Chapter four
Chance Encounter
“All children grow up, All but one.”
“Its okay Tink. I already told you, I’m just goanna go over there, and tell her I’m sorry. I’m sure she’ll understand.” Peter spoke wanting to keep his voice quiet.
“Whatever.” Tinkerbell sneered crossing her arms. She never liked Wendy, so she was never in a good mood to visit her. Peter on the other hand would always be excited to see the girl. Even if they had just gotten in a fight a few days ago. “You didn’t even tell the other boys you were leaving. You know their going to be wondering where you are.” Tink went on, wanting to get across that she didn’t want him or herself to be going to visit Wendy right now. Sadly, Peter wasn’t one to take a hint.
“Oh, they’ll be fine without me. Its only for a couple of minutes. Besides, were almost there now.” Peter replied, his spirits high as usual. With an exasperated breath of irritated air, Tink grunted. This night was going to suck.
Time passed considerably fast as the pair gracefully flew through the clouded night skies of London. Casually passing Big Ben and other historical structures of the city on their way to Wendy’s residents. The two of them being so used to seeing all the gorgeous lights the town had to offer below them, continued on through the heavens, not even taking the time to appreciate the beauty sitting just below them.
Peters thoughts had nothing to do with the city or how pretty it was at night. Not that he ever really thought about it, but tonight was particularly different as he could seem to think of nothing but Wendy. And all the ways he could apologize to her. Make her understand that he only liked her, and no other girl.
Tink on the other hand had nearly fallen asleep being bored out of her mind. Her body on autopilot as she floated along the skyline with Peter. She was already angry with having to come here to begin with, so she had at least expected Peter to be going the right way and not have to pay attention to anything that was going on around her. But when an unfamiliar setting of trees and a park began to pass over her lazy eyes, she knew they were not going the correct way.
“Peter, where are we?” Tinkerbell asked, resisting the urge to smack him for getting them lost.
“Huh?” Peter replied, being too wrapped in his own thoughts. Looking down peter did in fact realize they where lost. Stopping, he Jerked his body back, and floated in mid air. Tink continuously thumped against the back of his head to let him know how mad she was. Annoyed, he grabbed the feisty blonde pixy. “I know Tink, I didn’t do it on purpose.” He explained to the fairy. Tinkerbell just humped, crossed her arms and looked away from him. With a roll of Peter's eyes he released her, and slowly floated down to the ground. Maybe he could read a street sign that would point in the direction of Wendy’s home.
As Peter’s eyes scanned the open park for any type of street, something else caught his eyes. There, under the bridge, was something moving. With his head cocked to the side he took cautious steps towards the thing stirring under the bridge. Was it a beast of some kind? Squinting his eyes, with his lips pushed together making them appear to be a thin line across his face, Peter pulled out his long sword and pointed it at the thing.
Tink, still flying next to his head, whispered to him. “Be careful peter.” She warned.
Closer and closer they walked to the beast or what they thought was a beast. Peter leaned in. Trying to peer over its small shoulders, the beasts back being turned towards him, he couldn't see its face. His eyes widened in shock and just a little bit of fear as the thing decided to roll over whimpering loudly in his face. Quickly Peter jumped back flying up to the top of the bridge and peering over the railing at the thing. When the beast before him had rolled over it’s hood had fallen off and exposed a very pale, yet very pretty, face. Not as pretty as his Wendy's but close. With a grin he flew back down to stand in front of her as she lay on her back, her face slightly turned towards Peter.
“Well that’s not a beast at all. It’s a girl!” He announced triumphant. His hands on his hips, a glowing smile on his face. “I wonder what she’s doing here.” Peter asked Tink as she flew around in circles over the girl landing on her shoulder and looking down into her sleeping face.
“Maybe she’s lost, she looks lost.” She mumbled flying off the girl and landing back on Peter. Peter shook his head. That was impossible girls never got lost, ever.
“Mommy,” The girl moaned, a hint of sadness in her voice as she rolled onto her side bringing her legs to her body. Peter turned his head to the side as he crawled towards the girl sticking his face right in front of hers. Carefully he brushed his fingertip on her cheek. Backing away he pulled his finger to his face. He rubbed his index finger and thumb together watching as he caused the clod liquid to disappear into his skin.
“She’s crying.” He mumbled his smile falling from her face as his green eyes snapped back to the girl below him. His green eyes held sorrow as he stared at the girl
“Yeah, that’s nice lets go peter.” Tink grumbled tugging on a piece of Peters dirty blonde hair, trying her hardest to get Peter to leave the girl alone and find Wendy’s house so she could hurry up and get back home. But Peter wasn’t budging. He swatted Tink away as he continued to stare at the girl. His decision was made. With a smile he stood and faced Tink.
“I shall take this girl to Neverland where she can become a lost boy.” His smiled his face turning back to the girl “You’ll never have to cry ever again.” He added with a bright smile. Peter's smile made Tink frown. That’s just what she needed, another girl like Wendy to pester her. But Peter had made up his mind and nothing his little pixy friend could say would change that. With gentle arms he picked Charlie up pulling her back pack over his shoulders as he flew off into the night, back to Neverland. Charlie fast asleep in the young boys’ arms.
The trip back to Neverland wasn’t long, it was still night time there. No way could he bring her to the lost boys at this time in night. They’d wake up and stake her to death. He didn’t want to wake them up either, but he needed to hurry and get back to Wendy. He couldn’t think of what to do with the girl. So he settled on leaving her in a dense forest, just a few feet away from the giant oak tree he claimed as his home. “You think she’ll be here in the morning?” Peter asked Tink as he set the girl down on the soft grass. Putting her backpack back under her head to use as a pillow.
