"Are we almost there, yet?" A high-pitched annoying voice screeched through the small cabin of the train. You gave a loud sigh as you rolled your eyes, trying to turn your body the other way but, thanks to the massive amount of people crammed up inside the train, you couldn't even move an inch.
"Shut up, Zoë. Just two more stops!" A gruff voice yelled and you couldn't help but to roll your eyes again. You turned your head, staring straight into the eyes of your friend, who sat two steps away from you on a comfortable yet dirty couch.
She gave you a sly smile, as if saying you were totally right. How you could've been convinced to go with them, you didn't know. You just went with them to build up the relationship... And stuff. And because you were kind of bored lately, but that wasn't relevant right now.
However that was the reason to come along with your classmates, to get together and do something. This 'something' you would be doing was going to a gigantic but old arcade. It was the idea of one of your classmates, to do something with the whole class in order to get to know each other a little better.
You would've declined if you weren't the only one who would be doing so. Sadly everyone agreed, making you obliged to agree too. Luckily your friend, who was in the same class, also tagged along, making this trip more bearable.
Don't get it wrong, you didn't mind going to an arcade... But with your classmates? You didn't know them well enough for that. But hey, that was why you were here.
The train slowly came to a halt, as if it was having trouble stopping itself thanks to the massive weight. Once the train had fully stopped you were relieved that a few people stepped out, giving you more space to breathe. You weren't really fond of looking at some guys' armpit for an entire train ride.
"So the next stop?" Before you even knew it you gave a loud sigh. You could mentally see your classmates face palming, even though they were scattered across the cabin, they knew exactly whose voice that was.
"For fuck's sake, Zoë..." Hearing a chuckle through the cabin you knew all of them had heard. Zoë was... What would you call her...? Stupid. It was as if her brain was turned off her entire life, constantly asking stupid questions which can annoy you to the bone.
However she is furthermore completely harmless. You do like her, because she is kind. Stupid, but kind. That's why most of your class can tolerate her, but sometimes she just gets too much to handle. Just like now. You were grateful that you didn't take a spot close to her.
The doors soon closed and the train started driving again. You wobbled a little, grabbing the tube above you head even tighter in order not to fall. You were almost there so you just had to hang in here and try to hide your annoyance, which proved to be difficult.
Dear train... Just hurry up please.
~~
Taking a deep breath you nearly stumbled out of the crowded cabin, feeling the soft and cool breeze on your skin. You couldn't help but to smile at this, feeling a lot better than a few seconds ago. Once you were completely recovered from the harsh train ride you turned around, searching for your classmates.
You saw (F/N) stepping out of the cabin, the same expression on her face you had when you stepped out of that hellhole. You instantly began to chuckle, waving at her to make her notice you. Some of your other classmates also walked towards you, looking around to see if they'd find the others.
"I'm never going to get back in that damn train again, I'd rather walk." (F/N) huffed at you while she was fixing her hair.
"I know, right? Sadly we do have to get back somehow..." One of your classmates spoke and you nodded in agreement. Even though you hated to be in an overcrowded train, you hated walking all the way home in the dark even more.
"Where are the others?" You turned your head to scan the platform. The crowd started to thin out, showing a group of teenagers standing at the end. You gave a sigh of relief before gathering everyone and walking towards the group.
"Oh, everyone is here? Good. Then let's go! I think it's this way!" You took a look around. This train station seemed to be built in the middle of the city; however all around you were only big, grey buildings. It seemed as if this station was built in an industrial area.
Seems weird to be having a gigantic arcade within an industrial area but you didn't dare doubt your classmate. You didn't want to be known as the skeptical party pooper of the class. You still had to live a whole year with these people, you needed them on your good side.
"What are you thinking about, (Y/N)?" You were shaken out of your thoughts when (F/N) spoke. You only stared at her with wide eyes, not really sure if you had heard her correctly or not.
"Nothing much, just wondering how far this arcade is." You mumbled lowly, not wanting anyone else to hear. You saw your classmates happily following your other classmate while being in a conversation.
"Lighten up, (Y/N)! I'm sure it's going to be fun!" You began to smile a little at the encouraging words of your friend. She was probably right; it would be fun in the arcade. You loved those games and playing them together with your classmates was bound to produce some fun memories.
"I... Think it's this way!" Shaking your head you gave a chuckle. Instead of using Google maps or anything your classmate was so stubborn to search for this arcade without it. Ah, what the heck... Later on, when you're halfway through the year, you'll remember the day that (C/M/N) got you all lost.
~~
"Are we there yet?" You heard the screeching voice of Zoë echo through the empty streets. Even though it was a Tuesday, you still found it extremely quiet in this weird city. Where are all the people? You knew some of them would probably be at work but the rest?
However you were walking through the industrial area, not many people would take a walk here for fun. And you doubted that a grocery store would be around here somewhere. All you had been doing was walking around tall, grey buildings for a while now and your feet became a little tired.
No house or anything which looked like something to live in came by; leaving you guys the only 'living' things out here. Eventually your classmate decided to just use Google maps, being fed up with walking around in circles for half an hour.
"Almost there, only 5 more minutes walking." Yeah... He had said that for 20 minutes now. You exchanged glances with your friend, who tried her hardest to stay positive. Well, at least you had something to remember. You know, that day when you were trying to make a memory with the whole class but failed and had to go home instead?
Yeah, that time.
