~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Here you go, miss..." You smiled at the elderly woman sitting in the old, uncomfortable chair. You had placed the cup of tea down onto the table, retreating your hands and turning to grab some sugar. While placing the little bag on her cup, she returned your smile.
"Thanks darling, that's really nice of you." Another honest smile graced your lips as you shook your head, telling the woman it was nothing before walking towards your cart. You pushed the small, rolling table over towards the kitchen, placing it into a corner before you started to clean the cups.
You had been working here for at least two years... Well, working wasn't the right word. As the kind person you are, you were involved in a little charity work. Of course at first it wasn't your cup of tea... Sitting with old people, listening to their stories...
But after you were forced by your school to work there for a week, you started to fall in love with the wrinkly humans shoveling around here. And so, you stayed, for one more week. Which eventually turned to a month... and then a year... And look at you now.
You're still here, bringing those poor old souls a cup of tea once in a while... And also giving them the company they deserve and desire. Some of them are really kind, though others are a little bit cranky. You've been around for so incredibly long that they even ask you to help them with the chores sometimes.
This nursing home always has a shortage of staff, but most of the time they'll make it. However when one of the nurses are ill, they sometimes ask you. Not to wash the patients or anything, just helping them with their stockings or doing some of the dishes for them.
You didn't mind, you actually enjoyed it.
As you had stacked the cups into the counter you turned around, walking through the door and into the hallway. You greeted all the familiar faces, from the nurses to the patients, everyone knew who you were. As you walked up the stairs you saw someone coming down, and you didn't need to think twice of who it was.
"Ah, (Y/N)... You're here again? How are you?" You stopped in your tracks, looking up the stairs and staring straight into two bright blue eyes of the doctor. Nathanial had just finished his doctor's degree, finally being able to call himself a real doctor.
The manager of this home was quite impressed by his determination and passion for elderly people; however she was also a bit worried because he didn't have much experience yet. But he made that up by constantly caring for every single one of his patients.
It was quite rare to see someone his age being so driven to help the old people in a nursing home, because most young doctors want action. Which is mostly given in the hospital. But not Nathanial, he did what he truly loved. Maybe that's what has gotten you so attracted to him.
That and the fact that he's extremely handsome.
"Oh... Hi Nath! Yeah, they can't really miss me can they, haha." You didn't want to embarrass yourself, but you acted like a fool around this guy. Though he probably didn't notice or anything... But still.
"That's for sure. How's school going?" You gave a nervous smile as you kept staring at him. Thanks to the fact that he was still a few steps higher up the stairs than you were, it seemed as if he was towering over you. As if he could grab you any minute.
Oh you'd wish.
"School is fine, I suppose. We can't all be a miracle worker now, can we?" Nathanial laughed at this comment, a seductive smile spreading itself over his mouth as he looked down at you. Something flickered in his eyes and you began to blush at the thought.
"Of course not... But hey I wanted to ask you something." Your eyes widened a little as you kept your gaze locked onto his. You crossed your arms, trying to look calm and cool but inwardly your heart was racing. What was he going to ask you?
"I'm going to a congress about illegal organ traffic this Saturday... Would you like to join me? I think I'll make a better impression if I have a beautiful woman standing next to me." Your face heated up within a second and you were as red as a tomato.
"O-of course! I mean I'd love to." You were blabbering, almost unable to speak because of the suddenness. Out of all the beautiful nurses working here, he was asking you?! And to top it all he was calling you beautiful?! You wanted to do a victory dance inwardly, but decided to just listen to him.
"Great! I'll pick you up at 7 if that's okay? Oh and it's a bit of a fancy congress, so I think you'll need to wear a fancy dress. If you don't have one I could go shopping with you for one?" Was he trying to get you to pass out or was he really serious?!
Of course you'd love to spend any time with him. You really wanted to know this guy better and if you would be together like that... You could show him how great of a person you actually could be! You didn't know what to say, completely lost for words.
You actually wanted to say yes, but then remembered that your mother had an amazingly beautiful dress still lying in her closet from a few years ago. You were sure it would fit and it would spare you a lot of money for a dress which you wouldn't wear a second time.
"Thank you, but I do have a dress... And 7 sounds great!" You smiled an honest smile, still staring at the guy happily. He was actually blushing a little bit too you noticed, trying to say something before someone interrupted by calling his name.
His head shot to the side and up the stairs, looking to see whomever it was that ruined your precious moment together. A nurse came running down quickly, calling his name. She was about to say something but when she saw you she stopped talking.
"Yes Nathanial I... Uh... I need you to come look at Miss Woodstock please... She's has hypertension and angina pectoris..." When she saw Nathanial's flushed expression mixed with your uncomfortable one she raised her eyebrow but soon smiled a slick smile.
"Oh...Lucy. Yeah... I'll go." He turned around and walked back up the stairs. Lucy stared at Nathanial for a while before she turned her eyes on you. Then you saw something clicking in her eyes and she began to giggle, making a hand sign including her mouth you'd rather not repeat.
The nurses were always teasing you and Nathanial, well most of the nurses that is. Some of them were ignoring you out of jealousy because Nathanial seemed to always have time to talk to you. The other nurses however constantly provoked him or you about it.
It was funny sometimes, but mostly embarrassing. Just like now. You hoped she wouldn't say anything to Nathanial regarding you. Ah, whatever... He just asked you out! He fucking asked you out! You saw Lucy running upstairs, probably after the guy.
You couldn't help but to jump slightly out of happiness, ignoring anyone who was looking at you weirdly. These old fellas were used to it by now. You quickly ran upstairs, going to the person you had planned on going to, before Nathanial had caught you off guard.
You turned around a few corners and then knocked three times onto a door. A barely noticeable 'in' was heard and you stepped inside. You closed the door behind you, walking further down the hall and into the living room where an old lady sat.
As soon as she saw you, her usually cranky expression lighted up immediately.
"(Y/N)! It's so good to see you! How have you been?" Meg asked, her dull eyes locked on yours as you sat down next to her. Your hand immediately went over to the small box filled with chocolates. Somehow you were the only person who was allowed to grab them frequently.
"I'm fine, thank you! How are you?" You asked as you put the chocolate to your lips. The taste of cacao mixed with oranges filled your mouth and you had to take a second in order to get yourself back together. Meg only smiled at you before speaking:
"Good to hear... For me it's the same as always... Still waiting for a new kidney..." Meg was an elderly woman around her 70's... However compared to all the other persons living here she was one of the youngest. Both of her kidneys have failed partially, so she needs to go to the hospital for dialysis three times a week.
