Airport Woes
sadi_kaeleer@yahoo.com
While flying back to Iowa for the new school year, my connecting flight from Chicago to Cedar Rapids got canceled for no discernable reason.
There I was, with a fuck-ton of crap and no where to go, sitting in a busy airport with everyone rushing around me at a breakneck pace and staring at the departures sign.
CANCELED, it said in large friendly letters.
FUCK YOU, I thought in a much less friendly way.
Every muscle in my body ached as I once again gathered up my fuck-ton of crap and tried to find someone who looked vaguely clueful. Clues and airport personnel seemed to be contradictory terms, so I got bounced from place to place to place, wearing out my shoes and killing my legs for nothing.
"I have been here for three hours." I snarl at the next booth. "My flight has been canceled, even though no other flight has been, and the sky is clear as a bell, and no one is this hell-hole has been able to re-book my passage to Cedar Rapids. I have had it. I want to talk to a manager, and I want to talk to them right now, and if I *don't* I am going to throw the hugest fit."
The woman blanched, and I felt momentarily bad, but the feeling didn't last as pure pleasure sung through me at the slight of her lifting a phone and saying "Yes, sir? I have someone here at gate K1 who says she.. yes. Yes. Your flight was 3237, right?" She looked over at me. I nodded. "Well, apparently they weren't all found, because I have a young girl standing in front of me who says.. Yes sir, I'm very sorry, sir. Yes, of course I should have. Very sorry. I'll send her right over."
"If you'd like, I'll call a cart to drive you to the offices. They're all the way on the other side of the airport, and that stuff looks heavy. We're very sorry that this happened. We tried to make sure we got all the passengers to Cedar Rapids for the 1.27 flight on the 2.08 flight, but I take it you didn't hear the announcements?"
I raised an eyebrow. "This is not my fault. If there was only one, there obviously should have been more. Even if there were more, why weren't any of the other attendants able to give me this information earlier? I've talked to quite a number of people and they all seemed clueless."
"I'm sorry." The women bit her lip and looked away. "I'm going to call the cart to come and get you. I don't know why they weren't able to help you. The last flight to Cedar Rapids from Chicago has already taken off - "
"WHAT???" I screamed
"But," she continued doggedly, "We might be able to send you to Detroit and get you to Cedar Rapids from there, as there are more flights between Detroit and Cedar Rapids than Chicago."
"Why the hell would you send me all the way out there when Iowa is only an hour or so drive away?" I asked incredulously.
"You'll have to talk to Mr. Michel. I'm sorry I can't be of more help." She said as a cart pulled up.
A really cute guy with long ash blonde hair smiled and beckoned to me. I grinned in reflex and wiggled my eyebrows at him. He jumped up and grabbed all the stuff piled at my feet and gently set them on the back row. We both hopped onto the front seat, and I looked back just long enough to see the woman shake her head at us and wander off.
In that moment I couldn't care less care less about anything. The cart moved slowly but surely towards answers and a way home, and in the meantime I had this decadently hot guy sitting next to me and flirting with me like we were the last humans left on Earth and had to re-populate it. His tag proclaimed his name was Julian, and I thought of one of my favorite bad guys of all time.
We reached the offices at what seemed to be light-speed, and I was sad to see the ugly stuffed shirt waiting for me. Julian helped unload all my stuff and handed me over to the stuffed shirt with a somber look on his face.
"You were traveling to CID, yes?" He asked me. I nodded, He sighed, then turned his back on me and headed back towards the yawning door. "Then please follow me." He said without turning to look at me. I stuck my tongue out at him, then looked at Julian shyly. Thinking, Oh what the hell!, I wrapped my arms around him and gave him a give hug goodbye. When I started to pull away and follow the ugly old guy, Julian surprised me by holding on tight to my jean pockets to keep me close and leaning down to kiss me smack on the lips!
Dead with shock I watched as he hopped back in his cart and drive away, sending me smiles over his shoulder until he was completely out of sight.
I heard a throat clear behind me, and found that Ol Stuffy had actually turned to make sure I was behind him, and had waited for me.
Another stupid old fart waited behind a desk. He stood up when I walked into the room and shook my hand.
"We're very sorry for all of this. There's very little we can do. We could find a cab and pay to have you driven the rest of the way, considering the distance is short enough that flying you to MSP or Detroit would be laughably stupid, or we could put you up at the hotel here, paying for dinner and breakfast as well of course, and get you on the first plane to CID tomorrow morning."
I stood and thought for a moment. Julian's face flashed in my mind's eye. I patted my pant pocket where he'd snuck in a little piece of paper, then thought on a very long and boring ride with questionable company.
"I would like to be put up here for the night."
The man nodded and walked around his desk to sit down. He picked up a slim folder from his desk and handed it to me.
"My assistant will escort you to the hotel. Hand the folder to the person at the desk and they will make sure you are all set. The top piece of paper has my home and cell number on it. Call if there are any problems." Then he winked at me and gave me a small smile. I stared in wonder as his face changed from tired and grey to lovely then back again.
