--Celine Dion
David was still in a minor state of shock. The window was down and the misty cool wind was causing his hair to billow around his face. He was hoping the roar of the wind would help him to calm down and help clear his head. He had and still was randomly pinching himself in order to convince himself he wasn’t still in bed. He just couldn’t bring himself to believe that a god like Edward Cullen would be interested in him…like that!
He looked away from the window and down at the marble white hand that was still holding his. It was so cold and it was very smooth. How could someone’s hand stay so cold?
“What is it?” Edward asked, turning around a sharp bend in the road.
David looked up from their entwined hands to see that Edward had dark circles under his beautiful eyes. They made him look even more mysterious and hauntingly handsome. Had they been there before? Was he tired? Did he suffer from insomnia?
“Nothing,” David said, squeezing the bigger hand in his own, giving him a smile. “Are you cold?”
Edward shook his head. “No. Are you cold?”
“I love the cold,” David told him, turning to look back out his window. The cold helps you not to feel…anything. “I can’t wait until winter.”
“Really?” Edward asked and David turned to see him grinning. “But, you’re so tan?”
David laughed. “Living in Florida will do that to a person.”
“Ah,” Edward nodded. “Someone is an Apollo worshipper.”
“I look good gold,” David told him, running his free hand through his locks, making the curls bounce as though they were springs. “Who cares if I have to pay for it when I’m thirty?”
He saw the grim look Edward’s striking face took and he saw a deep sadness wash across it. What in the world? Why did he look like that for? Why was he suddenly so sad?
“The winter is very beautiful here,” Edward said, slowing down, and turning off onto another road. They were completely surrounded by forest on both sides of the road now. “They sky is so gray and the ground is so white.”
“Like you?” David asked, poking him on the cheek. “I think the vampire look suits you very well.”
He noticed how Edward flinched as if he had just raised his hand to strike him. Had he said something wrong?
Those golden topaz eyes turned on him and they were like molten gemstones. They were slightly flickering with an almost crimson orange light. They were breathtakingly beautiful in their spookiness. Those dark circles only made them even more so.
“Does it?” He asked in a really deep voice. It trailed across David’s flesh like running water, causing him to shiver with desire. There was just something about Edward’s voice that made him want to submit himself totally to it.
David nodded. “You’re going to have to read me a bedtime story sometime.”
Edward blinked. “Huh?”
“Your voice,” he said, leaning back in his seat. “It is very nice.”
He felt drunk.
“Of course it is,” Edward said matter of fact.
David snorted. “You’re so full of yourself.”
“Nope,” Edward said, slowing the car down. “It is the truth.”
David rolled his eyes. He was happy that Edward was joking now. He didn’t have that sad look on his face anymore. He hated that sad look. It just felt so wrong. Someone so beautiful shouldn’t have that kind of look. How had he obtained that look? Something terrible must have happened in his past. Nobody ever got that look just because.
“You keep on telling yourself that,” he said, closing his eyes. “So, where are we going?”
“I’m not really sure,” Edward said and he could see the impish smile even though his eyes were closed. “I just thought we would drive around and see where these roads take us.”
David opened one eye, turning to look at him with it. “Are you serious?”
He nodded. “I’m just that spontaneous.”
David laughed, shaking his head. “I don’t want you taking a wrong turn.”
“Why’s that?” Edward asked.
“I’ve seen one too many scary movies,” he said, looking out at the dense trees. “The blondes always seem to die somewhere down the line if not first.”
“Really?” Edward asked.
“Yes,” David told him, making sure his cell phone still had service just in case.
“Don’t worry,” Edward said, giving him a wink. “I’m the only predator you have to worry about.”
“Thanks,” David said, wondering if Edward’s teeth had always been that sharp looking. “I feel so secure in knowing that.”
“Hey,” Edward said, squeezing his slightly smaller hand. “I won’t let anything or anyone touch you.”
David could see the honesty in his eyes and he smiled. It was nice to someone who possessed honest eyes. In fact, it was blindingly refreshing.
“Really,” David said, looking away so he didn’t fall into those golden pools. “Keep your eyes on the road and tell me where you’re taking me.”