It really took its toll on the woman. Not only physically but also mentally. It was stressing her out. A cab to the hospital a cab back, never time for anything else because it takes 4 whole hours... You actually felt kind of sad for her. But that's where you come in.
"I'm sorry to hear that, Meg... Still no match for you?" You always came and talked to Meg for a while, just to give her a little company and to act as a vent. She sometimes needed to get things out and you didn't mind at all. Meg was actually kind of sweet.
"Matches enough, yet there are hundred in front of me." She was talking about the list. There are tons of people in this world who need a new organ... And there is only a 10% offer of organs. No wonder people try to buy an organ online... If it's your only escape route...
"But enough about my entire misery dear, how's school going?"
~~
"Come on, (Y/N)! Hurry up; we're going to be fucking late!" Your best friend yelled at you while dragging you out of the school building. Struggling to get out of her grip you nearly growled back at her:
"Let me go (B/F/N)! I can walk on my own." With an offended expression she had let go of our hand. You slowly rubbed your pulse, trying to get the blood flowing as fast as it used to. Your best friend only sighed, placing her hands on her hips as she looked at you.
"You're horrible you know that? You have an awesome date and we have little time to get your fine ass a nice dress." You almost began to blush at her words. Of course you had regretted telling her about the date the second it flew out of your mouth, but it happened.
She wouldn't stop talking about it, as if she was even more nervous than you already were. She wanted to see pictures, wanted to know how old he was and if he was 'worthy' of going out with you... But all together her silliness made your forget about your own unease for a minute.
"I have a dress, you know. My mother has one." You already saw the face of your best friend slowly turning into a frown as she kept looking at you. It would take her three seconds to realize what you had just said and then the bomb would explode.
"Oh my... You're seriously thinking of wearing an old fashioned dress? You got to be kidding me, (Y/N)." A soft sigh parted from your lips as you thought about it. You really did not want to buy a new dress for this date, but maybe your mother's dress was a little too old fashioned...
However you wouldn't wear that dress ever again probably, so why waste your money on it? To impress Nathanial? You liked him... A lot... But going now seemed so pointless. You'd rather gone with Nathanial IF you needed to get a new dress.
"So what's it going to be?!"
~~
You gave a loud sigh as you looked at both dresses lying on your bed. How (B/F/N) could've persuaded you to buy the dress was one thing, but the fact that you were still in two minds over which dress to wear was a second one.
You know you literally promised (B/F/N) to wear the dress you had just bought... But on the other hand, you found your mother's dress just as pretty. Also your mother would be so happy if you would wear it. With a growl you grabbed both of the dresses, standing in front of the mirror and looking at them.
Your new dress has more glamour. It's a little shorter than your mother's dress, but it not only shows the best parts of your body, it nearly fills you with self confidence. Yet your mother's dress screams of elegance, grace and it's at least tight on the parts it needs to be.
You don't have much time to doubt yourself though. Nathanial will be here in an hour and you still had to do your make-up, your hair and every other thing a woman does. You decided to leave those dresses be and focus yourself on what you had to do next.
You were going to look fabulous regardless of what dress you would wear.
~~
"(Y/N)! There is someone at the door for you!" As you were making the last finishing touches on your own masterpiece you decided to look at yourself one more time. You had really done well this time, the make-up, the hair, the shoes... Everything seemed to fit.
"I'm coming!" You yelled back, turning around to see if everything was okay before you gave your reflection a nod. No need to be nervous... He's probably as stressed out as you are by now... Or maybe not. But as long as you have a good time, it'll be fine right?
Ugh, you were blabbering.
You slowly walked over to the door, taking in a deep breath as you opened the wooden portal and walked right through it. You had everything, your mobile phone, your purse... At the top of the stairs you stood still, trying one more time to calm yourself as you nearly flew downstairs.
You saw that the front door was partially closed, only a small slit of light shining through it. You heard two voices and knew already who they belonged to. This made you run even faster to the front door. Your mother had a tendency of spilling all kinds of bloopers you made to your potential partners.
"I'm here!" You nearly yelled as you gave a harsh tug at the front door, immediately gazing at your mother before turning your attention to Nathanial. You couldn't keep yourself from blushing a you saw what he looked like. The suit he was wearing made him seem even more muscled than he already was and even though he obviously tried to comb his hair, a few loose strands framed his face, making the portrait even prettier than it already was.
"You truly look amazing." He said as you saw his eyes examining every inch of you, making you blush even more. Your mother only smiled, wrapping her arm around your shoulder and asking:
"Do you have everything you need? Your phone, you-" You cut her off immediately, not wanting her to embarrassed you in front of your date.
"I'm fine mom! Shall we go, Nath?" Nathanial only nodded, waving goodbye to your mother before walking to his expensive car. He opened the portal of the passenger seat for you, helping you getting in with that long dress before he shut the door and then walked over to the driver's seat.
Once you were on the road time flew by.
~~
"We're here, (Y/N)." You immediately looked out of the small car window, staring at the gigantic building and the people entering it. You couldn't help but stare in amazement and above all surprise. You didn't know congresses like this would be held at something so fancy.
Nathanial parked the car behind a few other ones, stepping outside while you were still struck with excitement. He walked around the vehicle and opened the door for you, causing you to be sucked back into reality and what was standing in front of you.
"You're coming?" You saw that a sly grin had graced his lips and a rose red blush crept onto your cheeks. You took his hand, mumbling a low 'thank you' before he took your arm and guided you up the long, stone stairs and inside the amazingly beautiful building.
"Wow, it's beautiful." You whispered. Nathanial only looked at you, smiling before his gaze returned to the thousands of guest sitting there. The hall you were in was not only extremely large and busy, but it also screamed of decadency.
Right in front of you were at least hundreds of folding chairs, all pointing towards the big, white screen at the end of the room. To the sides were tons of tables filled with people, all trying to get a drink before the whole show would start.
This building and all the people in it gave you a vibe as if you were going to a chic dance of a king, well everything except for the stairs. You were so incredibly happy that you had put on your mother's dress instead of the other one, because, even though the other would get you a lot more attention, you felt more comfortable in this one.
"Let's go find a seat before they're all taken." Nathanial spoke into your ear as he guided you through the hordes of people and towards the front of the chairs, where a few people were sitting already. He then placed you down onto one seat before asking:
"Would you like something to drink?" You thought about if for a second, wondering if you were thirsty or not.
"A glass of water please." You had no idea whatever these people would drink, but water was always on the safe side. At least you didn't order yogi or something. Nathanial nodded and then left, leaving you there to sit alone and wait for him. You just hoped it would start soon because somehow...
You felt uncomfortable, but you had no idea what was the cause of this. Something unknown? You had no idea; maybe it was because you had never done something like this before... Ah oh well, it'll pass.
