It was cold around him and deathly silent. His whole body was aching and something cold gripped his wrists and ankles like cold claws forged out of stone. Forcing blue eyes to open carefully there was only darkness and he feared at the first impulse that he had lost the light of his eyes at the sight of eternal darkness, but after a few minutes the eyes got adjusted to the darkness surrounding the chamber and a few things come to sight even if only they faint silluets then the darkness which regained here seemed to swallow every light it spotted entering it’s domain. The silence was unnerving and made him feel uneasy, but it helped to force his mind to try to remember what had happened. Then it come all rushing back like waves of the ocean, when Zeboim goddess of the sea sings her song and dances her dance to let storms wash over the blue water pulling the unfortunate down below in to Chemosh’s cold embrace,…
…the mountain he had searched for since so long nearly like an obsession a fever dream which had burned itself inside his from nightmares troubled mind, Huma’s disappearance, the Dragonlances, the assault, he had overdone himself the spells were to many in that short time span, he remembered now, with his last power before blacking out he had dropped his staff on the ground in hopes that Huma would find it. Huma…his childhood friend the only one he ever had just like the boy, but as it was always and would probably always be the Knights, the sons of Paladine would never trust the children of the three Gods of Magic. Huma has found new friends who he trusted, but Magius had become a mage and s he had lost his friend’s trust for that what he was.
Suddenly the silence was broken by the sound of light footsteps nearing at a slow peace as if they owner would have all time of the world which was in a way also true then his captive could not flee the magical exhaustion had a too immense stain on the mage’s body and it would take at least two days of rest to gain full recovery. The steps got louder with each second or was it his nervously beating heart? Then the silence returned for a short moment, the click of a heavy lock through a key. Suddenly streamed light inside the cold chamber as the door opened forcing the mage to close his eyes the sudden light burned them. The sound of the door closing again and the sound of the lock clicking drifted to his ears and he already wondered if the entering person had left already again, but then the sound of a calm male voice broke the silence.
“Shirak” the al to familiar voice called softly the spell and the sound of cracking flames filled the room. Then the sound of steps renewed again this time getting nearer, when they stopped the mage could feel a hot breath reaching his checks. “I know that you are awake Magius so stop playing.” the voice said as the mage opened his eyes.
“What do you want from me Dracos…” Magius said only now noticing just how dry his throat felt and how hoarse his voice sounded.
“Hmm…what I want…” Dracos asked in a thoughtful tone as he folded his arms eyes gazing at the orange flame on one of the several torches giving the dungeon room light. “Well…as a start my dear friend” Magius flinched at the from venom dripping tone as the renegade mage said those two words “I would like to hear you beg for me to forgive you, but only after you have suffered from you betray for whom a Knight who just like all other fools despises us for what we are and a stinking ox…” Dracos spat his eyes gleaming in furry.
“Huma is not like those other idiots in the Knighthood we are friends.” Magius heard himself say his voice clearing.
“You think so? That might have been the case till the moment you stepped through the threshold of the Tower of High Sorcery to take your Test and he was admitted in to the Knighthood. Magius open your eyes friendship between magi and knights can never exist because of they distrust against us!” Dracos nearly screamed in furry as he suddenly swirled around and left the room locking the door again.
Staring at the ancient looking door Magius was left with his childhood memories of better times and the little doubt and fear from the experience how the world looked at the magic-users…
