"Let's go down their and slit their throats until we find her," Edmund growled, his rage clouding his judgement at the moment.
"No, we must find where their encampment is the weakest, then drive our army through," Peter said. Edmund growled down at the place where the Calormenes were camped. He hoped that whatever they were doing to Shazarraah, he hoped that she could hold on until he could rescue her.

"Oh might Tisroc, may you live forever, we have cleaned her as you wished," a Calormene soldier said, leading Rishda into the tent to see that Shazarraah was bound in stocks, naked.
"Good, all that hair that she has allowed to grow on her legs and in between them will not look attractive to the men. but first, give her ten thousand...no, make that twenty thousand lashes. I want her to be in pain before she's given for sport to the rest of the men," Rishda ordered.
"Yes, oh mighty Tisroc, may you live forever," the soldier said.

"You broke your own rules because of Tash's interference...both of you must be punished," the voice from the ball of light spoke.
"What do you intend on doing?" Aslan asked.
"I shall let the mortals decide this conflict. You, nor the gods of Calormene can directly interfere with the war. When the moon reaches its apex, my light will flash across both the lands of Calormen and Narnia. Neither you nor Tash and his allies will be able to help directly in the conflict. If you or he does, you will cease to live."
"I understand," Aslan said.
"Before that time, give them as much council as they will need. Victory can only be claimed if either Tash's temple is destroyed and all his followers lay dead at the High King's feet, or all of your followers and the land where the stone table lie must lay dead and destroyed at the Tisroc."
"While this takes place I..."
"I said nothing about indirectly helping them...I know what you wish to do and I give my blessing. Now, go. Wait on my light's appearance when the moon reaches its apex."

She let quiet tears fall as the whip kept crashing against her skin. She would not give the two Calormenes that were whipping her the satisfaction of hearing her cry out in pain. However, her hopes to see her barbarian king again were slowly dying. Then, the two Calormenes stopped, hearing the sounds of battle.
"Do we go and help?" the first asked.
"No, let us finish our work here," the second answered and the two continued their work. However, their work was cut short, literally, when a sword flashed into existence and cut the whips that they were holding. They tried to draw their scimitars in order to defend themselves, but their arms and their lives were cut short.
Shazarraah, her face turned so she could see none of what had happened, braced herself for something far worse, but it never came. She felt the stocks being opened and felt herself in the warm embrace of her king.
"Edmund," she shuddered.
"It's ok...by the lion's mane I'm going to kill..."
"Find my clothes...please," she requested and Edmund gathered her Calormene armor and she redressed. Edmund handed her her sword back and she took it, grateful to have it back.

The Narnian army had been pushed back across their own border, but no further. Presently, night fell on the quiet, still battle field. Jill and Eustace, who had to this point done good to survive were now before the returned Aslan.
"You two," he began, "were to be the only ones in the beginning to come back. However, because of Tash's revival of Jadis, then his blessing being given to Rishda, things have turned out far different than I wanted. However, you aren't the warriors that the High King and his brother are. This is too much of a sight for your young eyes."
"Sir, please, was their supposed to have been a train accident?" Eustace asked. Aslan could see that the four others were coming as he requested.
"Ah, come, you should hear this as well," Aslan bid them to come and the four siblings did so.
"You are correct...in your world...the five of you..." Aslan said and looked at Peter, Edmund, Lucy, Eustace, and Jill all in turn, "died."
the five gasped and Susan turned a pale shade of white. Aslan hadn't wanted to tell them this, but there were things that they should know before he left.
"However, a moment before the train accident happened, you two," he looked at Jill and Eustace, "were taken to King Tirian's side. While the three of you," he said, looking at Peter, Edmund, and Lucy, "were to be taken to my country. However, before you could go their, Jadis was revived."
"And that's when you brought me and Ed here to face Jadis," Peter said and the great lion nodded.
"And that's why I appeared so suddenly near where Susan was presently living and why you told me to do what you said for me to do," Lucy finished and Aslan nodded again.
"I was to destroy this world and create another, but destroying this world would have played into Tash's master's hands. I realize that what goes on and on forever that is good, weakens evil. And, what goes on forever in the name of evil, strengthens evil."
"What are you saying? You want us to go back?" Eustace asked.
"You weren't meant to be king or queen of Narnia yourselves...these lands aren't yours to directly protect like your cousins. I can send you back and you will be found, alive, in the wreckage of that train. Or, you may stay, but I warn you, if you stay, this war will be the hardest on you two. You will have to become better at the bow or sword, little Son of Adam. And you, Daughter of Eve," he said to Jill, "must guide and direct where the army can go for the best position against the Calormenes."
The two looked at each other. At first, they didn't want to stay, knowing of the horrors of the war that had taken place in their world, but Narnia was as much of their home as their own world was.
"Our cousins maybe kings and queens, but that doesn't mean that they are the only ones that want to fight and defend these lands," Eustace said and the lion smiled.
"Honorable words...now, High King Peter, there is only one way this mess shall end, either you will stand over the destroyed temple of Tash with all his followers dead, or, Rishda will stand over the destroyed land where the stone table once laid with all Narnians that are loyal to my name dead."
Peter gulped but nodded his head in understanding.
"And if neither side is able to do what you have said?" Peter asked.
"Then, this war shall never end," Aslan said quietly, which made the statement more chilling than if he had said it with a roar. Then, a bright, white flash washed across the lands.
"What was that?" Lucy asked.
"The emperor's command. Neither I nor the gods of Calormen can fight along side the mortals of Narnia or Calormen."
"But even you died," Peter remarked.
"True, but I can never grow old, nor can Tash. We cannot die from natural causes. Your time is finite, Tash and my own are not. Now, you must win this war, and I must deal with an ape and begin a new covenant. And remember, keep the ones you want closest to you there at all times, and always, always keep your sword clean," he said and vanished.
"Deal with an ape?" Susan asked.
"Shift! That rutty ape must have slipped away when Tash brought Jadis back to Narnia...I hope Aslan gives him a good what for," Eustace pronounced. The other five nodded in agreement with Eustace's statement.
"Come, you heard what we must do," Peter said and the others followed, worried, but if Aslan had confidence in them, then they would win this and bring back peace to these damaged lands.