Edward looked back to the road. “I’m going to share my secret place with you.”
David blinked.
“It is a place I like to go to when I want to get away from my family,” he said, turning the wheel. “And I thought I would share it with you.”
David widened his eyes just a little bit. Was he for real? Well, this was exciting.
“I have to park,” he said. “And then we will have to walk for a while.”
David nodded. “This is wonderful. Let the horror movie being.”
Edward laughed, turning off onto a dirt road. “Action!”

The walk though the misty forest was really nice. Everything was so vivid and green. Birds were singing and butterflies were all over the place. They were like colorful little jewels with wings. There were wings of yellow, orange, crimson, cerulean, and black. They were all so pretty.
“I can see why you love to come here,” David said, pointing to a pretty green butterfly. “This place is like an enchanted forest.”
“Are you tired?” Edward asked, turning around to gracefully walk backwards. It was like he had eyes in the back of his head or something. He didn’t even trip over the tiny little log. It was as if his feet knew where everything was.
David shook his head. He had a lot of stamina when it came to things like this. He made sure of it. Plus, he was so not the girl in this relationship…or whatever it was at the moment.
“Come on,” Edward said, holding out his hands for him to take. “I’ll give you a piggyback ride.”
“A what?” He asked, cocking a delicate brow. There was no way he had heard that correctly.
Edward turned around, hunching over. “Hop on.”
“You’ve got to be kidding,” he laughed. “I’m a lot heavier than those bricks I carry in my backpack.”
“Come on,” Edward said, shaking his butt at him. “Get on.”
David suddenly began to blush a golden pink. It looked like he wasn’t going to be able to talk him out of this.
“It’ll be faster,” Edward said, making it sound like a promise.
David narrowed his eyes, crossing his arms across his chest. “Are you saying I’m too slow?”
“Exactly,” Edward chuckled, holding his palms out backwards, wiggling his fingers at him. “Jump on my back and let’s go.”
“If you really want me to,” David said, rolling his eyes in defeat. Had he given up too easily? He didn’t know. He was new to this. He should have watched more romance movies. “I don’t want to hear you whine and whimper when you fall over on your face.”
“Uh huh,” Edward said, turning his head around. David hadn’t missed that wicked smile.
He shrugged his shoulders and pounced on the bigger teen’s broad back. He wrapped his golden arms around his pale neck and felt those powerful arms go up and under his knees, pushing him up.
“Ready?” Edward asked.
David nodded. “Yes.”
Edward snickered. “Hold onto me tight.”
“All right,” David said, tightening his arms.
“Too tight,” Edward gagged, stomping his foot. “Too tight!”
David laughed out loud. “Go-go, Ed!”
The wind was rushing through his hair as Edward jogged along the stream. His emerald-blue eyes were wide in shock. Edward was strong and he was fast on his feet. There was no way this could be normal.
“You okay?” Edward asked, jumping across a huge fallen log with ease as if he had grown wings, and ducking under a low branch.
“I’m fine,” David answered, having his right cheek pressed firmly against the base of Edward’s neck. This was truly unreal.
“You should see me move when I don’t have luggage,” Edward laughed, running between twin trees. “Having fun?”
“I am,” David said, peeking over a shoulder. Edward must seriously work out. “This is awesome.”
“Here we are,” Edward said, coming to a complete stop before a row of tall bushes. “Please remove your seatbelts and exit in an orderly fashion. I thank you for riding the Cullen Express.”
David laughed as he was lowered to the ground. His legs were tingling and he walked around in circles to get the blood flowing again. Edward’s grip really was like iron.
“Are you all right?” Edward asked in concern.
“Legs have fallen asleep,” he said, looking around with a grin. “Is this it?”
“No,” Edward told him and pointed. “It’s through those bushes.”
They were green and covered with white flowers.
David darted off, running over to them, and looked back at him. Edward was standing in the shadow of a giant tree, looking hauntingly beautiful. He waved to him, turned back around, parted the bushes, and stepped through them.
His ocean green eyes were wide with wonder. He was looking at a circular clearing in the midst of giant trees. There were flowers of every color all over the place and butterflies were dancing from one to another like faeries. He couldn’t believe his eyes. The place was absolutely breathtaking.
