“Benji!”
Margo’s screech probably scared off whatever wildlife was near her, but at the moment, she did not care.
She could kill him! She knew something had been up with he and Makai had been standing near her small fire looking off into the trees. That was several things wrong, just in a glance! They were not laughing, hollering, running, tramping, or causing trouble. Just standing there, near her fire. Near her alder bark rinse.
Having been adopted into the tribe when she was younger, Margo had no Native American in her blood. And for some reason, some god, some where, had decided to make her not only blue eyed with a honey complexion that refused to get darker under the sun, but also to give her blonde hair. Not brown, black or even dirty blonde; very blonde.
In a good sized group of people with black or dark brown hair, she was easily noticeable. Very noticeable. She stuck out. She’d hated being seen as different, even if she was the only one who really saw herself that way. But a young, parentless girl who was a bit angry at the world, defensive around other people, and unknowingly insecure didn‘t take time to see that it didn‘t matter. At least not at first.
So, she’d cut her long wavy hair short, and used the indigo herb to dye it a dark blue-black. Teak, who had taken her in and became a grandfatherly figure to her, had never objected, but had hinted at his love of her pale long locks. Sometime in her early teen years, she’d stop dying it, secretly to please the old man, and switched to a darker blonde by rinsing her hair with water that alder bark had been boiled in.
Margo had come to accept that she was apart of the tribe, even if she looked different. Ehlonna, Dakoda’s mate, had helped her with that. For Ehlonna was a human with fiery-crimson hair that definitely stood out among them, and though she was not Indian either, she was very protective and loving of the tribe, and they accepted and loved her in return.
The now nineteen year old Margo still rinsed her hair, keeping it a dark blonde, and wearing it at shoulder length. Once in a while, she’d let the blonde grow in, for Teak. But at the moment, however, her hair was not blonde, nor dark blonde. It was a very. . . .unique, sopping mess.
Stomping into the still-in-progress village, she caught sight of a running Makai, Benji no where to be found, of course. Oh, they were in for it. She quickly caught up with the young boy, successfully cornering him and pinning him with her ocean-eyed glare.
“Where is he, Makai? And don’t lie to cover for him.” Silence. Makai was staring, at her hair. Margo took a slow, deep breath and counted to ten. “Makai?” He tore his gaze away and looked up at her, eyes wide. “Benji. Where is he?”

Lost. Eden was lost.
It’d been over an hour since he’d left the sandy beach to venture into the woods, leaving his Uncle Arrvo behind. He stood at the bottom of a good sized hill, his brow furrowed slightly as he looked around. At the moment, Eden hadn’t a clue where he was. Though, the dark haired boy could still sense something, and it was closer than ever before.
He’d been roaming in this canopied world of green and brown so long now that the two colors sometimes seemed to blur together. And one tree looked like all the rest, only making his progress more difficult. If only he could find what he was looking for.
“Why, look what we got here.” Eden whipped around when he heard someone, definitely a male, speak behind him. There were actually three males, perhaps in their late teens, a handful of years older than Eden himself.
The one on Eden’s right had black hair and deep blue eyes, with a mildly amused and slightly wicked look on his face. He was slimly muscled, and a few inches shorter than his companions, though still bigger than the younger male. A black snake tattoo wrapped around his right forearm and wrist.
The sun-kissed blonde on his left was the largest of the three, being the tallest, as well as having the most well-defined muscles. He had warm brown eyes and his tanned skin was probably gained from time on the beach. He wasn’t smirking or smiling, and seemed uncertain and nervous.
Lastly, in the middle stood what seemed to be their leader. Of average height, he had strong looking arms folded over his chest, and a small gold hoop dangling from one ear. Light-brown hair was paired with mischievous green-hazel eyes and his mouth was upturned in a grin, interest obvious on his handsome face.
The expressions they wore and they way they were looking at him, could not be anything good for Eden. Uh-oh.

They’d been traveling for a while now, stopping off here and there to eat their fill, sometimes dumping bodies in landfills or in the water. Silas liked to mutilate his victims, slicing pretty patterns in their bloodless flesh and leaving them out. Garrett, however, didn’t approve; so they either disposed of the humans, or left them where they fell.
The trio had come from Mexico, and had decided to travel north along the coast for a while. Having passed into lower California, they were now in San Diego, and had to make a decision before continuing. To either; keep going north, through Oregon, Washington, and on into Canada; or to head into Nevada, maybe stopping off in Las Vegas, and then traveling to the East Coast.
Kaige was feeling very Canadian. He knew Silas didn’t care, as long as there were humans. It was Garrett’s thoughts that mattered most; he would make the final decision. They would soon know, for the he’d already sensed their leader returning from his hunt.
Sure enough, a moment later the tall, brown haired male appeared. Even though he’d just eaten, Garrett’s eyes were extremely red, something Kaige noticed almost instantly. “We head towards Canada, but I want to make a little stop somewhere along the way. I picked up on the most delicious scent, and followed it; it leads northwest. I’d like to. . . .meet the enticing creature it belongs to.”
At Garrett’s decision, the third member of their trio, Silas, slipped from the shadows where he’d been listening, joining them as they headed out, leaving the city with a few less vampires and a mildly decreased population.

“Let me get this straight. You two were playing near the fire, and Benji accidentally knocked over Margo’s bottle of henna powder, getting some into her bowl of alder bark water?”
Makai’s head of dark brown hair nodded slowly, eyes downcast, while Benji looked off to the side innocently. Kyrie sighed. The two were seated before her on short wooden stools, all of them inside and protected from the rain that had started not too long ago. Ehlonna had Margo inside the tent next door, and was probably doing a good job of calming her down.
The henna hadn’t properly mixed with the water, instead becoming little clumps. The result was the random orangeish colored streaks Margo now had in her blonde locks. It didn’t look all that bad, like bright highlights. . . .done by your younger sister. Kyrie was sure once Margo got used to it, she’d be okay; it would always grow out.
However, the two culprits behind it all, even though it was an accident, were probably going to get a talking-to from Ehlonna about reckless running, especially near fires, and be sent off to chop wood or some other chore; nothing too harsh. They were just boys after all, and boys will be boys.
Looking out into the rain, Kyrie noticed two figures; one wearing a far too large coat and clutching what looked like a basket to their chest; while the other, whom she recognized to be her brother, Dante, was walking closely behind. His long dark hair was dripping wet from overshadowing the smaller figure, who must be Briar, protecting him from the rain, all the while carrying several bags. They must have just gotten back from the market.
Kyrie had seen the way Briar looked at her brother, and sometimes, she didn’t think Dante was as unaffected by the sweet young boy as he seemed to be. That was why she’d suggested to Brielle to have her brother go with Briar. Hopefully someday Dante would get over the situation and get together with the brunette. Those two belonged together.

Something was nagging at Jett. Whatever it was that he had been sensing here; it was closer. More now than ever before. He’d been contemplating about going out for a walk, to see if he could find it, but he’d been busy most of today with working on the village, and now; it was raining.
But, despite the wet, the dark eyed male intended to go out. The water would wash most of the dirt and sweat away, and a walk would be nice; just him, the woods and the rain. And maybe something else. Jett had already let Koda know, and had left things in his hands.
Now all that was left, was to walk out into the falling drops. He took the first few steps slowly, enjoying the coolness on his skin, tilting his face up towards the sky. Then, he was off. Jett was going to find whatever it was. Or get soaked trying.