~~
You were smiling while holding the glass of wine in your hand, just watching Nathanial and the older guy talking. When the whole presentation was over you had gotten the time to talk to other doctors or pioneers regarding illegal human organ traffic.
Well, if you were involved with it that is.
Nathanial seemed to be having the time of his life, talking to all sorts of people and gathering information. For you it was different. Not that you were complaining or anything. You would introduce yourself, smile and then pose as the loving young leaf of Nathanial.
You didn't mind that at all though, but with all these people in one hall... It was getting pretty damn hot. You noticed that there already were windows open and even the doors to the balconies stood wide open... Yet you needed to cool off or you would pass out.
Trying to find a place to cool off you decided to go towards the balcony, seeing that it was the only way to get outside without getting lost in the hordes of people. You grabbed Nathanial by his arm, still smiling at the guy sweetly as you quickly tried to pry yourself in between their conversation.
"I need some fresh air; I'll be over there on that balcony. I'll be right back, okay?" You quickly said, eyes apologizing for interrupting their conversation. Nathanial only nodded, saying a 'sure' before turning back to the guy.
You gave a sigh of relief as you walked straight towards freedom, avoiding the waiters with their trays filled with expensive wines and other stuff. Once on the balcony you didn't know how fast you had to sniff up the fresh air, feeling the cool breeze caressing your skin.
The balcony was completely empty, no person to be seen. But you weren't entirely sure since the lights coming from the field further ahead blinded one side of the balcony completely, making it seem as if it was clad in darkness. The only light shined upon that part was coming from inside, from another opened door.
You decided to just place your elbows on the banister, looking at the stars, the moon... The flowers... It wasn't all that peaceful since you could still hear loud talking, but quiet enough for you. Although you were flattered that Nathanial had asked you for this kind of thing, you weren't really sure if you liked it.
Don't get it wrong, you weren't an anti-social person, but so many people talking about things you had no idea about made you feel useless. Though you were glad Nathanial was enjoying himself, maybe the next date would be a little more focused on you and him together?
You just hope so.
Although you couldn't deny that the topic did spark some interest in you. Especially since you had seen it in the nursing home quite a lot... And above all regarding Meg. How great would it be if she would get a new kidney in time? She deserved it, that was for sure.
"What is such a lovely lady doing out here all alone?" You immediately turned around, frightened of the sudden voice. At first you were searching around frantically, hoping the find the source. Eventually you saw a figure standing on the darker side of the balcony.
"My apologies, I didn't mean to startle you." His tone which was first filled with something you couldn't place was now replaced with a gentler and kinder one. You gave a soft sigh of relief as you felt the tension slowly ebbing away, your hand still placed on your heart.
"No problem, I wasn't paying attention, so I hadn't heard you coming." You smiled, not sure if the guy would see you or not. You tried to take a better look at him, but you only saw his silhouette, standing there in a somewhat relaxed position.
"Ah, yes I get that a lot. I'm a little too quiet while walking, giving my... patients nearly heart attacks, or they don't even notice me at all." You knew this guy was trying to crack a joke but somehow you knew there was something wrong. It didn't feel right.
You had no need to get suspicious of this guy; he was only being nice to you. But your gut feeling told you that you needed to go and get Nathanial... Ah, of course. It was probably because of the shadowy thing. You wanted to see people while talking to them.
"I guess it's safe to say you're a doctor then?" You wanted to continue on the situation, learn a little bit more before jumping straight to conclusions. You heard him chuckle a little at this remark. A deep, long chuckle which had sent chills down your spine. Was it you or did it suddenly become incredibly cold?
"I guess you can call it that way. I'm mostly focusing myself on research about human organs, specifically the kidneys. They're such complicated organs, it interests me." You thought of it for a while. This guy was probably a researcher... They were known to be a little strange.
"What's your name, if I may ask?" This might come in handy if you were ever to Google this guy, or if Nathanial had ever met him. Yes he was a little bit strange but he also seemed rather polite. Maybe he was some sort of high class researcher?
"My name is E.J, but you may call me Jack." E.J? You had guessed he would answer with something like: 'my name is doctor doctor master master Watson' but no, simply E.J. Or either this guy was being weird or this guy was just being modest.
"E.J?" You asked. The J stands for Jack, you were sure of... Then what does the E stands for? Another first name? As if he could read your thoughts he spoke:
"E is more of a nickname or second name, but I shall not bore you with such things. What are you doing at this congress?" He spoke as if he knew that you didn't belong here, as if he knew that you had nothing to do with organs and was just some tool to show off.
"Eh... I'm here with someone, just went to get some fresh air." He made you feel really uncomfortable for a reason you had no idea of. Just who was this guy? You began to get more and more focused on seeing his face rather than just talking to him.
"Is that so?" You didn't respond, only taking a few steps closer to the darker side of the balcony, eyes still focused on his frame. He didn't move, he didn't talk, he only stood there, watching you probably. With each step you took his silhouette became more detailed.
However when you were almost nearly close enough to see his face you heard your name being called:
"(Y/N)? You're here?" You abruptly turned around, staring at the doorway until you saw the familiar face of Nathanial popping up. You gave a soft sigh of relief before you answered:
"Yeah, I'm here." You smiled at him, walking a little closer to absorb his warmth. You were actually quite cold right now, which was pretty weird since you went out here because of the heat.
"What are you doing all the way over there? You weren't following little white rabbits towards deep holes now, were you?" You gave a loud chuckle at this, shaking your head and then staring straight into his eyes.
"No I was talking to-" You wanted to finish your sentence, your arm raised into the air and finger pointing at the exact spot where E.J. had just been standing... The only exception was that now he was gone, completely vanished from the balcony without a trace.
"Who?" Nathanial asked as he too was searching for anyone. You felt as if you were struck by lightning, still staring at the empty spot with curiosity. This couldn't be! He had just been standing there a few seconds ago; he couldn't have vanished into thin air. Had he really just left you simply because someone was calling your name?
Or did he have to go?
"Oh... He's gone." You actually felt kind of offended; he literally just walked out on you while you and he were still in a conversation. You gave a loud huff as you shook your head. You surely couldn't have imagined it, could you?
"He probably already left, that's kind of rude." Again a chuckle escaped your throat by hearing this. Somehow Nathanial managed to say whatever you were thinking. Thank the lord he believed you and didn't think of you as some crazy hallucinating girl.
"Ah, don't worry about it. Doctors are dicks, you know." He grabbed you by your arm, his hand entangling in your and you couldn't help but to blush. He turned to you and then looked back inside:
"Shall we go back?"
