Chapter Nine:Nari's Knight in Shining Eyepatch
Note: I do not know much about Jarlaxle's family either. So again please don't critize me over that! Oh yeah I write romance and suck with action and fight scenes.
The night found Nari laying upon Jarlaxle's chest. Her hand limply upon his bare waist. Head resting upon Jarlaxle's shoulder. In a deep sleep. Worn from the events of this night. But Jarlaxle found it hard to doze off. For some reason. He kept his arm wrapped around her. and gazed down upon her calm sleeping face. He knew that he loved her. But she wants to go home. He wanted her to be happy. So despite his own heart's desires....he was willing to let her go.
He sighed and snuggled his head against her's. Lightly nuzzling his lips along her beautiful face. Speaking of which. He was going to have to punish Sharlotta for what she had done to try and make Jarlaxle stear away from Nari.No matter what Nari would lack on the outside, she would always make up on the inside.
Outside his tent he knew his men were just lounging around, eating and talking by several lit fires. He had not heard anything from Sharlotta in quite a while however. He sighed again and closed his eyes. And tried to get some sleep. He glanced up only once. Because he knew it was starting to snow. How strange for these parts. But he shrugged it off and dozed off anyway.
The next morning, Jarlaxle woke. Nari was not laying in his arms. Nor was she in his tent. Jarlaxle tossed the covers from him and dressed in the cloths he had got in Calimport and cased his sword. Slipping on his hat and eyepatch, Jarlaxle walked quickly out of his tent. His eye widened. All of his men, lay dead upon the snow. Blood everywhere. Most of them had slit throats.
" Nari!" Jarlaxle shouted. Ignorring the fact that Sharlotta's men were nowhere in sight. There was no answer from Nari." Nari!" He called again.
"She's as good as dead...." A weak voice of Artemis caught Jarlaxle off guard. He ran over to his battered companion.
"Artemis...what happened here?" He asked. Artemis just lay there, bleeding from his side. He was bruised up pretty bad." Where is Nari?"
Artemis shook his head." Triel and Gromph ambushed us and Sharlotta's men betrayed us last night....they took Nari.....she was sneaking away..." His voice trailed off as Jarlaxle handed him and healing potion."...I tried to get Nari to safety...but....Triel is was too powerful...."
" Take it easy, Artemis....thank you.You have said enough." Jarlaxle stood up straight and made his way over to his horse."Stay here.Heal up, my friend."
With that Jarlaxle slammed his heals into his horse's ribcage and rode off quickly.
With her hands bound tightly, Nari could barely move. Nor see where she was going for that matter ahead of her. She did not think that Menzoberranazan would be so dark. " Keep moving!" Gromph Baerne shoved her forward.Where she lost her footing and fell.
Nari glared and slowly continued." Gromph!" A female voice snapped. Riding over on horseback.
" Quenthel." The Gromph looked up at the woman on the horse. His sister.
" How dare you mistreat our Queen's scarifice!" She snapped.
Nari looked up at the drow woman. Who stared back down." What a lovely dress." She began." Only Jarlaxle would buy such a lovely gown for a beautiful woman."
" Don't flatter her, sister. She is a filthy surface dweller." Triel hissed riding along side her sister.
" You are going to slow, sea efl!" Triel snapped. Tying a second rope around her wrists. This one was longer. So Triel could drag Nari. She rode hard and fast. Nari lost her footing again and this time, road was what she meet. Rocks and gravel skidding along her face.
Nari cried out in pain.Gromph looked at Quethel and shook his head as she spoke,"Triel should not be doing that."
"We don't even know if Lloth will accept her. " Gromph said.
" Why?"
" Our brother, Jarlaxle....has depurified her. He took her last night. " Gromph explained.
" Are you curtain?"
" When Sharlotta sent for us...she mentioned that."Quelthel shook her head. And stared upon the ground.
" He will come for her. He might love her, I heard he was going to let her go." Quethel stated.
Even Gromph had beliefs that Jarlaxle felt more then a drow should for someone like her.
" Mother!" Triel tossed Nari into the throneroom of the strongest and first Matron Mother of Menzoberranazan. She sat upon her throne staring upon the blooded and weakened Nari. Her entire face had blood and scapes upon it. Her dress torn.
Yvonnel Baerne stood from her throne. her long robes brushed against the marble floor."Leave us, Triel." She ordered her first child. Triel took a slight bow and did as told.