"Oh! It looks like we're here already!" You couldn't believe your ears as you looked up with great anticipation. So this would be the famous arcade hall everyone was talking about? However when you glanced up at the building you only saw that the big, supposedly bright letters were off, giving the building more of a sinister vibe than a playful one.
"Oh no... It isn't closed is it?" One of your classmates spoke and your eyes widened. No! You'd be damned if it was closed! You didn't come all the way out here, search for 50 minutes and THEN stand in front of a closed arcade hall!
You heard the rest of the class groaning, probably thinking the same thing you were thinking. The building itself didn't really look clean either. The letters were all dirty and the whole, white building had turned grey. Posters were ripped off at the outside of the doors and inside darkness loomed over the place.
Your classmate shook his head, not believing the fact that it probably was closed... For a long time.
"No! I checked, it should be open today! I'm sure of it!" He walked towards the glass doors, peeking inside to see if anything was working. You followed him, wondering if this place was merely closed or completely shut down.
Inside you saw darkness... But also the lights of several arcade games... They were... On? You tried to take a closer look, pressing your head against the glass door in order to see a little better. Then you saw, they were indeed on! Then why were the lights out?
As soon as you were about to say something, you backed away a little when your classmate took a hold of the door. Without even so much of a pull, he had opened the door and thus got rid of the only thing blocking you and your class from fun.
You were shocked beyond belief when the door had opened. Was it... Open? Did they have some difficulties with the electricity? Then why was no one in there then? As much as you wanted this arcade to be open, you didn't really want it like this.
Sure you had been walking for almost 50 minutes now, being completely out of breath, tired, annoyed and above all ready to have some fun but... You had a feeling it wouldn't be a smart idea to be walking around in a gigantic arcade that is probably closed and without supervision over all the games.
Your classmate looked over at you and the class with a wide, open mouth. His eyes were glistening of pure excitement and you knew that whatever you would say he wouldn't listen to it.
"My god! I told you it was open! They probably have some issues with the illumination or something. Look! Even all the arcades are still working, that means we can still play!" Your classmate pushed the door open a little further, entering the dark arcade but turning around once he had taken a few steps.
You had opened your mouth to protest, to say that this wasn't such a good idea. However another classmate already opened her mouth, worry clear in the soft tone.
"(C/M/N)... I don't think it's a good idea to be walking around in an arcade which is entirely dark. Maybe they're busy with some sort of preparation for a surprise party or something and we're ruining it." That was a smart one. Maybe they did this 'dark atmosphere' on purpose for some sort of birthday party.
And you guys were the partypoopers.
"Oh don't be like that! If they didn't want us in then one: they'd have to lock their doors. There are machines in here which are worth a million! They would never leave them unguarded. Second they'd have to put someone near the door to make sure other costumers know if there would be such a weird situation as you had said."
It was now another classmate has spoken. He walked forwards, towards (c/m/n) and into the darkness. You couldn't help but to think that they were right. Several of these arcade games were extremely old and valuable. Even if they weren't worth millions, someone could make a lot of money off of them.
They would never forget to leave the doors unlocked and all the arcade games on. More classmates were buying his explanation and decided to walk inside. You gave a soft sigh, starting at your friend who only shrugged, a sign that she didn't know either.
You both then decided to join your classmates, knowing that if someone would catch you that the worst thing what could happen would be that you guys were kicked out. But hey, by then you were bound to have some good memories of your trip together.
"Do you remember that time when we got kicked out of the arcade after walking for 50 minutes and getting completely lost only to come to the arcade while it was actually under construction and we entered anyway...? Yeah, that time."
You couldn't help but to grin a little as the last of your classmates gave up trying to change your minds and enter the dark building. (C/M/N) was searching around widely, his eyes looking that one thing which would safe this disaster day.
"Let's do that one first!"
~~
After a while of playing arcade games, making a lot of noise and loud laughing everyone was enjoying themselves. The tension in the air became a lot better, a lot happier. Classmates were playing with each other, competing with each other and making fun with each other.
Your doubts disappeared as snow disappeared in the sun. You were actually glad that you came along because you indeed got to know your classmates better. Heck, you could even stand and talk to Zoë for several minutes and not get angered or annoyed.
It was then (C/M/N) called everyone together to have a 'dance off'. You happily walked over to the arcade game with the small, dancing mat. You saw how two completely opposite classmates stood on it. One uncertain and the other as certain and can be.
As soon as the music started everyone seemed to cheer. Both were doing extremely well, following the speeding up arrows almost perfectly with their feet. You clapped your hands along with the others, cheering for your favorite to win the dance off.
"Oh, you guys are here!" You turned your head slightly to greet your friend and another classmate walking over towards you. You nodded your head slowly, telling them that a dance off was going on.
"Dude, that's way better than the freaky game we just played." You raised your eyebrows and looked at them questionably, while still keeping an eye on the scoreboard of the dance off. Your friend found other things freaky.
"You should've seen it, (Y/N)! It was REALLY scary." You now gave a soft chuckle and stared at both of them in amusement. You weren't really a hero either when it came to the horror genre, but an arcade game couldn't be that bad. It was probably just a simple minded jumpscare or something.
"If you don't believe me then you have to play it for yourself, (Y/N)!" Your friend looked pretty angry that you didn't believe her. But who could blame you? You shook your head and then took a quick glance at the scoreboard.
"Alright, alright. I'll play it. I just want to see them finish." You turned around, attention focused on the last remaining seconds of the dance game. Both of your classmates were giving their all and you found that quite amusing.
At the end of it all...
It was a tie.
