Chapter 9: Discoveries made
Bruenor cackled, a habit he seemed to have picked up recently, and eagerly rubbed his hands together. Everything was going smoothly, and it even looked as if they would get done before sundown, a whole day earlier than he had expected. The six dwarves he had assigned to this task were in a good mood as well, humming as they worked; two tearing down the wall; two polishing the stone and two building and moving around furniture under Stumpet and Regis’ supervision.
The dwarven king smirked, watching his idea being constructed before his eyes. He had to admit to himself, though, that he found it to be one of his better ideas in a long, long time… Though, he reminded himself, he had to be careful not to tell Drizzt and Catti-brie that he had fully known about the cave he had send them to. He had a feeling that none of them would be all too happy knowing that it had been his full intention to get them into that particular cave…

Catti-brie sighed pleasantly, resting her head against Drizzt’s black chest – as she seemed to do whenever she could. The pheromones still hung in the air, she could smell, though she did not regret their entrance into the cave. Quite the contrary, to tell the truth…
The drow stirred then, breaking her line of thought, and slipped out of his light reverie. She felt him give her shoulders a slight squeeze, and she tilted her head upwards, seeking his lips, before returning to her former position.
“We should be getting back..,” Drizzt muttered, fingers lazily drifting up and down his spine.
“Why?” Catti-brie asked with a purr, rolling over so she lay on top of the elf. “Me da’ said ‘imself that it’d probably be takin’ a few days, so they won’t be expectin’ us back ‘fore tamorrow…”
Drizzt laughed aloud.
“And you should be running out of stamina at some point, darling,” he said with a wry smile.
Catti-brie made a soft, purring sound.
“Why not find out when, then?” she asked with a seducing voice, sitting up and parting her legs so she was straddling his slender thighs.
“You’re hopeless,” the drow laughed, wrapped his arms around her and pulled her down to press a tender kiss against her nose.
They shared a few kisses and caresses, before Catti-brie, grinning, deftly and suddenly untangled herself from Drizzt’s arms, and walked over to the pond.
“Thirsty,” she replied with a smirk, seeing the elf’s confusion, and tossed her hair over her shoulder.
The drow sat up and crossed his arms in front of his chest with a pout, making the young human laugh. She knelt at the side of the pond, taking care to give her lover a good long look at her backside, before scooping up a handful of the surprising cool water. She held it there for a moment, inhaling the sweet scent of the water, before draining her hands of the liquid. Immediately, her eyes went wide as she felt the lust surge through her body, and she felt her breathing become quick and harsh.
“Catti?” Drizzt asked with concern in his voice, and she turned her head, looking at him.
The heat in her veins tenfolded by the sight of her drow, and, almost without realising, flung herself at him, knocking him to the ground, and showering him in kisses.
“What on earth’s gotten into you?” the drow muttered, even as he responded with an equal fury.
“Ye not be wantin’ ta know..,” her muffled reply sounded as she merged their bodies, drawing a low moan from the black elf beneath her.
“By the gods… If you keep going like this, I’ll be having difficulties walking tomorrow..,” he softly groaned, wrapping his arms around her waist.

Wulfgar walked in a calm pace, Aegis-Fang resting easily on his shoulder, and whistling an old mining-tune.
Bruenor had told him of the apparent relationship between Catti-brie and Drizzt and though the barbarian was happy for his two friends, he could not help but to be just the slightest envious of the drow elf.
Yet, they had certainly taken their time, he thought with a chuckle; knowing that the relationship between the two had grown steadily through the time after his own, apparent death. But it had truly surprised him that it had taken them nearly ten years before they finally had pulled themselves together and taken this final step...
In the distance, he spotted the cave entrance and chuckled to himself upon recognizing it, and felt a pang of pity for the black elf. Catti-brie could be most vicious when in the mood...
Bruenor had his surprise for the two ready, and therefore Wulfgar had been send out to fetch them and bring them back to the mines.
The barbarian paused outside the entrance, studying the dead yetis, while he searched his pockets through for a small vial of perfumed oil, of which he rubbed a little on the skin over his lips. The smell made his eyes water for a second, but it blocked out all other scents – even that of the dead yetis – and it would be an effective protection against the airborne aphrodisiacs inside the cave.
sly sly protected, he paused only long enough to lighten a torch he had brought with him, before moving into the twisted tunnels of the cave. And it was not long before he encountered the strange serpent-like creature; its scales gleaming like thousands of gemstones in the torchlight, and though he, too, had no idea of what it was, the barbarian was confident that Drizzt and Catti-brie would have reached the Lovers’ Cave safely.
