After the long ride to the Breed's mansion, Lissa took Freyanna’s hand and showed her to her guest room on the third floor. The room had cream colored walls with hardwood detail that matched the floor; a large room rug in cream, crimson, deep green and accented with gold; a large chest of drawers and a king-size four pollster bed covered in a deep green fluffy comforter, littered with throw pillows matching the colors in the rug, and featuring thick green curtains over creamy sheers and gold tiebacks. There were three doors in the room; one leading to the hall they had entered through, a second leading into a large walk-in closet, and a third leading into a private bath. The bath was tiled along its floor and the walls in various shades of cream marble. The counter, sink, Jacuzzi tub, and shower were deep green marble. Even the toilet was green. Noting Freyanna’s slightly confused expression, Lissa showed her how the gold knobs magically called forth hot and cold water, how the commode worked after explaining how to use said appliance and how and why tissue paper was used, then how to dispense soap, and finally where to drop the used towels and clothes. Lissa left Freyanna there to ‘freshen up’ and went in search of a gown for Freyanna to change into since there was no way Celestia’s, Beth’s, or her own clothes would fit the girl. She returned to hear the shower running and knocked on the door to tell Freyanna she had laid out a fresh gown for her and promised to have more clothes delivered soon. Fifteen minutes later a freshly showered, damp-haired Freyanna stepped out of the room in the borrowed blue gown and nearly ran into the Breed named Fang. Tall, lean, and bald the Breed wore khaki Dockers and a crimson polo. “I would be honored to escort you to the dining hall, Princess,” he said with a courtly bow. Freyanna knew he was really a guard Lion had posted to keep her from wandering around and lead her to where he could question her, but smiled graciously and said, “Please call me Freyanna. I hate being referred to as royalty. I would be delighted to have you escort me to the dining hall.” She was shocked that he stiffened when she took his arm. She was certainly warmer for his nearness. Most males seamed to appreciate her touch. She decided to think about it later.Fang escorted Freyanna into an opulent dining room. All the Breeds stood around, some with drinks, others with arms around women. The only woman she had not met was a lovely red-head wearing a navy sweater and cream colored slacks. This she assumed was Beth and hopefully the gorgeous, dark-haired Breed sporting a leopard or panther on his armband and wearing a tight olive green tee shirt, camouflage pants, and combat boots was the Breed Hijinks. If not, this male would soon lose the arm draped over Beth’s shoulders. In the far right corner, a lone Breed stood watching the room. He wore a dark-green, nearly-black shirt with a pair of black dress pants. The scowl on his scarred face should have been frightening, but Freyanna found him fascinating and sexy in a rough, warrior sort of way.
Cougar and Talon must have sensed her arrival a second before Wolf cleared his throat to signal everyone. Both Breeds’ gazes burned with the flame of lust as they watched her glide in on Fang’s arm. The grinding of molars, flushed faces, and narrowed eyes told Freyanna both men were fighting a wave of jealous rage. Lion reached out to greet her, but Lissa beat him and gave Freyanna a welcoming hug. Lion chuckled and said, “Everyone, this is Princess Freyanna of the Tuatha déDanann. She will be our guest for a while.” Pointing out the other household members Leo knew Freyanna had not met, he continued as he playfully slugged Hijinks’ shoulder, “This ne’r-do-well is Hijinks. The lovely lady beside him, currently starring daggers at me is Hijinks’ beautiful and talented mate, Beth and the ‘lone wolf’ hiding in the corner is Wolf, “he said through chuckles at his own humor. Freyanna curtsied lightly to the group and said, “I am most pleased to meet all of you and want to thank you for your gracious welcome and the beautiful room youappointed me. Please call me Freyanna.” The next few minutes were filled with small-talk and good-natured ribbing about Freyanna’s first introduction to “the horseless carriage” and how Talon had had to explain the magic that is the automobile of today even before Freyanna climbed into the GMC. “I had never seen an automobile before and I find it fascinating how humans have overcome their lack of magic by harnessing their intelligence and imagination to create such fantastical creations,” Freyanna explained. Talon stood to her left and Cougar to her right. They constantly reached over and touched her arms, her hand, or her hair. Leo and Tig exchanged looks of amusement tempered with concern. When Patience, a Patience chicken/woman Breed entered with other staff in tow to set the table, several diners held their breath. Freyanna didn’t act the slightest bit different. This time Cougar performed the introduction saying, “Patience, this is Freyanna, our Fae guest. Freyanna, this is Patience, residence commander of all domestic