“Yeah, whatever.” Tink mumbled, her back turned towards Peter ignoring him. She didn’t care rather the girl would be there in the morning or not. She prayed some beast would come and eat her. The thought made her giggle and turn around to stare at the girl. “Bye. Bye.” She mumbled to the unconscious girl as she flew off with Peter. Back to Wendy’s window. This time Tink would make sure they went the right way.
~***~
Bright sunlight hit my face as my eyes fluttered open. Sitting up, I stretched my arms high above my head. A long yawn taking over my mouth. Scratching my head, I opened my eyes all the way, and waited for them to adjust to the light so that I could see my all surroundings with clear vision.
“Wh-what?” I mumbled to myself as I looked around. My eyes scanning the field of trees that surrounded me. The air smelled of the freshest air you could imagine and in the distance I could heave wave’s crash against a rocky shore. My heat began to pump faster as I stood. Brown and red leaves lay on the ground even though the air felt like a nice summer morning. “I must be dreaming...” I mumbled as I walked a little bit further into the deep forest my hand lightly grazing each tree as I passed it. A wide smile crept onto my face as a beautiful blue bird flew right past me and landed on nearby a tree branch. This place was amazing. It had so much beauty it was unreal. ‘If only it was real.’ I thought to my self as I walked further into the wooded forest.
“This way men!” My heart stopped as I heard a voice. My body began to panic as I darted behind a tree that was a few inches in front of me. I was hoping I could blend in and not be seen. “Over here is the best hunting place.” It was the same voice before, strong, but had an adolescent ring to it. My curiosity took over me and I peek over the trees massive trunk to see, the majority of my body still being hidden. My eyes widened in surprise as I saw a bunch of boys, one sticking out to me the most. He was tall, taller then me at least. His eyes where a dark brown almost black. His hair was a mix of black and red, black on the bottom and three long red Mohawks jutting out from the sea of his big dark hair. He was wearing a black shirt, cutting right about his belly button and a dark sleeveless leather jacket over it the ends of the sleeves covered in red fabric. He also had a pair of black leather pants with rips covering the front half of them. More red fabric being seen between the large slits. I gasped as I looked at the necklace that lay across his neck. Bones, teeth to be exact. And I had a feeling, he had gotten them all on his own. “This way men!” He yelled again, lifting his arm in the air as he walked forward on the uneven ground of the forest.
Behind him was a pack of six kids, that all looked like they had some sort of animals on their heads. Their faces were dirty and covered in a think grime, as were their clothing. Bows, arrows, and guns being carried as they followed the older boy.
The main boy inched closer to the tree I was hiding behind. With a gasp I jerked back taking a slight step to the right. I took a deep breath in and shut my eyes tight as my foot snapped a twig making the noise vibrate throughout the whole forest.
“Oh no.” I whispered to myself as I squished myself up to the tree. Hoping and praying the wild looking boys didn’t hear me.
“Hold it, did you all hear that?” The main boy said his voice hushed. “Come out, come out, whatever you are.” He called. I could tell he was getting closer and closer to my tree. I had to get away. These boys didn’t look friendly at all. With a deep breath I dashed from the tree and to the left of me. I smiled to myself as it seemed I’d get away from them. But two of them popped out right in front of me.
A loud scream escaped my mouth as I quickly backed up and ran the opposite way, only to meet three more. I gasped in surprised as I tried to run the opposite way, tears slowly slipping out my eyes as I ran as fast I could.
Suddenly something hard, yet warm slammed into me shoving me backwards. I stumbled and fell to the ground. With a gasp I looked around backing away from them as much as I could. Though it was futile now as they circled around me. There was no way out.
“What is it?” One boy asked crouching down to be eye level with me.
“Looks like a Wendy.” A chubby one said placing his hands on his hip.
“A mother!” Two very little boys said at the same time.
“No, not a mother. A traitor.” The eldest boy sneered pointing his long sword at me. I shook my head at him. I was no traitor. “Hook sent her here, to find the lost boy's home.” He hollered to all the other boys around me. I stared into the boys eyes as more tears slipped down my face. I began to back away from him, but it was a feeble attempt as he only continued to keep walking forward, holding a short distance between him and me.
“What do we do?” one of the boys called, I didn’t bother looking. I was too focused on the sword still being held a few inches from my face.
“We kill her.” The boy sneered his eyes burning in hate. I gasped in horror as all the fellow boys began to yell and holler. I watched as the boy raised his sword at me. I screamed as loud as I could as he brought it down.
“NO!” I screamed dropping down so I laid flat on the ground avoiding being struck by the long, sharp sword. “Don’t kill me! I don’t know who Hook is, I don’t even know where I am!” I yelled my face flushed with anger. The boy took a step back placing his hand on his hip.
“How do I know you’re not lying?” He argued. I stared at him with my mouth open. He had a point there really wasn’t a good way to prove I wasn’t a liar. I couldn’t form words as I stared at the boy. “I know how we’ll solve this. We’ll let Pan decided” He yelled. I was relived. Hopefully this Pan, could spare me. “Tie her up!” My head snapped back to the boy. My heart beat immediately speeding up again
“What!?” I screamed as six wild boys pounced on me. “Get off of me!” I snarled as my wrist and legs were quickly grabbed. I tried kicking and wiggling around but they were pretty strong for little boys. Before I could prevent it, the boys had me tied by the wrist and ankles. I glared at the man before me as he smiled down on me. “Don’t you dare touch me.” I grumbled as he began to walk towards me, that sly grin still on his face. Without a word he hoisted me up off the ground and threw me over his shoulders. I gasped in pain as my stomach slammed hard against his broad shoulder.
“I don’t take order from traitors.” He mumbled as he began to walk back to where ever he was taking me
