It had to be in the middle of the afternoon when his cell started to ring. Marissa moved in his arms and pushed at him with her feet, “Butch, hellren, you’re cellphone” she murmured sleepily.
Butch groaned, he didn’t want to move, he sore and tired from fighting and loving his female. The cell cut off, voice mail turning on; it wasn’t a minute later that his cell started ringing again.
He rolled onto his back and grabbed the vibrating thing on his bedside, he looked at the screen. It was an unknown number. He sat up and cleared his voice before answering.
“Hello?”
“Butch….Thank God!” Dina’s voice was frightened and out of breath. Butch was instantly awake; Dina would only call him if something happened to Madline.
“Dina? What’s wrong?” his voice came out waving, worried and fear settled into his gut. Marissa was instantly at his side, her ocean blue eyes now wide awake.
“Madline went into premature labor again,” Dina answer, Butch’s breath left him as he gasped.
“Doctors decided that it was time to get Lianne before she killed Madline. Madline lost a lot of blood before she stable enough to go into the OR. Madline is in recovery right now, back in her room sleeping. And well…Lianne…listen,” Dina murmured before he heard a rustle.
In the background heard a soft agitated voice an infant that was either uncomfortable or needed a diaper change, “Say hello to your Daddy Lianne,” Dina’s voice murmured softly.
He didn’t hear anything; he held his breath afraid to breath, “Lianne,” he murmured softly, didn’t want to scare the tiny thing on the other side.
“Ohhh…My God, Butch, say her name again! She smiled and opened her eyes at the sound of your voice!” Dina spoke excitedly.
“Hey there little girl, Lianne I love you,” Butch murmured, he smiled as Dina cooed and told him that his daughter just gave off the brightest toothless grin she ever saw on a newborn.
“I just wanted to let you know that your daughter made it okay, Butch. Madline told me that you live upstate and only come down on the evenings after work. Maddy should be awake by the time you come in,” Dina spoke softly, Butch told her that he’ll be as soon as he can which meant that he’ll be as soon as the sun starts to go down.
Unlike Beth he wasn’t completely sun resistant, but he could take the evening and dawn sun.
As soon as they hung up, Butch grabbed Marissa and kissed her. She laughed and congratulated him on becoming a Father. He rolled off her threw on a pair of sweats before charging out the door and banging on V’s.
“Wake up, my man! You just became an Uncle the second time around!” Butch hollered threw the door as V’s voice cursed at him for waking him up.
As he expected, the door was ripped open a second later and V had a dumbfound look on his face.
“Dina just called Madline gave birth to your Godchild,” Butch told him. V had him in a hug a second later, even though the Brother hadn’t been completely happy about him becoming a Father with a human female, he couldn’t resist the euphoric joy that Butch was putting out.
“Let’s wake the others up,” V told him, and Butch was ready to tell the world that he was now a Father.

Madline was completely worn, her naturally olive skin was nearly white and she had tiny bit of problem with her breathing but she couldn’t stop the feeling of being complete. Looking down at the slight of a little scrunched up face, eyes closed and still a tad bit wrinkly. She had bent her legs Indiana style and her little daughter was in the middle of her folded legs.
She was dressed in a Red Soxs body that her Father had bought. She had a lot of heartburn during her pregnancy and Dina had told her that Lianne was going to have lots of hair and she did. Dark brown hair covered her daughters head in thick waves.
“She has your lips but everything else is Butch,” Dina murmured as she sat next to her best friend bed side looking at her niece.
“I noticed,” Madline murmured with a smile, her finger coming to rub at her daughter’s forehead trailing over her eyebrows, ears, fat cheeks, lips and double chin.
“She’s cubby, a little Ewok with all the hair,” Dina chuckled and Madline joined in.
“I wonder what color eyes she’ll have,” Madline murmured.
“I hope Butch’s hazel. She’ll be a knock out,” Dina answered.
Thinking about Butch, Madline saw that it was close to sunset so Butch should be arriving soon. And as on cue the door knocked and heavy steps walked in. Madeline titled her to the side and smiled as Butch hesitated to come in.