~~
You were lying on your bed, the dress still on and completely being caught in your own mind. Tonight had been a blast. Aside from the parts where Nathanial constantly had to talk with all those important people, you two had an amazing time.
He is funny, kind, caring... You couldn't help but to blush, thinking about him and how lovely this evening had been. He had complimented you over and over again and your self esteem seemed to shoot out of the roof thanks to that.
When he had brought you home the two of you were shifting uncomfortably, staring at the ground and not really knowing what to say. You knew what was supposed to come though and you were more than ready for it... If your lovely father didn't just burst out of the door and began embarrassing you in front of Nathanial.
You had no idea how fast you had to thank Nathanial, trying to shake your dad's hands off of your shoulders as he kept blabbering about all kinds of things. Eventually you just went inside, nearly scolding your dad for interrupting.
You didn't know if he was really that obvious or if he purposely tried to keep you apart.
Tomorrow you would be going back to Meg again, probably seeing Nathanial too... IF he was there then... Oh you'd hoped, and you really hoped there would be another date too.
But for now just sleep. Sleep and secretly dream of another date with the guy you liked.
~~
"I'm not stubborn, I'm merely truthful!" You heard Meg yelling at the phone, the lit cigarette still clenched tightly into her old hand as she was breathing loudly. You could only roll your eyes, shaking your head while listening to her bickering.
She was on the phone with her doctor, yet it wasn't going that well. She refused doing dialyses every two days instead of 4 times a week, which was actually necessary. However her way of making clear she wasn't going with it at all is a bit on the rough side.
"Well, yeah, we indeed shall speak about this!" And with that she hung up the phone, slamming the poor head with such force that it had startled you. She huffed, taking a long and deep pull of her cigarette before blowing it out in your face.
"I don't think smoking will be good for your kidneys." You said, nearly smiling and preparing for the next burst of anger towards you. She was a heavy smoker and countless of people have tried getting her off of it but she continues, secret or not she'll never stop smoking.
"If those anal heads wouldn't be bothering me that much then I wouldn't have to smoke!" She yelled, grumbling something under her breath while looking out of the window. You sighed averting your eyes from her frame before standing up.
She wasn't enjoyable in this state.
"I'll be going now Meg, see you tomorrow." Meg gave a 'humpf' before mumbling something like: 'see you tomorrow too'. You turned on your heel and walked out of the small apartment and right into the corridor. You turned your head towards a window, staring straight into the jet black night.
You had no idea whether Nathanial was coming today, probably not considering it was already late. You didn't even dare to ask any of the nurses, they would only tease you about it. You decided to just go home; you would be coming here a lot and surely would come across Nathanial one day.
You walked down the stairs, already preparing to push the button in order to open the door when someone called out your name:
"Oh, (Y/N)! I'm so glad you're here... Someone's ill and we have a problem!" Your gaze shifted towards the nurse standing a few feet away from you, her eyes stood focused and a little bit worried. You raised your eyebrows, wondering what she was going to ask you.
"Since you've already covered some shifts... Would you mind helping us with bringing some of the clients to bed? Only the ones who are unable to walk by themselves. I'll talk with Cassidy about it." You couldn't help but to smile at this.
You had helped the nurses several times, but never really on the evening shifts. Of course, even though you're a good person, doing it all for nothing while the nurses do get paid is a little too much, luckily Cassidy is great and above all kind manager, she won't hesitate to give you somewhat of payment.
"No, I don't mind." You saw the nurse giving a loud sigh of relief as she nodded at you, thanking you with the bottom of her heart before passing you a note. When you unfolded it you saw that there stood several names on there.
"They're the names of the clients you're able to help, thanks again (Y/N) for doing this, you really helped us out." It actually felt good to be useful, to have that many people being grateful with you. Let's be honest here, you were talking about real people.
Flipping burgers okay, you weren't sure if you'd stay the evening merely for that. But these elderly people were so grateful when you helped them, otherwise they would've waited for hours before getting to bed.
"No problem."
~~
"Sleep tight, Miss Eisenburgh!" You yelled one last time before closing the door behind you, giving a soft sigh and then pulling the small note from your pocket. It was actually fun helping these people to bed, they would be kidding around and be all goofy about it.
You took the pen from your pocket and then crossed yet another name on the list. Just two to go. Sometimes you saw a nurse rushing by, running around with trays of medicine or other stuff. You slowly walked downstairs, still looking at the note and wondering who this woman was.
You had never seen her before, or heard someone talk about her for that matter. Maybe she was just a grumpy old woman who wanted to enjoy her last days of life in peace. You reached for the keys, wondering why you didn't hear the tingling sound anymore.
When your hand touched the fabric of your pants you froze in place. Where are the keys? You searched in your pockets, your hands traveling all over your body in order to find those pieces of metal. Yet nothing was found. You turned around, looking at the ground and hoping you had dropped them somewhere.
It was all empty.
Damnit! You must've left them at misses Eisenburgh's room! You rolled your eyes at your own stupidity. Now you not only had to get a nurse and ask for the keys, but you also had to give Miss Eisenburgh a heart attack because you forgot your keys!
Stupid!
Your head snapped up, hoping that you would find someone near... You didn't even want to think of the fact that you'd probably have to search the whole building for a nurse. You cursed under your breath as you saw no one, stepping towards the stairs and running down to the ground floor.
There, further ahead down in the corridor, you saw someone standing. A loud sigh of relief escaped your mouth as you nearly chuckled at yourself. Looks like luck is indeed on your side today. You smiled, nearly running over towards the nurse as you wanted to call out for her.
However as soon as you got closer and closer you noticed how the attire she wore wasn't the usual... It wasn't the white jacket and pants at all! Instead the figure seemed to be wearing darker clothing... Even covering his or her face with it.
You immediately froze in place, your mind racing with thought of how he or she could've been inside. The doors were closed now, there are no visit hours and even if there would, what kind of dumb person would visit here at this time?
Maybe someone is dead?
No... You would've heard of it, the nurses always tell when someone died...
Then who was this person?!
The figure seemed to just stand there, looking at one door right in front of him or her. You were actually nailed to the ground as you felt the sweat forming onto your body... Your heart was racing and your mind was blurry. What to do?
Right at that moment the figure turned his or her head, looking around. You panicked your body already moving before you even thought of it. You shot into a small room, filled with bandages, medicines and even diapers. Who was this person? Had he or she seen you?!
Calm down (Y/N), you're probably blowing this all out of proportion... You're being weird again... You tried calming your body and mind, hoping that it indeed was a misunderstanding and that this person was merely someone else...
But that's the real problem. There literally could not be someone else except for the nurses... Or maybe a doctor... No technician or anyone like that comes to visit at this hour, unless it's really urgent... And then again a nurse would be with the person at all times because of safety reasons...