Matron Baerne walked around the weeping sea elf. She knelt down to her. And forced her chin up so she could have a look at her." From whar Jarlaxle said to Triel you were said to be beautiful....however I see none of that at all.The sight of a sea elf like you sickens me." She said coldly.
Nari looked down and used her sleeves and try and wipe her face clean of the blood." Here. Allow me." Matron Baerne offered. She muttered a phrase and when Nari glanced down at herself. She was dressed in a white silk gown. Her face was clean and free of her wounds." There now, stand before me. Surface dweller."
Nari did as ordered. She was still tied up as she stood face to face with the powerful drow." You are Jarlaxle's mother." She mused.
" I am. As much as it shames me to call him my son.My third born. " She said with disgust.
" Shames you so much that you tried to kill him when he was born." Nari said.Matron Baerne looked at Nari. And saw no more fear. Just anger and rage. She glared at the sea elf and turned to walk towards her throne." How could you have done such a thing! Is a spider with boobs such a holy icon that you'll slaughter your own baby!" Nari shouted at her.
Matron Baerne turned slowly and stared evily at Nari. Quickly she approached her and back handed slapped her hard across the face. " Insolent whore! How dare you speak of Lloth in such a manner. I'll see your sacrifice slow and painful...." She trailed off and smiled."....but....if my son has indeed taken you...I could always make you a slave of Lloth."She spoke her idea outloud.
" I would rather die then follow your queen." Nari spat. Matron Baerne smiled and chuckled.
" You are a foolish, yet brave girl." Upon saying that she shouted something in the drow langauge. Nari screamed out as a pedistal emerged from the ground. Trapping her upon it. Chains and webbing held her firmly upon it's stone surface. Matron Yvonnel Baenra stood above her holding a little vial of Lloth's poison mixed with her blood.
Matron Baerne used her magic and forced Nari's mouth open. And the girl knew she had no other choice, With her last ounce of voice she called out," Jarlaxle!" She cried.Just as Matron Baerne forced the liquid into her mouth and down her throat.
And the call was not unoticed. For the mercanary sneaking into the temple had heard and was coming to answer her cries. Jarlaxle slipped easily passed any defenses and climbed into the highest window of the throneroom. He peered down to see Nari screaming out in pain, struggling to fall from the alter. Her eyes were glwong pure green. Viens tatooed her body.
" No." He muttered. And leapt in the middle of the room.
" So, Jarlaxle...my son you have returned home." Matron Baerne mused.
Jarlaxle ignorred her and walked over to the alter. He took Nari's face into his hands. She still twitched and moved violently. Still bound by the chains." Her soul is being eaten away. Within minutes she will not beable to recongize even herself." Matron Baerne said coldly.
Jarlaxle still ignorred her and leaned down close to her," Nari! Stop this! Fight the tonic!" He called to her. " I know you can hear me!Please..." Jarlaxle had one last chance to save her,he had to tell her. "Nari I love you!"
" Love..." Nari's voice echoed as if she was trying to define in her head....but she was becoming a mindless slave. A zombie. Abruptly, Nari's eyes eased from the glowing and a dark glowing green saliva oozed from her throat and dripped from her mouth.
Jarlaxle sighed with relief and kissed her forehead. He stood and turned to face his mother." I changed my mind." He said with a shrug.
" You ruined a prefectly good virgin sacrifice my son." Matron Baerne stated, sitting back on her throne. He shrugged. Normally she would have tried to punish him by now....but he had assisted in many assults for her. So she might have to let this one slid. After all she was a worthless sea elf to her.
Jarlaxle smirked and took a slight bow. However something small and hard rolled off his hat. He looked up at his mother. She smirked as she stared up at the cealing.
Perhaps Lloth does desire her.Jarlaxle only nodded his head and glanced up. Upon seeing what was coming down from the roof and cealing all he could say was" Of course." He drew his sword.
From the cealing a massive female drow with a torso of a woman and the rest of her was of a black widow hissed down towards Jarlaxle.
Leaping upon the top of the alter, Jarlaxle used his own magic to free Nari. Who was unconsious. Lifting her upon his shoulder he leapt from the alter before the spider queen herself could strike.
In responce he fliped around her, nicking her side slightly with his sword. He landed upon the top of the window he had come from.
He reached at his hip. And drew three throwing daggers. He tossed them, striking Lloth once with two, two legs were now damaged. Charmingly he tipped his hat and grabbed Nari and leapt out the window.
