Chapter Nine.
Tamia knew the deer was close and that the deer was not even aware of her because of Adonis. It would only be a matter of time before she got really close to the deer to get her shot in as they stalked closer to the young buck. ‘Almost there, just another few feet closer and I got him.’
Just as she started to stand on Adonis’s back, the deer bolted away sending Tamia down onto Adonis’s back, urging him forth at his fastest speed possible to try to catch up to the deer but the deer was gone before she could get ready to jump again.
“DAMN!” Tamia snapped, pulling Adonis to a halt at the edge of the field seeing no deer whatsoever around the area.
A growl came from behind her as she glanced to see shadows dart back and forth in the woods. She wondered what manner of creatures beyond the ones that she knew could move that fast. But Adonis started to prance nervously about as the shadows started to get closer and Tamia reached for her familiar weapon to remember that she had gone hunting without her normal gun. ‘Damn!’ She urged Adonis on to the field and started to gallop towards the middle when she saw two forms show up in the field. One form was very familiar to her as she pulled Adonis to a very sharp stop and leapt off him as she rushed to the form.
She looked at the bloodied form and then noticed that the other person that was lying there was also dead. She quickly headed for the woods to get an armful of wood to burn the corpse of the dead person, only after the person was burned, she picked up her phone and called Carlisle. “Hi Carlisle, I’m sorry to call you on your cell. No, I’m fine. I think you need to come out to . . ..” She told him the location and told him to hurry after she heard him say something she hung up the phone. ‘This will hurt Emmett a lot.’
About five minutes later, Tamia was getting ready to pick up the body and flee the area because of the sounds of wolves coming closer and then she saw the wolves, that was far more larger than the normal wolves appeared walking or more like stalking out of the woods. Tamia knew she needed to call upon all of her gifts if she was to survive this encounter as she knew what they were – werewolves.
Tamia breathed in deeply as she looked at the wolf pack that crept closer to her location. The wind blew from the wolves’ direction right to her. She suddenly stood fully upright as she looked at the rusty brown head wolf that led the pack. “You cannot hide your scent from me . . . Jacob Black! I know it is you!”
The head wolf stopped where he was at and shifted to reveal . . . “How did you know it was me?”
“I could smell you coming from the woods, Jacob. You spent too many times standing next to me to where I would not know your scent.” Tamia replied, averting her eyes as the young man that stood before her was stark naked.
Jacob looked at her with his arms crossed in front of him. “So what were you doing out here? It is not safe here.”
“I was hunting.” Tamia replied, remembering that she had in her pack on her back was her camera.
“I see no gun.” Jacob stated.
“I have no need for a gun.” Tamia replied, as she looked at him calmly. “When I am the weapon.”
The other two wolves started to growl as they advanced towards her. Jacob stepped before them and growled a deep throaty growl. They looked at him and stepped back as Jacob turned to look at Tamia. “What . . . are you?”
“Your worst nightmare.” Tamia replied, with a growl to her voice.
“What are you really?” Jacob asked.
“I am a hunter, Jacob.” Tamia stated.
“A hunter of what?”
“Of the bloodsuckers or as your tribe calls them the cold-ones.”
“Are you . . . one?”
“I’m what you call a half-breed, Jacob.” Tamia spoke, as she looked at them. “Of a human woman and a vampire male.”
“You’re a vampire?” asked Quil, shifting out of his wolf form. “But you’re human?”
“I’m a half-breed, thus the reason I was in the woods today.”
“Why are you here?” Jacob asked, as he glanced over and saw the torn remains of the vampire. “It’s her isn’t it?”
“Yes, I called Carlisle to come. You and your La Push wolves better leave before they come here and blame you for her death.”
“Jacob, we better go before they get here.” Quil replied, tugging at his arm.
Jacob nodded as he started to back away. Tamia looked at him. “Jacob, if you promise me not to reveal what I am to anyone. I’ll protect your lands from the Volturi for if they come here and find out that there is a pack of wolves here, they will hunt your clan down and slay them all. You will need my help in keeping your tribe safe. And if I need your help you will give it to me.”
“Why should we?” asked Quil. “You’ll just stab us in the back and kill us.”
“I wouldn’t as that would mean I would come up with injuries that I cannot explain and plus the police would investigate the attack . . . neither of our people would want that.” Tamia stated. “I will help protect your lands and your tribe from the Volturi.”
Jacob stopped backing away. “You will do that?”
“Yes, why not? You didn’t want to harm me when you came out of the woods, which you could have done.” Tamia said.
“Well, that is true. My eyes saw you but we scented vampire. I smelled vampire when we were in the woods patrolling our lands.” Jacob replied. “And we chased after you thinking you were that were the vampire.”
“But you were really chasing after my vampire side which was raised during the hunt. Now I have to wait couple of weeks before I hunt again.” Tamia said. She glanced off to the distance. She whispered, “Get out of here! Run for the woods and flee for they are coming.”
Jacob nodded. “You have our word.” And then with that said a wolf stood before her and then fled into the woods without another sound.
Tamia turned to the wood she placed by the rogue vampire and jotted down his description and the name she pulled from his wallet, she will have to notify the Volturi about this death of the rogue vampire and that of the Cullen girl. She flipped open her phone and dialed a number. Within a few seconds, she was talking to someone and then hung up the phone as a dark car pulled up followed by a jeep.
Carlisle climbed out of his car and headed for Tamia’s side. “What’s wrong?”
“This is, Carlisle.” Tamia pulled the riding blanket off of the remains.
“ROSELIE!” Cried Emmett, as he tried to lunge towards the body that laid there.
Carlisle and Edward tried to keep him from the body. Tamia spoke fast. “Let him go! It is his wife that is dead, Carlisle, Edward.”
Emmett used his speed to get to Rosalie’s side fast and lifted her partially up into his arms and he started to beg her to return. He even bit his arm and put the bleeding limb to Rosalie’s parted mouth to accept his blood.
“Emmett, that will not work with her. She’s now forevermore dead. There will be no bringing her back.” Tamia stated firmly. “Not even Carlisle can bring back the dead of the vampires.”
Emmett and the others looked at her shocked. Alice asked. “How . . . do you know that, Tamia?”
“I have people.” Tamia replied, as she whistled loudly as Adonis made his appearance as he trotted over to her. Without another look, she leapt onto his back and rode away.
“Tamia, what do you mean by that?” asked Edward, as he made an attempt to catch up to her still posing as human.
“Google it!” Tamia yelled back as she disappeared into the woods.
