Sometime through the movie Bella fell asleep curled up against Edward. Mike was intently watching Shrek and laughing at the donkey. Alice sang along with the movie making Jasper smile. Emmett compared himself to Shrek while Rosalie was compared to the princess by Edward.

“You should get some sleep Mike” Edward whispered softly to the blond.

“I know but my head itches and it kills me cause I can’t scratch it” the blond whined.

“Where does it itch?” the vampire asked.

“All over” Mike answered before Edward rubbed soothing circles on the bandages.

Nearly purring, the blond haired teen closed his eyes. Esme laid a pillow behind the teen’s head as he started to snore softly. Edward got comfortable with the two next to him and relaxed. Bella clung onto the bronze haired teen as she slept deeply. Mike dreamed of his new vampire family and of the pillow fight they just had making Edward chuckle.

“Is Mike dreaming……” Alice gasped out as her eyes widened.

“Alice what is it?” Jasper asked as he held the smaller female.

“Newborns getting closer to here, maybe one or two days away. They have slowed down but only to feed. Oh god!!!” Alice cried out as she went limp in Jaz’s arms.

“NO!!” Edward snarled as he pulled Bella closer.

“She is going to be changed……” the pixie vampire whimpered as she drew out a man standing over Bella’s body.

Edward studied the picture and locked the image away in his mind for future use before passing it around to his family to look at it. Mike nuzzled on Edward in his sleep and sighed happily. Jasper also studied the picture but didn’t know who the male vampire was. Carlisle and Esme also didn’t know who she was along with Emmett and Rosalie. Once Charlotte had the picture in her hands she gaped out and dropped the picture as if it had burned her.

Peter got up and started pacing while growling under his breath.

“I know who he is. His name is James and he is a tracker and very good at what he does. Peter and I met him a few weeks back and he was hunting down a new prey” Charlotte whispered.

The family nodded as they listened about James, everyone but Alice. Her gold eyes were glazed back over and her body was trembling. Jasper noticed the change in the small female and grabbed her back up into his arms.

“James…leading them in, he has been watching us and knows about Bella and Mike. They are his new fascination and he wants them both” Alice cried out.

Esme held her hands over her mouth to keep in her cries. Edward wrapped his arms tightly around Bella and Mike and refused to let them go. Bella whimpered out before she cried out awake. Mike jumped awake at the cry and looked at Bella with wide green eyes. The brunette haired human sobbed out loudly as the family rushed over to her.

Mike wrapped his arms around the teen and wiped away her tears as she continued to sob. Rosalie found some tissues for the human and set them beside Edward’s thigh. Jasper tried to send out soothing waves but Bella had a barrier around her that prevented him from calming her down.

Edward pulled both of the teens into his lap and gently ran his fingers through Bella’s hair since it had fallen out of her French braid. Suddenly the howl of wolves broke through the house making Mike jump. Rosalie growled at the howls and rushed over to the door. Carlisle, Emmett and Esme rushed out onto the porch to wait for the wolves.

“Bella sweetheart please talk to us, what did you dream of” Jasper asked.

Bella’s sobs turned into small whimpers as she slowly calmed down. Mike kept his arms around the teen and whispered to her that everything was ok and that she was safe. The brunette stared out into space as her tears dried up.

“Please Bella, talk to us” Alice begged.

Bella whimpered but otherwise didn’t respond to any questions that were asked of her. Charlotte paced the floor worriedly as the howls grew stronger. Suddenly a huge russet colored wolf bounded into the room and stopped beside the couch. Mike scream out and tried to get away from the large creature but Edward held him tighter against his hard body. Snarling, the bronze haired vampire never removed his eyes from the wolf.

“Mike relax, this is Jacob Black, Bella’s childhood friend. He isn’t going to hurt you” Alice said softly.

“Jacob as in La Push Jacob?” the blond asked.

“He is the same now calm down and take deep breathes so that Edward can relax as well” Jasper instructed.

Mike nodded as he took deep and calming breathes that relaxed him. Edward felt the teen relax and loosened his hold but he didn’t stop snarling and growling. Jacob whimpered as Bella never looked over to him, instead she stared at the wall blankly. Finally the russet wolf changed back to human.

“Damn Edward what did you do to her?” Jacob blamed.

“I did nothing mutt, before you got here she had a nightmare” Edward snarled back.

Bella whimpered at the snarl and snapped out of trance. She looked over at Jacob and finally landed her gaze on the snarling vampire. Mike whimpered as the snarling turned more animalistic. The brunette wrapped her small arms around the vampire and hugged him as Mike nuzzled on his throat. This made Edward calm down enough to stop snarling at Jacob.

