Hello, all! It has come to my attention the this category seems to have a distinct lacking in non-A/C fics, so I decided to post some love for my second favorite character and his lady, using the drabble meme that Quantum Witch used for her A/C drabbles...which I suggest you go read now, for they are made of awesome. Go on, I''ll still be here when you get back.
1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Put iTunes or equivalent media player on random.
3. For each song that plays, write something related to the theme you picked inspired by the song. You have only the time frame of the song: no planning beforehand: you start when it starts, and no lingering afterward; once the song is over, you stop writing. (No fair skipping songs either; you have to take what comes by chance!)
4. Do 5 of these, then post.
Now, I decided to do 10, just to make it lengthier. They need more love than they get.
Far Away From Home – Groove Coverage
If we could make it through the darkest Night we''d have a brighter day.
The world I see beyond your pretty eyes makes me want to stay.
Tired black eyes opened slowly, and the first thing that they noticed was that the guest from the night before was not where he had fallen asleep. Naturally, Anathema assumed he had gone. After all, he was quite a busy man.
There was something about Mr. Pulsifer that made Anathema feel...warm. It felt so nice to have someone hold her the way he had all through the night.
She had no idea what had worn her out the night before, but she was sure that he had everything to do with it. Besides...
This bed was lonely without him there. Sure, it was one night, but her bedroom felt strange with his absence.
She smiled to herself as she heard his voice. He hadn''t left after all.
My Kinda Lover – Billy Squier
You put the magic in me, I feel the magic when we do what we do
And oh, I can''t do without you for too long...
Anathema Device was a witch.
There was no doubt about that, despite her lacking in excessive nipples, as the sergeant had always suspected witches to have. Newt really should not want to be with a witch.
But the way that Anathema was always so cool and collected, even with her hair tasseled and falling freely over her shoulders as he pulled her hips closer to his, the way she looked through her note cards, the way she moved with such grace, the way she seemed to look at him like he was the only man in the universe...
It made him feel...indescribable. (*)
Everybody''s Fool – Evanescence (**)
I know the truth now
I know who you are...
He is not that which he claims to be.
When that card had been pulled up, Anathema knew that there was something wrong. After all, when your ancestor tells you to be aware that a man that you were supposed to have had sex with by now (and perhaps, according to a different and nice prophecy, you had fallen in love with him) is lying to you, then you are going to listen.
Newt, however, readily admitted what he lied about. That was different than most men that Anathema knew. It made Newt different from them.
Different was good.
Behind The Wheel – Depeche Mode
Oh little girl, there are times when I feel
I rather not be the one behind the wheel
“Newt,” Anathema called. “Let''s go for a drive.”
He blinked, warning her once again about the upgrades to the poor Wasabi that he did not put in, but somehow knew that he did. Anathema, however, assured him that she liked these changes.
She would, he had mentally teased her as she led him to the car.
“Do you want to drive?” Newt asked, blushing.
Anathema blinked as she registered the question. This was Newt''s own little way of letting her into his life. He didn''t want to let her meet his boss, and he was still hesitant about bringing her home to meet his mother, but he was serious enough to trust her with something of his. There was something vaguely touching about his shyness about letting her drive.
She smiled and took the keys from him, letting herself into the driver''s side. If Newt was going to try to open up to her, she was going to encourage it.
Strawberry Gashes – Jack Off Jill
Watch me lose her, it''s almost like losing myself
Give her my soul and let them take somebody else
Anathema coughed, looking at the red that found its way into her palm.
“Anathema!” Newt called.
“I''m fine, let''s just keep going.”
Newt frowned, checking the wound on her torso. It should be...
“Anathema, your stomach...”
“It''s fine, Newt, go on, you have worse things to deal with. I''ll be fine, just bring back those bastards.”
Newt sighed softly, petting his wife''s hair and getting her somewhere safe. “Here, spread this salt in a circle around you. It should keep you safe until I get back.”
Anathema gave him a look. “I know how it works, dear.”
He laughed nervously and headed on ahead. “I suppose you would, darling.”
No Floods – Lady Gaga
In a world unknown
You gotta hold your own
There was something about the rain that Newt seemed to love.
He had never quite come home after the whole thing that he couldn''t remember, but he felt welcome in Tadsfield, even if there were some people who were less than nice about the newcomer who never seemed to leave without his beautiful wife.
“What would someone like that see in him?” he overheard someone say while they were shopping one day.
That was fine, though. They could say what they want, because in the end, he knew exactly who Anathema was coming home with. She was her own person, and she was more than happy to let him follow her.
And now, laying under an apple tree during a light spring shower kept them dry, for the most part, Anathema''s lips pressed to his. Newt was a little flush from her affections and love and the cold...
But Anathema wouldn''t have him any other way.
Could It Be You? - Cascada
I never dare to ask me who could I be
Who can bring back the love that''s inside me
The life of a descendant had never been too appealing to Newt, but Anathema had never known another life. It would be much different if she had.
For one, she probably would not have given Newt the time of day. She''d be too busy chasing a destiny that she had no idea was coming for her anyway. It was a simple concept that would have been beyond her.
Thankfully, she knew better, letting her finger''s lace with his as they lay side by side. Some time in the near future, Anathema knew what would be coming.
The note card was oddly specific.
When he takes you to the field, don''t second guess yourself.
All I Have – The Veronicas
''Cause you''re all I have when the world comes down on me
You''re the one I love and I''m begging you to see...
Newt was kind of surprised to see Anathema at his mother''s home.
After all, he had told her that he wouldn''t be gone too long. Maybe something is going to happen? What could it possibly be?
“...Crowley is...”
Newt frowned. Crowley? Oh, right, the chap with the sunglasses that stopped by occasionally. “What happened?”
“This is going to sound awkward, but I think that Crowley had been dragged to Hell.”
“...Anathema, it''s not that I don''t believe you...”
Anathema sighed, longsuffering. “We''re going to have to stay at your mother''s place. I don''t want anything to happen to you, too.”
...How the hell did that work out?
Truly Madly Deeply – Savage Garden and Cascada home mix
You don''t have to close your eyes, for it''s standing right before you
All that you need will surely come.
It hadn''t taken long after he met her for Newt to realize that he loved her. This was not new information to Anathema, either, who didn''t mind not hearing it. Then again, she was new to this love concept that Newt had so warmly embraced.
She did steal glances and smiled while he helped her setting up with her astrological predictions, though. Newt may be a witch hunter, but he knew how important it was to Anathema that she knew what was going on at all times if she could help it.
So, when they had gone to the field outside of Norrington Woods, Anathema smiled as Newt realized there was no equipment to unpack.
“Anathema, I think you forgot your...”
Anathema kissed him, gently pushing him to the ground. “I didn''t forget anything.”
It took Newt all of thirty seconds to blush and help Anathema with her blouse.
Stupid Kid
Remember when I said “I love you?” Well, forget it I take it back
I was just a stupid kid back then. I take back every word that I said.
It would be hard to believe that there were men before Newt, if you ever looked at how Anathema blushed in her deep blue wedding dress and how she looked at him every day before and after. But there were. Agnes had told her to get some experience before she met the man of her dreams come the end of the world. And that''s what she had done.
Unfortunately for her, she was attractive enough for this to have caused problems for Newt.
Anathema simply wished her hormones as a teenager had not overwhelmed her and gotten men attached.
*It took great effort to not write in another “in-” word.
**When this one came up, I''m pretty sure that I announced “Fuck!” at the top of my lungs. This song is so very anti-NewtAnathema that I had no idea if I could make it work.
