Third Battle of Beruna

She looked around, noticing that she was laying on a cool rock. Part of her knew that she was dreaming, but the rest of her mind wasn't listening to that. The rock that she was laid upon looked over a crystal clear lake. She jumped, feeling a pair of arms wrap themselves about her.
"You're still as lovely as I remember," a familiar voice whispered in her ear. Susan turned to see the one person she had longed to see again. The one person that she would never forget, other than Aslan of course.
"Caspian," she whispered and threw her arms around her and buried her face against his shoulder, tears starting to trickle down her face.
"Don't cry," he comforted, "We don't have much time and I don't want it wasted on you tearing up that lovely face of yours.".
"Then," she sniffled, "I am dreaming?"
"This is more than a dream, but less than what is real," Caspian said, as if to Susan he were quoting Aslan.
"Where am I then?"
"In Aslan's country. He allowed me to see you one more time."
"Is this where all who die in Narnia go?"
"Yes. Now listen, I know that there was a bond developing between us before you left, but fate didn't see fit to keep you at my side, and I so did want you to stay, even though I found myself another in the end. However, my time with you is growing short," Caspian said and took her face in his hands. "Protect and love the lands like you love me. Your the queen of Narnia. Be the queen I know you can be."
"I will," she said and all went black.

Susan woke with a jump and looked around to see that she was back in the tent that she was sharing with Lucy.
"Good morning," Lucy greeted with a yawn.
"Lucy...I had a dream..." she began and proceeded to tell Lucy about her meeting with Caspian.
"Susan?" Lucy asked with concern.
"I'm fine. I think I can carry on until I see him again," she said, her eyes alight.

Edmund woke. He didn't want to be awake due to the fact that he knew what was to come this day, but seeing he had no choice in the matter, he detached himself from the rock that was Shazarraah.
"There's a lion that's got an answer I want," he whispered while dressing and walked out of the tent with a purpose. Looking about, he quickly found the figure of the lion he wished to talk to.
"You have a question?" Aslan asked.
"Are we going to have to leave after this bloody war is over and done with?" Edmund asked, not bothering to keep his tongue clean around the lion.
"Like your sword, you must keep your tongue clean."
"Apologies, Aslan, but I will not wish to go through what Susan went through after we all left the last time when Caspian was first crowned King."
"I shall answer you with a question. Given a choice, would you rather die in an accident that you had no control over, or die in battle, where you had some control?"
"I would choose to die in battle, especially if it was in the defense of Narnia...or Shazarraah," he finished with a blush.
"Then, you have your answer," Aslan said and moved away from the confused Edmund.

The four stood, alone, with four goblets of wine. It was becoming a pre-battle ritual for the four royals of Narnia to have a pre-battle toast.
"To Aslan, and the victory of the third battle of Beruna," Peter lifted his goblet and his three siblings toasted.
"Peter, I had a very confusing conversation with Aslan...he answered my question with a strange question of his own. He said if I'd were given the choice, would I rather die in an accident that I had no control over, or if I were to rather die in battle. And I said that I'd rather die in battle, protecting Narnia," Edmund explained.
Susan interjected, "Or Shazarraah."
Edmund blushed and fired back,"Oh hush you."
"Hmmmm, that is strange. He must know how you, or more likely, all of us would have died in our world...and I shant want to know that." Peter remarked and the others agreed with their brother.

It had seen two battles before, but those were long in Narnia's past. Plus, the battle that was ready to take place would be the greatest battle in Beruna's history, and the most tragic.
At the head of the Narnian army, was Aslan and behind him, the High King and Jadis. Behind them, the pair of Edmund and Shazarraah, and behind them, the rest of the Narnian army, at least, all who were swordsmen. Behind the sword wielders were the creatures that didn't need swords...and behind them, lead by Queens Susan and Lucy, were the archers.
Before them was the army of Calormen. Tash was at point with Rishda and the rest of the dreaded army following after.
"Death to all Narnians!" Rishda shouted, his scimitar in the air.
"Well, if it isn't the Tisroc, may he die this day." Shazarraah retorted. This angered Rishda, but it was Tash that lunged in attack, hoping to rid himself of the lion before him.
"Let us drive these Calormenes out of Narnia for good!" Peter proclaimed and the battle was on again.
888
Edmund was stuck fighting the second in command of the Calormene army. This left Shazarraah to fight on her own. She didn't mind this too much, but had she known that the men before her were ordered to capture her, she would have liked Edmund to be closer to her.
888
"You are an ass to kill, High King!" Rishda roared.
"Funny, I was thinking the same thing about you," Peter grunted his reply.
"Grrr, and what has your witch done to my blade?!?" Rishda demanded.
"Fighting magic with magic," Peter answered and continued fighting.
888
"They are keeping to normal arrows," Lucy observed, however, the moment she said this, streams of fiery arrows rained down upon them.
"What was that about them using normal arrows?:" Susan asked. "Archers! light your arrows and send them a hot foot!" she ordered.
888
"This is how true war should be!" Tash proclaimed as his and Aslan's powers clashed.
"Leave this land Tash, and never return," Aslan growled.
"Please, do you think I can be driven out of these lands just because you ask it?" Tash questioned and went to slash out the lion's eye, but was too slow in doing so.
"If you continue, your lands and people will belong to Narnia, and your temples will be no more," Aslan uttered.
"Not if we have anything to say about that, kitty cat," a female voice said. Aslan turned and saw both Azaroth and Zardeenah standing there.
"Ah, greetings my fellows, you have decided then?" Tash said.
"Yes, we shall drive Aslan out of here and make ourselves the ones these barbarians worship." Azaroth relayed. However, before the three could attack, two things happened all at once. First, Shazarraah's scimitar was struck from her hand and dozens of men seized her. Second, Edmund killed Rishda's second in command. Seeing these two things, Rishda ordered a retreat.
"Bring the girl to our side and retreat back to their border!" Rishda shouted and the entire army headed for the outskirts of Narnia.
"Cowards, come back!" Edmund shouted, Peter restraining his brother from doing something foolish.
"King Peter, give chase, I shall return to you shortly!" Aslan called and vanished.
"Pick up her scimitar and lets go," Peter said to Edmund.
"I won't leave a single Calormene alive until I have her back," Edmund vowed.
"They are on the move, follow them!" Peter shouted and the Narnian army chased after the Calormene army.
