Been a while since I updated--but I keep getting emails so here's a chapter to keep you guys preoccupied for now. Might I just say...AWHMAN. I wonder what's going to happen next? O_o

“Wait, you did what?” Jane asked Vishous as he crawled into bed beside her. Her eyes were staring at him hard, trying to figure out what exactly was going on inside his head. His silver eyes just stared back as he crawled up behind her completely naked and pulled her against him. That was all it took for her to roll over and wrap her arms around his neck.
“She's starved,” he said into her hair. He just inhaled her scent, a soft rumble leaving his chest.
“How starved? Completely emaciated?”
“Worse than Tohr.” V nuzzled her neck and kissed it.
“How did she even survive?” Jane asked curiously. “I mean, from what I understand your species has to feed from each other for sustenance, to keep the blood lust in check and if that doesn't happen you go insane, suffer horribly and either have to be killed or you die.”
“Humans. They aren't a strong source of relief, but they take the edge off.” The tone of his voice suggested to Jane that he knew from experience.
“But how did she survive two years Vishous? Two years without the proper sustenance for any creature is a surefire way to a painful death.” Jane was perplexed. She leaned more and more about the vampire race on a daily basis. A carefully punctuated nip at her neck caused her brain to switch gears from work to play. Or rather, sleep time with her hellren.
“You think too much,” V said into her hair.
“Only because one of us has too,” she smiled, giving his chest a light tap with her fist. “Is she going to be okay?” Always worried about someone, yes, that was Dr. Jane Whitcomb.
“I hope so,” he muttered.
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHES GONE?!” Wrath roared. His whole body started to shake, his grip on the edge of his desk so tight there was a threatening creek.“Well, she wasn't in the room when I checked on her after first meal this evening,” Jane said. “Now if you don't mind, yelling at me won't solve this any faster.” She pointed to his chair, realized he couldn't see her finger and told him plainly to sit. There were very few females who felt they could order Wrath around, actually, Beth his shellen and the good doctor [aside from the Scribe Virgin that was] were the only two.
“She was supposed to be guarded.” Wrath rubbed his temples.
“They had to sleep sometime. I'm sure she's on the premises. Vishous told me to tell you that his security system was absolutely impenetrable and with as weak as she is, she wouldn't be able to break out.” The King scoffed and leaned back in his chair.
“Please send in the trio.”
“Sure.” Jane turned on her heel, walked to the door and called for John, Blay and Qhuinn. The three walked in and nodded to Jane before bowing slightly at Wrath.
“Find her. You aren't leaving until she is standing in front of me.” John nodded to his brothers before they turned and left. Well that put a damper on their plans for the evening which didn't put them in the best mood.
When the coast was clear, she slid out of the dark corner and straight over to the cupboards. After waking up completely famished and knowing she'd be caught before she made it out of the mansion [after trying twice and getting caught both times by a very gruff looking, gun toting vampire] she had headed down to the kitchen under the cover of shadows. When she made it, she'd stayed in a hidden corner safely tucked out of view and watched. The older doggen named Fritz made it a point to come in and out multiple times that evening and with as much as he'd opened, closed, moved, shuffled and scuffled around, Vehngence knew where everything was.Unfortunately...Fritz was taller than she was, just like everyone else it seemed. Add in the fact there wasn't a step stool in sight and it made her gnaw at the inside of her cheek. So, deciding the counter would do, her small frame [still in the borrowed clothes from the night before] hopped on top of the counter top where she got to her knees and went straight for a particular cupboard. In that cupboard was honey Peter Pan and Nutella. The bread box hosted a wide variety of carbs while the banana's were next to the fridge with the bacon from first meal and butter in it. Once everything was gathered, she pulled out a pan, started the stove and stuck some butter in the bottom.
Just as she was putting the precooked bacon on the peanut butter side, she felt a shift in the air around her and slowed her motions a little bit. There were three of them, one at east entrance and the other on the opposite side of the counter at her back.
“We missed you at first meal,” the one to her left said. She didn't say anything and instead sliced up half a banana and stuck it on the Nutella side before combining each half of bread and sticking the sandwich in the hot pan.
“The King would like an audience with you, if you don't mind,” said the one to her right and still, she didn't answer. A few moments later she lifted the pan and flipped the sandwich with a flick of her wrist and a short jerk of the arm. And a few minutes after that, she used the counter again to grab a plate. After setting the fried sandwich on the plate and taking care of the dishes, she cut the crust off her bread and tossed it.
“I don't know if you heard little lady, but he said the King wants to see you,” said the one at her left. His voice had gone down half a tone and was followed by a little rumble in his chest. Grabbing her plate, Vehngence turned and started away from the stove. She went straight towards the male who'd started getting verbally rough around the edges.
