Kale nodded. “We will stop.”
Tumnus looked over at her and nodded. Lucy shook her head and smiled at him. He was starting to grow on her inner most feelings more and more.
“Tumnus?”
“Yes my lady?” He was looking at her still. “Something else on your mind?”
“Yeah.” She leaned over and touched his cheek with her hand. “You really are special.”
“Not as special as you.” Tumnus brought his hand up to hold hers as he spoke. “But I thank you for your compliment.”
“It is the truth.” She nodded and pulled her hand away. “Come on. Lets catch up.”
Tumnus laughed and started to gallop ahead. He had a weight lifted off his heart. He was even happier now than when he first met her. Lucy hung back for a moment and smiled. Her hand touched her chest and she felt her heart beat.
“Maybe..” She whispered. “Just maybe it won’t be as lonely here as I thought.” Lucy blushed and shook her head. “Guess..I’ll just have to wait and see.”
“My lady?” Tumnus turned his horse around and waited. “Are you coming?”
“Yes.” She gave her horse a light nudge with her knees. “Be right there Tumnus.”
“The others are setting up a blanket by the stream for you.” He turned his horse back around. “Looks like they are setting out lunch.”
“That is sweet of them.” She trotted up beside him. “I hope they intend to eat with us.”
“Probably.” He smiled and started off again. “If not, you can always insist that they do.”
“You know me too well Tumnus.”
“My lady. I don’t think anyone could know you too well. There is so much to you that it would take a life time in a half to know you too well.”
“Thank you Tumnus.” Lucy whispered. “You don’t know how much that means to me.”
They were stopped just at the edge of the trail. Kale and the others looked over at them. The black centaur chuckled and shook his head. He nodded to the others to go ahead and start their lunch.
“Majesty?” Kale called. “Mr. Tumnus?”
“Coming.” Lucy waved. “Come on Tumnus. Lets go get something to eat.”
“Alright.” He nodded to her but paused. “Lucy?”
“Yes Tumnus?”
“I think...I might just be in love with you.”
He took off in a quick gallop away from her. Lucy gasped and stared at his retreating form. Her hand was over her mouth in still shock. Did he really say that? He did. Her entire body blushed as she looked down and whispered in the softest of words.
“Think I love you too...Tumnus.”