He had never been there himself, but, as a youngster, he had often heard the stories of the cave, and knew the effects the air had on any creature. His long strides quickly carried him down the corridor, and before long, he could see a reddish light fill the corridor ahead. Wedging the torch into the wall between two loose rocks, he let his eyes be guided by that light solely, and entered the cave that once had served as a yeti-lair and paused, listening carefully. And, as he had expected, he could hear a variety of soft moans coming from the crack from which the light streamed out.
Already from a distance, though, he could clearly see that he had no chance of fitting through the crack, and he settled for peeking through it, just to ensure that the right people were in it. They were, he noticed with a smirk, and, grinning, he silently jogged back down the corridor, torch back in hand. He stopped once he reached the dead serpent, and, picking up as much of it he could hold, he dragged the rest back down the corridor, back to the cave, and plopped it up against the wall.
Knowing himself, however, the annoyance of being disturbed, he waited until the twin cries of release softly called through the air – and gave them a few more moments to relax and catch their breath – before he raised Aegis-Fang into the air and hurled it at the dead serpent with a cry to Tempus. Both the cry and the following smash as the warhammer struck true – and took out a fair amount of the wall behind the serpent as well – echoed down the tunnels, loud enough for anyone nearby to hear and especially those for those two for whom it was meant.
He could hear a few muffled oaths and the rustling of clothes before, a few moments later, both Catti-brie and Drizzt – both fully dressed – tumbled out of the crack, both holding their weapons.
“What took you so long?” the barbarian asked, as if he did not know what was happening between the two, and successfully managed to hide his grin, even as he noticed a slight blush creep onto Catti-brie’s face.
“We.. uhm.. were exploring some caves,” Drizzt slowly replied.
“Aye.. An’ kept goin’ back an’ forth, ya know,” Catti-brie readily agreed and nodded. ”An’ kept findin’ new an’ interestin’ areas ta explore…”
Wulfgar merely nodded, fearing he’d be unable to contain his laughter if he opened his mouth, and gestured for them to follow, as he started walking down the corridor.
“How did you know where we were..?” Drizzt asked.
“Bruenor told me that you were around here,” the barbarian said. “And as I saw the yetis outside, I knew that you had to be inhere..”
No need to tell them the whole truth, he thought to himself, as they lehe che caves and headed in the direction of the dwarven homes.
* * * * *
Though the walk back to the mines was fairly short, looking at the average size of Icewind Dale, it was still past sunset when they finally reached the well-known entrance and once again walked down the familiar passages.
“I suppose you’d like to wash off some of the dust from those caves,” Wulfgar suggested, managing to keep his smile as a purely friendly one, despite the fact that he, on the inside, was screaming with laughter at the thought of his two friends’ expression once they discovered Bruenor’s surprise.
* * * * *
At any other time, Drizzt would have walked down one passage and Catti-brie down another in order to get to their respective rooms, but, just before they reached the fork, they literally bumped into Bruenor.
“Took ye long enough!” the dwarf bellowed. “Had ta send out me boy ta fetch ya!”
“The tunnels and caverns were more tempting to explore twe hwe had ever thought them to be,” Drizzt replied with a smile.
“Bah! Some day, ye outta get that adventurous spirit outta yer head..,” the dwarf growled. “But ye’d been moved, elf,” he continued, reaching out with a hand and stopping Drizzt from going down the passage.
The black elf stopped, turning to the dwarven king with a look of curiosity. Bruenor had, some time ago, moved him around the different parts of the mines, partly to find him a room he didn’t get claustrophobic in, and secondly merely to see if he could get Drizzt’s patience to snap. Of course, he had failed utterly... But it had been some time ago, and the drow started wondering if his friend was starting on it again.
“We had ta move one o’ the others, an’ yer room’s the most appropriate in location ta place him in, so ye’ve gotten a new room. ‘Tis down next ta me girl’s, at least till we find ya somewhere more suitable. Unless, o’ course, ye don’t mind bein’ there...”
“I think I’ll live,” Drizzt replied with a grin.
Bruenor and Wulfgar shared a grin as the two others disappeared down the hallway, before they, too, followed – as silently as they could – not wanting to miss their friends’ surprised looks.
* * * *
They shared a kiss before entering each their own door, only to stop dead in their tracks. For instead of finding their own, separate rooms, they found themselves facing a huge double bedchamber – their possessions carefully arranged along the walls, and a single, large, four posted bed occupying the centre-wall and the centre of the room.
“You know, darling... I have a feeling that they know..,” Drizzt muttered, turning his head to look at Catti-brie, who had entered through the room’s other door, and now stood a few feet to his left.
He merely received a shrug and a grin in return, accompanied by the hardy laughter of both Wulfgar and Bruenor from outside the room.
A/N: FINALLY! The chapter is done…Sorry for keeping you waiting for so log.