“Come in, Brian. She’s here with me,” Madline spoke.
Butch came a bouquet of orchids, white roses and lilies in his right hand, nearly bigger that himself and a handful of balloons in the other. He came over to her Dina stood up to grab the flowers from his hand and balloons. Butch took the chance to lean over and kiss Madline.
“Thank you,” he murmured, he looked down between her legs and smiled.
“She’s beautiful,” he murmured in awe of his daughter.
“Yeah we did a hellva job,” Madline murmured, she saw Butch’s hesitation; she picked up her daughter and held her out to her Father. Butch had a look of panic, but Madline shot him a look, “She’s not going to break if you have her in your arms,” she placed her daughter into Butch’s arms as he crossed his arms.
Madline looked at his face as he became entranced. She smiled and leaned back into her bed. Dina looked at her watch and told her that was going to leave. She kissed Madline goodbye, Lianne too and congratulated Butch before she left. Madline watched as Butch walked around the room, murmuring to his daughter, his finger touching her before sitting down on the empty seat that Dina had been sitting in.
“I can’t believe this….,” He was lost for words.
Madline nodded, “Its pretty insane isn’t it, my eggs and your wonder sperm produced that tiny little thing,” she laughed as Butch shot her look.
“I was going to say I can’t believe you carried such a beautiful thing. You’re wonderful, Madline,” he spoke. Madline choked a little and felt tears spring into her eyes. Butch was such a man but he could say the darnest things that made you melt.
There was a knock on the door and the nurse came in. She announced that it was Lianne’s bedtime and she was taking the child to put her to sleep. She stared a moment at transfixed Butch and smiled.
“Do you want to get her ready? I know that she needs a diaper change and her bottle,” she asked him. Butch looked at Madline, she smiled, “Go head. I can’t breast fed for another couple of days due to the medication. Go get your daughter ready for bed,” she nodded to the door.
Butch nodded and got up slowly and followed the nurse out of the room.
Madline sighed and sunk into her bed; she gripped the side and lowered it. She was awfully tired, the medication was still wearing her out and she hadn’t wanted to sleep when first opened her eyes since she wanted to see and hold Lianne.
She must have dozed off since she felt a big hand gently brushing over her face and neck when she came back around. She opened it to find Butch looking at her; she turned her head to kiss his hand.
“I…” he started but shook his head and leaned down, capturing her lips in a gentle kiss.
“I’m so tired” Madline murmured, Butch kissed her again, “Then sleep, I’ll stay here,” he spoke to her.
Madline smiled and closed her eyes again.
When she woke up again and felt a lot better than the last time she had been awake. She found herself dressed in different clothing than she had fallen asleep in.
“Madline…,” Dina’s soft voice made her nearly jump.
She looked at her best friend, “Jesus, woman you scared the shit out of me,” she grabbed her heart.
“Where’s Butch?” she immediately asked.
Dina looked at her with wide eyes and sighed, “Bitch! You scared the shit out of me and Butch! You’ve been sleeping for the last three days!” the blond waved a finger in her face.
“What?” Madline was lost.
“Your doctor said that you slipped in a mini coma. They think it was from all the meds and the sleep you haven’t been able to get while staying here. You were out three days straight. The only way I knew that you were only sleeping was that your ass was snoring like fuck,” Dina chuckled.
Madline swatted at her best friend and then moved to get out of the bed. Dina was at her side but Madline shook her head. She felt stable; “I want to go see Lianne,” she said and headed to her door.
She ripped it opened. There was a panic inside of her stomach that she couldn’t explain. She wanted to see her daughter to see if she was still there. She watched into the nursery that held at least twenty sleeping or crying infants. She instantly picked out a snoozing Lianne. She let out a breath of air and walked over to her daughter.
“Maddy!” one of the nurses that had became close to her over the weeks she spent her. The nurse was instantly at her side, asking her all sorts of questions, but Madeline didn’t want any of that ; she wanted her daughter. She told the nurse that she was okay and that she was going take Lianne in her room. Dina must have said something behind her back since the nurse closed her mouth.
