Izayoi stood at the top of the stairs.
“Miroku! You not leave house!” Izayoi yelled. Miroku opened the front door and stormed out of the house slamming the door behind him. The young man raced down the street. He shifted into his fox form and raced faster.
Chris walked down the sidewalk towards Guilty Pleasures. He sighed dreading talking to his father. He entered the club, and made his way to the back. Damian was in Jean-Claude’s office. Chris sighed and sat down in one of the chairs.
“Dad save the speech. I know what you’re going to say.” Chris said. Damian sighed and looked at his son.
“You know how I feel about same sex partners…however I can not make you change, I don’t want you to change who you are.” Damian said.
“Dad I like women too. As I told Kit I think it’s mostly the fact that I trust Miroku even if he does get me into trouble.”
“You don’t look happy.”
“Well part of it was because I was caught by Izayoi. He’s not happy. But the other part is Izayoi won’t let me see Miroku for awhile, not even in school I would bet.”
“Well you must remember the culture Miroku comes from Christopher.”
“I know father.” Chris said fingering the chained ring around his neck. “I should have known better. I should have controlled myself more.”
Damian ran a hand through his long blood red hair.
“You are young mistakes are to be expected. I’m sure Izayoi will forgive you in time.”
“Dad you don’t understand. Miroku’s sister Keri was in the house. She has chickenpox, and if something happened…”
“I see.”
“I screwed up big time dad. I’m going to go home. I have a test in two days I need to study for, and then there’s the concert next week that I need to practice for.”
Damian smiled at his son.
“Okay. You’re growing up fast Chris.”
“What can I say? I have a good role model. There are times when I wish mom was still around. You never told me what happened to her.”
Damian winced and sat down.
“Your mother was killed fifteen years ago, when you were five. The vampire council was in town. Belle the founder of my line wanted to raise you to be an assassin for her since you’re half vampire. You have all of our strengths, but none of our weaknesses. If Belle couldn’t have you she was going to kill you. Your mother wasn’t going to give you up. She handed you over to Izayoi who got you away from the Circus. The vampire that Belle sent was going to try to take you. Your mother killed him, and in the process she was injured. The injuries were too extensive. There was nothing I or anyone else could do. She died in my arms. You wear the ring that I gave her a long time ago.”
“Dad I’m sorry.”
“It happened a long time ago. She would have been proud of you Christopher. You have her eyes.”
Chris stood up and hugged his father. He then left the club, and walked down the street. He had stopped living at the Circus two years ago and had his own apartment, which wasn’t that far from Guilty Pleasures.
Chris heard a scream and he raced towards the sound. He saw a vampire sinking his fangs into a woman.