You heard the whole class groaning, you groaning along with them. You really wanted to see a winner, but alas, you couldn't have everything. So far this whole thing was worth the 50 minute walk in circles, because you and all your other classmates seemed to enjoy themselves.
"Come (Y/N)! I'll show you how scary it is!" Your friend yelled and soon (C/M/N) turned towards you. A familiar twinkle in his eyes was shown and you knew where this was going.
"Scary? What are you talking about?" He walked over towards (F/N) and looked from her towards your classmate. She only shook her head, preparing her words for whatever things she had seen in this game.
"There is this really scary game! No! I'm serious, it's really scary!" She yelled a little louder and you knew immediately what (C/M/N) was thinking. Another memory to make.
"Good! We need something scary to set the mood! Where is this game!?" He was now the one who was yelling and before (F/N) could even answer he was already walking into a random direction. She quickly ran after him and you heard the class mumble a little.
"I don't think I like something so scary. We still haven't seen anyone around here, the lights are still off and then we're going to play a scary game? I'd say it would be enough taunting fate for now and let's get the hell out of here." Even though you had enjoyed the past minutes or hours you had spent with your class, you couldn't help but to agree.
It was still a little bit weird that no one was seen the entire time you guys had been playing in here. Whether this was normal or not, you couldn't tell, but you sure knew that it would soon be enough gaming for one day.
"Let's just see what this last game is about and then go home." Another of your classmates spoke. You decided to go with his plan, look at the 'scary' game and then all get out of here and seal this great memory.
You slowly began to walk into the direction of (F/N) and (C/M/N), who were searching for the scary game. Once you saw the two of them standing in front of an arcade machine you slowed down a little.
"Are you serious? This is a Sonic game! That is probably the least scary game there is on the planet!" Your eyes darted over towards the sign above the arcade machine. It literally seemed like a common, happy Sonic game. The ones you used to play when you were a little kid.
"It IS scary! Don't let it fool you!" (C/M/N) sighed and rolled his eyes before he stood in front of the machine. You took a place next to him while (F/N) took a few more steps to the side, glancing at the game from in between her fingers.
The rest of the class soon stood behind you and (C/M/N) as he only grinned, ready to make fun of (F/N). When he started the game it looked normal. Pixel Sonic was waving his finger at the player like he always did before you needed to start the game.
"When you click start it's going to get weird." (F/N) said, still not daring to look more than she did. (C/M/N) only shrugged, pressing the play button. It was then the screen popped to red for a single second, making it seem as if the lake was made out f blood.
You shook your head, wondering if you had seen it correctly.
"A little jumpscare, pff... "(C/M/N) replied, rolling his eyes and waiting for the menu screen. However when he came to the 'data select' screen the music suddenly changed from happy and sparkly to sinister and dark. The background was red, bloody red.
The only character he could choose was Tails. You now knew that you had seen it correctly and you stared at (C/M/N) who was looking at the game confused.
"I've never played this Sonic before... Is it some sort of denied prototype? Or maybe... It's a... Spooky game on purpose!" He almost yelled the last part, totally excited to play a horror game which was supposed to be a kid friendly family game.
"Choose already! The sound is unbearable!" One of your classmates growled and you noticed how the sound of this arcade game was a lot harder than the sounds of other games. Was that to improve the scare level? You couldn't help but to agree though.
(C/M/N) pressed Tails and when he did the screen turned black. However not before gracing the whole class with a loud sound. A sound you could compare to a death in one of those Sonic games. But a lot... Lower... Darker... Sinister.
Alright you were totally not in the mood to play a scary game in an abandoned, dark arcade hall with no people around except for your classmates. The screen was black for a long time before it showed a level you had enjoyed when you were a kid.
Hills.
Hills Act 1
However instead of the 'hills' you recognized, these were different. The hills were completely fine; however it was the sound which wasn't right. This... Sound was different. As if some kind of tune was being played but then in reverse.
However the song played in reverse was a sad one, a darker one.
You had to admit, it indeed was scary. (F/N) was right when she said that the game was really scary. You saw how (C/M/N) began walking with Tails. Instead of the many loops and tunnels you expected, there was only solid, straight ground with trees and occasionally a flower.
(C/M/N) pressed several buttons, but none of them seemed to work. He could only move forward and backwards, but not transform into a ball or jump. So he kept walking... And walking... And walking... You were waiting, waiting for something fucked up to happen.
You were staring at the screen intently, not noticing that you were almost hiding behind (C/M/N). When the screen changed colors he slowed down and it was then you saw. Saw how the hills were covered in blood, how the flowers had lost their petals, how the animals you had to save were ripped open and hanging from the palm trees.
"The fuck is this for game?" You heard one of your classmates mumble. The game itself wasn't so scary. However your surroundings, the music and the vibe were kind of scary. Everything around you was dark; no wonder you found this silly game a little scary. You heard (C/M/N) chuckle a little and you saw how (F/N) was hiding even more.
He kept running past all the corpses and the blood. Suddenly the music stopped and you held your breath. Everyone was super quiet, all looking at the screen in anticipation. It was as if the dark and dangerous vibe filled this room as well, as if you could literally feel the tension Tails was feeling right now.
After a few more steps Sonic came into the picture. He stood at the end of the Hills, his eyes closed, his back facing Tails and what seemed like his arms crossed. Without any consent of (C/M/N) Tails began to walk closer towards Sonic.
Closer... Closer... Almost there... Just... A... Little... Closer.
Then he opened his eyes.