Stumbling a bit, I headed back to the bustling airport, grabbed my junk and hopped in another little cart, but this time the drive wasn't even half as much fun.
I got dumped at the hotel doors and stared at by suspicious rent-a-cops manning the security screenings from the hotel to the terminal. I wanted to beat them all with a shoe and tell them to mind their own damn business. Instead I breezed past them to the front desk.
The folder got me instantly transported to a kickass room with cable, so I hooked up my laptop first thing before exploring anything else. The room was nice by anyone's standards with the possible exception of multibillionaires, but they aren't really human anyway, so they don't actually count.
The hotel manager had personally seen me to my room and told me that if I wanted anything, anything at all, to just call room service, because it would all end up on the tab that I would never even have to peek at. Then he winked at me and left me to my own devices.
First things first: email, lj, shower, in that order. After the delightfully hot water sluicing away all the sweat and stress, I picked up my discarded pants and pulled out the piece of paper Julian had given to me. On it was a phone number and a time. I glanced at the clock and calculated I had two hours. Oh what to do what to do. A wicked smile graced my lips as I picked up the phone and dialed room service...
"Yes, this is room 1212. I'd like a few things. First: do you think you could bring me some lube and a box of condoms..?"

Hot
Hot kinky sex. Julian thrusting, me raising to met his body shoving into mine. Pleasure trilling through ever nerve in my body. While balanced on the precipice for a minute, I grieved that this act held no meaning for either of us and was as empty as masturbation's solitary satisfaction.
Cold
Cold. Dry.
Morrigan turned her head away from Charles as he pushed himself into her. His virgin bride. For a year she had shunned him, but no more. He needed heirs, and by God, he would have them. But he hated her for making this act on of solitary satisfaction.

I woke up to an unfamiliar ceiling. Considering the amount of time I had spent on my back the night before, the hotel ceiling should not have seemed this alien to me. Frowning in confusion, I wiggled under the heavy weight, and gasped in shock when not an ash blonde head but a very dark one came into view.
I stared at the man on top of me in dumb horror.
"Well, you are done with your duties, now, so never fear." He sneered in contempt as he moved off me and off the bed. I remained in shock at the strange pain I had seen in his eyes.
He laughed and snarled, "Oh, don't trouble your self my dear wife. I can see myself out without your assistance."
"Wife?" I screeched, and vaulted out of bad, only to land flat on my face. A screaming pain raced through my left leg. Raising myself to my arms, I started down at it uncomprehendingly. It was twisted and scarred and... covered in black hair..?
With a shaking hand I reached up to my head and pulled down a stray lock. Black. My long orange hair hideously died black. I wanted to cry. Cry and scream and throw a huge fit. Instead I sat on my butt and looked up at the man who was looking at me like I was crazy. Well, two could play at that game; especially since I thought he was just as crazy as he thought I was.
"Who the fuck are you?" I demanded.
I snarled as he choked in surprise. "Don't look at me like that! I am not crazy! And where the fuck am I? Where's my laptop? Better yet, where's Julian, eh?"
"What in the world are you talking about? Who is this Julian? Have you been cheating on me? How could you, the prefect, the virtuous Catholic-"
"CATHOLIC? Who the hell are you calling Catholic?! Do I look religious to you? I don't fucking damn well think so you arrogant asshole! Now tell me where the fuck I am and how in the nine hells I got here! NOW!"
He stood looking down at me in shock. He actually looked kind of cute when he wasn't sneering at me. I looked up the length of his robe-clad body, then down and back up again. Very nice. He raised his eyebrows at me when I finally met his eyes and grinned at him and wiggled my eyebrows.
"Who are you?" He asked in a whisper, more to himself than me.
I raised my hands in front of me for defense before responding "Hey man, that is so not my problem. All I want at this moment is some clothes and to find my way back to my room. My flight is at 2.50, and I intend to make this one... Mind helping me up?" I held out my hand to him, and he yanked me up.
"Your room? Flight? You take so strangely.. Did losing your virginity make you lose your sanity as well? What have I done with my selfish actions?" He looked so sorrowful as he spoke, I leaned up and gave him a chaste kiss on the cheek.
"Virginity?" I laughed. "Man, I haven't been a virgin in years, but if it makes you feel better, I'm just as confused as you are at the moment. Who are you? Where am I? And why the hell am I wearing such a hideous... thing?" I looked down at what my great-grandmother might have referred to as a nightgown, but it was quite possibly so horrible looking even she, prude she was, might have rather gone with nothing at all rather than wear it.
I looked back up at him and he blinked at me. "Of course you were a virgin. There's blood on our marriage bed where I took you last night." And he gestured at the bed.
I turned and almost fell because of the twisted leg. Snarling in frustration, I yanked my arm back from him when he tried to steady me. Sure enough, on the bed there was a rather conspicuous blotch of red. I frowned.
"Where am I?"
"Why, my dearest wife, you are home." He replied sardonically.
I shook my head. "Wife? I'm no one's wife."