Madline wheeled Lianne’s bed to her room and parked the plastic crib near her bed.
“Madline I know what you’re thinking and you know that Butch would never do that to you,” Dina spoke her after a few moments.
Madline looked at her best friend wanting to protest that her panic hadn’t been about Butch but she knew that it was fruitful to be lying towards her best friend.
“I’m horrible I know but…” she started to say ‘I know things about Butch that you don’t’ but stopped herself since Dina would push for answers and Madline might spill that Butch was a Vampire and Lianne now a half breed. She kept quiet and sighed. She hated the feeling that Butch could pop in here anytime, take her baby and leave. Madeline didn’t know where he lived and all she had from him is his cell phone number.
Dina and her talked for a bit before a vile stink filled the room that had them both gagging and laughing. Madline got up from her bed, “Damn, I didn’t know that a tiny little thing could stink that much. Dina open a window,” she laughed and pointed to the window.
Madline walked out of the room and to the nurses station, “I need a clean up,” she giggled as one of the nurses came closer and then covered her nose, “Phew that little girl knows how to let one go.”
Madline was shown to the station and was allowed to change her daughter.
“Maddy?” she turned around and saw Butch standing there; he was dressed in slacks, shirt and blazer. He looked like he hadn’t slept in days. Up all day worrying about her probably.
Now she felt like an ass for thinking like she had before.
“Hey Brian,” she smiled at him and he walked in, and kissed her.
She heard a few nurses sigh. They tore apart as Lianne made an angry noise for being left alone half naked on the changing table. Madline finished up with Lianne and Butch held her as they walked back to her room. Madline watched them interact and absolutely knew that Lianne was going to be a big Daddy’s girl. The way she already grinned for Father as he made faces at her. She held open the door of her, Dina greeted Butch but the male was lost in the eyes of his daughter.
“She’s so going to be a Daddy’s girl,” Dina smiled and then yawned. Madline told her to get home and sleep for a day. Dina complied and left without a fight.
Madline watched Butch coo at his daughter for a half hour before she complained that she wanted some cuddle some too before the nurses came in to take their daughter back to her crib in the newborn station. Butch didn’t hand her over, but moved to her bed and squeezed himself into the thing with Lianne in the crease that their touching thighs made.
“I never thought I could love someone so instantly,” Madline spoke after a while, “This tiny little person makes me believe in ‘love at first sight’. Butch, I still can’t believe that she was made inside of me, grew inside of me, its unreal.”
“I’m the same way, Madline, days ago this person didn’t exist and now, I’ll fight the world by myself to protect her,” he answered, he threw a massive arm around Madline’s shoulders and pulled her into his side. They watched Lianne fall asleep, her cute little face making faces as she dreamt about something, and it wasn’t long before the nurse came in told that she was taking Lianne back into her crib in the baby station for the night.
Madline expected for Butch to get off the bed after Lianne left but he stayed, pulling her now into his body so that she as lying half on top of him. She loved the smell of him; she buried her nose into the side of his neck as he watched TV while wrapping his arms around him. Damn, if she wasn’t bleeding and didn’t have the stitches from her C-Section, she would be all over him right now.
“What are you thinking?” Butch asked, his right hand rubbing her back.
“Nothing” she answered with a grin.
“Did I ever tell you that I can smell very good?” Butch’s voice was teasing, “Right now, you’re not given off the ‘Nothing’ smell.”
Madline laughed and pulled away, “Then stop looking so damn sexy. You made a woman wanna get freaky.”
Butch laughed, “Don’t worry, woman. I’ll get you in bed soon.”
“Not until six weeks,” Madeline winked.
They talked about nothing for a while, but Madline was well aware that there was a big elephant in the room. They hadn’t discussed what will happen after Lianne was born nor how their relationship will work out. It wasn’t like she could move in with him and Marissa; she had friends and couldn’t drop off the grid. She wanted to wait until she got home for that, it was going to be one of the big discussions that they were going to have.
