A/N: I'm back! Guess I really know now who the true AGU fans are, you guys are the best :-) I've been here, I've just been, you know doin stuff! I went back to school, earned a pretty little certificate, took my state test, and became a C.N.A. (Certified Nursing Assistant.) I'm super excited to have a new career!
To answer a question before we jump in, yes Amy and Anthony are a couple now. I guess it didn’t seem very official, but it’s happening :) Just as a refresher, they live with little Daisy in Jake and Nessie’s old house. Also lots of questions get asked about...Amy’s future. All I’ll say about that for right now, is that sometimes you’ve gotta read between the lines ;)
I know it’s been a long time since we’ve been with the Black family and company, so it’s kind of strange but keep in mind that very little time has passed since the last chapter. Only a couple of weeks.
This may not be my best editing job ever but I hope these next two are still enjoyable for you guys. Now lets go!
AmyI knew this was a bad idea, I knew this was a bad idea, I told myself as I cowered in the tiny little room surrounded by fancy clothes that just weren't me.
"I told you we should have just taken her to a thrift shop," either Mollie or Xandra said, I couldn't tell. "She woulda loved it."
"Just wait a minute," their aunt Rose said. "She hasn't even tried anything on yet."
"Yeah, there's probably a reason for that!" one of the twins said.
"You haven't lived until you' ve worn silk!" Swan insisted.
"Silk is # very nice, I must say," Esme admitted.
I peeked through the keyhole in the door knob and saw Nessie shaking her head.
"She just needs basics!" Bella chimed in.
Something was weird about Anthony's grandma, Bella, besides the fact that she looked his age or maybe even younger. She wore big sunglasses inside, and this was the first place she'd gone with us. I wasn't able to hear most of it, but I could tell there had been some debate about that.
"Here, try these on."
Bella threw a few pairs of jeans over the door.
Oh, thank God, jeans!
"Thank you!" I called gratefully.
Swan threw over three more pairs of jeans.
"Check out the sticker on those!" she said.
I took a look, and found the sticker claiming they'll make you look ten pounds slimmer.
"I read online that lots of celebrities wear these!" Swan added.
"Oh, well if you read it on the internet it must be true!" one of the twins said.
I covered my mouth and tried to laugh as softly as I could.
Even though it did sound like a silly claim, I couldn't resist trying on the supposedly slimming ones first.
"Holy crap on a cracker," I said under my breath.
I actually looked...good!
"Come on, let's see!" Alice encouraged.
I opened the door halfway and smiled shyly.
"I like them," I said.
"Just like? You look amazing!" Alice cried.
"You need at least four more pairs of those, stat!" Swan said, and ran off in the other direction.
Click, click, click. Everywhere Swan went, she wore heels it seemed. She thought she was way too short.
Click, click, click.
It didn't matter how nice to me these people were to me though, I'd never *really fit in.
I examined myself in the full length mirror. With these jeans, I might not even need to wear a long shirt. When I lifted the front of my t shirt to see how they fit, it felt so odd to see that part of my body, in public anyway. I never really looked at myself, especially not there.
"A.J. will just love them," Esme said.
I briefly wondered if the reason for this whole shopping trip was because he hated the way I dress.
Nessie had given me a book about the power of positive thinking. At first I thought it would be pretty lame, but was mostly embarrassed that she'd given it to me in front of Anthony.
I hadn't planned on reading it, it sat on the kitchen table for about a week. But then I felt kinda bad, and decided I should probably just give it a chance.
Some of it was a little silly, but parts were actually helpful.
So I pushed that bad thought away, and replaced it with a happier one.
Somewhere around here, Anthony was helping my daughter try on adorable little girl shoes. Now that was a happy thought.
Earlier she had been about to pitch a fit because she couldn't wait to get over to the kid's section. Anthony volunteered to take her, since Alice had already thrust a huge pile of clothes into my arms.
I knew I could trust him to help her pick out some good stuff, and make proper use of the money I'd earned from my stocks. More importantly, I knew I could trust him with her in general. He was always so gentle with her, and he was always so gentle with me. Always.
I liked knowing that he was close by.