He laughed bitterly. "I know you wish it were otherwise, but we are Morrigan."
I whirled to face him again. "What the fuck did you just call me?! And who the hell are you, anyway? What time is it? I'm not going to miss my god damned flight twice." I stomped away from the bastard and almost fell over for the millionth time, but caught my balance on one of the bed posts. Prowling the room, I searched for a clock. Unable to find one, I yanked open the small door near the bed, then stopped short.
The room I woke up in looked like a very over-done hotel room. Very, very over done, but it still looked like it was more for show and than living in. The room I stood at the entrance to definitely looked like it belonged to someone. A masculine someone. There was bric-a-brac and personal objects and subtle feel that said "someone lives here" in a way that no hotel room has ever been able to feel, no matter how much of my shit I packed into it.
The guy came up behind me and set his hands on my shoulders.
"Morrigan, I'm going to call the doctor-"
"Quit calling me by some other bitches name. I don't even know who you are, and you sure as hell don't know who I am, so stop pretending you do. Where am I? Literally. Pretend I’m stupid."
"You are in Dorset, England."
At that, I really did lose my balance and fell right onto my ass and his feet. I leaned my head back against his legs and looked up at him. He titled his head down to stare at me, somewhat confused.
"When I went to sleep, I was in Chicago, USA. And just so you think I'm completely unhinged, I think it's the year 2005."
At that he fell over too. A resounding thump went through the floor as he sat down heavily. He stared at me for awhile. "As you so interestingly put it, I think it is 1883."
"Wow." I said. I blinked a few times and let that sink in. Then I nodded my head and stood up. "Well, this is turning into a really interesting dream."
I stood over him. He craned his neck back to see me. "You're not dreaming, whoever you think you are. You've just lost your sanity."
"I don't think so. If I were insane I'd know it. I'm Catelyn, by the way." I reached down my hand, and he put his in mine. I shook it vigorously, then let it go. "Who are you?"
"Lord Charles Lucien Villiers Mortimer Arlcotte. What is your full name?" He answered, and got to his feet.
"Oooo. I bet you think you're all fancy too, eh? You can just call me Catelyn. Names have power, so that's all you need to know as far as I'm concerned. Look, do you think we could get me dressed? This ... thing should be burned."
"There is some clothing.. your hair.."
"Uh, I'd like to wear a little more than my hair in public, even if this is just a dream, thank you."
"No. It's turning... goldish." He reached out to pet it, and I yanked back then raced for the mirror, doing my best to account for the limp, and nearly falling over again because the limp was gone. I stopped dead in my tracks and lifted the nightgown up. The scars were fading before my eyes. It was like watching water get poured down the drain. I looked into the mirror and wanted to cry the happy tears. My hair was its normal color of orangey-red. I bounced for foot and foot and giggled happily. Charles looked at me in the mirror from the door with a confused and scared look on his face.
He shook his head and muttered something. I turned around as asked him, "What'd you say?" as I yanked the nightgown over my head and tossed it in the dead fireplace. His jaw dropped.
"What?" I snapped. "I need something real to wear. This there clothes in there?" I asked, point to the room past him. He nodded dumbly, and continued to stare at me as I walked, maybe strutting just a little, into the other room. There was a fireplace burning merrily in here, and I made a mental note to grab that piece of crap I had been wearing and toss it in there at some point.
I went to the closet and saw all sorts of very snazzy stuff perfectly arranged. Pants neatly pressed and shirt shiny white, and everything on hangers. I grabbed the nearest shirt and pair of pants and yanked them on. The pants were a little snug on the hips, and dragged on the ground a bit, but that was normal as far as I was concerned. The shirt hung huge on my frame, so I tried the ends together. My bellybutton showed, and it wasn't the best fashion statement, but the world would go on.
"You are a dyke?" He asked, he voice strangely husky.
"I'm bi, actually. Oh wait! Wasn't the Victorian word 'dyke' slang for 'girl who wears guys clothes'?" I asked, beaming. I was quite proud of myself for remembering this random bit of trivia as he nodded. "Oh crap." I looked down at myself. "Girls actually wore dresses back then, didn't they? Fuck. I hate dresses. Eh, oh well. It's not like this is real anyway. Man, I hope my alarm clock goes off soon. You keep giving me really weird looks. Like the one you have on right now. You look like you're choking on something." I glared at him.
"What is bi?" He asked me.
"Oh, uh... well. I like to fuck men and women. Actually, I like to fuck guys and play around with girls, uh, adults. I'm used to girl just being an accepted term for female. I don't do the lusting after small things. That's just creepy." I rambled on as I continued to search through what I guess ed to be Charles closet for shoes.
"This isn't a dream. I'm not dreaming." Charles said. "But how else can I explain your hair, or leg or change in mannerisms?"
"You can explain them however the fuck you want to. No one else cares. I personally think this is a dream, and I am going to act accordingly." I walked over to him and grinned down at him. "I shouldn't have bothered to get dressed." I whispered as I knelt and leaned in to kiss him.