“What do you think?” Edward asked from beside him in a hushed voice. “Do you find it lame?”
“Not at all,” David said, running out into the midst of dancing butterflies. “It’s wonderful!”
He spun around in circles, laughing. “I only wished the sun was shining.”
Edward looked away from him and David stopped. “What is it?”
“I’m tired,” he said, rubbing his left shoulder, smiling. “No more candies for you.”
David dropped his jaw. It hit the grass, bruised, and he picked it back up. He pointed at the alabaster stud. “NEVER!”
Edward laughed, going down on his knees, gracefully falling over onto his side, curling up like a giant cat. “You are a heavy man.”
“You lie!” David wailed like a siren of the sea. “You’re a dirty liar, Mr. Cullen!”
“Come here,” he said, holding out a hand to him.
“Why?” David asked, taking a tiny step back.
Edward pouted. “Don’t you want to cuddle with me in this field of dreams?”
David looked down at him and his heart began to thunder in his chest. Why were his knees trembling as if they were up against a storm? Oh, that pout was so full and sexy. He wanted to nibble on that bottom cherry red lip.
“Come here,” Edward whispered like a slow moving fire, smiling with such white teeth. “I promise I won’t bite…yet.”
A cool breeze fluttered across his face and he could smell the sweet intoxicating scent of honeysuckle. “All right.”
Edward sat up with a fluid grace that slightly startled him, but he got over it. The bigger teen motioned that he wanted him to sit down between his long muscular legs. So, he did so.
He felt those powerful arms wrap themselves around his narrow waist, pulling him back against a rock hard chest. Shivers trailed down his spine when he felt ruby red lips planting kisses at the base of his neck. Those icy lips made his whole body tingle right down to the tips of his twitching toes. It felt like his whole body was on fire.
“You’re so warm,” Edward cooed, gently squeezing him, moving his lips in agonizing slowness along what golden flesh was exposed. “And you smell…so good.”
David could only moan in response and he felt the arms around him quiver for just a split second. What in the world was he doing? He was letting a guy touch him, that’s what! And it felt wonderful, too!
He felt Edward put his cold nose against his heated flesh, sniffing him in with a slight snarl. It made his root twitch and he bit his bottom lip. He had almost had an accident. His whole face was blushing like an amber rose. How could this guy affect him so?
“Can I kiss you?” Edward asked, making him blink.
He turned his head around, feeling those cold lips against his rosy golden cheek. “What did you say?”
“I want to kiss you,” Edward repeated, nibbling on his left earlobe. “Can I be the one to give you your first real kiss?”
“You’re asking?” David asked in shock. Was this guy for real?
“I won’t take something that you don’t want to give,” Edward told him in a very serious, but very sensuous voice. It was like his voice could make the stars sing green with envy.
David put his hands over Edward’s cold marble ones and gently unfastened them. He felt the bigger teen tense up behind him. It made him smile. Did he honestly think he was refusing him? He turned himself around and put the tip of his golden nose against the tip of Edward’s snowy white one.
Edward let out a sweet scented breath of surprise and his topaz eyes were dark with want. David had never seen such need in someone’s eyes. He had never seen such desire before either. Did this guy actually need and desire him? It was so pure it was like he could touch it.
“Ouch!” Edward hissed, putting a hand over his right eye. “What the…”
“Oh my God,” David snorted, lowering his finger, eyes wider than the gates of Hell. “I am so sorry.”
Edward looked at him with one confused eye. The other was squeezed shut. “What was that for?”
“Well,” David said, blushing redder than Snow White’s apple. “I saw something in your eyes and I wanted to touch it.”
“What?” Edward asked, rubbing his eye. “An eyelash? Fuzz? A hair?”
“Need,” David whispered, looking away. “I saw need.”
He looked back to see Edward blinking his eye a few times and then those crimson red lips smiled. “Can I need you?”
“You’re so weird.” David laughed, pushing him.
“I’m not the one who thought he could touch ‘need’ in someone’s eye,” Edward retorted with a victorious smirk on his wicked face.