“Look I’m not here for a fight, I came here to tell you about what the pack found while patrolling” Jacob sighed.

“What did they find?” Alice asked.

“Several set of scents that belong to a new group of vampires. They were on the outskirts of town and we are wanting to know if you have any connection with them?” the wolf replied.

“No” Edward growled as he held the two humans closer.

Alice went silent as she looked over her drawings laying in the floor. Bella shivered as she hid her face in Mike’s chest.

“I know who it is…she is part of James’ group that is coming here. I think that she is his mate but I just dreamed of her, Victoria. She killed me in my dream” Bella whimpered.

“You are right, Victoria is James’ mate” Charlotte gasped out.

“She kidnapped me and killed me in front of everyone. That is the worst nightmare that I have ever had” the brunette replied in a shaky voice.

Edward nuzzled on the two teens as he listened to Bella and Mike’s heartbeats. ‘I’m going to have to change them…and soon even though it is going to violate the treaty with the wolves’ the vampire thought. Carlisle came back into the room with the others and sighed.

“Since they are closer than we thought we need to prepare, the rest of the newborns will be here soon” the vampire doctor said softly.

“Charlotte, Esme, Rosalie and Alice should not get involved” Peter replied.

“The hell I won’t! They are coming here to take away my sister and brother and I will not let them!” Rosalie yelled.

“That is why we need you here with Bella and Mike in case we are not able to stop them. They will have a chance to run” Emmett sighed.

Esme set about packing clothes in case if they had to run. Carlisle packed up some medical supplies and placed them into one of the bags full of clothes. Edward sat Mike and Bella on the couch as he took Carlisle aside. Bella laid her head in the blonde’s lap as Mike fixed her hair back into a braid.

“Carlisle…I am going to change them” Edward sighed.

“Son……you don’t see yourself making this out alive do you?” Carlisle gasped.

“Those newborns want them dead, James and Victoria are going to change them. If anyone is going to change them it is going to be me. I will not let them get there filthy hands on them if I can help it. At least this way they will have newborn strength if I am unable to protect them” Edward replied.

“Go talk to them and ask. If they both agree them I will set up the living room with morphine to make the change as painless as possible” the vampire doctor nodded.

Jacob tried to inch closer to the two human teens sitting on the couch. Jasper left the room to make some tea and didn’t hear Rosalie growl at the native teen. Jasper came back into the room and served up the calming tea that he had made to Mike and Bella. Peter and Charlotte put themselves between Jacob and the humans as they watched the wolf.

“Get out of my way leeches” Jacob growled.

“You are not coming near OUR brother and sister” Peter growled back.

“Bella doesn’t belong here with you” the wolf yelled.

“Listen up wolf and listen well. You had better watch your tone around us because I am very protective of these humans. If you have a problem with then change and I will take you on” Charlotte said with a smirk.

Mike reached up and tapped on Peter’s shoulder to get the older vampire’s attention. The black haired male vampire looked down into pleading green eyes and sighed. Slowly Peter pulled Charlotte to sit beside Mike making the blond smile.

“Just let him talk to Bella” Mike pleaded.

“Fine” Charlotte pouted.

Bella reached over and hugged the russet wolf close. Jacob sighed and held the brunette against his large body. Rosalie growled under her breath as Jacob nuzzled the brown hair of Bella’s.

“It is good to see you again Bells” the wolf grinned.

“Hey Jake” Bella sighed happily.

“You should be at home with your dad, not here with leeches” Jake said making a face.

“I have to be here, they are my family. My dad knows that I am here anyway” the brunette replied.

“Why don’t you come stay on the Rez with the pack, we can protect you better” the black haired native pleaded.

“I can’t” the teen whispered as she pulled back from the warm body.

“Hey blondie, you are the surfer boy aren’t you?” Jake grinned before a vicious snarl ripped through the air.

“His name is Mike wolf and I think it is time for you to go back to your alpha, we don’t need you” Peter said harshly.

Mike watched as the native’s face went dark with fury. Edward rushed into the room as Jake lunged at Peter screaming. Grabbing the older teen by the neck, the vampire pulled his outside and away from Bella and Mike. Mike grabbed onto Peter as the red eyed vampire tried to follow after Jake.

“Peter please…leave him alone” the blond begged.