Just who the hell was this person? A burglar? It would be stupid of him or her. The night shifts are mostly done by one nurse and also, it's 10 p.m. in the evening! Who breaks in this early while three fucking nurses are running around and people are awake?
Just what the hell is going on?
You swallowed the lump in your throat, calming yourself down and still wondering on who it could be. Just like you said before, a burglar would really be stupid to steal things at this time... Same goes for a murderer who doesn't want to get caught...
Then it's probably a resident... Oh god, that's it! It's just merely a resident! Not all of the elderly people need a walker; some can walk on their own! One of them is probably strolling down the hall, stretching his or her legs before going to bed...
Nothing to worry about!
Right?
Anyway standing here wasn't going to do you any well. You needed to find a nurse and explain the situation, asking who this person could've been without being all stressed about it. A soft sigh escaped your mouth as your hand reached for the doorknob, shakily but determined.
However when you had placed your hand on the doorknob you heard a silent 'click' and then some footsteps. Your eyes widened immediately and you didn't need to think twice of what the 'click' sound could've been:
You were locked inside.
You immediately turned the doorknob, pushing your whole body against the door in a futile attempt to get it to open. But the wooden portal wouldn't budge. Someone had locked the door from the outside. Panic started to rise in your body and you couldn't care about the mysterious person anymore.
Either it was the mysterious person who had locked you in here then he or she had no reason to get you out, so yelling wouldn't do anything. Or it was a nurse, running around and remembering to lock the door... Or maybe, at last, this door would lock itself after a period of time...
Either way the truth was that you're stuck in here, afraid and lonely.
"No! No! No! I'm locked in here! Get me out!" You yelled at the top of your lungs, slamming your fists against the door and hoping to attract any attention. You slammed your body against the door, hoping this way to not only get heard, but also trying to break the door down.
Whether it was because of the panic or the constant ramming you began to get out of breath, still yelling at the top of your lungs to get out. But no one came. Eventually you had to stop, breathing heavily and trying to regain some of your lost energy. A deadly silence had spread itself on the ground floor and you stopped your harsh breathing to listen closely:
You heard footsteps, and then more rushed footsteps... Before you heard nothing but silence. You wanted to pound on the door again, attract attention but an unusual feeling told you to stay quiet a few more seconds. You slowly licked your lips, pressing your ear against the door and wondering where the footsteps went. Your mind told you to bang the door, make someone aware that you were in here.
Your heart told you to stay put, because you could feel the thickening tension. Something was about to happen, something really bad and you didn't like one bit of it.
Suddenly the silence was broken by a loud and deafening scream, a scream for help, a cry of pain and then sounds which came close to a struggling. You heard gasping, coughing and more cries. You were nailed to the ground, frozen in place as you could only listen.
Listen to the horrible sounds spreading through the building. Only your imagination could tell you what was going on and the chills on your spine told you that it wasn't just cuddling. You heard gurgling and then... Right after another sad mumble...
A sickening snap.
Silence once again filled the room; the only sound heart was your racing heartbeat, which would pop out of your chest anytime soon. Your mouth was extremely dry, but you didn't dare to swallow or even breathe, afraid the person might hear you.
It wasn't a resident now, was it?
Shit, shit, shit!
What in the world happened there? It surely didn't sound good! Maybe someone was attacked... Oh god... You needed to help! You needed to get out of here and call the police! Maybe one of the nurses was lying on the ground, drenched in her own crimson blood.
But you were stuck in here.
What were you supposed to do? You had left your mobile phone in the nurses' office! Your hands moved over your body, searching for anything of use. Then it clicked into your head. The pager! You could page the other nurses, press the emergency button!
But... Wouldn't that get them in danger as well? You're in this closet but they're still out there, wandering around while the killer is waiting to strike. What must you do?
Your thoughts were interrupted when you heard yet another loud scream. Alright this was it, you couldn't take it anymore! You wanted to know what was going on! You pressed the emergency button on your pager, hearing the alarm of another pager going off close to you.
And then...
Another...
However you waited in silence and anticipation, hoping that someone would come to you. These pagers are close... Wait a second... There so close you can hear them... Yet no one is coming... Then the most logic explanation would be...
Oh god.
Oh god please no...
You slowly shook your head, still not wanting to believe what you had heard. What is this madness? You clenched your head tightly, shaking it and hoping that this was all just a bad dream, that this wasn't happening at all in reality.
But you knew this was false. Something was happening yet you had no fucking clue as to what it could be! You fell onto your knees, unable to keep the stinging of tears under control as they flowed freely over your cheeks. Why is this happening?
Please let it be over quick.
Please let everyone be okay.
You didn't dare to cry out loud, afraid that the killer or whatever was out there would hear you... But you were so goddamn afraid. You had no grip on this situation, you heard people gurgling, screams and cries outside your door but you couldn't do anything about it.
That was the worst part of this all, the powerless feeling you got. Nothing in this room could help you, and no one outside either. You'd probably be stuck here until one of the residents call 911... If they're not all being murdered right now.
Oh god, please don't think about that.
Suddenly another soft 'click' was heard and your head snapped towards the door. Your eyes widened and the fear doubled as you watched the door in anticipation. What was that? Did someone unlock the door? Is it the killer? Please, don't let it be the killer!
You covered your mouth with your hand, trying to be as quiet as possible. The silence was sneering through the small room; the tension was so thick that it was almost squeezing all the air out of your body. Your eyes were glued to the doorknob, not even blinking once.
Was he or she going to come in? Was the killer finally ready to kill you? You had no idea and to be honest, you didn't even want to know. You didn't want to see death so soon already. Minutes passed by and you still didn't hear a sound, or see the doorknob budge.
Did someone else unlock the door?
When you realized that you were still holding your breath, you slowly released it, sucking in oxygen again and still trying to be as quiet as possible. Your gaze didn't wander off of the small knob, but your raging heartbeat slowly came to a steadier pace.
Was this person trying to lure you out?
You waited for more minutes, even though they felt like hours to you. But no sound was heard. No one came in, no footsteps and above all... No killer. Confusion had spread itself in your mind as you thought about all the possibilities as to why someone would unlock the door but not come in.
You decided to do something brave, swallowing the lump in your throat as you slowly crawled on hands and knees towards the door. Each step you took nearly caused you a heart attack, afraid that the door would suddenly pop open and reveal the dark clothed monster.
But you were fine, the door was still closed. Biting your lip in order not to gasp, scream or make any other sound you neared the door, slowly placing one of your hands against the cold wood and moving your head closer. Once your ear was pressed against the portal you held your breath.
Nothing.