Qhuinn put out an arm to stop her and he didn't know how, but she just seemed to go through it. Well, no she didn't go through it, she had moved around it in a fluid move that he had barely caught out of his peripherals. He turned and reached for her shoulder. His hand stopped when it encountered a cane.
“I wouldn't do that if I were you.” Qhuinn looked up to see Rehvenge smiling down at him. When Vehngence was out of ear shot, he set his cane down on the floor and leaned over to Qhuinn. “I just saved your life boy, you'll thank me later for it.” He nodded at John who nodded back. “She heard you. When she's finished eating she'll go and see Wrath.”
“Why did you just stop me man? I was just getting her attention.”
“Trust me kid, she heard you.” And she knew you were here before you even made it to the kitchen. That thought made the sin-eater smile before shaking his head and walking through the kitchen.
As Vehngence walked towards her room, she heard some shuffling, a grunt and then a muttered sluggish curse. Quirking a red brow, she peeked around the corner and her eyes widened a bit. There was Hollywood, clad in boxers and using the wall as a guide. He stopped and his face lifted, eyes squinted and he sniffed the air.“I know yer there...stop hiding...” She came around the corner and walked over to him. “Chyou doin sneakin around?” With a shake of her head, she turned her side to his and grabbed one of his arms slowly. He resisted and started to speak, but she used a diversion. She stuffed the sandwich she'd cooked into his mouth. He munched down and the moan resounded through the hallway. He had to reach up with his other hand to keep the sandwich together and in his mouth which gave her the advantage. Without using the wall he was unsteady and she grabbed his arm, put it around her shoulders, holding the plate in the hand that went around his waist.
“Come on, back to bed.” He mumbled something around the sandwich and didn't complain as she turned them around and started back down the hall. “Which one?” she asked him quietly.
“ 'at one,” he munched at her and pointed with a single finger—the other four firmly gripping the now half eaten sandwich. With a small nod, Vehngence directed him to his door and internally thanked the nearly naked man for forgetting to close it.
By the time they made it to the bed, the sandwich was gone and the big guy was yawning relentlessly. Gently, she helped him into bed and pulled the covers over one leg and one hand.
“How'dyou know?” he whispered. She hummed at him and turned to leave. “Wait!” His hand snapped out and latched to her wrist. Her entire body froze and she let out a very small, slow breath. “Till I fall sleep?” The question caught her off guard and she turned slowly to look down at his lazy, handsome face. There was pain in his eyes, a kind of pain she knew all to well. With a small nod, she turned and sat on the edge of the bed. His hand released her and slid over his chest where the mark of the Brotherhood decorated flesh.
“You're mated.”
“My Mary...” a startlingly bright smile appeared on his face before it fell. “She's out tonight.”
“And I don't think this is the best solution to your loneliness.”
“Only ones here'r Tohr and V.” He sounded a little disgruntled by that fact.
“Go to sleep.”
“Mhm...” His hand reached out and grabbed her gently, his thumb stroking over the inside of her wrist. Well, that was a strange way to ask for petting wasn't it? With a small roll of her eyes, Vehngence grabbed his much larger hand with her own and held it, the fingers of her other hand trailing over the skin on the back. He sighed and a few minutes later, he was sound asleep.
I know you're there. Her eyes focused on Rhage as she noted stress lines on his face now that he was sleeping.
The King wishes to see you.
Sure, when I'm done here.
You aren't his shellen, why bother? It's not your place, V said to her as he leaned against the frame of the door, smoking.
Mind your business.
He is my brother, that is my business. He stared at her as she slowly extracted her hand, grabbed the empty plate and started towards him. V moved out of the way and let her out of the room before he shut the door behind her quietly. “Go make another sandwich.”
We're late.
“Go. Make. Another. Sandwich.” She stopped walking and stared at the floor in front of her. Subconsciously, her body started to shake and her hair fell down to hide her face. Vehngence felt him behind her, felt the air shifting with his hand as it moved to touch her. Her arm snapped out and she grabbed his wrist in her small boney hand.
“I will break it.” her fingers closed tight in a threatening manner. Hot breath against her temple nearly sent her over the edge.
“Dare you to try pipsqueak.” Before the plate hit the floor, she'd elbowed him in the torso and used the momentum of him going backward and her grip on his wrist to turn him around and slam him to the ground in front of her. The sound of the plate crashing and breaking snapped her out of her stupor. Shaking off the feeling, Vehngence let his, now sprained, wrist go as she stepped over him and went to find Rehv. She found him inside of Wrath's office.
“Nice of you to finally join us,” Wrath said from behind his desk. She ignored him, walked over to Rehv and grabbed him by the arm and started dragging him towards the door. The door closed just as she stepped up too it. In a show of agitation she kicked it, forgetting she wasn't wearing her shoes and cursed. “Smart. Now how about you turn around and pay attention. We have shit to talk about.”“Let me out of here.”
“Not until we are finished.”
