Chapter 2
Imagine this, if you can. One 26-year-old woman clinging to the door of her condo, stumbling into her living room while her family is watching. That's right, my family. Haven't they ever heard of calling, ahead of time? Mom and Dad were looking at me disapprovingly; this was not a surprise. Papa was sitting on my couch, looking amused; of course he was no longer amused when Kull came in, shouldering Aina. Strange male alert. Unknown males have an effect on a father's equilibrium. In my case, two fathers' equilibrium. As I tried to make my way to the love seat or at least to somewhere that I could lie down, I was about to hit the floor if Lisa hadn't caught me.
"Yooourb burrr crunnk ugwen." Translation: You are drunk, again.
I tried to focus my eyes on something to stop the world from spinning, but it didn't help, everything was going fuzzy again. There were a few others than my parents in the room, but since the drowsiness was kicking in again, I couldn't really tell by looking. By scent, oh yeah, I recognized them. Jason, Nathaniel, and Damian. Oh this was rich, me coming in drunk, at a time like this. So much for seeing me as a responsible adult.
"I've got a migrane coming." At least that was what I was trying to say. What came out, was probably not understood in the English language.
"Klarrry Goooolly wrooot dyye ohhh vaart rrrreeeak crunnk." Translation: Sorry Julie, but I do not speak drunk.
The next thing I knew, everything went black.