No breathing, no footsteps, no shifting... Just literally no sound was heard. You had no idea what was going on, but that was nothing new. Your mind was filling itself with worry, with fear. This person didn't unlock the door for no reason, something was going on...
Yet you weren't sure if staying in this room was a right decision either. It could also be that the killer had unlocked the door, wanting to kill you before his or her attention wandered elsewhere, to a person who needed to be dealt with right away...
Taking in a heavy breath you focused all of your attention on the door, your shaking hand slowly moving over towards the doorknob. You closed your eyes almost out of a reflex, feeling the cold metal of the doorknob against your skin.
Alright, (Y/N), this is it. Just do it, don't think about it, just do it.
Just do it.
You twisted the doorknob slightly, your heart ramming against your chest, almost to the point it would break your ribcage and shoot out. Giving a slight hiss as if you were pulling off a bandage you twisted the doorknob until it refused to move.
You then opened the door, preparing yourself for the worst as you immediately peeked outside.
Nothing.
There was no jumpscare, no person close to you... You were alone. You took a good look around, hoping to find no one. You gave a loud sigh of relief once the hallway was still completely empty, no person to be seen. There was, however, something else which had caught your eye.
On the floor, right about a few meters away from you, was one big puddle of blood. This puddle of blood was leading towards a room at the back of the hallway. Your fears and worries became legit now as you nearly couldn't take your eyes off of the liquid.
No one could survive that massive blood loss.
You swallowed slowly, still gazing at the crimson body fluid before gathering yourself and your mind together. You had been lucky; there was no one around... For now. This wasn't a time to dilly dally, a time to doubt yourself and be plagued with hesitation.
You needed to be fast.
Your eyes traveled towards the room where the blood led. How much you wanted to help whoever was laying there, you knew it would be a stupid move to make. Only a few meters away from you were the stairs, leading straight to the nurses' office where several phones were.
You needed to ring the police. You had to ring the police.
For the sake of the nurses, the residents... For the sake of the person dying in the other room. It could all be a trap, but you had to try it. At your right was the door towards the outside world... But that door looked more like a portal leading to hell.
Several bloody handprints rested against the glass, as if someone was desperately trying to get out of the door. The door which only opened at night with a key. A key you didn't have. So there was only one option left:
Get to the phone.
With a heavy heart you sprinted towards the stairs quickly, once there trying to be as fast as possible but also as quiet as possible.
You didn't want anyone to hear you.
You nearly flew up the stairs, the sweat already forming because of the fear, the anxiety filling your veins... But you ignored it. Once you were upstairs you tip-toed over to the corner. Pressing your back against the cold wall before you took a quick glance around.
No one.
Right in front of you was the desk, together with your phone and the phone of the nursery home. You only needed to take a few steps, but these steps were crucial. You couldn't afford to get caught now. You then again ran over towards the small desk, not even daring to look around once more.
Your hand shot over towards the small phone, quickly grabbing the horn and because of the stress you needed a second to think of what number you had to dial. 911! Your finger touched the small pads with the speed of light, hearing the familiar beeping tone.
However it was then you felt a slight pinch at your back. Immediately your vision became blurry and before you even knew it, you were falling to the ground and landing on it with a harsh smack. You saw the world spinning before your eyes, unsure of what was going on with your body.
You squeezed your eyes shut several times, gasping loudly and trying to at least see something. When you could focus more clearly you snapped your head towards the desk, both curious but above all afraid of the rustling noise you heard over there.
Your eyes widened with fear once you saw the familiar figure standing right at the spot you had just been standing, the phone in his/her right hand and the other pressed onto the desk... Or onto something else. You couldn't really see clearly, but you knew that you hadn't been able to call in time.
You tried your best to move, wanting to shot up and find another way out before this creep could get to you... Sadly it was impossible. Somehow your body didn't comply. Your hands, arms and head were totally fine... But you couldn't move your legs.
Panic started to take over as you desperately tried to move at least your little toe... But it was useless; you literally could not move them one inch. Glancing up at the person who was still busy with something you quickly turned yourself on your stomach.
You slowly crawled away, having this faint and unrealistic hope of escaping this person without even being able to walk yet you knew it would be futile. You felt the ground shaving against the flesh on your legs, yet you could not move them even an inch.
As soon as you had started crawling you felt two hands wrap themselves around your ankles, forcefully dragging you back to your place. You let out a loud and afraid yell, digging your fingernails into the carpet even deeper but it had no effect.
"What a pleasant surprise to see you again, (Y/N)." Either your mind was still being weird thanks to the harsh smack or you were damn sure that you recognized this voice. This low, dangerous yet somehow calm an alluring voice.
"You'll have to wait a little longer, love. I'm almost done with these files." By now you knew it was a male, but that wasn't the thing on which you were focusing. What did he mean? And above all how in the world did he know your name?
The voice sounded familiar... Then it must be someone you know! But who in their right mind would do this all? What is wrong with your legs?! What is he going to do to you?!
"Now be a good girl and stay in place. I'm not in the mood for those games." You gave a soft groan as you felt the two hands retreating themselves from your ankles. You had no idea how fast you had to go against his words, how fast you had to crawl away again.
This time however you suddenly felt a huge pressure onto your back and you gave a yell of displease. It felt as if your organs were squeezed to thin pancakes and you had to bite your tongue in order not to scream loudly of the constant increasing pressure.
"Did I stutter? I told you to stay in place, didn't I?" You felt the pressure being released and you let out a breath of relief. However this relief was short lived once you felt his hands tugging at your legs one more time, dragging you back to where you started.
"Well, if you can't wait anymore why not get started?" You then felt two hands wrap themselves under your armpits, grabbing your shoulder and in one swift movement you were being thrown into the air and right unto the small desk.
Before you could even realize what was going on you felt the guy pulling at your pants roughly. You immediately went into the offense, being able to move your arms and torso; you nearly lunged at the person. Your hand had grabbed his shirt or whatever it was and for the first time you could take a good look at the guy.
All the blood had retreated itself from your face as you could only watch in horror. His man was wearing a hoody, covering his head... However his face was covered by a blue mask... A blue mask with pitch black eye sockets, as if the person literally had no eyes.
That couldn't be... Someone like that doesn't exist!
You were so in shock you hadn't noticed that he already ripped the pants off of your body, leaving you only in your undergarments. You screamed at him:
"No!" He however immediately covered your mouth with his hands, preventing you from making any noise or even breathing through your mouth.
"Easy, (Y/N)... We don't want anyone to interrupt now, do we?" His other hand went over to his mask, grabbing the lower part of it before he moved it upwards. You saw his grin, his fearful, dangerous and above all disgusting grin.