“Let me out.”
“No.” Her eyes cut over at Rehv.
Get me out of here now, or I'm going to explode.
Sorry baby girl, you're stuck in here until he's finished with you.
“It isn't polite to whisper children,” Wrath said in a slightly annoyed voice.
“Let me out and I will come back within the hour.”
“Not happening.” This time, she actually growled, the sound low and threatening. Vehngence turned and looked at the big male before she stalked over to the desk and leaned into it.
“Let me out, now.” Wrath leaned over and met her half way.
“What are you going to do if I don't? Cry?” Her eyes met his through his nearly black wraparounds. Now it became a battle of wills. “Sit down so we can talk.” Her body didn't miss the suggestion, in fact, she had to lock her knees to keep from falling into a sitting position.
“No,” she ground out through her teeth.
“I said sit down.” He started around the side of the desk. With each step, a thrum went through her body. Vehngence went from leaning against the desk to nearly clinging to it to keep herself standing.
“No!” He made it to her side. She turned to face him, knees ramrod straight, one hand gripping the desk to keep from falling. He bent down in front of her face. When he did, she got a full nose full of his scent and her body fell forward. She gripped her knees, breathing out hard. “I will not obey you!”
“You have no choice.” Sit down now. She heard his voice clear as day ringing out inside her skull.
“NO!” She reached out and grabbed his shirt, fisting her hand. His hand engulfed hers as he made skin to skin connection.
You cannot deny it. You're blood is my blood and I am King. Down.
“I...said...NO!” She slid her hand free of his, used both to grab his thigh and pulled him down to the ground. His head narrowly missed one of the chairs and he started to roll. She was on top of him before he could finish, her face a hairs breath away from his, fangs bared, eyes bleeding black as the temperature started to drop. “We bow to none, Blind One.”
Wrath didn't need to see her to see her. The physical contact a moment ago had awakened something inside of him. She was his blood. She was vampire. Both of those were her disadvantage. One of her hands grabbed his glasses and ripped them up. Their eyes locked and her growling got deeper. This had gone from a battle of wills to a battle of dominance. It would suck for her, but he was the one, the only and the final stop on the food chain.
One of his massive hands reached up and wrapped around her throat, squeezing threateningly. “We will talk. For now you are going back to sleep.”
He felt her eyes narrowing, felt her body growing heavier, tensing up and felt her mind pushing back against his. Seconds turned into minutes and still, she would not give up. Finally, he closed his hand enough to cut her oxygen supply. Her eyes softened around the edges a bit and her mouth parted slightly in an “O” shape. The moment she started slipping into unconsciousness, he sniffed the air and frowned deeply. When she finally passed out, she collapsed onto his chest. She weighed nothing. So, after he fixed his glasses, he got up with her and held her against his massive chest.
“Start explaining.”
“All I know is she has a temper. A big one,” Rehv said. “Hollywood controls his temper with sex, fighting and food from what I understand. Well, the midget is the same way, although...her tastes in fighting and sex would make even the most seasoned warmonger blush.”
“I don't want deets. Get her to into bed. V, guard duty.” Rehv hadn't even noticed the other male slip in the room. Well, his medicine was working. Wrath handed Vehngence over to Vishous and used his desk as a guide to get back to his chair. “When she wakes up, I need to speak to her. Rehvenge, she needs to cooperate or she won't like how I get my answers.” The sympath just nodded.
“I'll talk to her.”
“Good.” He waved them out.
Vishous turned towards the door and started out, Rehvenge close behind him. When they made it to Phury's old room and she was tucked under the covers, V took a seat in one of the chairs after pulling it close to the bed. “She's hard core?”
“All we could do to keep her in line,” Rehv said as he took a seat on the bed next to her unconscious form. “She'd leave so fucked up sometimes we were surprised it didn't kill her.”
“Giving and receiving?”
“Latter.”
“Hn.” V looked at her pale face and focused. He saw her face start sliding back inside his head, rewinding images that he called up from where he'd locked them. It wasn't hard to pick out the memories she'd flooded him with that centered around the Reverend and his right hand. “Some sick shit.”
“We did nothing she didn't ask for, and she stayed fed. When the club blew, my boys lost track of her.”
“She needs to stay.”
“I gathered as much. When the mother of the race says she belongs, she's doomed.”
“Get out.”
“Let me know when she wakes up.”
“Hn.” When Rehv was clear of the room, V leaned over and stared closer at her. “I hope you know what you're doing kid.” Vehngence's body turned towards his voice, her breath light against his face. “This is going to get ugly, and all because you have forsaken everything you are.” He reached out and touched her face. “If you don't want Havers coming, you need to talk to someone.” When he realized what he was doing, V cursed and sat back in the chair, looking off into the distance. Hell had no fury like a trapped and cornered monster fighting for survival. He hoped everyone made it out of this encounter alive.