"You should just wear those that out," Swan decided, looking me up and down. I had on a pair of the wonder jeans and sort of a peasant top that had the coolest paisley print.
"Is that allowed?" I asked.
She shrugged as Rose helped me rip off the tags.
"I guess. I do it all the time, and nobody ever told me not to," she said with a grin.
"Yup," Xandra added. "It's fine to keep doing shit until somebody tells you not to."
"Then you can play innocent," Mollie said.
Nessie shook her head.
"That must be a Dad_ism," she said.
My two favor ite people found us when we were at the cash register. Daisy was excited about her new shoes. I think Anthony was as happy to see me as I was to see him. When he came around that corner, he smiled the way he only smiles at me.
"I love it!" he said.
"You love what now?" I asked.
"The clothes!" he explained, tugging at the hem of my shirt. "They look great on you. You still look like you. I was afraid when I saw you again Swan would have put you in some goofy pink monstrosity."
He reached for my hands, and laced his fingers through mine as he turned his head to look at her.
"I did no such thing. I merely offer suggestions," Swan said firmly.
"And advice," Xandra reminded her. "You offered lots of advice."
"Lots of advice, and plenty of opinions too," Mollie said.
"Yup, lots of those."
They kept it up as Swan strolled towards the exit. I saw her waiting by the door texting somebody. I was willing to bet it was that Sasha guy. She'd been taking to him a lot since that workshop at her ballet class ended. Nobody seemed too thrilled about that. Anthony had told me that sometimes it was better not to ask, this kinda seemed like one of those times.
Fun fact: vampires can text really, really fast.
We'd gotten a pretty early start that morning. Since there was still plenty of day left, we decided to see a movie across the street. It seemed more likely that we'd end up seeing a few different movies.
"Amy? Hey, Amy!" I heard from up ahead as we all walked together though the theater's parking lot.
I looked up and saw two of Randy's greasy looking friends hanging by the entrance.
Eric and Jay.
I froze.
Maybe if I didn't move, they wouldn't see me.
Of course I didn't really think that, but that was kinda like what I used to do with Randy. I would just stay still, hoping he wouldn't see me as a threat and just leave me alone.
It rarely worked.
I'd never liked any of his friends. The last time I'd seen Eric he said that I "probably" had decent tits, and that I should let them out to breath sometime.
Randy had just laughed.
"Do you know them?" Anthony said quietly. He tightened the hold he had on my waist.
I couldn't even talk.
Somehow, my feet had started moving again.
"Hey, Amy! Who are your hot friends?" Jay called. I looked up from the ground for just a second to see that he had zeroed in on Rosalie and Bella.
"We're taken," Rose sneered without missing a beat as we walked past them.
"I bet you are," he responded with a smile I can only describe as gross.
"Got nothing to say for yourself, huh Amy?" Eric said.
People were starting to stare at us, and I just wanted to die.
Eric, unfortunately, wasn't done yet.
"That was pretty fucked up, what you did to Randy. You know, Daisy's his kid too."
I was so angry I started to shake. Or was that Anthony? Maybe it was both of us.
"Just relax," I heard his mom say from behind us.
A little further...almost to the door.
"Looks like she thinks she found somebody better," Jay said.
I turned and finally looked right at them.
"You're fucking right I did!"
I gave Daisy to Mollie and ran inside the theater, heading straight for the bathrooms. I tried to hide in the one that was just a single, without any stalls so that I'd be able to lock myself in there, but A.J. was right behind me. He put his hand up as I was trying to close the door.
"You can't come in here!" I tried to tell him, but he did anyway.
"I wanna go home!" I sobbed as he closed the door behind us.
"No, no. That's not worth ruining your day over."
I just wanted to be at home, in bed with Anthony and Daisy.
"I shouldn't have let them talk to you like that, but if I went over there I would have just lost it," he said apologetically.
He bent down so that he was at my eye level. I squeezed my eyes shut, I didn't wanna look at him.
Sometimes I could pretend that this had always been my life, that before had just been a bad dream. As much as I wanted that to be true, nasty reminders like this just wouldn't let me forget.
"I'm so sorry, are you okay?" he whispered tenderly.
He put his hands on the small of my back to pull me close, and kissed my forehead.