“I’m so sorry,” David chuckled, fighting the blush. “I really, really am.”
“I think I’ll live,” Edward told him.
“Do you still want to?” David asked, looking up at him through long eyelashes. “Do you still want to give me my first kiss?”
Edward leaned forward, gently caressing a honey golden cheek with a cool hand. He slightly tilted his head to the side, softly touching their lips together.
David felt his heart begin to melt in his chest and he closed his tear-filled eyes. He wrapped his arms around Edward’s neck, wanting him to kiss him harder. He wanted him to kiss all his pain away. It was like there was a flame burning from deep under his skin and it was slowly consuming him whole.
He opened his mouth, moaning when Edward’s feather soft tongue darted into his warm cavern. It was like fire met ice and there was steam.
He suddenly felt hands on his shoulders and the kiss was ended all too soon. He was panting for breath and a tear fell from the corner of his left eye.
There was a look of wonder on Edward’s bone white face and he closed his eyes when he felt a smooth finger glide up his wet cheek. Edward was wiping his tear away.
He opened his eyes to see Edward put his finger to his crimson tongue, sighing in what he thought was content. He couldn’t believe it. Edward had kissed him and tasted his tears.
“I’m sorry,” Edward said, looking away from him as if in deep shame. “I was afraid you might not be ready for that.”
David gawked. “What?”
Edward just kept his head turned away.
“No,” he said, wiping his eyes. “I’m just happy, Edward.”
“Why the tear?” He asked, looking confused. It was absolutely adorable.
“Uh-uh,” David said, shaking his head. “It’s too corny.”
“I don’t care,” Edward said. “Tell me why.”
“No,” David said, getting to his feet. “It’s too embarrassing.”
“Oh, come on,” Edward said, rising to his feet as well. “I feel bad. Make me not feel bad.”
“You’re such a selfish creature!” David snarled in mock rage, spinning away from him. “What’s left of my bruised and battered pride is on the line here.”
“Tell me, tell me!” Edward said, catching him in a really strong embrace. “Or I’ll kiss you until you pass out from oxygen deprivation…”
“Uh huh,” David said, struggling to get free.
“It is a well known fact,” Edward told him, laughing. “Blondes can’t breathe and kiss at the same time.”
David froze, blinked, and then his nostrils flared in mock outrage. “You’re so mean, rude, and a really bad kisser!”
“You do know that God sends liars to Hell, right?” Edward asked him in all seriousness. “Nobody can kiss like I can kiss. I am made of awesome.”
David struggled and finally just gave up. Edward was physically stronger than him. There was no escape from his iron embrace. Oh, it made him shiver with desire.
Edward was right. His kiss had set him on fire. He was surprised that lava wasn’t streaming from his ears.
“Tell me,” Edward said, resting his chin on top of his head.
“You made me feel,” David told him, leaning back against his hard chest. “You made me feel when I haven’t felt in a really long time.”
Edward was silent.
“I thought you were just some arrogant jerk,” he said, closing his eyes, listening to the sound of the woods all around them. “But, you’re more…much more than what you allow others to see.”
“You think so?” Edward asked in a tiny voice.
“I hope so,” David told him, taking a deep breath. “Because I will kick your butt if you really make me cry.”
“What’s that I hear?” Edward asked in a really silly voice. “Oh, that’s just the sound of your bruised and battered pride jumping out…no…jumping through the window.”
“Take me home!” David roared, fighting to get away from him.
“Nope,” Edward laughed, pulling him back. “Come here.”
Edward was seriously beginning to drive him crazy. His body was reacting to him and it felt too damn good. He had to stop this before Edward discovered just how crazy he was making him.
“What are you doing tomorrow?” Edward asked him.
“I don’t know,” he said, turning around to look at him. “Why?”
“I thought we could go to Port Angeles and catch a movie,” Edward smiled, letting him go. “And then we can have a nice dinner at this place I like.”
“A date?” He asked, cocking his head to the side. “Are you asking me out on a date?”
Edward pouted. “What do you think this is?”
He didn’t notice the sudden change on Edward’s face.
“An outing in the woods,” he told him, spinning around, and froze in his tracks.