His black eyes with red pupils, staring at Tails for a mini second before the screen turned black again. You were all waiting for a jumpscare, something which would cause all of the class to scream. However it didn't come. Instead a message appeared onto the screen.
"Hello. Do you want to play with me?"
Whatever button (C/M/N) pressed, it didn't do anything. Then the screen turned black again before another title came into the screen.
'HIDE AND SEEK'
The screen turned towards 'the Hills' but this time the background was fire. No palm tree or flower was shown. Only Tails who stood in the middle, pointing his finger to the right and what seemed like crying. You heard one of your classmates scoff.
"What a bullshit game." Your attention on the other hand was almost glued to the screen. You saw how (C/M/N) began walking to the right with Tails. Suddenly the same game over sound from before popped up and you saw flashing images of Sonic with the black eyes and bloodred pupils.
It was then Sonic popped up behind Tails, slowly coming closer while (C/M/N) kept on running. A shrill, irritating, scary and above all nerve wrecking music was playing while Sonic was chasing Tails. There was nothing (C/M/N) could do, Sonic was coming closer and closer while the music sped up.
You almost began to feel bad for a fictional character and hoped that there would be an end to this. In a matter of seconds Sonic got to Tails, the music stopped and the screen turned black for a mere second. There stood Tails, in the middle of the 'Hills' without any music at all.
He was crying loudly, but the whole arcade was quiet. All of your classmates were also quiet. Everyone was waiting for the jumpscare, as Tails kept crying and crying. It took long, a little too long. You noticed how you were trying to hide yourself a little more, more afraid of waiting for the jumpscare than the actual jumpscare itself.
But it didn't come.
Suddenly a sound was heard. A chilling, high pitch before you saw Sonic standing next to Tails. Almost looming over the poor guy with a nasty grin plastered on his face. In a mere second you saw how Sonic caught Tails and the screen turned black as an all day computer and movie scream was heard.
The scream was so loud that you could actually feel the floor beneath you rumbling and some of you classmates covered their ears. It was ten times louder than any game or music that had been played before. When the screaming stopped you heard a classmate curse loudly:
"What the fuck? Are they trying to deafen us?" You couldn't help but to agree. The whole arcade was filled with this scream. If a parent would be playing one of these games with a child and then heard a scream like that... How do you think that child would react? It would be scared and shocked out of his mind.
Sure it added up to the extreme scary factor of the game, but it would ruin other games and scare away potential customers.
Another message had popped up onto the screen
"You're too slow, want to try again?"
"Is this all?" You heard someone saying and turned your head slightly to look at the person. However when you were about to say something you heard (C/M/N) almost yelling a 'no'. Your attention went back to the screen and you now saw that Knuckles was unlocked, but the picture of Tails had disappeared, being replaced with a different and disgusting one above the file. Tails' eyes were only two black holes where blood was leaking from them. The whole picture itself was distorted by some 'snow'. The file seemed to be locked as well.
"You think the same thing will happen but then with that guy?" (F/N) spoke and (C/M/N) only shrugged nonchalantly. The satisfied smile showing that he indeed found some satisfaction and pleasure in these 'scary' horror games.
"Let's see for ourselves, shall we?" He then pressed Knuckles' file and then heard the same 'game over' sound as before. Instead of the thing you expected to see like 'the Hills act 1' or something similar you now saw this sentence on the screen:
"You can't run"
Frowning a little you were preparing yourself for what was to come. You didn't hear any complaints of anyone wanting to go yet, not one single whisper. It was as if everyone was engulfed into the game, engulfed into the dark and eerie silence which filled this arcade hall.
You saw Knuckles on a metal-like platform. The sky behind him was the same color as the file screen. Blood red with what seemed like darker shades mixed within them. Again (C/M/N) pushed several buttons, but none of them seemed to react.
All he could do was walk forwards or walk backwards with Knuckles.
He kept on walking and you were wondering what kind of sick thing would be displaying now. However as he kept walking there were no dead animals, or blood or destroyed things around him. Only Knuckles and this red, vulgar surrounding behind him.
After a while the screen suddenly started to display 'snow', as if the game was corrupted. Of course you all knew that it was part of the arcade game, that it was the warning that something was about to come. The more (C/M/N) kept walking, the more 'snow' was interrupting.
Suddenly, after some 'snow' the metal platform was engulfed in red, thick liquid. You didn't have to think twice of what it was supposed to represent.
Blood.
Knuckles kept walking over the blood red platform, just straight on forwards. Then, out of nowhere, Sonic popped up and Knuckles stopped immediately. He was looming over Knuckles the same way he had loomed over Tails, with his hands ready to grab and rip apart.
The screen turned to snow again before another screen popped up, this one saying:
"fOuNd you" In distorted letters, as if cut apart from several magazines and then put together.
The screen turned to snow again before a shrill and thrilling sound was heard. Knuckles was still standing on the platform, with Sonic only a few feet away. Not looming over the guy, but like a shadow or ghostly version of himself watching Knuckles intently.
(C/M/N) tried to run, he tried to move the other way but it was impossible. He couldn't make Knuckles move an inch. Instead he could only walk towards Sonic, even though you could see he was reluctant to do it. Eventually (C/M/N) made Knuckles somewhat charge at Sonic, but when he was almost touching him, the hedgehog disappeared and reappeared on the other side of Knuckles.
When (C/M/N) make Knuckles walk over there again, the same thing happened. It looked like a silly cat and mouse game, a 'tag you're it' with a person who was cheating miserably. But it was a lot darker and sinister just to be a silly game.