affairs, and general coordinator of all non-fighting life at Breed Manor, and best cook and friend any of us could ask for.” Patience shook her head at Cougar and smiled at Freyanna. She said, “Cougar just wants to make sure there are plenty of blueberry muffins for breakfast. It is good to meet you. Let me know if there is anything you need at all. Oh, I should ask, what do you prefer for breakfast?” Freyanna gave Patience an impromptu hug and said, “I am glad to meet the female who makes this mansion such a warm home and who obviously inspires great devotion from her subjects. To answer your question, I usually eat fruits with cream, any kind of grain or pastries. I usually drink a lovely mint and honey tea, but love trying new foods. Today, Talon bought me a sausage McGriddle with hash rounds and a coffee with cream and sugar. Celestia insisted he get me a parfait as well. It was all yummy!” Patience scowled at Talon, “Junk food, young man when am I going to break you of that artery hardening habit?” Turning back to Freyanna and smiling she added, “Although McDonalds is an excellent eating franchise, I think you will find my breakfasts far better.” With that she winked at Freyanna, and then left the room, pretending to be in a huff. Fang affectionately pounded a hand on Talon’s shoulder and said, “Ten bucks says she forgets to make you any peanut butter and chocolate chip waffles tomorrow.” Talon said with mock seriousness, “I believe I’ll have to suffer. There will be no way to get back in her good favor…unless, anyone has any chocolate I can give her (bribe her with).” Everyone shook their heads leading Talon to let out a long sigh.A few minutes later Patience called, “Dinner is served. Try to behave like civilized gentlemen. I’m sure the ladies would appreciate the effort and keeping all their fingers.” She then stalked out again.
Leo took the head of the table with Lissa to his left. Cougar took his right and held the seat next to him for Freyanna to sit. Talon took the seat to her other side with an empty seat next to that then Fang. Wolf took the opposite end. Bronx set next to Lissa and had Tig to her left. Beth set next across from the empty seat and Hijinks set next to her. Just as the last person sat, the empty seat was taken by Evan, who was introduced to Freyanna as Beth’s fellow Lunarian Guard. It was then explained that Beth was his boss, not his prisoner. What followed was a feast. There was roast beef, whole roasted chickens, pork tenderloin, broiled whole salmon with a lemon-butter sauce, and buffalo steaks. There were sautéed mixed vegetables; stuffed mushrooms; honey-glazed carrots; roasted potatoes, onions, beans and carrots. The breads were something called macaroni and cheese which Freyanna found delicious, fresh yeast rolls still warm from the oven, and a wild rice with butter. Freyanna counted four different cheeses; soft brie, mild cheddar, a delicate Swiss and marvelous parmesan. All this was served with your choice of wine, soda, water, juice, milk, or other beverage. Freyanna tried a small bit of each dish and was stuffed. Just when she thought the meal was ended, Patience and her crew cleared the table and set out deserts. She served fresh fruit, pound cake, fudge brownies, chocolate cake with chocolate icing, whipped cream and chocolate sauce. It all looked delicious. Lissa took brownies, whipped cream, and fudge sauce to create what she called a hot-fudge sundae. Celestia took pound cake with fruit and cream for shortcake. Bronx and Beth both went for the chocolate cake, laughing at who would get the biggest piece, Hijinks won. Wolf chose a brownie and set back to watch Fang take pound cake, brownie, fruit, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce who said with a grin, “I would never be so rude as to discriminate between the excellent choices here.” Wolf laughed and teased, “You forgot the chocolate cake.” Fang’s response was to smile and say, “Oh, no. I didn’t forget. I just didn’t want to be a hog.” That caused everyone to laugh. Freyanna fixed herself a hot-fudge cake like Lissa’s. Cougar opted for shortcake and Talon chose a large slice of chocolate cake. Both Cougar and Talon kept slipping her bites of their deserts, until she had to say no more, she was absolutely stuffed. With the meal over, Bronx told Tig who had abstained from desert that he might have to carry her to Leo’s office. Slowly, with much grunting and groaning while waddling down the hall, everyone trudged to Leo’s office and plopped into chairs. Wolf joked that he felt a nap coming on. Several heads nodded. Hijinks pretended he had already nodded off until Beth hit him in the back of the head. What followed was a run-down of all that had happened since Beth’s rescue and the loss of Tig and Talon. The Breeds had been kept busy killing soul thieves. So much so, that they had been unable to track Misery or Rasputin II, the High-Alchemist who was in league with Shatan. After the briefing everyone retired for a siesta or the night, except Wolf who took first watch. The couples disappeared quickly and Fang escorted Freyanna back to her room. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