Edward had a firm grip on his shoulder. “Get behind me.”
“That’s a really big kitty,” David whispered.
“Be quiet,” Edward ordered, stepping in front of him.
“What are you going to do?” David asked with wide eyes, grabbing his arm, pulling on it.
The mountain lion was huge and it was stalking closer.
“I’m going to make it chase me,” he said and his voice was angry. “And I want you to run in that direction, following the stream back to the car.”
“Are you crazy?” David hissed, shaking his arm. “That thing will tear you apart.”
Edward shook his head and David looked at the cat. He was going to have to reveal his powers. He couldn’t let Edward sacrifice himself.
“I’m really fast,” Edward said. “I know these woods.”
“And so does that four hundred pound pussy!” David told him, taking a deep breath to stay calm. He was slowly losing it.
The mountain lion snarled. It was less than thirty feet from them now.
“When I say run,” Edward told him, handing him the keys. “I want you to run as fast as you can back to the car.”
“I’m not leaving you here to die for me!” David yelled, seeing that his cell had no service. It was typical.
The giant cat screamed, stalking slowly closer. Its muscles were rippling. The damn thing wasn’t huge. The damn thing was massive.
“GO!” Edward yelled, running at the monstrous feline.
“NO!” David screamed over the cat, mentally shoving Edward onto his face with invisible hands, causing the cat to leap over him.
The lion landed on its paws, and began running right at him with snarling fangs.
“DAVID!” Edward cried.
Emerald-blue eyes hissed with molten radiance and the wind began to blow through those silky blonde locks. His hair began to shimmer around his face like wisps of golden sunlight.
“Bad kitty!” David yelled, mentally punching the lion in the snout, breaking bone.
The massive cat screamed, falling over.
“WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?” He shrieked, mentally holding in it place with his power, peeling fur from flesh with an invisible dagger, ignoring the cat’s screams of pain.
“Aw,” he cackled, stalking closer like a shimmering cloud of death, smiling with malevolence. “Does that hurt?”
The cat screamed, snarled, and spit in confused rage.
“GOOD!” He roared, kicking it in its bloody snout with his foot. He was in tears. “I’ll teach you to sneak up on people and scare them…”
He mentally tore its tail off with a sickening snap of bone and it flew into his hand. The lion screamed and couldn’t move. It was helpless before him.
“You big bully!” He cried, smacking it with its own tail as if it were a whip. “You’re always picking on those who are smaller and helpless!”
The tail cracked across the bleeding animals screaming body. “Well, how does it feel to be the helpless one now, huh?”
“DAVID!”
He blinked his eyes and the sound of shattering bones filled his ears. The cat was silent and very, very still. There was fur and blood splatter all over the green.
“David?”
He dropped the tail and looked up at Edward in silence. Why was Edward looking at him like that? Why wasn’t he screaming in horror at what he had done? Why wasn’t he running away from the scarier monster?
“I’m sorry,” he said, turning his back to him. “I just…I just lose control when I’m angry or frightened. I’m a freak.”
“Hey,” Edward said, making him jump. He was right in front of him. A cold hand was gently caressing his blood splattered cheek. “I told you to run.”
“What…” He was about to ask, only to shiver when Edward leaned forward, licking his cheek with a cool tongue. “How did you…”
“You’re not a freak,” Edward told him, taking his hand. “Come on.”
“Did you just…”
“Can I come see you tonight?” Edward asked, pulling him along after him.
“What? You’re not scared?” He asked in stunned shock. “I went psycho and…”
Edward chuckled. “That wasn’t psycho.”
David was silent.
Edward turned and looked at him. “That was…sexy.”
“Sexy? Are you mad?” David asked, stumbling over the log. “I just fillet a mountain lion without touching it and snapped every bone in its body. That’s not sexy, Ed! That’s scary!”
“Leave your window unlocked,” he said, still smiling.
“Are you even listening to me?” He roared and then blinked. “My window?”
Edward nodded. “I’ll be coming in through it.”
“Why?” He asked, pulling on his hand, but Edward wouldn’t let go of it. “We have a front door.”