It was more of a representation, of something you wanted so badly, of something you needed so desperately. But couldn't get it.
Knuckles kept charging at Sonic, you could almost feel his desperation, his fear. Oh come on, (Y/N) it was just a silly game. A silly, bad arcade game which was supposed to scare you...
Well, it did a great job at that but the surrounding in REAL life helped with that task a lot. Just look at you now! You were standing with people you barely know in a darkened, abandoned arcade hall in the middle of nowhere whilst playing a loud ass, 'scary' game.
My little pony could be made scary like this.
After a while of Sonic disappearing and reappearing, Knuckles fell to the ground and began crying whilst Sonic was still watching the guy intently in his ghost form. A sickening smile on the lips of the pixilated character. You found this whole thing rather peculiar, since you always thought of Knuckles as the tough one.
It didn't seem like him to be crying on the ground like that, but this game did do some pretty weird and messed up shit.
You then saw Sonic looming over Knuckles, his grin widening as he grabbed the red beast. Knuckles seemed to fall back as the screen turned black with the same, ear-piercing loud scream as before playing. The whole class immediately covered their ears again, the sound being so extremely shrill and loud.
When the scream had stopped the same messed up 'game over' sound was heard and a different message popped up onto the screen:
'So many souls to play with- so little time. Would you agree?'
You then came back to the 'load' screen as you could choose your file. Eggman's picture was now available, as well as his file. Knuckles' file was locked and his picture... Was just like Tails' replaced by another, dead version of himself.
You hadn't noticed the goosebumps rising on your skin and you rubbed your arms in a desperate attempt to get rid of the uneasy feeling you got. You didn't want to play this game anymore; it's stupid and sickening to watch.
"I really don't want to play this game anymore... Let's just go home guys." It seemed as if one of your classmates was speaking for all of you, her eyes stood uneasy and everyone seemed to agree with her. You slowly took a look at (C/M/N) expecting him to protest against the complaints given by your classmates.
However he only stood there, the joystick glued to his hand as he watched the screen with an intensity that looked like it would break the arcade game. The whole class was quiet as well, awaiting his answer and permission to leave this darkened hall.
When he didn't respond to the question you decided to grab his arm in order to shake him from his trance.
"(C/M/N), are you o-" He suddenly seemed to break free; letting go of the machine immediately as if it was burning like a fire. His wide-open eyes were fixed at yours before turning towards the whole class and back to yours again.
He then seemed to calm down a little when everyone gave him a worried glance.
"I'm fine. But we need to go out of here; otherwise we'll be home late." You raised your eyebrow at his confused and almost... Scared state but didn't question that any further. You were completely agreeing with the fact that you had to go home, even though it would only be like 3:00 p.m or something like that.
You didn't even close off the game as you walked away, behind the class. You occasionally glanced over your shoulder to look at (C/M/N), but all he did was walk forwards. No grinning, no laughing, no bragging of how HE was the one that made you all go in here and make memories.
It was unusual.
It felt unusual.
"Well, that was... Sort of fun if you don't count that last part." (F/N) spoke and you almost jumped a little out of fright thanks to her voice. You turned towards her, still walking behind the whole class as you answered:
"Yeah... You're right. It was fun though." You couldn't help but to agree with her. Despite the last part you and your class did have a good time here at the arcade. Especially that dance-off was amazing. However now was the right time to get the hell out of here.
You hadn't really noticed before but the dark surrounding, the fact that no one was around AND the lack of security made you feel uncomfortable. Really uncomfortable.
Maybe it was thanks to that game?
When you saw the door you sighed loudly, preparing yourself to travel all the way back to the station and probably get lost. You again glanced over your shoulder towards (C/M/N), who was still walking quietly behind you guys. A loud 'thud' shook you from your thoughts when you heard your classmate cursing.
"The fack?" You saw how one of your classmates reached for the door, but instead of opening... The doors were locked in place. Confusion washed over you as you stared at the people in front of you.
"You need to push!"
"Idiot, I already tried!" You saw how the annoyance of the group soon turned into fear as several of your classmates shook the handle of the door roughly.
"It won't open!"
"What do you mean it won't open?"
"Oh no! We can't be locked inside?" Panic had spread over the group as you felt equally scared and confused. How in the world was this possible? You got inside without anyone noticing or seeing anyone. You hadn't seen or heard anyone either so who could've locked the door?
And even if they would, the sound of every arcade game had echoed through the whole hall, if someone had locked the door then they HAD to know that a few people were still inside.
Suddenly the group's yelling was interrupted by a dark, demonic sound coming from the back of the arcade. It sounded like a slow-motion, demonic version of a name. Or something like that.
The whole group fell silent as everyone turned their attention towards the back of the arcade hall. Again the sound was heard, this time a lot louder, darker... Sinister.
"Seeeggaaa." You couldn't understand what it was trying to say, what it was supposed to say. You felt your pulse speeding up as you could only stare at the darkness residing in front of you.
Alright (Y/N), calm down... Calm down... They would never lock the door so suddenly with people inside... This was a normal arcade hall which somehow was open and... That's it! It was a prank! Of course!
Someone had forgotten to lock the door, found you inside and decided to play a prank on you for entering this arcade hall without any permission. That must be it!
When you opened your mouth to voice your discoveries to your class someone suddenly shouted:
"Break the glass!" Your head snapped over to your classmate, shouting a loud 'NO' when you saw someone grabbing a nearby chair and charging at the window full speed. However when he was almost close, ready to throw the small chair through the glass...
