It was silent in the house. Sadie was sound asleep in Alice’s arms after she told us everything. After she was sound asleep I had to leave. The rage I had felt was incredibly intense. Feeding was a necessity to calm myself and I left Alice to care for sweet Sadie.

I knew her step father had done many things to her, but the acts he committed were atrocious and my feelings of hatred toward him only increased. Running through the woods as I hunted my prey I could only envision it as him, screaming in agony as I attacked and shortly after ended his pathetic life.

I could see Alice’s concern as I left our room, but she was understanding and only asked that I return soon. I promised I would and here I was, standing back in our bedroom starring out our large windows into the night sky.

My hunger for blood was satiated, but my hunger for his death was far from gone. There were many questions and thoughts that came to me about Sadie’s ordeal, questions I knew she couldn’t answer but that we would have to answer as time went on. Surely the Vultori knew of her, after all they had moved so frequently for reasons unknown to Sadie. My only assumption would be because the Vultori eliminated all of her step father’s buyers. Also, the questions about how her blood adapted to the venom and how this had impacted her body needed answers. Over the years I had learned to hone my hunger and calm the thirst. I knew Sadie’s blood drew me, but the scent was more calming than anything. The bloodlust was not there, and that confused me. There were so many questions that needed answers. Either way, now was not the time to become paranoid or answer those questions. The family was strong and Sadie was well protected.

One thing that brought me some relief out of this night was now I understood her apprehension with me. After all of those attacks I now understood why being close with me was hard for her, yet her bravery astounded me. For all that she had been through, I could recall several times she was close with me that looking back shocked me.

The anger began to leave me, and much to my shame, desire was replacing it. The feelings for Sadie were beginning to well up and my need to have her was so strong. I could feel Alice’s eyes watching me, and as my own passion grew I could feel hers pressing against me at the same time.

I turned to regard my beautiful wife with a smile on my face and I could see the fire blazing in her eyes…

I looked to regard the sleeping mortal in her arms. Her face was so peaceful as she slept and the candle light danced over her features. I could feel every inch of my cool skin tingle with excitement as I imagined crawling over her and ravishing her sweet body.

“We truly are monsters my love.” I whispered, a smile was her only response as she held her arm out to me and I moved toward her and the innocent woman lying helpless in her arms.

Perhaps the evening would end the way we had planned.

That fire in his eyes was enough to increase my own passions. I had held her while he was gone and after my anger subsided at what she had been put through the questions came. After those passed, the desire flooded me.

She was curled sweetly against me, her head resting upon my breast and her tender hand buried in my shirt. Her soft breathing was calming and as I ran my fingers through her hair and watched her sleep, the need to touch her and take away all of her pain she ever felt was overwhelming.

I knew it was selfish and I was ashamed with myself, but as I watched Jasper I knew he was feeling the same. His body was tense and he held his arms behind his back, his fingers twitching. These were his signs of anxiety, and I knew that anxiousness was no longer due to anger.

It was when he turned to me with that smile that I felt my shame dissipate and my hunger peak. I held my arm to him and he approached quickly, crawling onto the bed, over our sleeping Sadie and myself. His lips met mine in the next instant.
The feelings of need increased as his cool lips moved against mine and his smooth tongue traced over my bottom lip. I opened to him feeling warmth pool between my legs as his tongue swept inside my mouth in the next instant, tasting me as I tasted him.

It was then I felt Sadie stir and Jasper broke from me quickly as her deep blue eyes opened to find Jasper perched above her and me beneath her.

If I could’ve stopped breathing I would have. Those feelings of guilt began to come back and my arousal was drowned at the thought that we may scare her with our desires.

That desire came back full force in her next action. She never ceased to amaze me.

The look from Jasper showed me that he felt the same…
