Esme gently petted Mike and Bella’s hair as they slept. Carlisle was looking out of the window as the sun set slowly. Jasper was playing with Alice’s hair making the pixie like vampire purr. Mike giggled out in his sleep making Edward smile.

“He reminds me of the baby that I lost” Esme whispered.

“Well he is going to part of our family and be the youngest member since he is a few months younger than Bella. He can be your baby” Rosalie replied.

“Hmm……they are both my kids no matter what anyone says. I am a proud mama” Esme smiled as she sat in a chair.

Bella shifted in her sleep and whimpered before curling up and falling back into a deeper sleep. Mike shivered and clenched his hands up into balls.

“Edward is he having a nightmare again?” Alice asked.

“Yeah, he keeps having the same dream about red eyes” Edward answered.

Emmett was playing on the game system with the volume muted against Rose. Jasper felt his phone vibrate making him frown. Pulling out his cell the vampire answered in a hushed voice.

“Hello Peter. Everything is fine here, same as always. Really?......Well since you are coming in you know the rules, you can’t hunt in town and we will be having two humans staying with us that are under our protection. Alright see you and your mate soon” Jasper sighed as he hung up.

“Peter and Charlotte are coming in for a visit. They understand not to hunt in town and promise to only hunt animals with us” Jasper whispered.

“It will be nice to see them again” Alice smiled as she hugged Jasper.

Alice pulled back from the stone body and gasped as he eyes glazed over. Edward growled as he saw the vision. Jasper held onto the female as she grabbed a piece of paper and started to draw many faces. Taking a red pen she colored in the eyes with red.

“Newborns……are coming” the pixie vampire panted out.

“When?” Carlisle demanded.

“Soon, they keep changing course but within the next two weeks they will be here” Alice whispered as the vision ended.

“Damn! This puts the town in jeopardy” Esme cursed making Carlisle blink.

“We have no choice but to try and drive the newborn vampires away” Jasper sighed as he rubbed Alice’s temples.

Mike groaned awake and heard newborn vampires. His green eyes widened as his nightmares flashed before his eyes making him pale. Edward heard Mike’s heartbeat quicken and looked over at the bed and saw him awake. Emmett followed his gazed and cussed under his breath.

“Mike……” Edward whispered.

Panting, the blond held his head in his hands as Bella opened her brown eyes. She sat up and knew something was wrong.

“Mike…what’s wrong” she asked softly so not to startle the teen.

“Cullens……vampires……?” he whispered.

“Mike we are different than most families. We are vampire but not ones that feed on human blood. We have adopted a peaceful lifestyle where we do not have to depend on human blood but instead we depend on animal blood” Carlisle explained.

“Not……red eyed monsters?” the teen whimpered.

“No, we would never hurt humans if we can help it. You are in safe hands with us” Alice replied.

Bella wrapped comforting arms around the teen as Mike absorbed all of the information. He remained calm but was still holding his head. Finally, the teen looked up into the eyes of the vampire family.

“This is your secret right?” he asked.

“It is” Edward nodded.

“You won’t hurt me? I can trust you? Ok……I won’t tell your secret” the blond said as he laid his hands in his lap.

Edward sighed in relief and walked closer to the teen. Bella relaxed her arms around Mike and laid her head against his shoulder. Esme smiled and rubbed the teen’s back.

“Does…do newborns have red eyes” Mike whimpered.

“Newborns and vampires that feed on humans” Jasper replied.

Mike paled at the news and started to shake violently. Bella felt cold arms wrap around her to hold Mike. Esme hummed softly to calm the shaking teen.

“I keep having nightmares with these things after me. They always have red eyes and are always screaming at me, begging for my blood. Now I know what those things are” the blond cried out.

“Mike calm down, I will not let you get hurt by the newborns. You are safe” Edward said soothingly as he held the teen close to his body.

Mike hid his face in the vampire’s chest and for the first time felt how cold his skin is. Gasping at the cold, the blond touched Ed’s uncovered arms.

“Edward……are all vampires this cold?” the teen whispered.