A big blue flash snatched him away.
The whole group was knocked away from the speed and impact, falling on the ground with a harsh smack, some against the windows. You immediately regained your composure as you turned around; staring in the direction one of your classmates was dragged away to.
The hall filled itself with a terrifying, horrifying, nasty scream coming from that exact direction. You felt your heart ramming against your ribcage as your mouth was wide open. Another sound was heard.
One you could only identify as cruel, sickening, and disgusting. Before you could even think correctly, wondering what the blue thing was, the screaming stopped.
You were now sure that this wasn't a prank anymore.
"What the hell is going on?" Another one of your classmates spoke after a while of silence, yet no one dared to stand up. Frozen to the ground by fear and worry of what had happened to that certain classmate. You did know that something was terribly wrong.
Then, from the utter darkness, you saw two glowing red eyes staring at the crowd. A loud, disturbing growl was heard and you could see some of your classmates shaking. Before anyone could say or do anything, the blue flash shot out of the darkness, charging at another classmate with full force.
Your mind couldn't handle the stress anymore as your primeval urge to survive took over. You shot up, along with several of your classmates, and ran as fast as you could towards something unknown.
You heard another ear-piercing scream and that other sickening sound again. A quick glance over your shoulder told you that the sickening sound could be identified as 'the ripping of flesh' as you saw your classmate getting ripped apart by a blue... Monster.
By...
By a stronger, more masculine, more animal like version of Sonic.
You couldn't look any further, your attention desperately needed in front of you. You heard cries and screams behind you as you kept on running into a random direction. Anywhere to get the hell away from here, to get as far away as possible from that killer.
You had no idea if your mind was just playing tricks on you, if you really had seen Sonic... But you couldn't think about it now, your mind was too occupied to be thinking such things over. At the end of the darkness you saw a door and then another one of your classmates running towards it.
She was first, pushing the door open and shooting through it. You followed suit, grabbing the door and slamming it behind you as you saw that you came to a long staircase. It was one of those emergency staircases, with a lot of stairs in order to get on the roof.
You didn't think twice and followed your classmate, shooting after her and up the stairs. The sweat was rolling off of your forehead and you cursed the fact that you had many, many stairs up ahead of you. The adrenaline made you keep going, not feeling your painful muscles and sore feet as your sole purpose was to survive this ordeal.
You were scared out of your mind, running and almost fleeing up the stairs behind your classmate. The sound of your feet clashing against the metal filled the small but high room and you kept your ears open for any sign of the door opening.
Your classmate gave a cry of joy as she almost neared the emergency exit on the roof, only a few stairs away. You used the last of your strength to keep on going, not daring to look back.
However when your classmate was almost at the door you heard her shriek loudly.
"FoUnD You!" A demonic, deep voice spoke and your head snapped upwards, to the place where your classmate was standing. Through the several holes in the platform you could see how his big claws had wrapped around the arms of the girl and with one swift movement he had grabbed her head in between his teeth and ripped it off of her body.
She didn't even have time to scream.
You were watching the ordeal with wide-open eyes, your feet frozen solid to the metal as you saw him chewing on her head a little, and the bones cracking in between his teeth. You felt the contents of your stomach slowly coming up and you had to hold your hand before your mouth to prevent you from puking.
It was then his blood red eyes focused on your small frame before he growled loudly:
"What are you looking at, slut?" This was enough to make your body move, fleeing down the stairs whilst your feet had trouble keeping up with the speed of your mind. All you could think of right now was:
I NEED to get away!
You heard heavy thuds behind you, indicating that he was following you, that he was coming closer and closer.
You'd never make it.
When you were about to do something drastic and jump over the railing you felt a long, sharp claw wrapping itself around your ankle. A yelp of fear escaped your throat as you were roughly slammed onto the metal platform.
Your bones were creaking in protest as your lungs were squeezed to pancakes. You couldn't breathe as you felt a heavy weight sitting on top of your back, completely pinning you on the ground. Fear was felt in every single vein in your body as you saw your life flashing before your eyes.
You were about to get eaten by a horrendous, imaginary monster.
You just hoped he had the decency to make it quick.
You felt his sharp nails digging in the flesh of your neck through his white gloves. However besides that you didn't feel any other pain than him sitting on you and your lungs slowly burning because of the lack of oxygen. You then tensed completely as you felt something sliding over your back and then resting in your hair.
"You smell... Delicious." Goosebumps were rising on your flesh as you struggled against his grip, your whole body screaming for much needed air as your head began to turn blue.
You felt his weight getting lifted up a little as you gasped for air loudly, coughing in order to ease the burning pain in your lungs. You immediately tried to regain yourself, crawling over the platform in a desperate attempt to get away.
"Almost too delicious to pass up. Want to play a game?" Your eyes widened and your will to get away only grew stronger. You kept crawling over to the stairs, the edges of the small holes on the platform scraping against your tender skin.
"Well, slut, if we want to make this work then I'll have to look more presentable, huh?" You had no idea what in the world he was talking about but you didn't care, if you somehow managed to get to the other stairs then you could lift yourself up and run away again.
"What's the matter? Don't like your new god?" You didn't even listen to him, being so close to the other stairs that you could only focus on that. Suddenly you felt something being shoved underneath your hip:
"Let me help you with that." Another growl was heard and you were suddenly pushed down the stairs, your already damaged body tumbling all the way over the metal planks before crashing on the other platform with a loud bang.