Peter sat back down and handed Mike his cup of tea. The blond sipped on it while he looked over Alice’s drawings. Alice and Jasper were outside with Edward to control Jacob. Charlotte held onto Peter’s hand as the blond grabbed up a notebook and pencils. Bella looked over Mike’s shoulder and watched the teen draw.

“Ok Bells, describe Victoria to me” Mike asked.

“Tall, red eyes, red hair, umm….she is very pretty, pale” Bella described as Mike finished up with his drawing.

“That is her to the tee” Peter gasped as Mike colored in all of the features.

Bella nodded as well and was amazed at the likeness of the drawing. Mike looked over the drawing and blinked.

“She has been here for a long time, almost two months. I remember seeing her walking with my ex and they were…making out!! This is who he cheated on me with” the teen whimpered.

“Then I guess it is safe to say that Victoria ordered him to hurt you and she probably changed him by now” Bella replied.

Mike let tears fall out of his green eyes as everything hit him at once. His ex left him for a female vampire that wanted him dead, which meant that Mike had been stalked and watched. Sobbing, the teen hid his face in his hands as he cried his heart out.

Edward ran inside the house when he heard the sobs from Mike and Carlisle took his place outside. The bronze haired vampire pulled Mike with him into a quiet room and held him.

“Edward they had everything planned” Mike cried.

“Listen to me Mike, planned or not they will not hurt you. Your ex will never touch you again as long as I am here” Edward replied.

“I put everyone in danger, I’m sorry” the blond whimpered.

“Mike……my family is always in danger because someone might expose our secret. You didn’t put us in danger” the vampire said as he pulled Mike’s face closer to his.

“After all of this is through, I want you to make me forget. I want to be with you” Mike whispered as he kissed the older teen.

Edward purred as he kissed the teen back. Mike moaned and relaxed as the vampire gently pulled him closer. Pulling away from the soft lips, the golden eyed vampire smiled.

“There is something that I need to ask you. Do you want to become a vampire?” Edward asked.

“As long you are the one that turns me, I don’t want a newborn or anyone else outside of the family” Mike shivered.

“Carlisle is going to get everything ready after I ask Bella as well” the vampire said with a smile.

“I’m ok now, let’s go back” the blond smiled back as Edward carried him into the living room.

Carlisle was clearing out some of the sleeping bags and had folded out two cots. Bella was watching the doctor with curiosity in her brown eyes.

“Bella, you have an important decision to make. Do you want to stay human or become a vampire” Edward asked as he sat beside the teen.

“Vampire because it is going to happen anyway and I want it to be on my terms and not forced” Bella replied.

“Remember that it takes three days to change fully and the newborns are going to be here by then. When the change starts I am going to have you and Mike taken to a safer house” the vampire teen said as Carlisle brought out his morphine supplies.

Mike nervously looked at the needles while Bella nodded.

“Everything is ready” Carlisle announced.

“Bella lay down on one of the cots and try to relax, go to sleep if you can” Edward ordered as he laid Mike down on the cot.

Bella laid down and closed her eyes. Jasper sat beside Bella and held her hand as he let out calm waves that had the teen asleep.

“Mike don’t be afraid but Carlisle is going to numb you completely. I love you” Edward whispered as he kissed the teen.

Carlisle injected the morphine and numbed Mike’s body. The blond closed his green eyes as he relaxed. Peter stopped breathing, even though it wasn’t needed, and watched as Edward began to inject his venom. Carlisle numbed Bella’s body as Mike cried out in pain.

“Scream if you have to” Edward whispered.

“Bella are you ready?” Jasper asked.

“As ready as I’ll ever be” the teen answered as Edward came over to her side.

Edward kissed Bella before injecting her with venom as well. The rest of the Cullens had come back in to help with the changing. Mike groaning out painfully as Bella cried. Rosalie held onto Mike’s hand and wiped off his sweaty forehead.

Alice sat beside Bella and leaned against Jaz.

“Alright, Esme do you have everything packed?” Ed asked.

“Packed and in the jeep ready to go. Rose is also going to take my car” Esme answered.

“I want you to take them out away from the city and away from humans. The best place for them is in our secret house up in the mountains” the bronze haired teen pleaded.

“I understand, we will be there unless Alice sees the newborns headed our direction then we will move. Carlisle did you pack some of the reserve blood in case I can’t find anything to hunt?” Esme asked.

“Yes dear, I will call you later” Carlisle answered as he hugged his wife.

Edward carried Bella and Mike to the jeep and car and laid Mike in the car and Bella into the jeep. Rosalie and Alice hopped into the car and took off with Esme and Charlotte right behind them.