"Mommy? Mommy there's a movie with pretty dragons!"
I smiled and wiped my eyes.
I definitely didn't want to let those assholes ruin # her day. So I took a deep breath, and went to face the world again, for better or for worse, with Anthony behind me.
"That sounds like a great one, baby," I said to my little cutie.
"You wanna watch it?" she asked hopefully.
"Of course!"
"You come, too," she ordered Anthony, and dragged him over to the brightly colored candy display.
Surprisingly, nobody wanted to see any of the grown up movies. They may have thier differences, but this clan definitely sticks together.
The movie was really cute, Daisy had a great time. This was only her second movie ever. I don't think she really remembered the first.
I couldn't remember the last one I'd seen in the theater, but I was sure it must have been with Randy. Before Daisy was born we used to go to the movies all the time, not so much after. Back in the days where he was actually nice to me, most of the time, it was where we used to go to make out.
I still had hope for him though. Even though Randy hadn't loved me enough to change his ways, maybe someday he'd be able to do it for Daisy.
It was nice that we practically have the theater to ourselves, since it was a kids movie that let out later there weren't very many people in our theater.
"What else did you get today?" A.J. whispered into my ear as the animated baby dragons were frolicking in a stream.
"A bunch of jeans, some t shirts, couple of nicer shirts. Even a dress, a few...other things."
I almost mentioned the underwear. I sure didn't want to say anything like that in front of his family. He hadn't seen me in my underwear (yet), and I didn't think I was ready for him to. Even though we slept in the same bed, we hadn't done anything more than kiss. I don't know if he was being a gentleman, or just shy. But I knew I liked just kissing Anthony better than the best sex I ever had with Randy. That really isn't saying much though. I was pretty sure that when the time came, sex with Anthony would actually be enjoyable. Maybe it would even be fun.
"I'm excited to see everything you got," he said, giving my knee a squeeze.
And I knew he really was.
I ended up buying enough clothes that I wouldn't have to do any laundry for weeks. As much as I loved my new jeans, I was a little iffy about all the jeweled designs on the back pockets. I mean, they looked nice, I just wasn't sure I wanted to draw that much attention to my butt!
After the movie let out we all piled into our cars. Daisy asked for Bella and Alice to ride with us, so they got in Anthony's truck. I was glad that she'd gotten to like them so much these past few days. I hoped that we would be around this family for a very long time.
We were driving along the woods that surrounded the parking lot when Alice suddenly spoke from her seat, right in front of mine.
"Pull over," she said with such authority that Anthony did it right away.
"Everybody," she added.
I twisted around to look as the cars behind us containing the rest of Anthony's family did the same thing.
Alice started talking very fast, too fast for me to be able to understand what she was saying.
Before I even saw Anthony get out of the car, he was pulling Daisy and I out of the back seat.
"Get away from them!" Xandra hissed at him, following us into the woods.
"You cannot panic, you need to put them down," Bella said, calmly but quickly walking toward us.
A lot of things seemed to happen in just an instant. Alice was still talking, then Anthony was growling and practically on top of me. Then Rose was, then Xandra was. They were moving so fast, there was yelling coming from all sides. The only voice I could hear was Daisy's.
"Mommy!"
She sounded farther away then she had been a second ago.
The next thing I knew, I was on my back with Anthony crouching on top of me. Xanda grabbed him by the hips and threw him off of me. I watched, horrified, as he went flying though the air. He went wolf just before he hit the tree. He yelped in pain, but still landed on his feet. As he snarled and headed for Xandra, I felt somebody grab me from behind. I closed my eyes and screamed as I was pulled away from the two fighting wolves so fast it made my stomach drop.
"It's okay, it's just me," Nessie said quickly.
"What the hell is going on?" I screamed.
I couldn't tell if Xandra was chasing Anthony, or running with him, but they were almost out of sight now.
"Where's Daisy?" I cried, but Nessie was on her phone now. Once again, talking too fast for me to understand.
I had no idea what was happening, and my two favorite people were gone.
A/N: If I wasn't about to post another chapter right now, that would have been my most evil cliffy ever, and I just couldn't do it to you, not even for a week!