"Alright you little cocktease, I'm done playing this game now." Your head was spinning, so was the world in front of your eyes. You tried to get up; use the last of your strength to fight back but when you felt him pulling at your legs you knew it was useless.
In one swift movement he had turned you over, coming face to face with the thing which had ripped your classmates apart one by one... The thing which would soon be ripping you apart into a thousand of bloody pieces.
Only to see that the 'thing' wasn't a 'thing' anymore.
Instead of the animal like predator you had seen before, this 'Sonic' seemed to be more human like... Well only his body was. His eyes were still all black, with red pupils in them. They also leaked a red, thick substance which could only be identified as blood.
On his head were still two, blue ears whilst his long blue hair fell to his mid back. His fur had disappeared completely as he now wore clothes. The fact that he looked more humanized didn't mean that he was less scary now.
Oh no.
The fact that he was a 'human' now made you really fear for what he was going to do. Your fear only seemed to encourage him as he smiled a wicked smile, showing his sharp, bloody teeth which were begging to be set in your skin.
"P-please... Don't kill me." Fear had completely taken over as you stared at the killer with watery eyes. Why couldn't he just leave you alone? His smile seemed to widen as his face neared yours. You immediately turned your head away, closing your eyes as you felt his stinking, breath fanning over your ear.
"When I'm done with you, slut, you'll be begging me to kill you." He whispered darkly, before he sat up and took a hold of your T-shirt. He ripped the fabric apart in one swift movement, leaving you only in a small piece of undergarments to cover your upside.
It was then you finally realized what he was going to do.
God please no.
You tried to struggle, but every move you made resulted in him grabbing you rougher, making you wince in pain.
His head moved lower, his nose slowly tracing over your belly and towards your breasts. Once at the two mounds, he grinned. He sniffed loudly before he sat up again, looking down at you. In a second he was at your feet, pulling at the jeans and successfully getting them off.
By the time you tried to shoot up, he was already sitting on top of you, his gloved hand tracing over your flesh before he growled loudly. His hand roughly grabbed one of your breasts, squeezing the soft flesh as you gave cry of pain.
It was then you realized he wasn't grabbing your breast, but your bra. With a rough pull, you heard the fabric ripping apart, leaving your upper body completely naked and unprotected. You began to struggle again, desperately wanting to cover yourself up.
It was no use.
His grin only seemed to widen by the mounds, licking his lips like an animal would do when he had caught his prey. You felt a cool breeze running over your skin and goosebumps were rising on your flesh again.
You gave a groan of surprise when he suddenly got off, only to be surprised again when you felt him flipping you on your hands and knees. You immediately tried to crawl away, but when he took a hold of your hair you immediately stopped from the pain.
Pulling at your hair he pulled your head closer, your backside touching his front uncomfortably.
"Listen to me, whore, you're going to enjoy every single second when I shove my hard cock deep inside of you, understood?" You didn't want to nod. You wanted to yell at him, to tell him he could go to hell with his sick fantasies.
You felt him pulling harder at your head, almost to the point he was creating a severe headache. Regaining the last of your self dignity and resistance you hissed:
"Fuck you, monster!" You felt his hot breath fanning over your shoulder, almost to the point he was panting. His saliva or whatever it was dripped onto your bare back.
"As you wish." Were the only words his rough voice spoke before his claw had gripped the edge of your panties and pulled them down. Without a second thought you felt his length shoving inside of you with one, deep thrust.
You gave a scream of pain as your walls were stretched to its limit, no preparation or help. You heard him grunt loudly, before his hand was placed onto your hip. His other hand still had a grip on your hair and before you could react to the stinging pain in your front, you felt him pulling back.
Using your hair he drove himself inside of you again, this time your scream was louder than before. He started pumping in and out roughly, occasionally giving a soft grunt of pleasure. You didn't enjoy it one single bit as it felt like you were being ripped apart from the inside.
You then felt his hand, which was placed onto your hips, clawing at your back. The burning pain from the wounds he created added up to the stinging pain inside of your body. Animalistic sounds came from his mouth as he kept scratching at your back.
You had to hold on to the bars of the railing to keep steady and in place, your knees scraping against the edges of the holes in the platform. His thrusts were rough, deep and full force. You hadn't noticed that you were panting and you felt liquid staining your thighs and occasionally dripping onto your legs.
You didn't want to know what it was.
Suddenly you felt the stinging on your back intensifying, as his abs were pressed against your lower back through the fabric of his shirt. He had let go of your hair, his arms wrapping around your waist and his body literally supporting itself onto yours. This position reminded you of two dogs.
You heard him panting in your ear, you felt him panting in your ear.
"You're doing real good for me, slut." You just hoped that this whole ordeal would be over soon. You could still feel his hard cock driving itself deeply into your small frame, and with every thrust the blue haired male tightened his grip on you.
Soon you felt him speeding up, grunting loudly with each sloppy thrust he gave. The pattern was broken and then, with a loud roar, you knew he was releasing himself inside of you. Panting loudly he gave a few, last thrusts before you felt his teeth digging themselves into the flesh of your neck.
You gave a groan of pain, not even feeling your backside anymore. He pulled back, licking the blood and then pulling himself out of your small, fragile frame. You gave a high pitched mewl of pain as your lower regions were burning.
You immediately tensed up when you felt his tongue going from your anus all the way up towards your neck, ending at the wound.