“It’ll be late,” Edward told him, turning around to bend over. “Jump on.”
“Are you in denial?” David asked, refusing to move. “Get you lily white ass out and drive off! I just killed that cat!”
“And saved me from having to ruin my favorite sweater,” Edward told him, still bent over. “Thank you.”
“What?” He asked.
“Thank you,” Edward repeated, shaking his butt. “Now, get on, please.”
“You’re mental,” David said, leaping onto his back with ease. “You’re fucking mental.”
“I’m not fucking Mental,” Edward told him, starting to jog. “Well, at least not yet anyway. I’ll wait until you ask me to. Just let me know if you want it to be your bed or mine.”
David chose to ignore that. That last thing he needed right now was an erection.
“I was scared,” he whispered, squeezing his neck. “It jumped at you and I just…lost myself.”
“You saved me, knowing by doing so, it would reveal your secret,” Edward said, running around and between trees. “That alone tells me you’re not like other humans.”
David blinked. Humans? Why did he say that?
“You were going to risk letting that thing eat you,” he whispered, feeling the tears fall. “Just so you could give me the chance to try and get away.”
Edward was silent.
“I’m sorry, Edward,” he said, just letting the tears fall now. “I’m sorry for calling you all those mean names in my head, and yelling at you, and…”
“Hush,” Edward told him, jogging along the running stream again. “You’re going to make yourself sick.”
“You’re really not afraid of me?” He asked, really wanting to know.
“If I was,” Edward snickered. “Do you think you’d be on my back with your arms around my neck right now?”
“I see your point,” David said, closing his eyes.
“We’re here,” Edward said, coming to a stop. “Down you go.”
“Huh?” David asked, looking up. “Weren’t we just…”
“Come on,” Edward said, putting him down. “I bet you’re tired.”
David looked around in silence. There was the car.
“I’ll drive the speed limit,” he smiled. “That way you can take a nap.”
“Um, okay,” He said, following him over to the car.
“Hmm,” Edward said, checking his pockets. “I don’t seem to have my keys…”
“Oops,” David said. “I think I dropped them back…”
He blinked and Edward was gone. He spun around. What the hell?
“Edward?” He asked, only to jump when he was pecked on the shoulder.
“Got them,” he said, jangling them before his eyes.
David’s eyes widened. There was a tiny trace of blood on the corner of Edward’s mouth. And, the dark circles were gone from under his eyes.
“Your mouth…”
“Oh,” Edward said, wiping it. “Come on.”
“Did you bite your lip when I pushed you down?” He asked, following after him. “How did you do that? You were in front of me and then you were gone?”
“I’ll tell you tonight,” Edward said, opening the door for him.
He got in and put his seatbelt on. Okay, this was weird. Well, not so much. Had he dozed off? They had been nowhere near the car. And how did Edward do that? He was always in one place and suddenly in another in an eye blink.
“Do you have powers, too?” He asked, looking over to see that Edward was already behind the wheel. Okay, now he was certain that Edward wasn’t normal. Was it possible? Could Edward be like him?
“Let’s just keep this amongst ourselves,” Edward said, putting the key in ignition.
“You think?” David asked. “My mom would kill me for revealing myself, burn these woods to the ground, and my grandmother would roast marshmallows.”
Oh, shit! He had revealed himself. He would have to tell his mother. What if Edward…
No! Edward had been willing and did try to risk his life for him. There was no way he would betray him.
“Speaking of your mother,” Edward said, starting the engine. “Is she like you?”
David nodded.
“Ah,” he said, grinning. “Now I see why…”
“Why what?” David asked in confusion.
“Nothing,” Edward laughed. “I’ll tell you tonight. So, go to sleep and I’ll hum to you.”
David just looked at him. The more he looked, the closer he inspected, the more infatuated he became. Edward was like chocolate and he loved his chocolate.
“You have a beautiful voice,” he smiled, leaning his head back against the seat, and closed his eyes.
“I know…” Edward sang in tune, turning the car around. “Everyone says so…”
David snorted and Edward took his hand in his. He hoped it would be a long ride home.
“About that bedtime story,” Edward said. “Which one do you want me to read to you tonight?”