“Yes, it is because our bodies do not require heat to live, we are dead in a way. We have no heartbeats and it only take a small amount of venom to immobilize a human. A bite could lead to the human changing into a newborn” Edward explained.

“I am going to have to wear sweaters around you” Mike joked.

“Yeah tell me about it” Bella grinned.

Edward growled as his family laughed at him and as Mike teased him. Carlisle even joined in the laughter.

“Yep, I am going to have to get hand warmers, blankets and some more sweaters” Mike smiled as he nuzzled on the vampire.

“What am I going to do with you?” Edward sighed.

“Love me, care for me, and most of all be there for me” the teen answered.

“I can do that” the bronze haired teen smiled as he kissed the top of Mike’s head.

Bella pulled out her cell phone and dialed up her father. After a few minutes the brunette replaced her phone back in her pocket before grabbed up a blanket and wrapping up in it. Mike relaxed in Edward’s arms.

“Edward……can I use your phone to call my parents” Mike whispered.

“Of course” the vampire replied as he handed over his silver phone.

Mike slowly dialed the numbers to his home phone. Edward didn’t remove his arms from around the teen’s body as Mike got through to his parents.

“Hey mom……is there any way that you can get out of town for a few weeks? Oh she is…I’m sorry about that mom. Yeah you and dad go visit her, I will be fine. Send her my love and I love you two as well” Mike said as he hung up.

“My parents are going out of town, my aunt is close to giving birth and is alone. They said they might now be back for a month since she is giving birth prematurely” the blond sighed.

“You can stay with us” Carlisle offered.

“I would like that” Mike purred as Edward rubs his shoulders.

“Good you get to meet friends of the family, they have red eyes but they are not evil” Esme said happily.

“Then it is settled, I feel confident enough for you to be released from the hospital tonight since you have progressed so well. I have a fully equipped medical room at our home that in case you need the medical attention you will have it” the doctor replied.

Alice cheered out along with Bella as Mike laughed. Carlisle found all of the paperwork that he needed and signed for Mike to be released that night. Rose, Jasper and Emmett packed all of the things that had brought back up. Edward brought out some of his clothes for Mike to get dressed in.

“Do you need help?” Edward asked.

“Yeah if you don’t mind?” Mike blushed.

“Not at all, let’s see if you can walk” Edward smiled as he helped the teen to his feet.

Mike held onto Edward for support but found that he could walk with only a small amount of lightheadedness. The vampire led the teen into the bathroom and helped him change into the clothes.

“Thank you Edward, now I don’t have any unneeded breezes” Mike blushed.

“I’m glad, are you ready to come home?” the vampire purred.

“Home sounds really nice” the blond grinned as he gave Edward a kiss on the cheek.

Edward helped the teen back into the room where his family and Bella were waiting.

“Mike you are going to ride with Edward and Bella” Carlisle announced.

“Alright” Mike nodded.

Everyone left the room and loaded up into their cars. Edward turned on the heat and took off to his house. Mike watched the trees and lights fly by.

“You have to get use to vampire driving, they loooove to go very fast” Bella squeaked out.

“I like it” Mike laughed as Edward grinned.

“Ohh!! We should go camping after you get stronger and healed up and after the newborns are safely away from the town” Bella gasped.

Edward nodded as he pulled up into the driveway of his home. Carlisle and the others were right behind Edward as he parked.

“Welcome home Mike” Edward whispered to the teen.

Bella climbed out of the car as Edward helped Mike out. Carlisle raced Esme up the door and beat her by an inch. Emmett carried Rose in on his shoulder making the blond female growl. Alice danced up the door with Jasper carrying in everything that had brought back from the hospital.

“Edward when do you…ummm…have to hunt?” Mike asked.

“I am going tonight after you and Bella eat” the vampire answered.

“Please be safe” the teen whimpered as he was led inside of the large home.

Bella was already in the kitchen helping Esme cook. Carlisle was seting up his spare room with all of the medical supplies he had. Emmett was pulling blankets and pillows down into the living room. Jasper stayed close to Alice as she kept having visions of the newborns.