"You also taste delicious." You were still panting roughly, too tired and broken to fight the man. He was done; you had served your purpose and would now be eaten alive by this monstrosity. God let him have the mercy to make it quick.
Suddenly you heard the door opening, some panting and then footsteps running up the stairs. Your eyes immediately widened, the sound awakening your will to fight as you opened your mouth. However before you could scream, Sonic had already placed his and over your mouth.
The footsteps got closer and closer and in a desperate attempt to warn the person below you, you decided to slam your hand against the metal. The sound reverberated through the room loudly and the footsteps immediately stopped, before continuing again. However you were almost certain they were in the different direction.
Sonic gave a loud roar and then hissed at you in a hushed tone:
"You will regret that, slut." Before he bolted up and jumped over the railing.
You then heard the door being slammed shut, followed by the sound of it opening and shutting close again. You didn't need to think twice of what you had to do, as you quickly shot up, wincing a little at the stinging pain in your lungs and your back.
You quickly gathered your damaged shirt before you bolted up the stairs, towards the emergency exit again. On the way you quickly put on your ripped shirt, in order to cover yourself up a little more.
Your breathing was still heavy, having trouble ignoring the pain and to keep running. You almost gave a cry of relief when you neared the door, giving a silent prayer to the remains of your classmate as you bolted through the emergency exit.
Once on the roof you frantically searched around, the sweat dripping off of your forehead and onto your lips. You tasted the salty liquid, but your mind was too focused on finding a way off of this building. You then spotted a small emergency ladder and you had no idea how quickly you had to get on it.
You almost slid all the way down, afraid that with each second that Sonic guy would come and drag you back up again. Once your feet were touching the ground you finally felt hope filling your body again. But you still weren't out of danger yet. You began to run, hand clasped around the ripped edges of your shirt in order to keep you little less exposed.
You kept running past the building, onto the street and as far away from the arcade as possible. Everything changed when you spotted a person standing on the road ahead of you. And behind that person were more people.
You ran as fast as you could, ignoring all the complaints your body gave you as your sole goal was to reach that person standing close to you, to get some help and get away from here.
When a car passed you, loudly honking and then stopping your body reacted to it immediately. You were exhausted and unable to move any further. With a loud sigh you fell onto your knees, it was as if your body knew that this was the limit. You were covered in blood and the man inside of the car ran out, draped his coat over your shoulders and shouted to the other people to get help.
He talked to you but you only saw lips moving. You were too busy in your own mind to hear any sound.
You realized.
You finally made it.
You made it out of that nightmare alive.
You are alive.
~~
"My condolences..." You whispered lowly, shaking the hand of (C/M/N)'s mother, who was crying loudly. You had no idea how to comfort her, how to support her. The idiotic and unrealistic idea of his family wondering why you lived and he didn't shot through your mind.
You had to shake your head in order to get rid of it.
The woman placed his hand onto yours, staring into your (E/C) eyes with her watery ones.
"I'm glad some of you did make it out alive..." You averted your eyes, squeezing softly in her hand and deepened in your own thoughts. You wished others had survived, but you knew that you were already lucky. 4 of the 21 students had survived the whole ordeal, including you.
Also including (F/N), Zoë and another classmate.
It was Zoë who used herself as a decoy, so that the others could break the glass of the small office within the arcade hall. Somehow, thanks to another classmate, Zoë could get out as well, being severely wounded and momentarily put into a regulated coma.
The rest... Was all identified dead within the building.
The police had questioned every single one of you, but mostly you thanks to the weird and frightening interest the killer took in you. The other three all said he merely ripped his prey apart immediately, while he took some time with you.
You knew that you had an angel sitting on your shoulder, because thanks to that other classmate running in your direction, Sonic had stopped focusing his attention on you, thus giving you a chance to get the hell away of there. That person had saved your life and gave you enough time to escape alive.
You were sure he had ripped you apart after the whole 'thing'.
Who or what it was couldn't be identified. When you all told the police about what exactly had happened, what the guy looked like they all started laughing at you. They didn't want to show it, but you knew that they were mocking the four of you behind your backs.
Of course you couldn't blame them. You had played the Sonic game before the massacre and you described an imaginary beast that didn't exist. However the police did say that the only thing which could kill all those teenagers so quick had strength similar to a wild animal.
They were thinking of a mature and extremely strong serial killer.
The owners and workers of the arcade were later found in their offices, also being ripped apart and dead. Thus explaining why no one was there. You were just unlucky to actually enter the darkened hall while all the others coming there turned back.
"It wasn't your fault (Y/N); there was nothing any of you could've done." You attention immediately focused on the woman standing in front of you. The only thing you did was nod, feeling the tears staining the back of your eyes.
She let go and you walked away.
You felt an arm hook itself through yours and you immediately tensed. You glanced to your side and saw (F/N) walking next to you, her head focused on the ground.
Every night you woke up covered in sweat, nightmares of the whole ordeal still plaguing your thoughts. (F/N) and the other classmate had the same nightmares. This made you closer towards each other, because you all knew how the other felt.
The both of you walked outside, not speaking but enjoying the small birds chirping happily. The sun was shining onto your skin and the smell of grass and trees filled your nostrils. Giving a loud and deep sigh you thanked the heavens for getting another chance, for standing here outside and enjoying the surrounding.
You began to appreciate everything more and your look on the world had changed thanks to the whole incident. The negative sides were still overruling, but you were sure that, when times had passed, they would wear away.
For now you could only enjoy life.
Praying to whatever there was up above that you would never have to see that monster again.