His teeth were pointy but the thing which really made your stomach turn was the fact that there was blood dripping from his mouth, flesh stuck in between his pointy teeth. You could only focus on that, wondering what in the world he had done.
Oh god, no!
"I wish we could do this on different circumstances... But I couldn't resist your constant beauty invading my line of thoughts." He smirked even wider as he got closer to you. His breath was felt in your neck as you could only stare. You heard him sniff loudly.
"That and the fact that this house is an easy target for my... hunger." You swallowed the lump in your throat when he spoke of his 'hunger'. You were too afraid to even think of what he meant by that.
"Ever tried human flesh?" He murmured the last part as his hand roamed over your legs, giving you the chills and goosebumps. You could only stare at the ceiling, feeling his warm breath lingering over the skin in your neck as he kept teasing every nerve with his soft touch.
You only wanted it to be over.
His hand then went under your shirt, over your stomach and then even further down. You tensed all of your muscles once he was around your sacred area, slipping his hand underneath the fabric to feel your warmth. You pleaded in his hand as he was rubbing up and down over your sensitive spot.
"Don't get too excited, my love, you need to save up for the Grand finale." You then gave a strangled gasps as you felt his teeth digging themselves in your flesh while he fingers continued to rub. You couldn't help but to let the tears flow from the corners of your eyes.
You didn't want this; you didn't want this at all!
He didn't seem fazed by your sadness as he retreated back and then, with his both hands, grabbed your panties. He pulled them off completely, you feeling the cold against your sacred area. He could only smirk, grabbing your legs and placing them on his hips.
"I'm usually not this generous with my victims; would you like to know how I work?" Both of his hands roamed over your belly then to the side of your stomach. His face came closer to yours and when he was only a few inches away, he stopped moving.
"I grab my scalpel, I walk over them quietly and then-" You felt his hands squeezing your sides roughly, almost to the point you actually felt the scalpel digging in your flesh, as if he was about to cut out all of your organs.
"Then I harvest!"
You gave aloud gasp as his hands moved over to your bum, literally throwing it up until your legs got stuck on his shoulders. He smirked at your frightened expression, nearly laughing at you for fearing him.
"Now now, (Y/N), don't look so scared. When we first met you acted so boldly." When we first met? What the hell was he talking about?! You were damn sure that you would remember this creep if you'd ever met him! That was for certain.
"Should I give you a little hint? Does the name, E.J. ring a bell?" It felt as if your heart was struck by lightning. It was him... It was fucking him! The guy you had a bad feeling about! The guy who was acting weird and strange! The guy who you'd thought just needed a chance...
Was actually a sick, twisted cannibal.
You tried to move, get out of here as far as you could... But your legs still didn't listen to your mind. You didn't want this! You just didn't want to be abused, killed and then turned into a human stew!
"Let's quit the chit chat and get to the good part." He murmured lowly as his hand went over to your core. You nearly jumped up out of surprise, grabbing his hand and hoping to get it away from you. Sadly it didn't work, his other hand grabbed your and while squeezing your bones to pulp he growled lowly:
"You know I've been gently on you with the sedation, but if you continue on this way I'll make sure you can't move anything yet do feel everything I'll do to you all night long, understood?" You gave a soft gasp of relief once he let go of your hand.
Without even having the time to answer he moved away and already pulled down his own pants. Before you could even look at his shaft, he had lifted your backside up again, placing your legs onto his hips while he leaned in closer.
You could feel his breath on your skin, but the thing which really made you cringe was the foul smell coming from his mouth. You had placed your hands against his chest, trying some way to create some distance but it wouldn't work.
"Don't be scared; love, only the first part will hurt extremely." You felt his member poking at your sacred area, gliding over the wet and smooth muscles before he found the entrance to your core. He pushed the tip in a little, immediately gaining a displeased groan from you.
"I know I shouldn't do this now, but I can't help myself. Your exquisite beauty is hypnotizing..." His head moved over towards your neck, giving a soft kiss on it before he whispered huskily:
"It's like you're begging me to fuck you senseless." When he bit your neck you gave a loud gasp, again trying to push him away but his body on top of yours was way too heavy. He smirked at your failed attempt as he slowly pulled the tip and then pushed it in again.
Even if it was only the tip, you weren't even remotely wet for him. You had to bite your lip in order to cry even more, in order to keep quiet as the pain was spreading through your body. You couldn't even think of him being all the way inside of you and what pain that would cause.
He then slowly and steadily pushed himself fully inside of you without a warning, letting out a groan as he murmured on about how tight you were. You let out an uncomfortable moan, feeling your tight walls being forcefully spread apart.
He didn't give you any time to adjust before he pulled back and rammed inside of you. This time you let out a loud scream. He didn't even stop for a single second and continued on his ruthless assaults on your body. With each trust it felt as if razors were entering your body, yet he didn't seem to care about your screams.
His teeth dug themselves into the flesh on your neck, giving your senses another thing to worry about. Your head was constantly banging against the wall with heavy force, your body rocking with the rhythms of his trust.
"Please! S-Stop!" You yelled as he continued on, his grunts overpowering the sound of skin slapping roughly against each other. After a while of pounding the pain seemed to get less, however it wasn't entirely gone. He speeded up again, ramming inside of you harder and harder.
You were sure he was hitting your cervix entrance.
He kept pounding into your small body; the feeling of your small inside clenching around his member was pure bliss. You began to breathe heavily, feeling more and more tired as the attack continued on. You wanted it to be over as soon as possible.
His hands moved over to your shoulders, grabbing them tightly in order to get even deeper than he already was. You gave another cry of pain, getting dizzy from the constant shaking until you felt him pushing himself as deep as he could one more time...
Before he grunted loudly.
He gave a few sloppy thrust, throwing his head back. You were completely exhausted, breathing heavily and trying to dull away the incredible pain at your core and inside of your head. You just hoped that after all this he would leave you alone... But you weren't counting on it.
"Did you catch your breath already, (Y/N)? Because I'm not done with you yet." Your eyes widened as you wanted to shot up and get away, but as soon as he had finished his sentence... You felt him pulling at your bum again, lifting your legs onto his shoulders this time.
"You've been so tight on me at the front... But I want to know how your backside feels." You became sick to your stomach by hearing this, screaming a loud 'NO!' but he didn't even give you a glance.
You felt his member pressing against your anus, his tip tickling the sensitive muscle. You felt him pushing forward but since the opening was so small his member slid over your skin towards the front side. He growled in impatience and displease.
"Relax for me, (Y/N)." You didn't listen. You didn't want him to enter you like that. He had different plans. He spit onto his hands, coating his dick with his own saliva before trying again.
This time he did succeed.
You felt the small muscle being stretched to its limit as you let out a horrifying and painful scream, immediately trying to shot up only to be pushed back roughly by his hands. It was then he moved, pushing himself as deep inside of you as he could before pulling out and slamming back in.
It all felt rusty, rusty and way too painful. There was no lube, nothing that helped getting his dick more smoothly inside of you. That and the fact that this hole wasn't meant for things like did. Your screams were the only thing heard as he kept pounding into you.
You had clenched each and every muscle in your body, feeling as if you were about to take a huge dump onto his member. It literally felt as if you were pooping backwards in a strange and unnatural manner.
"E.J... Please... Stop!" You cried out, each trust made you jolt up, made you nearly jump in the air out of pain. You couldn't relax; you couldn't ease the pain by moving. You could on watch as this man assaulted yet another hole. One not made for this.
"I won't stop (Y/N), if you feel so much pain then scream my name." He grunted in between his moans. His pace didn't slow down once as kept on ramming into your small behind. After a while you felt him speeding up again, but only because his hips were ramming against your behind.
A metal like smell filled the room and you felt some liquid dripping down your behind and onto the desk. You knew it was blood, your own blood. However you didn't feel anything down there anymore. It was completely numb.
You opened your mouth to say something again, to plead to the masked killer again, but he silenced your pleads with his mouth, kissing you forcefully while the taste of rotten flesh entered your mouth. You tried your best not to gag, but it was either that or the constant pounding into your tight hole.
He was speeding up even more, grunting in your mouth as his pointy teeth dug themselves into the flesh of your tongue. Your mouth filled itself with blood and before you even knew it, he pulled away, giving a few last grunts before he pushed himself as deep as he could.
You knew he was releasing himself inside of you.
But you couldn't care. You were in so much pain; you were so done with this all... He might as well kill you immediately. You felt him pulling out; your muscle immediately trying to regain control over the unusual widening but you could feel it being stretched to its limit.
You were breathing heavily, giving E.J. no glance as you heard him pulling up his pants. You couldn't help your curiosity as you peeked over your own body towards his. Then he turned, his mask facing you before you saw a smirk spreading across his lips.
You swallowed your own blood, afraid of what was to come as he walked closer. He then moved even closer, bending down before dangerously whispering:
"As much as I love to continue on, I cannot." You were shocked beyond belief to hear those words coming from his mouth. His hand then dangerously closed itself around your throat, squeezing tightly before he spoke again:
"However do not think you've seen the last of me. I will come back for you (Y/N)... And then, it'll be even worse than your darkest nightmares could imagine." Then, without even so much as one single sound, you felt the hand retreating from your neck.
You gasped for air, afraid of what he was going to do next... But it never came... When you wanted to look around you saw nothing. Nothing but pitch blackness... You could not wrap your mind around everything that has just happened. After all he had done, he just left you? He kept you alive and then disappeared within seconds?!
What was this madness?!
You took one quick glance around, hoping that he really stayed true to his word... That he had disappeared... Yet you saw no one around. Trying to sit up with only your arms proved to be difficult, but you managed anyway. Ignoring the stinging and nearly unbearable pain in your backside. You then searched around for the one thing you desired so much...
The phone.
You saw it lying almost a few centimeters away from you. You instantly grabbed it, dialing the one number you wanted to dial so badly quickly. Your breathing became heavier and heavier with each second you had to wait, each second you heard the dialing tone.
And then, finally after all that had happened, after all the horrible and gruesome things you had seen and felt this night... You heard a soft, soothing and comfortable voice on the other end of the line:
"911, what's your emergency?"
~~
"And that is why we need more organ donors. Thank you." A very loud clapping was heard and even some yells when you gave a slight bow. You smiled at the gigantic crowd standing a few meters away from you, while you were looking over them.
You felt a hand placed onto your shoulder and you turned your head slightly to look at Nathanial. Together you gave the crowd one more nod, both pleases with how well the presentation was going. You really got through to these people.
It had been several months after the attack on the nursery home, and after the assault on you. You were still damaged and above all afraid. Each night the nightmare greeted you and this time it didn't end as well as it had ended the real time.
You had to be grateful to be alive, but that didn't mean you couldn't still fear of what could've been. A few residents have been killed during that night, others were, like you, locked into their rooms, silently praying that someone was going to rescue them.
You had been escorted out of the building as soon as the police had arrived, being the only witness who had survived. The worst part was that you had to go through all of this again, relive the whole ordeal because the police needed every single detail.
It turned out this 'killer' had been on the FBI's list for several years. The true reason why he was always on a killing spree was unclear, yet they all had the same suspicions and coming together with what you had seen, that didn't sound too weird to you.
He was probably an organ trader, someone who'll do anything to get an organ and sell it to people who desperately need one. It's a business which earns tons of money and considering the fact he was visiting a conference about organ traffic...
However there was something which didn't add up to the picture. You saw his bloody teeth; you smelled the awful scent of organs and flesh coming from his mouth... When you told the police that you were almost sure he was a cannibal they weren't so keen on believing it.
They never denied it but they'd rather keep it to their own suspicions. That brings you to the place where you are now. This whole experience had been extremely rough to you, yet it could be used for something bigger, for something beautiful.
You could make people aware!
If it was true what the police told you then you could use this story to change the law, to get people to understand the importance of organ donation. If there were enough organs on the market then no one would be willing to pay for an organ.
If no one would be willing to pay then E.J. wouldn't be willing to kill for it. This is where you come in. With a little help of Nathanial, whom you've grown closer and closer to, you gave a presentation on several conferences, telling your story.
Somehow, if it happened so close to you, people understand the importance better. You knew you couldn't have done this without the help of Nathanial. He pulled you through this mess, through the thousands of appointments with the police and the psychiatrist.
You were still a little too damaged for a relationship, but you knew that given a few more months, you would definitely see yourself next to his side. He wouldn't mind either, that you were sure of.
You placed your hand onto Nathanial's and then gave him a heartwarming smile. All by all it turned out quite well for you. You wished you hadn't gone through it all, but shitty things happen for a reason right?
You turned around to walk off of the stage, glancing back at the crowd one more time before smiling again. Next up would be another presentation, but you knew most people came because of you. Your eyes shifted towards the back of the room, where you saw some people standing up.
You smiled when you saw two people switch a seat but when you saw someone getting up but not walking away you were struck by an uncomfortable feeling. You squinted your eyes, wondering why you so suddenly felt this strange.
The lights of the stage made it even worse to take a good look but your heart dropped into your shoes when you saw who was standing at the back of the room. Even when you rubbed your eyes they didn't betray you, he was real.
E.J. was at the end of the room, staring at you before he casually walked out of the big, red doors.
